Medal of Honor: Warfighter is set to deliver an aggressive, gritty and authentic experience that puts gamers in the boots of today’s most precise warrior, the Tier 1 Operator. Plus members will get to have their hands on the full game for 1 hour and get an enhanced peek into the action they can download when it releases at retail and on the PlayStation Store as part of the Day 1 Digital event with the 10/23 update.

Wonder Boy in Monster Land

80% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $4.99, PS Plus Price: $1.00)

Highly regarded as one of the best titles on the Master System library and playable on PS3, you owe it to yourself to check it out. And with nostalgic boxart like this, how can you resist?

That’s it for this week. Make sure you check out tomorrow’s PlayStation Store update post to see all the details for this week’s Plus update. Thanks for reading, and as always, I’ll see you in the comments.

Does Medal of Honor Warfighter on the psn come with the bonuses that you get when you pre order from a store like GameStop? It says its the limited edition so it should include the free bonuses.

I like the once a week format. It gives me something to look forward to.

I would also like to “vote” for more avatars and themes please.

Oh more RPG games too. I can’t recall the last RPG we got as part of plus. I’m not a FPS fan, so either RPG, Sports, or driving games please.

Can you please pass it on to whoever is in charge of creating the new PS Store. Why can’t you make the store built in the XMB and why does it take like a min to just enter the store? And why pages of clicks just to download something. These issues need to be ironed out.

There’s nothing really new in this update at all…

but does auto update delete your unused full game trials after a while? I know I had Dead Rising 2 OTR trial, used it, but had to redownload over the weekend. Also had Counter Strike trial, but I didn’t use it,,and I just realized I haven’t seen it while looking thru my hdd games recently. I can’t remember if the trials have expiration dates now..

@Morgan Haro
“Thanks for the feedback! Yeah no question, there’s tons of room for improvement. However, we’re paving the way for this with steps like Day 1 Digital and pre-order functionality. We’re the only console that you can find this service on (again: console). we’ve got our eyes on all sorts of ways to improve the service, and fully recognize that it can get even better.”

If you can’t do something right from the begin, don’t release/introduce it until it’s right. I learned that they hard way at my company. This week, we are finally releasing a program that we delay over 6 months because we wanted to get it right from the begin base on previous projects. It cost a lot of payroll, but we know we did the right thing to delay it to just to get it right. I don’t think the people in charge of the PlayStation network and the features will last long in my company.

We’ll have to agree to disagree here. I think it’s an important step in the industry to offer these AAA titles Day 1 on PSN the same day they’re available at retail. It set an important precedent; thus giving us the runway to improve further. Trust me, there’s been things/features we’ve held from releasing because it’s just not right/ready. But sometimes, in order to get the needle moving, you have to take the first step; imperfect though it may be. But from a functionality standpoint, we were able to offer great content same day as retail within the current framework we have. Progress!

MORGAN! whats up!?,

Any info on ps vita, NFS MW. I was hoping for some cross -buy with that or some details on a digital pre-order on it. The way things are looking it doesn’t seem worthy of attention for vita owners. I don’t even really hear it being pushed. Which makes me think that its not going to release on the 30th…. :(

Secondly, I’m always sad to see a lack of game video content on the ps store. I know that is plenty on trailers that developers release that can me its way onto the store. (is it not high priority?).

I appreciate everything you all are doing to bring information and content to us users (players).

For the people who complain about PS Plus.
Just think of the amount of stuff they give you for free for the entire year for just 50 bucks. Please name me another service that is even comparable. You can’t . People expect every week to get a free full game for the entire year for just 50 bucks. Go pay $60 for another service to just be given access to play online.

@infamousXX87XX they are working on bringing a totally redesigned PS Store to us soon think its tomorrow, also read about a system update that’s due tomorrow that moves around a couple stuff on the XMB. maybe that system update takes care of it.

I would like to make my voice heard about the game selection, for the Instant Game Collection Freebies. It seems to be that the games being selected are catering to a specific type of gamer. The ones that play FPS, Fighting, and Sports. That’s been the overwhelming majority of free games added in this collection. These games cater to the online market, and the “competition” player. Please take note of the games that have been released since June, as a part of this collection, and please try a start rotating in the games that cater to the offline, or single player/non-competitive gamer. Games like RPG, JRPG, RTS, Strategy, Sim. Action and adventure are nice, but would really like to see some support for the Solo player, the role playing fans (that should be encompassing enough).

My hope is that we’ll see a lot more of that for the Vita, concerning plus, but still would like to be able to take advantage of that for my PS3 as well. Thanks for your consideration and response.

Here’s an idea for IGC that might please everyone, well not everyone but at least it will help. There are 12 game slot for IGC. Why not have each slot for each game genre. For example …..
1. Role Playing Game (RPG)
2. Action / Adventures Games
3. First Person Shooter (FPS)
4. Fighting
5. Sports
6. Puzzles
7. PSP / PS Vita
8. Racing
9. Strategy
10. Arcade
11. Platforms
12. PSOne / PS2 Classics
Again, this is just an example. Just rotate those game out in order, once it get back to 1 again, then put another RPG then back down the list again. I believe this will make people complain less. Instead of just putting what you think people will like more because we are in the US. Not everyone like sports, FPS or Fighting games. There’s large group of gamers that love other game genres out there. Try to mix it up a little. Just thought I give you folks at SONY an idea. Hope this help you guys out to try and make PS PLUS better in the USA.

@Morgan, I have a question not plus related. Is there ever going to be a set time that the store updates on Tuesdays? There’s nothing more frustrating then getting up the day a new game releases on psn and having to check the store every 10 minutes waiting for the store to update. I love Ps3 and psn (and plus of course). I hardly have any complaints about ps3 at all, but this is one thing that really bothers me.

@115, RenderMonk, I agree with your analysis, but honestly, the entire industry is catering to the multiplayer hive mind (I stole that from another commenter), so you can’t blame Playstation for that. Blame the hive. RPGs would be great, like the Dragon Age series, or Mass Effect but I don’t think EA is open to giving games away.

I just buy the games I want. The Plus games are just opportunities to try different genres, which I probably won’t. For me, cloud storage which allows me to easily move my saves among my PS3s & to semi-defeat Dark Souls hard-*ss policy against reloading an earlier save if I just lost 100K souls, is worth the price of membership.

I have an Idea for plus that I like and think might be successful at getting more and better publishers to come on board with the IGC in North America. I think the reason we havent been getting the games EU is getting is because North American people buy so much publishers don’t want to give it away.

Maybe if plus offered the subscribers a 1 or 2 month “rental” of the games in the IGC and the offer to purchase it at a 50% or greater discount. That way If we like it we can buy it. Of course I would expect retail and High quality psn games to be more constant in our collection, and not so many double dragon and blitz type games.

I think the big studios would be much more amenable to this idea as they could see a lot more income from the exposure that plus can offer even at a discount.

Any chance this pipe dream would be possible?

Kchow23 said:

The Need for Speed: Most Wanted 10% off deal was announced with Day 1 Digital and if anything it helped pad out a more disappointing week. I don’t think there are many people holding their breath to spend $1 for WonderBoy or any of these old Sega games and I am sure there will be a demo of Medal of Honor at some point if not this week… if these timed trials were using Gaikai and didn’t take hours to download or added “bubbled” trophies then they would be more worthwhile.

Every week we can see a lot of cry babyes posting how disapointed they are with PS+ and about not renewing their PS+, crying about european updates, blablablabla… PS+ is a good service, we pay $50 for year to get a lot of games for almost $5 a month! And if you dont like, stop paying! Don’t say you’ll stop, just STOP, because words dont do nothing, numbers do… Anyway, you wont get your free* games but still, you’ll be able to PLAY ONLINE, or you can go to xbox360 and actually PAY TO PLAY ONLINE, I have both consoles, but this service, we can only see with SONY, about the format of those updates, some times I think the european way its better, because you know everething you’ll get for the next month, but I also like the way our PS+ updates are, every week its a suprise, kind of exciting to wait to see what we’ll get on next week.

meFreeman said:

October 22nd, 2:16 pm

Some of you guys wont like the free* game of the week, but some will love, I dont like some of those free* games I got but, I take they anyway, its kind of a way for you to try it, since you probably wont buy those game, NFL BLITZ it’s one of those game I’ll never buy, since I dont like sport games, and there was a lot of MINIS that wasn’t for me to play, but since I got it for free*, I played anyway, and liked most of those games i got with my time of PS+, I’ll complete 2 years of PS+ on setember 4 and I WILL GET ANOTHER YEAR OF PS+ and I know that almost EVERYONE that complained about PS+ will renew their PS+ as well.

note *: actualy isnt free because you payed around $1 for it, if you consider paying for those auto updates and cloud storage monthly

Nergil said:

October 22nd, 2:20 pm

I don’t care about the free games…i’m not complaining about the content…i just think it’s funny how much worse it’s getting…i actually find it amusing…they can give me whatever and it’s still worth the 50 bucks just for cloud storage and auto updates…i won’t buy stuff on psn for other reasons that have nothing to do with the free games i’m getting…but this month did suck pretty hard

Remember to tell all your friends:

Don’t sign up for US PSN+. Enough of bait & switch tactics. In the beginning of the instant game collection we were fooled to believe there would be decent games available.

Tell all the men: if you are gonna sign, go for the right one, the EU.

A little trivia here:
How does US PSN+ balances Red Dead Redemption and Deus Ex on EU PS+?
With fighting and sports games!

Way to go! Thanks for nothing.

@116: There’s no way to save US PSN+ until they decide to spend some money and be on par with EU PSN+.
If they do as you wish, they’ll still put the crappiest games on any of these categories.

The last game released was Payday. haha That game is a joke!
Before it, NFL Garbage Blitz and a random generic fighter.

Damn it! I regret so much joining this crap.

For those complaining about the pricing of “retail” releases on PSN:

1) You are absolutely correct. The value is much better if you buy it retail. You get the box, the preorder bonuses, get the game earlier, and you can sell it back after you’re done. My solution to this not-so-difficult problem? Buy it retail.

2) Nothing is going to change anytime soon. Sony can’t undercut their relationship with retail like that. They depend on them to get consoles and games into people’s hands.

3) Obviously you see some sort of benefit to a digital copy, or you wouldn’t be complaining. But you aren’t entitled to a certain price. Pay what you think is fair and shop where you want. You may not think the digital pricing is fair, but I assume the digital lovers are still paying it. Sony is catering to the group of people out there that for some reason actually prefer digital content to physical content, and clearly Sony comes out ahead on the deal both in cost and combating second hand sales. But you still aren’t entitled to a digital discount. You may think that Sony is trying to pull a fast one on you by charging the same price as retail (and you’d be right) — so just buy it in a store.

The issue with that as a publisher when you game is 4-10 hours long (typical new non-RPG release), You just gave the PS+ person a free game rental.

Kchow23 said:

I think the sooner that you guys get Gaikai integration the better since it would allow you guys to work out the kinks. A small issue that I’ve been mentioning before but the way that cloud storage is displayed on PS3 is confusing.. if I use up 100 mb of space then it should display 100/1024mb. However, the way cloud storage is displayed… it will tell you that you have 924/1024mb.

I think that plus needs a bigger variety of games. And also I liked more the month update because we knew beforehand what was coming when. Now we have to wait every week. When a month has bad games (to MY taste) like october had it kinda looks worse than if I already knew what would come and then waited for november to be better.

Also will the NFS have a demo for vita?

And another thing: Put an option to pre-order AC3 for the vita only. I will buy AC3 on PC and on vita so I dont want to buy the bundle, but i would pre-order the vita version had it been possible.
