Last week we gave you a sneak peek of the completely redesigned PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3. Along with the re-imagined user interface, we added predictive search and improved filtering to make finding content easier and faster. The new store also offers more in-depth information about games, add-ons and apps, as well as movies and TV shows, letting you browse and discover new types of content effortlessly.
The redesigned PlayStation Store launches in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil on October 23. In the meantime you can get a taste of what’s coming in this walkthrough video:

Despite my personal dislike and reservations regarding the new store layout:
It will have problems because any new major update does. I’d say wait a few weeks for them to iron out the kinks once it’s been released for a full and proper judgement.
Having said that, I’m still hoping there’s an option to use the old/current layout once this rolls out.
It looks AWESOME(Gorgeous, ‘simple’, easy to read layout, which changes to reflect the content of interest) – Y’all have outdone yourselves(it’s Really Impressive) – Detailed Data is a Big Plus(I need to be able to know weather for example, a shooter is a FPS or not and so on) – I can’t wait until it’s implemented(Release the Kraken!!! – LOL!!!)… =]
I understand that you made the keyboard simpler for dumb people in the search, but can we still use our keyboard thats plugged in? Or use the same keyboard layout on screen? I hate the youtube app, since that doesn’t let me search with my keyboard, stupid. Also, thanks for reminding us how small our app section is.

Also downloading free content should walk you through the steps of adding funds or seeing how much it costs, it should ask you to confirm and let you download.

New store looks great, but is there any news on Paypal coming to the store? The store refuses to accept my Visa debit card, and I don’t like buying $20 PSN cards.

i’m hoping your in the process of updating the friend list in the XMB section to look like a cross between the new psn store and the qriocity video app that would be really cool i just hope it doesn’t take 3+ years to do so and what about the music section it so plane update it to look something like look or at least give us Google play so i can stream my music
The interface we have is good, I don’t like the change of tabs instead of squares with icons for finding categories, it is just so much more exquisite and looks more “professional” and store-like to navigate through them instead of using a tab as if I was doing an everyday task in a computer program. I don’t need it to be faster, just need to find the stuff more easily, that’s it. It is not the same thing.
I didn’t like the fact that you have to use those column arranged letters to input search text. It is slower than inputting with the PS3’s usual text keyboard on screen.
The graphical and more info thing is good but I’d like you to allow users to keep using the store in it’s old form. Add this as a skin. Have two versions of the store, and update the old one with the new funcitionalities. It’s not about “better old known than new to know” it is about not changing what is already well made just for kicks…
You guys beat xbox 360 marketplace out of the water. I got both the ps3 and xbox 360, I didn’t like the xbox 360 marketplace so much, I like the old playstation store. When I see this video it look good and easy to use a lot better then the xbox 360 marketplace.
Sorry, Eric, I like the way the store is now. The LESS you look like Xmarketplace, the better. Please don’t include sponsored loud advertising. And I hate that typing system in YouTube. Why copy that?

Some features that I know that I personally would love to see and use on a constant basis are:
– Be able to purchase and download items from a website and have the PS3 download them.
– Pre-load the pre-ordered games that I have purchased like Assassin Creed 3 (Similar to Steam)
– Be able to download past movies and TV shows from the Download list. This way if the hard drive fails or I
need to make room then I download my purchased movies and TV shows again.

The new design looks great, it’s intriguing and a lot more faster to access content. You guys have resolved the issues that I had with the recent Playstation Store, so I’m pretty astounded. Just can’t wait for what you guys have in store for us in the coming weeks after the debut of the redesign.
This looks pretty cool. Sometimes I hate changes to something that already works well, but in this case I’m looking forward to it. If you successfully brought in new ideas on top of certain features that already worked very efficiently (such as looking up any series alphabetically or showcasing new arrivals, PSN plus, etc. content) then I’m sold on the new look. Nice work!
Can you give as a present a downloadable game to another user?
Can you rate a game that yo have in retail version and not as a download?
I’am from the UK and the new store was ment to launch today and its gone wrong sony have had to revert back to the old one while its being fixed not a good start.
I like it better than the old store for sure. The other store wasn’t bad, it was just a little bland looking.

The new store is far too slow and the checkout process is so long. There’s something like 7 steps to download something. And the main page is riddled with movie ads.
Ok i love the new interface and i’m very excited to see a easy way to search for games…
I just have one complaint. The video preview for the games from store. It such a pain, because I have slow internet and every time i check the video preview for the game it will take couple minutes to load .By the time i watch it i get sooo annoyed to wait.
PLEASE ADD A OPTION TO LOWER THE VIDEO QUALITY OPTION WHEN WATCHING the game preview

The Store looks great! So far from what I saw in the video, you addressed a lot of my issues with the store. Here’s my wishlist if you haven’t already implemented them.
– For Day 1 Digital. Buy the game whenever you want so it can download, then have it unlock at 12:00 a.m. Launch Day.
– A Wishlist feature.
– A search/ filter option in the download list.
-The ability to put a tab on certain things, then when ready press “Buy everything tabbed” and make multiple purchases at once.
– The ability to hear music or be on netflix or playing a game and on the PS Store at the same time.
-Fix the lag between audio and video when watching previews.
– Maybe the ability to tag something and then the store knows to inform you about that product on the home page when new videos or screenshots,or demos are available.

on a side note.
has anyone had problems with the Trophy Sync application…. starting this morning after it auto-updated… it started acting strange.
everytime I click Trophy Collection or my Game Profile thing that lists the trophy by Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum it says Updating Trophy Information and goes through the process…
this happens even if i haven’t played any game or got any new trophies…. I click trophy collection it does the sync, I exit back out after the sync reachs 100% and I click trophy collection again and it syncs the trophy information again and again… it’s always shows the update bar from 0%-100%..
I mean there isn’t any new trophies to sync on the server… it usually only does it once until you play a game… but it keeps doing it over and over even when I click compare friends trophys…
kind of annoying.. any one else having this issue?

I understand that this is a free service, unlike “the other” platform *cough cough*, but I don’t believe it was a reason for you guys not to make constant changes/improvements.

I always thought that the US store was much better than EU store, and was so annoyed that EU store was so cumplicated/slow/disorganized but now I can finally enjoy the proper service.

I want those same types of filters for looking through my own download list … in the store, or outside of it.
Day 1 Digital should be midnight release, i bought doom 3 bfg edition preorder and wasn’t able to download it till 3:45 pm pst on the 16th when the psn store was updated. Had i preordered the game from a gaming store i would have been able to pick up my game when the store opened in the morning, usually around 11:00 am pst.
Living in the UK I had the new store today & overall wasn’t impressed.
My biggest gripe so far is that were forced to view everything in the boxes view & Im finding that incredibly hard to scroll through to find what im after. I was looking through some little big planet DLC earlier & it took forever to scroll through it all to find what i was after as the view is 3 boxes wide in 1 row so you can only see 3 things at a time.
Having the option to select a simple vertical list view like we had before would make things much better. Could you please look into bringing a list view back?
2nd biggest gripe is that its now 5-6 steps just to download a free demo, Before you just clicked download while now you have to add to cart, go to checkout, confirm purchase, start download which makes things take longer than they could.
Don’t like the tumbler keyboard, having usb keyboard support or an on-screen keyboard like before would be better.
Yes its very slow at the moment however that will apparently be improved so long term that shoudn’t be an issue.
Finding where stuff is isn’t an issue once your used to it, Just having no list option that makes things harder to scroll through & find stuff!

Please put the regular text box in search, that one is lame. It sucks on 360, it will suck here. Takes far more time to type something that way than in a text box.
Glad to have videos stream, glad to have related content easily accessible from a games page.

I didn’t really have much of a problem with the store as it is, but I am kind of digging the new look. The only thing I really dislike (and it seems I’m not alone on this) is the search function. The standard keyboard search is just far better than these letter wheels. Not to mention that it’s vertical and not horizontal which is increasingly annoying. I really hope we can change that.
I’m the only one who doesn’t like it, at all. If I wanted a “metro” interface I’d install Windows 8 or use the 360. Now it all looks the same. iPad, Windows, Xbox, PS3, etc. Blah!!!
