The Drop: Week of November 5th 2012 New Releases

On PS3 this week and available for download on PSN, Sackboy returns in a completely new adventure where players’ fast-paced karting skills will be the key to saving the Craftworld universe. Get behind the steering wheel and get ready to race through fun-filled tracks, discover unlockables in open-world environments, and battle in karting arenas filled with pick-up items and LittleBigPlanet-esque weaponry in LittleBigPlanet Karting.

With online cross-platform play and save compatibility between the PS Vita and PS3, a battalion of Viking invaders have landed 1200 years late to the party in a bewildered and bewildering modern day Britain rife with rock ‘n’ roll, polyester, and color television. Unite the townsfolk and fight back against the invasion in When Viking’s Attack.

Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

LittleBigPlanet Karting

(Also on PSN) — Join Sackboy and Sackgirl on the starting grid for a new kart racing adventure! Fire up your engines, jump behind the steering wheel and take on your friends and foes in breathtakingly unpredictable battles through an ever-changing world of content. In order to save the Craftworld universe, players join a fast-paced karting campaign, filled with intense classic kart racing and ultra-competitive arena battles. Beyond traditional racing and battle scenarios are more adventurous driving expeditions, including objective-based missions, boss battles, and mini-games.

On the create side, players can customize their Sackboy, karts, and much more. The new level editor tools will allow players to construct far more than just kart racing games, as they can design their own karting experiences with the ability to make their own game rules, weapons, and tracks that break free from the constraints of a traditional racetrack allowing the imagination to run wild in a completely open environment. Players will also be fully able to share this content with others around the world through PlayStation Network providing access to what promises to be millions of LittleBigPlanet Karting experiences created by the community.

Nascar The Game: Inside Line — Hop in the driver’s seat, buckle up and start your engines for NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. Bringing the true NASCAR experience to consoles, NASCAR: Inside Line will allow players to race with the top NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers, teams and cars, as well as feature all 23 officially licensed racetracks.

When Vikings Attack!

(On PS3 & PS Vita) — In the all-action fighting adventure When Vikings Attack, a battalion of Viking invaders, 1200 years late to the party, are causing havoc in your town! In order to combat them, you form a posse of local citizens — a construction worker, a butcher, a policeman, a pastor, a schoolboy, etc. — and take to the streets together in order to use whatever is on the streets to beat back the invaders. Amass a huge horde and you can work together to rip out phone booths or pick up cars in order to throw massively damaging objects at enemies.

When Vikings Attack features both Adventure and Versus gameplay modes that can be played with one to four players. Adventure players can go through the game’s viking invasion storyline and smash enemies through a crazy storyline of single-player or co-op action. Versus players can play on PlayStation 3 or PS Vita against each other in four-player melee quickfire battles for wild fighting action.

Vanquish — The story of Vanquish is set in the near future. Russia and the United States are vying for ownership of the world’s fast-depleting energy resources and the US has constructed a space station in order to harness energy from the sun. Russian forces capture this space station and divert its harvested solar energy into a blast wave that destroys San Francisco, aiming to force the US into a total and unconditional surrender. In response, the US tasks its armed forces with recapturing the space station before the Russians can annihilate their next target – New York.

Portal 2 — Using a highly experimental portal device, you’ll once again face off against a lethally inventive, power-mad A.I. named GLaDOS. And this time you won’t be alone. Meet an expanded cast of characters as you think your way through dangerous, never-before-seen areas of Aperture Laboratories.

Absolute Supercars — From the racing minds at Eutechnyx comes the definitive auto package for every hardcore driving fan’s wildest dreams: Absolute Supercars! This racing game allows people of all ages and skill to get behind the wheels of some of the world’s most powerful supercars. Take part in quick races, time trials, championships and even an epic Career mode in an attempt to earn the big bucks and fill your Showroom with a cavalcade of stunning motors! From Ferrari, to Pagani, to Aston Martin and McLaren, there’s a car for everyone and a series of stunning tracks to race them on.

PID — PID is a creative, stylish, retro-flavored platforming adventure game designed to turn everything you know about 2D gameplay upside down. You play as a young boy that gets stranded on an old remote planet. He must fight off a variety of malicious robots bent on stopping him and befriend unlikely allies to shed light on a huge conspiracy that keeps the planet mesmerized and prevents him from ever reaching home.

The core feature in PID allows players to manipulate a powerful force that can be used to maneuver around the levels in thousands of unique ways. In PID, two players can experience the adventure together in co-op mode and help one another navigate tricky puzzles.

Toejam and Earl — Funk at last, funk at last, ToeJam & Earl, funk at last! That’s right people, SEGA brings you the game that funneled funk directly from the mothership right here to Spaceship Earth with this downloadable version of the classic Genesis game, provided through the PlayStation Network service.

In 1991, two aliens, Toejam and Earl, were cruising in their Rapmaster Rocket Ship, when ToeJam decided to let Earl drive. Bad move! After crash landing on Earth, ToeJam and Earl began their mission to get back home to Funkotron. Along the way, they traversed this most un-funky planet, avoiding earthlings, hunting down the pieces of their spaceship, and searching for elevators to take them from level to level. In this one- or two-player game, the goal was to find all 10 pieces of the rocket ship, and return ToeJam and Earl to Funkotron.

Toejam and Earl: In Panic On Funkotron — The year 1993 found the popular alien duo ToeJam and Earl on their home planet of Funkotron. Unknowingly, as they left earth for their return voyage to Funkotron, their cargo included a hoard of earthling stowaways. Because earthlings disrupt the Funk balance on Funkotron, the objective was to capture all the earthlings in jars, and ship them back to earth in rocket ships at the end of each level. This side-scrolling adventure for the Sega Genesis took advantage of a completely new layout and graphics engine, and developed a second generation of loyal fans.

Rygar: The Legendary Adventure — The story of Rygar begins with the Island of Argus being plagued by evil Titans. Armageddon has spread over the land, creating chaos as volcanoes, earthquakes, and monsters ravage the countryside. In mankind?s darkest hour, a hero rises from the ashes to defeat the Titans, rescue the princess and restore order to the land. The player will become Rygar and his legendary adventure will begin.

The actions of Rygar rely heavily on the use of his almighty Diskarmor, the hero?s weapon of choice in the game. The yo-yo like Diskarmor is one of the most important elements of the game. Created by gods, the Diskarmor is not just any weapon, it is an essential survival tool and divine instrument for the brave hero. The spiked razor shield will be used for attack, defense, and transportation.

  • Nice Drop!! Any news if Black Op’s 2 will get a Day 1 digital?? Was hoping for a preorder Tuesday.

  • All that’s nice, and I’m sure I’m not going to get a response on this, but what about Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus? The US 360 version came out two weeks ago and the Japanese PS3 version came out last week. Any word on this title?

  • At last some break for vita n for my money too
Only viking is available guess I ll wait next week for COD
Really hope it will be a decent game after all the bashing

October was a very nice month indeed for vita
Every week I must speed pmy play through to be able to play most of the game released

  • hope i can find this stuff in the new store,,,what a mess,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • When do we get the email for the 20 dollar voucher from oct?

  • Cool, Toe Jam and Earl 1 and 2 in HD, haven’t played 1 since i was a young kid, downloaded 2 on wii a few years ago. Rygar on the PS2 is actually quite decent. My brother borrowed a friend’s copy and he and I enjoyed it. It IS short but has some replay value to it if I’m not mistaken. But it will probably cost $10 which is a fine price (in my opinion) for a short game.

  • Rygar!!!!

  • @8 i heard it is between 11/19-11/26 if i’m not mistaken, just in time for Ratchet and Clank, FFA.

  • OH MY GOD TJ AND EARL!!!!

  • Now thats a Classic…I still have my hard copy so most who don’t, should pick it up. Vanquish is also a solid game. Where did LBP Karting come from ??? Did not know it was getting released this soon. Where are my Vita games ?

  • meh…nothing interesting for me except Vikings attack. There should be a free Plus game this week at least. :/

  • As a suggestion, u guys should add the memory size to the digital games for this blog. So that way, people can still decide if they want to pre-order a retail copy especially those with great deals such as Release Day Shipping for a $1 for some new release games on Amazon.com Also a good way for some gamers to plan ahead their memory size.

  • Also JUST curious, does Sony send gifts to people on their birthday because my 23rd birthday is tomorrow and I’m wondering if I’ll get an email with a gift such as a 1 month trial of PS PLUS or something.

  • And please let tuesday be the start of the PS Plus program on Vita. Would love to get some discounts on Vita games. Only have two so far, Ragnorak and Gravity Rush.

  • PID looks very interesting with its unforgiving platforming. I’m glad there’s a demo to try it out.

  • I want to know

1 where are the new DAY 1 games?
2 where is the PS PLUS FOR VITA!!!!!!!
    3 something about guilty gear??
4 I expend 100usd, when we get the 20usd gift?
5 What we get this month related with the instant collection (games, discounts, etc)

    help me please

on the other hand I have many troubles with NEAR on my vita . . . the system dont detect my position (same with google maps)

  • Nothing for me

  • I remember being pissed off at how incredibly short Vanquish was when i first played it, considering it was charged at full price and had no multiplayer. The game itself wasn’t good enough to warrant that price either.

It was decent though. I think $14.99 is a great price point for it on psn considering the limited amount of value it has.

  • Wow, at this rate, all we REALLY need for Genesis games is Sonic 3 and Knuckles (and maybe Knuckles in Sonic 2 and Blue Sphere), and between the PSN releases and Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, I think we’ll have all the MAJOR Genesis titles.

  • i also would like to see the list of day 1 games for november. Hopefully you guys say the criticism of the first attempt and have decided to improve it.
Either with actual midnight releases for the games, pre-order bonuses that retailers received, or a REAL discount on the games (not that lame 10% Plus discount that you didn’t even add for all of the day 1 games).

Black Ops 2 and PS All Stars on psn with pre-order bonuses and midnight releases would make this entire program worth it. :)

  • Any word on PS+ for Vita? Heard we should hear something this week.

  • Any word on the new ps+ game? EU got Crysis 2, so I’m hoping we get something good (although that hasn’t been the case lately)

  • where is sleeping dogs? i thought that was supposed to come out this tuesday. i was so excited to get it.

  • @22 yeah i already have the Ultimate genesis collection on disk, so these old genesis games coming to psn don’t appeal to me. But i really wish Sega would discount Sonic Generations. I think $30 is too much considering the prices you can get it on disk.

  • Whoa wait what LBP Karting is coming out this week?

Where’s the ads!? I thought we were still like half a year away im actually shocked haha man…
You guys really need to advertise your stuff that’s crazy

  • Like there hasnt even been any news about it on any gaming sites theres nothing…

  • @16 no they don’t. my birthday was the 19th of last month and i received nothing from Sony.

  • PID looks awesome. Definitely gonna have to pick that up.

  • Nothing for my tastes this week. Oh well back to RE6.

  • Please put a Street Fighter game.

  • Another great drop. I really love PSN this time of year. Enjoying the hell out of Okami HD!

  • Hey so what about ps plus on the vita, im thinking you guys were bluffing about it being in November I hope its soon, throw out some info on it at least

  • I was halfway on Rygar back then but GoW changed my priorities. Nice surprise!

  • They don’t start announcing PS+ content until the first Monday of every month. So expect something tomorrow.

  • I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve been having some problems with my downloads from the PSN lately just freezing for a while and then starting back again. Ive checked everything possible on my end though

  • Magic the Gathering 2013 Deck Pack 1 comes out this week for those that dont know.

    R/W and U/G decks.

  • So I read up top that we’d get $20 email between 19-26th. Hope thats true, I must have missed the post about it. Be nice if you can tell us (IF u haven’t). Leave us wondering what the heck is going on.

  • @27 CHECK AMAZON.COM for sonic generations, it is $15 plus change when i checked earlier, NEW

  • @41 thanks

  • I think the vita ps+ service is the 20th, man i got my hands full with xcom nfs re6 doa5 dishonored……. BLAR!!!!!
And i still wanna get Hitman and Persona 4………

when do we get our twenty bucks?

  • Why when a Capcom and/or a Sega Genesis collection comes out, they only put games on it specifically from Capcom or Sega? There is do many classics I would like to play that aren’t from just those two. For instance anybody remember Classics like Eternal Champions, Chakan:The Forever Man (remember that hard game?), Zomies Ate My Neighbors, etc. and For Super Nintendo, Out of This World? that was such an original and great game!

  • Wake Up club on PSVITA!!! WHERE IS IT????????????????????????????? The summer is over and it’s still, STILL, not out yet. :(

  • Personally, I am excited for both Toejam and Earl games! I played the heck out of those when I was kid.

To everyone asking when the 20 dollar credit for the October promotion will come, both Morgan and Kristine have commented numerous times that it should come somewhere on or between 11/7 – 11/9.

  • hey Rey Gutiterrz you forgot to add Dragon Ball Z Budoki HD collection becuase that’s coming out on November 6th (this Tuesday)

  • Toejam & Earl are must have games

but where are the PSone classics?

  • Where is guilty gear

  • “When Vikings Attack”!! It will be awesome!!! I can’t wait

And I want the “Ecolibrium”.! On the US PS Store!
    Where is it?!
(thank God now we all have “Frobisher Says”!) kkkk
