PS3 Game of the Year
It wasn’t easy to condense the best of this year’s Blu-ray lineup into a manageable list, but we did it — barely. Vote once from the list of 15 finalists below. If you think we missed a game, vote for it using the write-in option at the bottom!
PS3 Game of the Year (PSN only)
This category is dedicated to PS3 titles that have only (or initially) been released on PlayStation Network, excluding full-priced digital Blu-ray games. We counted standalone games, free games, and episodic series such as The Walking Dead.
PS Vita Game of the Year
Vote for your favorite physically released PS Vita game of 2012. Don’t see your favorite on the list? Write in your vote at the bottom of the poll below!
PS Vita Game of the Year (PSN only)
We dedicated this category to digitally released PS Vita titles that weren’t available on store shelves, including free games such as Treasure Park and Frobisher Says.
PS Mobile Game of the Year
The newest member of the PlayStation family is only a few months old, but it’s already attracted a solid launch lineup of bite-sized gems.
Best Use of PlayStation Move
This year saw some intriguing applications of PlayStation’s motion controller, from music creation to new gameplay experiences. We counted any application of PlayStation Move, from full-priced Blu-ray games to PSN downloads to Add-on packs.
Most Anticipated PS3 Game
What upcoming PS3 game are you most eager to play? Vote from the list of 20 nominees or write in your selection at the bottom of the poll.
Most Anticipated PS Vita Game
Choose your most-anticipated PS Vita game, physical or digital, or write in a pick at the bottom of the poll app.
Now that you’ve voted, tell us what you voted for in the comments and why.
Persona 4 golden needs more love. Even if it is a remake, there is so much more added to it that increases the enjoyment. This is one game that I believe deserves all the accolaids that it can get. Everyone has to try it just look at the metacritic if scores matter .
Bioshock for Vita please
PS3 GOTY: Mass Effect 3 (despite the OG ending) Far Cry 3 is great but not without it’s issues.
PS3 GOTY PSN: Journey (my overall GOTY)
PS Vita GOTY: Persona 4 (This game just keeps giving. So much to do)
PS Vita GOTY PSN: Sound Shapes (delivered on all fronts)
PS Mobile GOTY: Aqua Kitty
Best Use of PS Move: Sports Champions
Most Anticipated PS3 Game: The Last of Us
Most Anticipated PSVita Game: Soul Sacrifice
The only category I had to put “other” for was PS3 game and I chose Starhawk. It was tough, there are lots of great games in there. Totally addicted to Allstars atm, but Starhawk is just so much fun…and I’m not particularly s fan of shooters.
Most anticipated PS3 game is definitely the easiest to answer: Ni No Kuni by far.
The category I struggled with the most is actually PSVita PSN only games. Despite public perception there are a lot of good games on the Vita and it was very hard to choose. I also think Virtue’s Last Reward was miscategorized because it was in this category but I own it on cartridge. Fantastic game. But I actually voted for Motorstorm RC, because I spent days and days and days playing that game and increasing my times and beating my friends and earning the platinum. I love that little game. Motorstorm RC, Sound Shapes, Mutant Blobs, Retro City Rampage, Zen Pinball 2, New Little King’s Story, Virtue’s Last Reward… how can you choose just one?
Also, I’m really looking forward to Guacamelee, but I have REALLY high hopes for Killzone, so that’s what I voted for.
For me Far Cry 3 deserves GOTY! :) i recommended to anyone that loves single player games and long story modes. Also the MP is beast my most anticipated was a hard choice..:p had to coose between GTA V and The Last of Us. I’ll go for TLOU because its ps3 exclusive ps3 FTW!
Most Anticipated for next year:
TIE: NiNoKuni: Wrath of the White Witch & The Last of Us!!!!!!!….
…that is unless Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes/The Phantom Pain gets a release date of next year!!!! :D
On the VITA Side of things:
Stoked for Soul Sacrifice!
@ TRIX_BOL #48 You’re not the only one aware, it hasn’t been updated in at least a month.
my most anticipated game is the last of us this game has been touched by god and blessed to greatness. 2013 looks great to be a playstation gamer. to make this perfect for me is real ps4 news, tech demo, and how far radiosity will affect the ps4 performance, and my one major wish is 8gs of ram or more muhuhuhaha. sony fanboy for life.
TOUGH decision between Killzone: Mercenary and Soul Sacrifice! Man… I love my Vita!
What I wish that I could be able to write Ni No Kuni in for every category.
Sid with all the comments I think you need to at least add Best RPG in for next years vote.
It’s already been mentioned, tut DJ Max Tecknica Tune is a retail game; though it’s only available directly from Pentavision. Similarly, Zero Escape is retail. Hell, Amazon throws it in to your order for free when you purchase a Vita bundle.
I voted Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward for the Vita choice, and Dragon’s Dogma for PS3. A lot of people loved it and played it for months, if it released last month and Dishonored released in Spring, things might have been different. Ni No Kuni for most anticipated. Many people don’t know you can fly a dragon, sail a boat, have familiars, lots of spells, in an open fantasy world. It even has a post game, and a casino with minigames.
Why isin’t starhawk a part of the PS3 GOTY list? Its a full AAA games. And it deserves GOTY for MP experience alone where no other game could top it.
So this confirmed that Muramasa on Vita will be released on America? Best news of the week =D
I voted for the Jak & Daxter Collection as GOTY, PS Vita Uncharted Golden Abyss, Vita PSN New Little King’s Story, PS3 PSN Journey, Most Anticipated The Last of Us <—- Everyone vote for that last one!
I’m tired of seeing starhawk get shafted for everything. I blame SCEA for everything and not only was it shafted when it came to marketing but the blog didn’t even mention it here.
Seriously? Niche stuff like SSX and Xcom is on the list and you can’t even promote your OWN exclusive game?
Yeah, nobody I talk to. NOBODY has even heard about the game, and I don’t blame the devs on that. They created an amazing game that SCEA ignored. Then probably cut their deal with LBI short. Its obvious with the layoffs dylan mentioned on twitter.
Starhawk would have benefited as a multiplatform with the way sony treated the game.
Fun poll, thanks for posting this, Sid. This is new, right? I don’t remember this last year……
Very hard to choose most anticipateds. So many fit that description. But lol to the guy who is still hoping for The Last Guardian. I’m with you, but I’ve lost all hope.
Max Payne 3 is my Blu-Ray GOTY. Double Dragon Neon is my PSN GOTY. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is my most anticipated PS3 game.
STARHAWK FOR MP GOTY.
Hard to vote on game of the year when I usually do not buy games when they come out. So all i can say is:
PS3 GOTY – Ni no Kuni (even though it came out in Q4 2011, still my favorite this year)
PS Vita GOTY – Project Diva F
PSN GOTY – Walking Dead
Most anticipated PS3 – Bioshock Infinite
Most anticipated PS Vita – Tales of Hearts R
Also hard to make a list when you import.
Lumines: Electronic Symphony wasn’t on there by default? Seriously?
Hey where’s COD:BOD for Vita !? JUST kidding that game is garbage and a huge rip-off. Classic that it isn’t on that list just to keep appearances up eh? To at least pretend 50 bucks is at all worth it?
STOP advertising it and bundling it … you’re not doing the Vita any favors.
If only plus members would get Journey free now that would be a deal.
PS3 GOTY ~ Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
PS3 GOTY PSN ~ Journey
PS Vita GOTY ~ LBP Vita
PS Vita GOTY PSN ~ Dokuro
PS Mobile GOTY ~ Surge
Best Use of PS Move ~ Sorcery
Most Anticipated PS3 Game ~ God of War: Ascension
Most Anticipated PSVita Game ~ Soul Sacrifice
Thanks @TRIX_BOL for the format. Can’t wait for the myriad of PSVita releases next year.
For PS3 Game of the Year I picked Mugen Souls. Best game that came out this year. It even made my top 5 games of all time.
Excellent!
