As you may have noticed, the new PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 is now available in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Mexico. Great new features like streaming trailers, improved search, new filter and sort options, as well as improved graphics, more game and video information, and easier access to add-ons are just some of the highlights.

new stores sucks
New store looks great but their are two main issues that really upset me. First is the simple fact that the new store is slow as a snail. I’m on an ISP connection that has only 1.7MB download and 0.4MB upload. The old store worked great regardless of my ISP. This new store consumes so much bandwidth that my PS3 often lags or even almost freezes just from me trying to perform an action or preview a video. In this regard the old store was much better. The second issue that really upsets me and I really hope Sony addresses is the fact that the Facebook integration feature of the old store to me appears totally removed. Why in the world would Sony remove this? This was by far one of the best and easiest ways to share the fact that I got a new game or purchased new download content. Now my Facebook friends no longer have any idea when I get new stuff and I have no idea when they get new stuff from the PSN store. Plus it offered a great way to talk about and comment about Playstation Network content via Facebook. Please I beg Sony to bring this feature back to the new Playstation Store. I can deal with the laggy videos but I’m really upset about losing that Facebook integration thingy.
Guys can’t you give us the option to stick with the old PSN Store? The new one sucks.

Please give us the option to go back… I spent 23 mins in the store trying to find this weeks updates… and just gave up… the old store was easy to get in and get out… I’m willing to pay for the old store…
The new store looks cool but it’s so hard to navigate & get to things you want. You either have to go through many long lists to find specific games or items or a search which can also take up a lot of time. And when you get to what you’re looking for you have to scroll past all of it’s available items to find the specific one you want (in my experience anyway). A good suggestion might be to allow the choice of the old store or the new, or bring back the feature where you could go into the all sections & pick what you want by letters individually and maybe add category tabs to go with each game (add ons,media,avatars,etc.).
Is anyone else actually having problems OPENING the new store?
I just updated, the download was no problem, but now the Store won’t open. I just get an error message, saying there was an error, and asking me to quit and try again. No error code, just the message.
Anyone else see this? Anyone solved it?
I can’t give my opinion of the new store, ever since the update, I haven’t been able to access the store from my PS3, I can still play games online and all, just anything that deals with the store locks up the PS3 and I have to reset it. Great update.
The old PS3 store was so much easier to navigate through. UH! I hate the new PS3 store, you can’t find what you’re looking for quickly. CHANGE IT BACK!!!!!!!
This new store is AWFUL! I haven’t talked to anyone I know that actually likes it, yet! It’s difficult to navigate, slow as molasses (takes, literally, minutes just to open!), nearly impossible to find the things you want, the ‘what’s new’ section is cluttered, with themes, dlc, games, and avatars all thrown haphazardly into the same group. It’s also difficult to type in, having to slowly scroll through letter by letter!
If you insist on shoving this GARBAGE down our throats, at least give us the option to change it back to the old format!
Previously, the store was fast, easy to navigate, easily customizable (list or gird display), movies and games were kept separated, so as not to confuse the two, even the ‘what’s new’ section was designed smart enough to have everything categorized!
Change the store back! Seriously, just look at your feedback here! Take just two minutes and look, you don’t even have to read every post to see that the overwhelming majority HATE this new store!
Wow, the new store looks like a worst version of xbox live. I don’t know if this new store is supposed to be easier to navigate, or sony just thought it was a good idea to go for the more edgy look. But the new store is just terrible. It feels like I”m browsing through a slow mobile store or something. I went into the new arrival section, and everything was just out and open. Sure you can filter, and sort it, but I just wanted to browse through the new stuff. Movies, demos, add-ons were all added in with the game, so when you’re trying to navigate. It’s harder just to find what you’re looking for. I liked it better when the stuff was sorted by game, so there isn’t like 20,000 add-ons just listed on the page, half of which you don’t even care about.
Anybody know a solution for the code 56/code 2 errors where you can’t add cash to the wallet. I’ve tried contacting Sony, with no success. I’m not able to purchase anything from the store because I can’t even add cash.
I hate the new store. I used to easily to do two clicks and see all new releases and they were sorted by category. Now it’s several clicks just to see new releases at all….and then you see EVERYTHING and it’s not sorted at all. I have to then manually add filters just to see what was once super simple to view. I honeslty have no idea how to view what’s on sale for that week. What is a “new release” and what is a “hot new release”???? What happened to “Sales” “Bundle Deals”, etc.???
Also, why does it take 15 clicks to download a demo? Why do you have to go through the whole purchase process. I used to be able to see a demo, click download, and done.
I love change, but this new store is just horrid. It offers a visual overhaul (which is debateable if it’s better) but functionality has gone completely out the window.
Last but not least – Who thought it was a great idea to eliminate a keyboard view and add a giant letter scroll wheel? How is that an improvement? I used to love visiting the store, but now I find myself never looking at it because it is SUCH A PAIN to find anything.
This new store is BEYOND horrible.
I loved the old store, it was easy to get in and out quickly and FIND what you want. I was confused I had to download something.. I thought someone hijack it and was attempting to install a virus or something. After the download I tried to run it and it crashed out and restarted my PS3. Then when I went to try and find the new PS+ game RE5.. I couldn’t even find it. There used to be a menu option on the left side that made it ALOT easier and quicker to immediately find what you want. I’m having flashbacks of how horrible the UI for Medal of Honor: Warfighter was. I can’t seem to find anything, I can’t click on anything on the “Menu” after pressing the triangle button. I try looking for something but there are *NO* categories or anything to look through, What the hell? I would like the old version back or at least an option. Also, why in the hell is it now an app? I loved how it was before.. in and out and it was very fast on everything. Now I’m getting sporadic errors, it tells me the network is not available even thought I REMAIN SIGNED IN. I guess this is good bye to PS+ if this kind of crap is what that money is being spent on.
You know… I’d like to say that the new store is good and all that, but there’s this little fact that I can’t even download it… My internet connection is slow, but is enough to play multiplayer and for DLC downloading (with some patience)… HOWEVER, everytime I try to download the new interface, it says that my connection timed out and the downloaded part is lost… so, as I said, I’d like to see the new interface, but I cannot even use it…
Why do you people at Sony insist on fixing something that clearly wasn’t broken in the first place? The new PlayStation store is just horrible. I am disgusted. Everything is thrown into disarray. What was once quick and easy to use is now a pain in the ass to navigate through. For example…Who’s idea was it to eliminate the simplicity and ease of searching for content based on the games they were released for and instead throw everything into one big list of stupid categories on top of more stupid categories for people to search through until they find what they are looking for? Whoever thought this up has poor organizational skills. This new format is like taking a deck of cards and tossing them in the ocean and saying “find the ace of spades”. It’s unnecessary to break everything up into all these ridiculous categories, then make it so I have to wade through a huge ocean of crap until I happen to find what I’m looking for. I don’t think that anyone was complaining about the old PlayStation Store being an ugly, slow and disorganized mess. So why change it? Now it takes twenty minutes for me to search for an add-on to my game and download it. You guys definitely dropped the ball on this one.
Just installed the new PlayStation Store. I admit it LOOKS much easier to navigate since I never got used to the original having just picked up my PS3 last year. I haven’t used it thoroughly but when I do I’m sure it will be much easier than before.
I feel a tutorial would be appropriate: My first purchase was a tv show, but I could not figure out how to (quickly) view which episodes I already had (like the old red logo) so I had to exit the store as there is no in-store XMB. Custom settings to speed up the checkout/purchase/download process would be nice, I’m an adult, give me a one click purchase/download option.
Well I must say that I love the new store. This was a much needed update. I only have one problem though, all the games that download as a free trial and then purchase, comes up as a free trial again. Which I thought you can only do once. It worked just fine on the old store but the very next day with the new store, it doesn’t. Has anyone else had this issue? I can not currently play the games I bought on the new store.
i swear its like sony doesnt want our money this store is so unorganized and slow that i loose interest in buying anything i honestly never gave the other store a second thought never thought they would change it and now that they did i miss the old store sony listen to you fans as i said before most of us want the old store back why not comply and call it a day we appreciate the effort but there is no need to fix whats not broken
There are a few reasons why I’ve always preferred a Playstation over an XBox, and the Playstation store used to be one of them. Now, it really feels too much like Sony has decided to copy Microsoft’s store design and layout. I’ve had a problem navigating the XBox store ever since they updated their layout. I always thought the Playstation store was more stream-lined and user friendly. Now it takes a lot longer to find what you’re looking for. Instead of going in and easily seeing what’s been added, you have to navigate through clunky menus and put up with even more annoying ads than before. And the one thing that needs to be updated hasn’t been changed — the download list. After years of downloading all sorts of things, these lists are getting out of hand. Why isn’t there a search or sort feature?
Honestly, why would I want to waste my time wading through menus? I’d be much more likely to avoid the Playstation store all together now. Bad design will not get me to buy things all willy-nilly just because they’re in my face.
I just don’t get it. Why ‘fix’ something that wasn’t broken?
I’ve got to say, I don’t care what’s available in the store as a weekly update. PS+ or not ( I should have just let it lapse this week) , I’m not bothering with this nonsense until I know it’s not going to be a waste of my time. No one has 20+ minutes to blow just fiddling around with shoddy UI and redundant acceptance screens just to have your downloads not work.
@comment-#1: i second that. i miss the old Playstation Store also. i could find what i wanted MUCH much easier. Qore episodes, Pulse videos, DLC if i wanted DLC, videos of games and stuff (developer diaries, trailers, you name it), demos of games and stuff, trial “full-games”; pretty much everything.
the new store, yes the search is a bit quicker (it’s already starting to post results after you select just the first letter of the thing you want to find) but it has a lot of flaws: i cannot find Pulse videos anymore, and i CANNOT find Qore episodes either.
as previews reviewers said, all the stuff is mixed (and somewhat disorganized also).
i also miss that in the startup screen, you don’t have the “extremely easy-to-understand” categories that you had before.

i miss that if you wanted to find SPECIFICALLY JUST *NEW* STUFF on ps3, you would look for “new releases” and select that. if you wanted “add-ons” (ie. DLC), you would look for and select that category. if you wanted to find/search something by alphabetical order, you’d go to “search from a to z” (like my cousin taught me. that’s how i could find anything that was posted in the P’s, the Q’s, the A’s, or whatever letter the name of the thing i was looking for started with); etc.
now it’s MUCH more complicated. you just have “games”, “movies”, “tv shows”, and “apps”, which is fine, but what about ALL THE OTHER categories. pictures, videos (video files, movie trailers, game trailers, developer diaries, Pulse episodes, Qore episodes, you name it); you need to bring all that stuff back [Sony] Playstation!!!!
i’m not looking for “movies to download on my ps3 and watch them on my ps3”, i’m not looking for “full games (eg. COD, Crysis 2, Assassin’s Creed, etc) to download onto my ps3” when i could just buy the game-disc [and it takes up less than half the hard-drive space that it would when i download it on playstation-store], i am not looking for anything except Pulse, Qore, and “what is all the available content, for” Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Socom 4, Assassin’s Creed 1, Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, etc. and i used the old Playstation-Store’s “From A to Z” to search for the game i was looking for (by the first letter that its name started with), and then once i find the game (didn’t take me more than a minute, at the very most), i’d see all the things that are available for it. and if i wanted to further filter the content, i’d use the filters. simple, and easy. PLEASE BRING ALL THAT BACK IMMEDIATELY.

I just found out today when I wanted to visit the store. Why they hell did they changed the layout? It’s slow and clunky which makes it harder to navigate, and now it has to load as long a video game?
Is this really permanent as I don’t see the new layout apply to the HK and JP stores?
Personally, I hate it. The app is slow to load, it’s not as straightforward as it used to be, and it’s just plain ugly.
This new design is beyond awful. No by-game filter, no clear way to the download history, all flash and no functionality. Please, PLEASE revert to the old store, this one is about as intuitive as driving a car with a glazed donut instead of a wheel
I actually liked the new store, especially the way searching is done. BUT, I recently found out I can no longer get some of the free videos (an example would be past and present episodes of The Tester). I hope this is a bug and that sony looks into it ASAP – I already opened a ticket at the helpdesk.
This is the absolute worst system I have ever seen. What was broken about the old one that necessitated this? Instead of using whole words to search, this godawful letter system has been implimented. It loads like a turtle, the tiles are huge and hard to sift through. There is no way to sort DLC songs by RB3 and RBN, they’re smashed together and even if you organize them by release, some RBN songs are in between the tracks for RB3. You use to be able to see more on screen at one time. What was the thought process on this? I don’t mean to be flippant, but… this stinks so much.
Personally, I kind of like the new look of the store. After playing with it for a few minutes I can see the attention that was placed in putting it together. My initial concerns with it are
1) I have a slim PS3 and a reasonally fast ISP, but load times and moving from item to item is a bit sluggish.
2) I’m not as young as a lot of the people here, and I appreciate the larger fonts. However, the new menu transparency causes viewing issues, especially the backgrounds for the Spiderman and Skyfall makes things hard to read.
3) The bottom menu (Enter/Back/Menu) is somewhat annoying as an automatic pop-up.. If you were fix it in place and make it a little smaller *plus* include some sort of tutorial section (perhaps something like “[Start] New Here?”) to show how to navigate the new store I’m sure that would eliminate many of the complaints here.
Hi I think the old ps store was better an was well organized an i miss having to type the game i am looking for in the old search bar, instead it’s for movies not games.
Also, too address is there a way to delete the item in my cart? Some reason i was viewing a psp game which i don’t have a psp an somehow it counted as a purchased an not sure why it shows on there? So please add a delete option for it?
Lastly, On the old store i found two playstation collections an i was able to find one, so just to address that there are probably dozen of miss added games that i don’t know about before the changed happen.
So those are the only addresses an also, please add a way to clear the download list for people to clear the games or stuff they have download that they don’t want anymore in the download list? Thanks.
New layout is growing on me…been awhile friends but now back on helgahn after my stint on Pandora…couldn’t stay far from kz3!
I use the Playstation Store for only one thing – purchasing DLC for SPECIFIC games – I don’t want ot be inundated and have to sort through every bit of DLC, by DLC type – I also don’t want to have to use a ‘letter by letter’ awful search method.
I honestly don’t use the service to buy games, watch videos, or do anything you’ve ‘enhanced’ it for – and a store doesn’t need impressive graphics. Function over form, please. I can’t believe anyone thought this store setup was effecient or effective – sure it might show off all the options for people to buy, to try and entice people, but it’s only a frustration. I don’t own half the games I’ve got to sort through material for.
Transmitting all that data to every person who opens the store has got to be expensive. Seriously, consider dialing back the flashiness a little bit, and providing an efficient, easy, in-and-out system rather than a marketplace.

The new store is a massive failure. It’s annoying enough to make me not load it up again so y’all can kiss my plus subscription and anything else I would pay for through the store, goodbye. LAME!
really upset, ive tried talking to you guys on the phone, and no one can help me, ive tried re-installing and deleting several times and cant access the new store at all, im a ps + user and cant dl anything, ive tried everything, i wanted to buy MOH on the store now im gonna have to go to gamestop, my ps3 is only 6 months old, i would like a partial refund for the Ps+ as i cant access anything, patch this up, soon, or im going back to xbox, SONY youve been no help and i used to be a big spender, but cant contribute anymore, ive been furious for 5 days and still no help from any of you. i have 30mb/s internet and took down my firewall, disabled media in internet and went into safe mode rebooted and fixed the HDD as it said and then, still not a damn thing always says error restart application, the money in my wallet is useless, my money and cant buy a single thing now, no support what so ever .

Their needs to be a section like before for add ons categorized by letter of the game. I was searching for Soul Calibur V add ons and actually couldn’t find it, I would have to manually search for it with the search option you provided and it didn’t pop up until the whole words were spelled. Most people won’t search for add ons manually by typing in the letters so I think you should return the categorized add ons by first letter name again or I personally will not bother to browse such a cluttered store and the same with many others. Might i mention it’s super slow. Work needs to be done.
I personally do not like the new format. I never had a problem with the way the store was and it seems slower now. The old store was better, this is not an opinion, it is a fact. There is no aspect of the new store that is an improvement. It is now more difficult to navigate and less visually appealing to me. Please give us the option of using the old store or just scrap the new inferior one.
Using the new store is as enjoyable as sticking pins in your eyes. :(
Has the Playstation Team improved the payment methods on the store to include Visa Debit cards to ensure a more reliable and more pleasurable experience for those of us in Canada? The nearest city that sells PSN cards is over 3 hours away.
So I really enjoy the new store look, but its reaction time is something to be made fun thats for sure. Also, while we can now sort all kinds of areas, you didnt add any type of ‘SORT’ function to the place that needs it most…
OUR DOWNLOAD LIST!!!
I dont know about anyone else, but some of my family have 500, 700, and a couple even have 1000 downloads in their list. This becomes a problem when trying to find one particular download or addon. We have games that arent on the store anymore so our download list is the only way to get them, yet we best be ready (especially with the SLLOOOWWW speed of the new store) to go through one by one by one by one by one by… well you get the picture, right?
Also there seems to be a problem with a few of the COD MW3 addons,,… 16, 17 and a couple more dont have a thumbnail. Tried everything short of formatting my HDD. Dont know if this is a problem due to the new look or if its been this way for a bit. Please do what we pay to have done… YES, we pay with every game we buy and subscription we enter and controller we replace.
To recap… add a sort function to our personal download list, some of us have been asking for this for a bit so we dont understand how its not already a part. Also, check through the individual addons for missing thumbnails… maybe do it from a non-SCEA unit to insure there is not a web based redirect (via EC2 exploitation’s) in place that ignores SCEA IP addresses.
Thanks for the other things you guys do… Im starting to wonder what those are but for some reason (possibly the thousands of dollars me and my family have in SCEA content & hardware), we remain faithful.

I love the new look – its more appealing and has bigger images. I also like the sound effects, which is WAY better than the annoying clicking sound in the old store. I finally don’t have to hear that annoying sound whenever I scroll quickly through the navigation and content.
The only problems I have is the extremely slow start up and the disorganization of content. SCE needs to fix these problems quick!
Worst update ever. The search is awful, instead of writing now you have to slowly choose the letter, wait that it select all games with tah letter and then continue chossing the next one.
It is slower thatn the older store and it look strange, like it was supossed to be in a Windows 8 or an Ipad.
It took me 15 minutes to find a demo the search bar is whack but other then that its pretty cool
p.s. can’t wait till the black ops 2 launch
