PlayStation Plus for PS Vita Available Next Week – Take the Tour

During Tokyo Game Show we announced that PlayStation Plus would be coming to PlayStation Vita in November. We are excited to reveal that PS Plus will be available on November 19th as part of the next PS Vita System Software Update (v2.00).

I teamed up with Ray Bautista, Product Manager of Digital Platforms Strategic Planning to give you a sneak peek at the Instant Game Collection for PS Vita and all of the benefits and features that PS Plus has to offer. Today I’ll walk you through some of the other new features you can look forward to with the system software update, including an email app, the ability to transfer content wirelessly between your PS Vita and PC, and enhancements to the web browser.

With the addition of PS Plus, and such a great lineup of exclusive games launching by this holiday, now is the perfect time to purchase a PS Vita.

As Ray mentioned, PS Plus will offer exclusive discounts and bonus features for both PS Vita and PlayStation 3 members. In addition to online storage for game saves, automatic updates and Trophy synching, PS Plus members will get access to the Instant Game Collection, a constantly updated library selection of games, starting when the PlayStation Store updates on Tuesday, November 20th.

Once you update your PS Vita to v2.00 and PS Store publishes next Tuesday, PS Plus members will be able to download the Instant Game Collection, which includes PS Vita games Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Jet Set Radio HD, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush and Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!, as well as (PSP) PlayStation Portable hit Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.

Don’t forget that PS3 users with an existing PS Plus membership will be able to enjoy PS Plus features and services on both PS3 and PS Vita systems at no additional cost. You will be able to choose between the two subscription options — a three month plan for $17.99 and a one year plan for $49.99.

For more information on System Software Updates, please visit this page, which will provide additional details on v2.00 when the update goes live.

  • This is just what I’ve been waiting the PSN on Vita to be. Great start up, let the free stuff coming! BUT (rest assured it won’t be a complaint!) will it be enough to bring on up the Vita? I miss a ton of support from developers, which is sad, since the Vita is actually my favorite portable system but the least I play on. I really want games from the PSN to be compatible with the Vita, and it is viable, having VF 5 FS, Daytona, Jorney, Unfinished Swan, Marvel Vs Capcom Origins, Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim, well, you got the idea, it would make just the system soar. The PS Vita is made for these games. They are for instant play. No compromise. I want Double Dragon Neon, I want SSF2HD Remix. I want After Burner Climax.

That being said, only one game is missing on this start up lineup: Ridge Racer Vita. Maybe next month!

  • Do the PSP games for PSN VIta + also work on PSP?

  • how many games are we getting a month for vita ?
how will this affect the 3 free games we get with ps3 ?

  • Crap!!

I’m gonna need a bigger memory card.

  • EIUPaladin356-Some PSP games are available for download directly to the Vita from it’s own store, with more becoming compatible often. Also, some games can be downloaded to the PS3(kept in bubble state), then installed to Vita USB cable. I do not have the list of games compatible. Lastly, Vita games can not be posted on Vita. I hope that helps you.

  • wow I don’t have any of this games. I cant wait until next week. Thanks Sony.

  • @402 – yes.. at no extra charge..

i already tried this with a current psn psp game offered on plus – super stardust delta

  • Very very cool. Keep up this kind of line-up and I’m yours, all yours!

  • I just bought gravity rush on psn last week for $35 :(

  • Typo-posted
    I meant played lol

mainkster-The Vita section of Plus is an additional selection for Plus members to benefit from. The PS3 section will not be effected by this

  • sorry, in my previous comment that should have said ‘super stardust portable’..
and i’m not sure if every ps store is the same with that game being offered for free for plus members..

but the point remains the same.. you can also use the psp games as part of ps plus membership on your psp

  • @409 Contact their customer service, I’ve seen Morgan tell others a few times that they can review it. That doesn’t mean it’ll go in your favor but you never know, you might get lucky.

  • Lmao! Typo
Vita games can not be played on *PSP*

    Why…
I thought EIUPaladin356 was curious about that.
    Ok moving on now. ~,~

  • This is a great way to convince people to get a Vita if they already own a PS3 and PSN+.
    Keep it up!

  • Awesome update Sony! Now is the perfect to but a Vita. With the Plus update and the Black Friday sales of the Vita, don’t miss this opportunity.

  • 500 posts…?
I wonder if the store gets an update tonight.
My bread is ready for toasting!

  • I am sick of this. From now on i want people from ps + to look at my trophy wall and only give me free games that I do not have. You keep giving away free stuff and it is stuff I have. Can’t you give me games I don’t have? How hard is that? I’m going over to ps + in Bangladesh because they care about their customers and actually listen to the people who post on their blog.

Hahaha just kidding. I love when people complain because the FREE game is something they own or aren’t interested. I don’t see the fine people at “the full circle” giving things away for their “subscription service”. I only own uncharted from this list and I will be trading that in to gamestop for credit as soon as i make sure that my save transfers into the cloud.

  • Cool news.
I am a member of PSN+ Asia. Any news about what’s under the Instant Game Collection over in that region?
Been looking all over the internet but only found the list for US & UK.

    Thanks guys!

  • I don’t have a Vita (yet), so will Jet Set Radio be free for PS3 too, or just for Vita?

  • Are you telling me that Sony doesn’t really read minds after all? I thought they did this on purpose just to piss people off! Hee hee hee…

  • @375 : Flash isn’t going to happen. Deal with it. Got a problem? Go try and convince Adobe to support mobile devices again. HTML5 is better anyway.

  • I got post 420. I’m totally rad.

  • Where do you go check on the Vita if you have PS+ or not? I apply a year card on my vita, but I don’t know if it went through as my Internet cut of at the vital moment >.<

  • If I don’t own a Vita, but get Plus on my PS3, can I still get the free Vita games, even if I cannot play them, so when I buy a PS Vita be able to download them a play them for free with the Plus account?

  • Finally… The bad thing is that I have Uncharted and Gravity Rush…. Well 4 of 6 it’s something, the good think is that I renew my PS Plus subscription last week.

    I think I’ll need the 32GB memory, 16GB won’t be enough.

One question. Where is the PS Store Update? It’s almost 9pm (central) 7pm Pacific.

  • Niice work guys….This should increase some Vita sales for sure.QUESTION!!!!I still have questions about why sony hasn’t encouraged more ip holders to enable remote-play & or cross remote for most of their games.I have seen infamous 2 running on remote-play via a ps vita & a hacked ps3 and it ran perfectly so whats the hold up.Sony has to beat the hackers to the punch. They only hack things because for whatever reason, sony hasn’t promoted the features more.So far we only have about 2 compatible games in both features and we need so much more.I would appreciate any response.

  • Awesome! I hope there’s eventually a “lite” mode for the browser where you can use it (obviously with reduced memory) while playing a game, the same way you can use Twitter, but the browser upgrades look good too.

  • Holy crap! I was expecting some nice things for the PSV+ release, but you just blew my legs out from under me! The only one of these games I’ve played so far is Gravity Rush, so I can barely contain my excitement.

I have to admit, I’d be a liar if I didn’t admit that the fact that the free PSP game is Final Fantasy Tactics makes me even more giddy. I still own my copy of the original PS1 game!

  • I just bought a Vita last week. Looks like I chose the right time! I’m looking forward to all of these great additions.

Also, thank you for not only including the PSP in the lineup, but having the first free game be one of the best titles to grace this Earth. Everyone should have the chance to play Final Fantasy Tactics. I hope you guys continue to have PSP titles in the lineup!

  • This announcement is crushingly epic. I want to get a Sony tattoo

  • Most def upgrading to the 32 gb on thursday, was still on the fence bout getting one, but this pushed me over to the right side :D

  • can’t wait just Need more RPG’s

  • how much file space will the 6 vita games take up ?

  • And to all the non- PS Plus owners, bet you wished you bought a Ps Vita now LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My normal/optimistic side is thinking: WOW!!!! Good God!!

    My less optimistic side:
Of those games I have UC:GA and Wipeout.

So if I get plus I still get

    1. Gravity Rush ($35 value though I was going to wait till it hit at least $20 to get it),
    2. Final Fantasy Tactics (which I was thinking about eventually picking up $10 value),
    3. Mutant Blobs whatever that is ($7?) and
    4. Jet Set Radio HD (which I never had a PS2 and I have no clue what that is either or how much it’ll be sold for).

Still in the first month I’d be getting $30-$45 worth of games I was already thinking of getting not including others that may end up being worth while also (this is of course assuming sony didn’t just put up the big games the first month and are going to slack off the rest of the months :P). That leaves many more months to recuperate my “investment”. What’s more is that I get to have downloadable versions of these two games I own which is worth it to not have to keep switching out .

  • Congratulations Sony, you’ve genuinely given me something to be excited about, you also produced a deal that even my “conscious” can’t argue against. The only thing is I feel like I’m ripping you guys off and running away with the money (even though I know I’m not :P). Plus membership, here I come!

Anyone want to help a brother out as to how I would go about activating said Plus membership I do not have a

  • ps3*

  • Hi i have a quick question about future firmware updates. is there any plans to make a update to allow all psp title on psn work on vita in one update. i feel that opening up all psp title on psn would kick off more vita sells and also make existing vita owners happy. i know it would make me happy =)

  • The instant collection games will be available to download through Media Go??

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS , I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THOSE ♥

  • look a new ps3 one too dungeon defenders that snuck in there

  • a laptop ’nuff said

  • awesome, i just bought the Assasins Creed 3 Vita Bundle, and was about thinking about buying uncharted and gravity rush as a christmas present to myself lol, thank you for the early christmas gift ^.^

  • So as soon as you get PS+ for Vita, they give you the launch games that didn’t sell for free and fill your memory card with garbage. Time to buy a 64GB Vita Card for all the free junk since there is nothing coming out for this dead black plastic for the next 6 months.

  • You guys are freaking awesome
makes me so proud to be a Plus member “won’t relinquish my subscription no matter what”

  • Yeees!!! Thankyou Sony. This is what Vita needed. im buying a 32gb memory ASAP

  • what about PLEASE WAIT screen ? is that hard to make loading backround ? its so annoying to see please wait screen after everything you try to open come on sony software guys take action ;)

  • I’ve been wanting to get FF Tactics for a while now but I’ve been waiting for a sale, might get plus for a chance to try out all these games. So far I’ve only got wipeout and lbp for the vita & some psp rpgs. I was wondering though, will downloading FFT this way go away after the plus subscription expires too?

  • This is a tremendous package. It adds a crazy amount of value to the Vita at a very small price. I have been perplexed at a lot of decisions Sony has made in the last few months with the Plus program and their online infrastructure in general (new store front is pretty but less useful then the old one in key ways, mediocre IGC choices, and no midnight updates for day one digital). But a with the line up for Vita Plus and Quantum Conundrum on PS3 this week, Plus is making a serious comeback.

I get that some people are frustrated at already having a lot of the games on the Vita list. But let’s be real, the Vita library is so shallow right now that it is not really possible for them to put together 5 really good games that many early adopters already have played. And giving away Jet Set Radio immediately at release is unarguably awesome. I had been disappointed that the game wasn’t cross buy but that is no longer an issue. Anybody know if it will have cross save? Because JSR really needs cross save.

  • Yeah I’m convinced! Just signed up even though I have gravity rush and TFS:MBA. I was interested in uncharted and kind of want a racing game, plus I’ve heard only amazing things about final fantasy tactics and about how iconic jet set radio is. Those 4 games would be around $80 alone, and with $50 for a year’s service…. Sony knows how to draw people in.

Only downside is maybe I won’t be playing new games like all-stars anytime soon given the new backlog I’ve got :D
