Morgan Haro's Avatar Posted by Community Manager, PlayStation Digital Platforms

Oh hey, November. Almost didn’t see you there with all of your fall colors, national holidays, and general autumn revelry. While the temperature may be dropping, Plus is getting ready to deliver some great content. We’re happy to kick off this month with Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, free for PlayStation Plus members! There’s more to discuss of course, so read on to get info on all the goods.

Don’t have PlayStation Plus? Go to the PlayStation Store on your PS3 or click here to get access.

November 6th PlayStation Plus Update

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition

Free for Plus Members

This version of the original acclaimed Resident Evil 5 expands on the action-packed gameplay by including 2 extra episodes, one of which features Chris Redfield with series veteran Jill Valentine, along with extra costumes, content, and more. Of course it comes with the complete Resident Evil 5 story; playable solo, or via local or online co-op. If you haven’t tried one of the best Resident Evil titles this generation, now is your chance.

Portal 2

30% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $19.99, PS Plus Price: $13.99)

One of 2011’s best titles and on multiple ‘Game of the Year’ lists, Portal 2 is coming to PSN and is coming in at a steal of a price for Plus members. Navigate ground breaking environment-based puzzles based on moving your character through a series of self-generated portals while experiencing the game’s outstanding story. This release also coincides with a patch for the game that enables PlayStation Move support as well!

Portal 2 In Motion

30% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $9.99, PS Plus Price: $6.99)

So you wanted more Portal? PlayStation Move owners get the exclusive slice of cake with Portal 2 In Motion. The new addition to the series introduces new gameplay mechanics; including scaling and rotation of objects as well as portal surfing. These new abilities are all required as the player progresses through an increasingly challenging set of test chambers, but require new thinking to solve.

When Vikings Attack (Cross-Buy on PS Vita and PS3)

30% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $9.99, PS Plus Price: $6.99)

Another PlayStation Network exclusive; this dynamic adventure features fast-paced battles pitting up to four co-operative players against the Viking hordes, and maniacally competitive “Versus” arenas where players can test their skills against friends. With online cross-platform play, and a certified Cross-Buy game where buying it on one device entitles you to downloading it on the other; Plus members will be getting the best deal on this one-of-a-kind PlayStation experience.
ABSOLUTE SUPERCARS (Only available in US)

20% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $9.99, PS Plus Price: $7.99)

If you’re looking for an accessible racing game that still beats with the heart of some of the world’s audacious supercars, look no further. From Ferrari, to Pagani, to Aston Martin and McLaren, there’s a car for everyone and a series of stunning tracks to race them on.

It’s a jam-packed lineup this week, and there will be plenty more to come throughout the month. Before we go, let’s take a look back on some of the content we released in October and get your thoughts on what hit you the best.

Wonder if this happened in EU. I went to dl the game and it charged me, called the number and told the rep it would overdraft my debit card, rep acted like they did’ not care, don’t think i’ll be renewing.

id also just like to say something, i totally agree with u, and to the person that was defending the plus program, this is why we get angry, no one takes responsibility and we are constantly lied to and misinformed, or suckered into subscribing after E3 and then sony going away from things, we are sick of it, its not entitlement, its being lied to. This is what MS and activision have been doing for years and it angers me that nothing ever changes- thats my two cents.

Hopefully some one will see this from the blog. Resident evil, is trying to take my money, even thought it says it is free. Trying to take 30 bucks.

Skiedragon81 said:

nikolis44 said:

ok its free for me now, but my opinion still stands… fix it Sony, tired of the runaround…

@454 That’s bogus man. I hope they reimburse you pronto. Im having the same problem as the rest of you. Perhaps it has something to do with the late update. Hopefully Sony can fix this ASAP.

Wow, I mean wow. I am constantly amazed at how bad Sony still is at online services but the last few months have been slow-clap pathetic.

-Tuesday updates that run from late, to really late.
-No midnight releases for Day I digital.
-a new store design that has inexplicably removed the ability to easily see all of the most recent week’s updates. (Buried three menus in and requires another click on sort to change from A-Z to Newest-Oldest) prettier does not equal better.
-A week into November and we do not have our 20$ credit for spending $100 in October nor do we know when we will get it. Oddly, they have instead confirmed when the credit will have to be used by, Dec 9.
-And now this little screw up with RE5.

At this point point we can only hope they put more effort in building the online infrastructure for the PS4 better then this mess.

greasesman2 said:

If you guys are still having the problem with it trying to charge you or it not downloading try turning your ps3 off and back on now. i just did that and it worked for me it was trying to charge me before i restarted it.

KageKaze20 said:

November 6th, 6:07 pm

I can’t seem to get RE5 for free -_- and I’m a PS+ member.

ZiKaRiO_787 said:

November 6th, 6:09 pm

@454 I bet my ps3 system that you are not alone, try to get that refund and don’t give up, I smell like this was a bit intentional to charge people “accidentally” hoping many of them would not pass over the hazardous 50 minutes Sony support phone hold lol.

Capn-Clank said:

November 6th, 6:11 pm

Im not getting RE 5 Gold for free :/ it wants me to charge full price

Brynngar said:

November 6th, 6:12 pm

Okay I have done some reading and its daylight bloody savings time, It screws with the update every time.

Capn-Clank said:

November 6th, 6:17 pm

okay yay I has it now :D

ZiKaRiO_787 said:

November 6th, 6:18 pm

Well time to give up lol not turning on my PS3 until the weekend if I ever get bored, at this step I feel like the plus actually does not give me the motivation to play as I expected, so if this keep to be like it is I will just not renew it and keep buying full games I really want, afterall my hd is almost full. Call me a hater or whatever you “Sony employees” wanna call me but I would actually spend more money for something I want than spending for a [?] box that 80% of the time brings disappointment.

KageKaze20 said:

November 6th, 6:19 pm

I just got it to show up ass free…. had to keep exiting and entering the store.

DanielRockenbach said:

November 6th, 6:20 pm

RE5 for free! Not… It try to charge me as soon as I go to checkout. Great job Sony!

TheVictoreem said:

November 6th, 6:21 pm

I wanted to download the One piece game with the discount, but it was gone after the actualization, then my little brother downloaded RE5 seeing it was free, so I lost $30.

spotless316 said:

November 6th, 6:26 pm

Still not free for me.

IM2WestCoast said:

November 6th, 6:27 pm

People complain too damn much if you had a doubt get online like i just did and figure out if there is an error before doing something. I do think that those who bought it on accident should get a refund tho. Glad I came to check before I downloaded on accident :)

Skiedragon81 said:

November 6th, 6:30 pm

guys of u tried to buy it earlier before they fix it clear it out of ur cart and then retry to get ot thats what worked for me.

LDMonty said:

November 6th, 6:31 pm

Just like everyone else, when I try to download RE5 it asks for $29.99. I just KNEW that after all this time, it would have been straightened out…..shows what I know.

Tsupi_Az said:

November 6th, 6:37 pm

I had the 1 hour trial and when I went to the store to download for the unlock it did not say it was unlocked for me all I kept getting was a can not download now. But then I decided to try and use the 1 hour trial to go into the store that way, and when I did that the game just started up for me and all trophies unlocked. That was a little confusing that the store does not inform you that it was unlocked and I spent an hour going to the store trying to download the unlock.

Give us the old store back!!!

islankleinknecht said:

November 6th, 6:49 pm

So, is RE5 free or just a 1-hour demo? I must say, I am rather disappointed if it’s just a timed trial, as this blog post was rather misleading.

spotless316 said:

November 6th, 6:56 pm

Finally mine went through free!

Tsupi_Az said:

November 6th, 7:12 pm

No RE5 Gold is free,
it’s just once you know what game is being released on the Monday blog post. if there is a 1 hour trial you can download that on Monday and then on Tuesday when the store updates you can just unlock the full game so you do not need to wait to download the full game on Tuesday

islankleinknecht said:

November 6th, 7:14 pm

But it is Tuesday, and RE5 Gold is listed as a recent add to PS Plus.

Tsupi_Az said:

November 6th, 7:21 pm

That just means it was recentley added to plus, it will be in the new section as well as the free games section of plus

islankleinknecht said:

November 6th, 7:25 pm

But when I select it, it just gives me the option of downloading a timed trial, or buy it for $30.

I guess I’ll look again tomorrow to see if it’s working properly, then.

Tsupi_Az said:

November 6th, 7:29 pm

like others have said and done you might try and restart your system and then reopen the store again.
I had the timed trial and then had to just unlock it through the store.

xGuUdAxCOAx said:

November 6th, 8:19 pm

how can i clear my cart…it keeps asking for $30 bucks

Tsupi_Az said:

November 6th, 8:34 pm

there is a small x next to the image in the cart you need to highlight that and press the x button

SoleAddict23 said:

I find PlayStation Plus to be great and will subscribe as soon as I get a PlayStation 3 again but all the automatic updates and cloud saves should be free to all PlayStation Network users. Unless proven that it can’t be no way no how but considering how it’s free on Steam I don’t see how it can’t be free on PlayStation 3. You’re just giving more reasons for people to step away from PlayStation 3 and go elsewhere.

Tsupi_Az said:

November 6th, 8:53 pm

For Playstation to give everyone free auto updates and cloud storage they would have to copy X-B*X and charge you for online use just to make up the money they would have to spend on servers and the people to maintain those servers. So you would have to pay $50 bucks a year anyways so its better to have plus with it’s free-use games.

I guess you could contact Sony and get a real answer, this is just my thoughts on the subject.

gnomekingofpain said:

November 6th, 9:52 pm

I can understand charging for cloud storage, although more and more services are providing free cloud options, but linking auto updating to a paid service has never made sense to me.

How about Gran Turismo 5 or Midnight Club Los Angeles Edition? to Appeal the Race Fans and to give

This was a Fantastic Update I nearly fell out of my chair when I herd the news. You people need to stop being rude PS + Staffers are trying to help us aquire only the best for our Instant Game Collection. Perhaps you trolls should just get a gamefly account and leave Plus to more Civilized Americans like myself. I want free games considerings it’s gonna cost me money to keep my account. As long as Plus is trying I’m happy with their efforts. List of Games I would like to see Hit Plus. I’ve compiled a List being an Expert Gamer of mutiable Game Genras which I think are old enough to not hurt the Economy or hurt Sony if they gave these away to Plus Members that also deserve the Right to be on Plus’s Ultimate Instant Game Collection. This is what the people really want, many may have these but it’s worth the Gamble. I thought I would give some suggestions incase the uppers wanted to know what the typical game plays and or wants to play.

Also can we get a edit comment button like EDIT within 10 mins…That would be good for the site and community.

Yeah Alot of Zombie Games in this List. Cause we aren’t that far off from a Zombie Apocalpyse. Maybe you people should research who makes Spice and these Mysterious Bathsalts Drugs. Not to entice you to buy but to educate you on exactly how close the Shadow Government. opps spoil alert =) are close to Making a reallife Zombie Virus. The only thing they can’t do is make it Rapidly Deployable and Contageous yet…yet is the keyword here. The Evil in Us will be the Catalyst on how dangerous the Transmutation will become. If we ever hope to survive such a horrific event we must know learn how to Surive in the Wilds, These Games I mentioned help us all just in case. He must be acknowledgeable in Conventional Weaponry, Home Defence and Desensitized enough to Horrific and Graphic Gore. Those who are not Mentally stable enough to it if it was to happen will be first biten. Besides Fat people who walk or run slow and the occasional Couple who watched Titanic to many times or something. haha. No better way to deal with Overpopulation am I right? ehh…Think about it, Yea. Have a Plan Z all of you.

For those who are having problems downloading Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition on PS+ :

STEP 1 : Highlight the game and press X on its price to buy it. The price is $29.99 but it doesn’t matter.

STEP 2: When you see the screen where it says “Proceed To Checkout” press on the CIRCLE button to go back.

STEP 3: Look at your cart. It says there is one item. View the items in your cart, highlight the “X” icon for Resident Evil 5 and press X to remove this game from your cart.

STEP 4: Select the game again in PlayStation plus free games and this time the game will be available for free when you press X on it.
