The sooner they drop the price of the OVERPRICED memory cards, the sooner more people will buy into the Vita. Because out of the box the Vita is useless. 4GB isn’t enough in a bundle if you plan to buy digitally, and most of their bundles come with digital downloads that won’t even fit on the 4GB. Especially the pathetic PS+ bundle.
Sony isn’t Apple or Microsoft. They can’t get away with overpriced propriety memory cards. And charging $22 for the original LocoRoco when the sequels were only $8 each is bad business. God forbid I try to get Sony to fix their own pricing issues. And I waited a long time before ever saying anything, hoping they’d notice at some point. But nope.
And I was called a fanboy, for arguing against terrible arguments made against Sony. Complaining once in my entire membership, since launch of PS+, is hardly worth noting. You just sound like a fanboy yourself. Mad that I dare to note that I don’t like this update. ): I’ve been happy, or content with every other one, but not liking one makes me evil.
I hope next time we get a better PS Vita game. RCR is very cool, but EU got Mortal Kombat. I think MK is way better than RCR.
as everyone said, very poor for a xmas update, and very poor update overall. most people get ps plus for the free games, not the discounts.

A few temping games to buy for the Vita. I wanted to play Retro City so thanks for that. It might not be for everybody, but I’m glad I got to experience the game.
On travel so I can’t grab the PS3 version. Now is when I was Sony got the webstore up and working. :(
And before we start with the remote play, I know it is my fault for not setting it up before I left.
Totally disappointed, why you guys don’t look at the results of the your own poll? the last months “Nothing for me this week” has been the winner, if you don’t care about the votes why do you guys put a poll in the first place?
These sales and free PS+ games are really starting to burn me, since I have already bought almost all the games at full price before. And the PSN credit sales in October and November burned me too (spend $XXX.XX or more get $XX.XX credit next month). Hopefully this gets sorted out soon. If you buy a game full price early within the launch window, you’re about to get burned with these sales and PS+ a couple weeks later! I’m not buying anything from the sale because it will probably be free later on in PS+. I’m taking a break from spending on PSN, I’ve been burned enough the past 3 months of this year!
Went to the store to buy retro city and saw it was Free! Awesome. Instead I bough metal gear and playstation all stars good update can’t wait to see what’s next week.
Will we ever get ps2 classics on vita? There are some ps2 games like final fantasy and GTA that i would love on vita.

But you clearly don’t know how business works. Sony can’t drop prices on the memory cards until THEY’RE ABLE TO. There’s a little thing in business called “the bottom line” that needs to be toed with extreme care. It’s a very sensitive area that if not handled precisely, would lead to the demise of the company. I won’t go into the details of finances here, and the way costs and profits are interchanged because there’s not enough space, but I promise you, Sony is not purposely inflating the prices of the memory cards to rip people off. There are costs that need to be covered. The price will drop when it can be dropped. You can take it or leave it, or as you like to say, “deal”. I don’t understand why you brought Microsoft and Apple into this. Totally irrelevant.

4GB is plenty of space if you play one game at a time, delete, download another. And that’s only for the “big” games. Most Vita games are MUCH smaller, and you can fit multiple games on one 4GB card. And you know it. It’s not a problem.
The Loco Roco thing… you never know what happened there. It’s not that they just left it alone and it went unnoticed, there could be all kinds of contractual, legal, etc. issues involved that they’re obviously not going to discuss, but again, they’ll always lower prices on their products when they’re able to (and they always have!), because they know that lower prices = more sales, more customers, and even MORE PROFITS. That’s exactly what every company wants. Just because the sequels were cheaper doesn’t necessarily mean the original game will follow suit. It’s happened in the past with other franchises for various reasons.
I’m not a “fanboy”, nor do I work for Sony as some people like to think… I’m just trying to help people understand.

The post says that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection PS3 is discounted, but on the store, only the Vita MGS HD collection is discounted. Is that an error or is it a problem with the store?

You are missing the whole point of having a PS+ subscription, you are NOT SUPPOSED to buy any game at full price, you either wait for the game to get on sale or become free altogether, but buying the game at launch is not wise, you could just cancel your subscription altogether and it won’t make a difference either way.

1. Your complaining to Morgan about RCR’s resolution doesn’t make a lick of sense. What does he have to do with that? It’s a good game anyway, you just can’t get with it. That’s all there is to it.

Constructive criticism is cool, helpful, and most definitely welcome. But can you honestly say that’s what you’re seeing here? Sometimes yes, but most of the time it’s nothing but pointless attacks that only serve to stroke the ego of the bonehead who posted it. It’s disruptive, it’s tacky, and the worst part is, it brings down the morale of the community as a whole. It makes us all look bad. It even makes some of us feel bad.
If Morgan, Grace, or someone else from the blog thinks that this is unnecessary and they ask me to stop doing what I’m doing, I’d wonder why of course, because the trolls will see it as an invitation to accelerate their trolling and ruin this blog further, but I’d still honor their request because they run this site, and unlike most of you I actually respect them and appreciate the work they do.

I never meant to imply that real gamers are only veteran gamers like me. I’m well aware there are plenty of real gamers these days in their teens and even younger. Real gamers have a genuine love for the medium of interactive art. They support the industry, they look for ways to contribute to it (rather than tear it down, like you) and they’re fascinated by what the future will bring, among other attributes…
As far as when it became “mainstream”, well, of course it’s an estimation, but I’d have to peg it sometime around the end of the PS1/N64 era, and the beginning of the PS2/XBox/GC era… seems like that’s when it really took off. GTA 3 of course, contributed to much of the boom, the steady prevalence of sports games eventually reeled in the meatheads, increased realism made games more interesting to passers-by catching a glimpse. In general, there was a massive increase in public interest in video games from folks who in the past would be disinterested in such a hobby, and previously referred to gamers as “geeks” or “nerds”.

AND… you’re obviously not understanding the point of RCR. It’s one massive tribute to the Golden Age of gaming. With sarcastic 80s references galore, and gorgeous chip tunes, but designed around modern mechanics. It was never meant to look like a game from 2012.
Pac-Man and Bomberman were re-done in HD because that’s WHAT THE DEVELOPERS WANTED TO DO with those games.
RCR is PURPOSELY presented in 8-bit glory. For 8-bit fans. PLANNED. To trigger nostalgia. MEANT TO BE. To honor gaming’s past. DELIBERATELY. THAT’S JUST WHAT IT IS. You’re confused about resolution too, because the game actually does run in 720p, if I recall correctly. There were no Progressive Scan TVs back in the 80s. The game offers filters to simulate various classic monitors, which actually is part of the charm of the project. It’s not an indication of laziness like you may think, and in fact, Brian Provinciano poured so much heart and soul into this game, “lazy” is the last thing you could call it.
