  • My opinion: The main problem with the store is that there’s too many sub-categories. Many of them are quite simply unnecessary.

All DLC for every game should just be attached to the original game, or be sorted alphabetically it’s own DLC section like the old store had. I don’t understand the purpose of having selections like “Levels, Etc.”, “Characters, etc.”, and “Vehicles, etc.”…

  • At everyone…sorry “most people” complaining about the long PS Store startup time, don’t quote me but I believe Grace Chen said in an interview on the Playstation Blogcast that the new store is technically an app which is why it takes so long to start/load.
As for the rest of the store, besides the load times, the only thing I don’t really like is the scrolling keyboard in the search option, that and not having the ability to sort your download list. Other than that, I’ve never really had any problems trying to find anything…

  • @95: Disc Benefits on the PS3 disc, under the game itself in the XMB. Need to have the latest firmware for the PS3 for it to work properly, so make sure you have that.

  • Went to look for some psp games for the vita the other day and I’ve gotta say soul calibur broken destiny and socom fireteam bravo 3 need a price drop. They’re still priced at 39.99, any word on when they’ll get a price drop? I’d assume they’d go down to 20.00 or so and if they did I’d buy them in an instant.

  • @PrimeroIncognito I agree with you about the subcategories thing, but if you click on a game you can view all the DLC for it if you scroll down. And if you scroll down further, you can see other related stuff for it like videos, themes, etc. that’s probably my favorite new feature in the entire store

even if a game gets taken off the storefront, it will still be on your dl list. i purchased rampart, mortal kombat 2, and wheel of fortune (an older version, not the one currently on the store) and they are all still on my dl list.

  • @ BlueBl1zzard

Yeah, it’s not that hard to find anything, I just feel like it’s a little messy compared to the old store’s neatly organized interface. And in the beginning, a lot of stuff was just simply missing, or out of order…

They’ve fixed that now, but I still think there’s too many sub-categories.

  • @ BlueBl1zzard

Yeah I know about that. In fact, that’s how I found out that many items were just missing completely from the new store when it first launched. When I looked at the Pinball Arcade page, only half of the DLC packs were there, while the others could actually be found by using the search function, or scrolling to “Levels, etc.”. Other games had the same problem with their DLC floating somewhere around the store, but not actually connected to the main game. Everything was all scattered about in the beginning. They’ve cleaned that up though. It’s getting better.

  • psn store need fix i cant move or click anything

  • Ni no kuni demo is amazing!

  • Morgan,

Please answer the question, where are the crackle and hulu+ apps for vita that was promised as coming soon at E3 2012?

  • @davionwalker22

it happen to me too. delete the store app and reinstall it. et voilà!

  • Two quick questions:

    1. With our growing game collections on PS+, how long before we can alphabetize our games in the XMB without deleting and redownloading?

    2. Is PS+ no longer offering PSOne Classics and Minis? My wife digs the Minis, and I like playing the games that I never owned during jr. high and high school.

  • Everytime i try to download Bioshock2 it wants to charge me?Help me alleged new store hurts my brain!

  • Who do I need to contact about being charged for downloading Bioshock 2 as a Playstation Plus member? I assumed that, when checking out, the issue would resolve itself, but it does look like my credit card was charged during checkout. I would like to resolve this ASAP.

    • As a general rule for free Plus stuff, if there’s still a price listed when you checkout DO NOT continue through the transaction. If you were charged you can contact customer service for a refund.

      PHONE 800-345-SONY

  • Hey awesome update, but quick question please answer, when will I be able to play Soul Reaver on my Vita, i got it on PSN played it on my PS3 and PSP but I can’t on my PS Vita? I wanna play this game on the go. Thanks!

  • Was considering Fight for Fortune until I read that Day 1 dlc cost more than the game. Day 1 dlc is wrong on so many levels. Its clear that it is content that should be on the game.

  • So sad about that huge chunk of sales being removed. :(

  • @BenTheWicked

“alphabetize our games in the XMB”

ive been asking for this for years. like thousands of peoples here. but never got any reply about that.
they really dont care cuz no one in that companie actually use the ps3, or buy game, and they clearly never use the store… so since they got all game for free they dont care about getting them organized.

i have over 150 games in my 500hd im downloading Mass effect (yes i already have 2 & 3 all on PSN) right now and NONE of them are togheter… i want THEM ORIGANIZED!!
none of my assassins creed games are togheter, my infamous collection, my resident evil collection, both crysis…

please SOMEONE working here if you really care about us. can you please ask the “tech guy” if its possible in next firmware update to be able to sort our games in the XMB by “name/format” hope you can figure what i mean by “name/format”.
    alphabetical sorting / PS3 / PS2 / PS1 / MINIS

and if not can you guys please let me know about it.

  • Dear Grace, Morgan or Kristine,

thanks to anyone who tried to help with the PSone on Vita problem “aka” no realse for over a month

please can you ask those guys setting on higher chairs at sony; WHY no promises kept ? as far as I remember we were promised that every new titles of PSone classic will be made available on vita and every old title will be fixed asap to be made on vita.

so far, only a new titles were fixed to made on vita.

so far, few if nothing at all of new titles were made day on vita and PS3

Till them, the problem right now with Sony is, they are throwing the treasure of backward compatibilities.

We can’t pay Vita games, cos there is not enough high score titles, and yes I tried some of them and they are really not good enough to keep.

So why not give us all PSone classic titles already ?

So why not give s all of PSP titles on PSN store already ?

something for us better that =/ do not punish us with the poor sales. if it is not poor sales is behind the clear drop of PSone support and psp as well ? then what ?

  • I like the new store layout, but I do have one issue. The new release section in DLC section is too long and difficult to browse. I think it would work better if all DLC for a game was one icon that you could click through to see the full list. As it is, I don’t go to the DLC section for new releases.

  • Anyone else having issues with the Uncharted card game not recognizing the Fetishes being collected in Golden Abyss? I platinumed GA, but none of them are popping in the card game, even though everything else has.

  • Disappointed that all those games on sale were removed. I was gearing up to buy 4 or 5 of em. Couldn’t figure out why they were not discounted in the store only to come back here to see you feigning ignorance of them being listed as on sale here. Hopefully they are for next week.

  • (URGENT) Hello!! My playstation plus subscription is about to expire this friday and i’m wondering if sony going to have an special offer or discounts like the passed year?? Please this is very urgent my subscription is about to expired!!

  • I will be so grateful if you guys answered briefly, thanks.

  • @Cyb3rfr34k-iso,

I just installed a 1TB hard drive (following the PlayStation Support Guide and dealing with an agonizing 36 hours of backup and restore) and downloaded all the games I own. The best I can do is custom organize in folders, but like you said, games don’t stay together. My Back to the Future 1 is separated from the rest of the episodes, and my Final Fantasy are split by other F-titled games. Also, I hate having PS3/PSN games sitting next to Minis. If they were in true alphabetical order, I wouldn’t mind, though.

It’s sad that the only way to get true alphabetical order is to hack and jailbreak a system, something that I know won’t end well for me if I pursue. If I want to lose my PSN account, I don’t want it to be over organizing my game collection!

But the saddest thing to all of this, is the fact that no one on the support team seems to care. Whether I contact through Twitter or through email, I get the same response: “Sorry, but the PlayStation can’t do that. Delete all of your games and redownload them in reverse order.”

I’m willing to offer them help for free; I know my ABC’s, and I’m willing to write them out for the XMB team.

  • I picked up the disc version of Mass Effect Trilogy and am very excited to finally be playing them! I also hadn’t heard of Page Chronica before now but it looks intriguing, I might pick it up.

  • Oh, and thank you for Bioshock 2 for PS+! The first game in the past several months I’m actually pretty excited about playing :D

  • @BenTheWicked

u know what u mean. i redownload all my 150+ games not long time ago when my HDD corrupted when trying to install catherine (hopefully i saved ALL my saves on flashdrive just before except all new games i started like LA NOIRE, deus ex, and lolly pop chainsaw) anyway… i redownload all of them by alphabetical order and it was soo hard, i even forget some, just try to do something with a 1000 items + and put them all by alphabetical thats just impossible i CANT remember each my 1000 items and sort them by myself.

WHY IT CANT BE SORTED BY ALPHABETICAL ORDER?!
    WHAT ABOUT OUR DOWNLOAD LIST!?

  • i know what u mean* sorry typo :)

  • Was Far Cry 3 supposed to come with a UPlay Passport when you download the full game off of the PS Store? Mine didn’t.

  • For the third week in a row, I go to download something, aaaand the store has a “minor hiccup”. If the new store was designed to make things much more difficult, incredibly slow and decrease the desire to purchase things… It’s certainly working well.

  • I don’t think Morgan was lying, there would be no reason to lie when obviously a lot of people saw it.
But thanks for coming to my defense.
I love you Sony, but these mess ups happen too frequently. We all make mistakes and I’m not gonna pitch a fit or anything.
I do think, however, that the Uncharted dlc price at 1.99 should be honored. Most any other company would I’m sure. (plus it sounds better for dlc anyway)

  • @BenTheWicked

You know you can hit triangle on any game and go to info and name it as any album you want right?

  • @ Alastor424 on

no u dont need UPlay Passport when you download the full game on the PS Store.

  • @Skrawney,

Yes, and I’ve done that, but that’s not true alphabetical ordering. That’s just organizing by the first letter and system (if you want hundreds of folders).

It’s like slapping duct tape on an engine and saying, “Done!” It doesn’t fix the problem, just makes the problem tolerable.

  • @Skrawney

so u tellin peoples to make a folder for every games?! lol u clearly dont have more than 10 game in your ps3.
dont tell peoples what to do. im pretty sure he know much more than u that he can make folders…

  • Ni No Kuni! OMG That’s a pleasant surprise! Maybe the release date has been pushed up?

  • Is there a limit to how many albums you can make(I’m actually asking not talking smack)? I know you want alphabetical sorting, but If you don’t want to make all the albums yourself then Idk what to tell you. Another reason digital isn’t the future, you play by their rules.

  • I have a question…. Is Mass Effect even 50% as good as KOTOR?

  • It’s pretty pathetic that I have to come to the PS Blog every week to see what’s released. Unless you KNOW what’s coming out or what you want, good luck finding anything on the Store. The days of quick access are gone, replaced by mandatory and excessive filter use. I was just in the Store, did a search for New Releases, and I didn’t see anything about Mass Effect. Only girlie themes. I was aware of THPS Add -On content, so here was my path:

Games -> New on PS3 -> All New Releases

    THEN. Not yet.

THEN you have to go to:

Add Filter -> Content Type -> Add-Ons and tap DOWN 18 times.

I’m not exaggerating. 18 times for new content

I remember when I could go to “New Releases” and see everything Sony has to offer in one click, with limited scrolling. Ah, nostalgia.

You guys really messed this whole Store thing up. Seriously. If you can look up my recent purchases, take a good look at my purchasing patterns before and after your update. Notice anything? Yeah, that would be a lack of money I want to give you, but can’t, because you insist on making it a problem to spend my money on you.

  • @BenThe Wicked said-” But the saddest thing to all of this, is the fact that no one on the support team seems to care. Whether I contact through Twitter or through email, I get the same response: “Sorry, but the PlayStation can’t do that.”

    But the PS3 only does”EVERYTHING”

    LOL

  • Lol yeah I am telling him to make a folder for every game. With all the time you guys spent complaining, it could have been done by now.

  • OMG…. NI NO KUNI. I’m so staying up tonight to play it!

Offtopic: Please bring Crash Bandicoot to Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale!!!

  • plus update really sucks! :|

  • @Skrawney

even in folder games isnt sorted alphabetically… stop trolling.
    cant u listen?!

  • @Skrawney,

When you pay hundreds of dollars for a system and for the games, you should be able to offer input for ways to improve the experience.

Again, I have made folders for every letter in the alphabet and organized my games that way. To go beyond that, I’d either have to make a folder for all A’s for PS3, PS and Minis, another folder for all B’s for PS3, PS and Minis, etc. Or, I’d have to go through and make folders for each series of games I own.

However, neither of those work, because I’ll always have sequels out of order (especially when they were released in the wrong order).

I don’t want to do the work that the PS3 should do for me. I don’t think I’m expecting too much by asking for alphabetical ordering for my 180+ games currently on my system, especially since I know I’ll be getting many more over the next couple years.

Of every bit of technology I own, the PS3 is the only, ONLY computer system that cannot organize alphabetically.

  • @ FranklynStreet

Sounds like you need to upgrade your HDD. 320 GB is NOT very much space at all anymore.
I have 750 GB and even I am down to only 20 GB free space… so 320 just would never cut it.

  • grace or morgan. please try to get the older store interfrence back as a said option or choice , this this new one is just out of control. \\
