During Tokyo Game Show we announced that PlayStation Plus would be coming to PlayStation Vita in November. We are excited to reveal that PS Plus will be available on November 19th as part of the next PS Vita System Software Update (v2.00).
I teamed up with Ray Bautista, Product Manager of Digital Platforms Strategic Planning to give you a sneak peek at the Instant Game Collection for PS Vita and all of the benefits and features that PS Plus has to offer. Today I’ll walk you through some of the other new features you can look forward to with the system software update, including an email app, the ability to transfer content wirelessly between your PS Vita and PC, and enhancements to the web browser.
With the addition of PS Plus, and such a great lineup of exclusive games launching by this holiday, now is the perfect time to purchase a PS Vita.
As Ray mentioned, PS Plus will offer exclusive discounts and bonus features for both PS Vita and PlayStation 3 members. In addition to online storage for game saves, automatic updates and Trophy synching, PS Plus members will get access to the Instant Game Collection, a constantly updated library selection of games, starting when the PlayStation Store updates on Tuesday, November 20th.
Once you update your PS Vita to v2.00 and PS Store publishes next Tuesday, PS Plus members will be able to download the Instant Game Collection, which includes PS Vita games Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio HD, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush and Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!, as well as (PSP) PlayStation Portable hit Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.
Don’t forget that PS3 users with an existing PS Plus membership will be able to enjoy PS Plus features and services on both PS3 and PS Vita systems at no additional cost. You will be able to choose between the two subscription options — a three month plan for $17.99 and a one year plan for $49.99.

WOWOWOWOWOW! I’m usually the one who complains about Plus, but what a great selection! Really impressed, never thought we’d get games like Uncharted.

Perfect timing for me. I live on a US base in Japan so I am able and decided to order the blue Vita off of amazon jp. Will get here this weekend (shipping here is godly, even free). Thanks for making your stuff region free! I don’t know what I want to buy for it yet, but wanted to make sure to get this blue one before I leave in a few months. These PS+ games will be a great start!

I’ve been hesitant on signing up for Plus back when it was only on PS3 since I’ve already played most of the games offered. But now that I just got a Vita.. this is truly excellent. I was only expecting 1 or 2 games at most – but you guys went above and beyond. Getting a 1 year subscription asap. Thanks!

You know, I was really on the fence on buying a Vita. When I saw you were doing the IGC for Plus I decided to throw caution to the wind and bought that White Assassins Creed Bundle. Thanks for making my investment pay off. It’s a cool feeling to know that I have 4-5 new games to compliment AC. Awesome. Thanks for proving me right for believing in Plus and Vita. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my Plus experience and look forward to remaining a member.
As an aside, I hope you will think about throwing more themes our way. I haven’t really seen any new ones for a while. Of course games are a priority but I’d like the occasional theme…and maybe a pumpkin avatar ;)
Question for the Psn team-when will Sonic Generation be available for the VIta?
How many weeks will be your initial game collections will last? Because some of the free PS3 games are still there for a couple of months like Infamous 2..
Awesome way to get great Vita start up screen savers- during gameplay of your favorite game,ie- Uncharted/ Need for Speed/ Street fighter X TEkken. Take a screen shot during gameplay and add it to your vita start up screen. Press ps button & Start button at the same time to take screen shots….
Gravity Rush and JSR makes this worth it right away. The other games too are awesome but I already have them. Once again, MS can learn a thing or two. Keep it up guys.
All I need to see is a good Vita deal on Black Friday and it is on. Sony how about a $199 deal with a decent sized memory card

Yea, I’ll double check, but I think he is right about the download list. Though when you once again re subscribe, all is once again visible. I was in panic the first time, thinking I had all the demo’s/trials and could not download the unlocked keys next time because I lapsed. Turned out as I mentioned, I never had to re download anything anyways.
@367 – Most likely it will function the same way, keeping maybe Uncharted and Gravity Rush as an incentive for new subscribers and changing the others.
Own them all, except the obvious one since it hasn’t come out yet.
I own nearly every Vita game of interest to me though so it’s not a big deal. I’m more into save storage, and discounts for Vita.
How much will last the initial game colection? I want to subscribe, But I still dont have the money…

Make bigger memory cards. 32 GB is still not enough to add my movies, music, and games. I don’t care if I have to pay 200 dollars or more. Make it happen. Limited quantities if you have to.

Will there ever be a chance that the Vita may get an update that will allow more apps icons on the vita home than just the max of 100? I have tones of games but no more room for apps. Yes, it is possible to pass 100 apps when you have a 32 gb memory.

Uncharted, Wipeout, Blobs…WoW! I’ve been trying to trade for Uncharted for the last month but nobody wants to part with it…lucky me, I’m getting it for FREE :-) Keep up the great work, I’m glad I hung on to the VITA.

This is amazing news! I just got a vita this past week and I was about to get Uncharted. Also, no email app was a complaint so the update will be great for me. Now, my only complaint the expensiveness of the memory cards. Any chance of those ever seeing a price cut?
2 months ago I got a vita, 2 days later you announced PS+ for Vita and today I LOVE YOU. I have waited on everything to see what was going to be offered and now it has all paid off. Everything I wanted is in there. !!! Now I can take that money I saved and get a bigger memory card (which still need to be cheaper)

Awesome! been wanting gravity rush, and I was honestly pissed about the delay of JSR HD. I ended up buying it on my 360 instead because of it, but awesome getting it free! Plus FF Tactics, Uncharted and Tales from space! Doesn’t get much better. I do Have one question and please, please answer. If I let my PS+ lapse, but then renew, will I have access to the games I got before I let my PS+ lapse? Or just the games released since I renewed? No one can seem to provide an answer. My PS+ expires the 17th. :(

Hey, I’m sure its already been asked and answered but I was wondering if the cloud storage for the vita side would be separate from the PS3 storage? I’m hoping so, because I haven’t had a chance to get a bigger memory card for the Assassin’s Creed III vita I got yesterday. My cloud on the PS3 side is almost full so I’m hoping that I will have more space without losing the saves that I already have.

This just may push me to stand in line at some retail store on black Friday evening and buy your Vita system. Nice job Sony. Also, I will echo on lowering those proprietary memory sticks & creating higher storage sticks. If you are pushing people to buy digital, it would be best to expand your customer’s options. I bought my PSP 3000 2 years ago. To date, I bought 5 games and 5 movies on UMD. All of my other purchases for the PSP have been digital, which I prefer given all of the stories that I heard about the UMD reader failing within a year. Furthermore, I strongly feel that every thing from the PSP store should be available on the Vita store. I’ll be a plus member again, after I get the Vita. Currently, I have games that take way to much of my time…
