  • @147 Sony doesn’t understand proper pricing on the digital front. The didn’t even give us Plus members a discount on their first party Ratchet and Clank game. lol

  • It’s kind of a bummer that New Little King’s Story is priced at $39.99. Would have liked to see $35.99 or less. But I bought the game anyway. You’re welcome, KONAMI.

  • @152 The real sad thing about that is it was Sony dropping the price of a number of first party games a couple months back. Not one of them that has a digital download received the same drop. Does not make any sense at all.

  • @Elvick_

Thanks for the answers. I appreciate the support for a new Vita owner. That slick white Vita with the game and upcoming IGC was too much to pass up.

I share your bedazzlement on why Little King Story is DL only and at $40. I owned the Wii version which was underrated and outstanding. I’d love to pick this up but don’t understand why there isn’t some sort of discount for digital content only games. Essentially the owner is surrendering the right to resell the game and regain some cash value. Why not sell it for $30? The owner wins as they get a discount, the publisher keeps more funds…everyone wins. Oh well I suppose.

  • when does psn charge i got a item with parenthesis for 59.99 and its a preorder

  • @156 its my understanding that they don’t charge you for the preorder games until the day of release. Similiar to how Amazon does it.

  • what about sleeping dogs ,when the full game will be available on the psn store

  • omg yes, I have been hoping for Chrono Cross since PS1 games started getting released on the vita, this has made my week.

  • @Kristine Steimer
Can you please ask sony (nicely) to increase the limit on PS3/PSP/PSVITA machines count from 2 to 3 or 4. I wanna play my digital games when I visit my parents in the weekend…PLEASE!!!

  • Fantastic update!!

Alex Kidd at 1 buck is mine! :)

    Nights is another must have…

    Thanks!

  • @160 / magpie4life I thought the limit was 5. Did that go down?

  • nights even comes with the christmas one thats awesome and a most buy now

  • Hooray, Sonic Adventure 2! Hope we get the avatars to go with it soon. I have a JPN friend who was sporting a Shadow the Hedgehog avatar, and I so want it. :)

  • What happen to NBA2k13 for PSP? Looking forward to playing it on my Vita.

  • A Mass Effect trilogy is said to be comming later this year or ealry next year on PS3, with Mass Effect 1! Thats good for people like me who never played Mass Effect, and hey we get ME1 too! It’s 3 discs in a neat Shepard foil box with some DLC’s $59,99 :notbad:

  • Idk if links are allowed here but if they are then just right click and open link – http://www.masseffect.com/about/trilogy/

  • New Little King’s Story for 40 bucks and AC: Liberation $30 (factoring from the AC bundle pricing), seems to me NLKS is overpriced, 29.99 is magic for VITA titles IMO.

  • I second the 2K13 for PSP(Playable on the Vita). I won’t get to play the PS3 Version til tonight, but it would’ve been nice to have the PSP Version for my after work commute.

  • Why are you guys expecting digitally distributed games to be cheaper? Who cares if there’s no case or shipping costs. Do you have any idea how expensive those servers are? And the maintenance! Do you think all those technicians are working for minimum wage? I think not! How about the huge increase on the publishers’ electric bill for keeping those servers constantly running? And the bandwidth… holy crap. ONE COST REPLACES ANOTHER. The cost of the servers replaces the cost of cases and pressing of materials. The technicians’ salaries replaces the expense that originally came from their shipping partners, etc.

But! It is cheaper anyway, already! The lack of tax saves you a few bucks. (After a few purchases, that really adds up.) Also, Sony’s allowance of two active copies makes it an even better deal if you happen to have two consoles. 2 copies for the price of 1. The cross-buy titles have been an incredible value as well. Or can you guys not figure this out; the most simple of first grade-level mathematics? I wouldn’t expect digital prices to access the initial content to be much lower than discs at any time in the near future. Probably no more than $5 cheaper…

  • Got to love the math geniuses on the blog…Bashing Sony because of pricing? First off, pricing is a primary concern for companies not directly Sony’s fault. Secondly, you’re sold TWO copies of a game when you buy it digitally, that’s buying 2 for the price of 1 for all the simpletons out there…

They are not going to drop the price for digital copies when they’re more valuable than their physical counterparts.

  • @167 yeah. Theres no reason why Little King Story should cost more than an Assasins Creed game.

  • either 169 and 170 are alts accounts of same guy or both are incredibly stupid.

  • @169, SNE covers those costs via their % cut from the price. It shouldn’t be passed onto the customer. But in the end, the Publisher dictates pricing, not SNE.

  • I’m curious. Does Sony have any interests in placing PSN titles, like Sonic Adventure 2 and Jet Set Radio, onto the PS Vita? The hardware and controls seem to all be there. Or is Sony more focused on creating a difference between home, and mobile gaming with select games, to create a different game feel between the two.

    I’d really like to know.

  • “either 169 and 170 are alts accounts of same guy or both are incredibly stupid.”

A 3 second search would have clued you in on the fact that I cannot be anyone’s “alt account”.

The fact you can’t do the math tends to point towards who is actually “incredibly stupid” might I add.

  • “29.99 is magic for VITA titles IMO”

No doubt, that’s an enticing price and it would be great if all Vita games could sell for that price at launch, but then again, given the nature of the technology and the youth of the Vita, it’s not likely. Only if the Vita really starts dying will they get desperate and lower all the prices.

And hey, I never heard anyone complain about first party titles on the DS costing $34.99 (NSMB, MKDS, etc.). And they stayed at $34.99 for a LOOOOOOOONG TIME. For years!

  • @Fuzzy, I don’t doubt that SCEA has interest in getting those titles onto VITA, but the reality is that it comes down to SEGA deeming it a profitable endeavour, period. Yes, SCEA can sweeten the deal by offering reduced licensing fees, etc. but at the end of the day, it is still up to SEGA. That is, unless SCEA believes in it enough to license it from SEGA and make it in-house, if SEGA would even do that.

  • Why do I HAVE to buy the season’s pass with the ACIII bundle.

I”m serious. I don’t want to spend an extra $20-30 on DLC that I really don’t want. I would buy the bundle if it was just ACIII and Liberation.

You can’t just force people to buy DLC if you’re trying to push the PS3 and Vita version. It’s straight up bull.

  • @176, yeah, I am hoping it will become a more normal price-point if the sales data can show it being worth their while. I would even be willing to go up to 39.99 if it were a cross-buy title, for a worthy game.

  • @ryumoau:

First of all, I have no alt account.

Second, just because you say that, it doesn’t make it true. The fact that you failed to include any points for your side of the argument only shows that you know you’re in the wrong but don’t have the stones to admit it.

I put up points, put up yours. That’s how a debate works. You can’t just say “you’re stupid” and assume you’ve magically won. Coincidentally, it only makes you look… well, you know. ;)

By the way, there sure could be a very valid reason why “Little King’s Story costs more than an Assassin’s Creed game”. You simply just don’t know what it is.

  • @PrimeroIncognito
You’ve got to be on crack, obviously digital version should be cheaper with no production, shipping, less taxes cost,Valve somehow can handle servers maintance even with -75%-80% off titles, and they got far more content to handle as well as far more users,so don’t give me that crap.

Digital versions releases need to change drastically:
First of all,as it happened with LBP PS Vita if the game goes on sale on streets its should be on the store the same day,and I don’t know why anybody would think “day 1 digital” is such a great innovation?PC gaming services doing that for long long time without bragging about it.
Second, the price should go down on digital versions for obvious reasons, the sooner you’ll understand this the better.Retail version is far better choice because you can resell the game, and you can buy it even cheaper than digital version straight from Sony, that ridicilous!

  • “Second, the price should go down on digital versions for obvious reasons, the sooner you’ll understand this the better.Retail version is far better choice because you can resell the game”

The prices will not be dropping…The sooner you realize that, the sooner we might see less ridiculously asinine posts repeating the same concept over and over again.

Retail being better because you can resell?

    1. Why bother buying a game you just want to sell later? Rent it. Infinitely more logical.

    2. The ~10-20 dollars maximum that you get for reselling the game is negated by the fact that you save roughly 30-40 through digital purchases if you have any idea of what you’re doing.

  • Good job, Sony. You give us PS+ subscribers this NFL Blitz game for free and the damn game won’t even load up. I can start it but it won’t load at all. Thanks for giving us a free but broken game. This really is a slap to the face.

  • Has anyone else downloaded NFL Blitz?

I have downloaded it twice and all it does is hang up on the start-up screen…did EA hand out a 1900+mb Wallpaper??

  • alex kidd for a dollar, oh my yes

  • @183: Yeah, same here, see above post. ^^^

Valve doesn’t have any of the extra costs that mainstream publishers do.

Valve also sells games at standard retail price (or even higher) all day long.

PSN runs sales too, mostly for games they’re having trouble moving, or would like to promote better.

Does Valve give you 2 copies for the price of one? (I asking on this one, I really don’t know. I don’t use Valve.)

Did you think about all of that? No.

I gave numerous reasons on some blog post last week why digital distribution has many advantages over retail, but I’m not going to type them all again. Now, keep in mind I’m only playing advocate for the digital side of things. I like disc games too. Both have their obvious ups and downs, but the fact that almost none of you can see the advantages of digital downloads in frankly worrisome to me.

  • “Why bother buying a game you just want to sell later? Rent it. Infinitely more logical.”

    Precisely.

Not only that, but I’ve noticed that most people end up wanting to play the game again at some point down the road. Then they end up spending MORE to get another copy, even if it’s used. Whereas with digital, it’s still in their purchase history and they can just click “download” and enjoy.

  • Maybe I should just download my Assassin’s Creed games…

  • i totally agree with the gentleman above that digital copys should be way cheaper than hardcopys as u dont have a hardcopy of the game, also i think nhl 12 should be cheaper than 13 since its older, madden 12 is 30 bucks since madden 13 came out. whats up playstation, im a loyal fan of the system and spend lots of money on downloads each month and u guys do do nice things for us members but what ive stated above needs work. Thank you for everything, ur loyal fan Daze

  • Yeah, I am reading on a few Facebook PS3 groups and other forums that NFL Blitz is pretty much FUBAR…

  • “IS frankly worrisome”.

I don’t know how I typed “in” when I meant to type “is”…

  • Regarding prices of full PS3 digital games.

It would be nice if Sony would price match everyone else in North America!

Retail copies of many of the available digital games are now 20$ or less.

Forget not needing to spend on packaging and other costs of digital vs retail, the prices should at least be the same (if not lower like many think).

I like that more games are coming to the PS3 Digitally, and I don’t mind that brand new games end up being the same price as retail, although the Plus discounts on some are definately nice.

But please stop charging 30-60 dollars for Digital copies of a game (some old) that anyone can find a retail copy of for 10-30 dollars less.

  • :( My vita says “I hate you, please delete stuff”. Anyone have any rumors on us getting more screens or folders?

  • Cornyyyy update, Cornyyyy Sales. was realy Hoping for Tokyo Jungle D/L Content. owellllll.

  • Hey,

I tried to load Pocket Fighter from Vita and PS3 but I get error c2-13270-3 on vita and the game does not show in content manager for PS3.

    Any ideas?

It shows on the store to buy but no success.

My other Capcom games released on the list today loaded no problems.

This game never loaded on PSP either as a history lesson Sony.

    • Oy! It did it to me too. Will alert folks that this is happening.

    • Just heard back on this — Pocket Fighter was placed on the Vita storefront in error, it is not actually PS Vita compatible. We will be issuing refunds on this for those who purchased the title and that should hit your PSN wallet in 5-7 business days. Very sorry for the inconvenience!

  • Is there a bundle of Assassin’s Creed 3 (standard edition) and Assassin’s Creed: Liberation?

  • I wish there was an option to preorder AC3 with AC3 Liberation without the season pass for $100 instead of $120. I’ll just have to preorder AC3 and then wait to buy AC: Liberation..

  • @196 Mine did that too, after about 5 tried it downloaded correctly. Too bad it’s my 101 game so I can’t play it.
