Holiday Essentials: Last Chance to Scoop Up Must-Have Games

Holiday Essentials

With the New Year about to start, we’re setting up one last week of great discounts on your Holiday Essentials – the games that you may not have played yet but wanted to try out. We’ve had two weeks of amazing games at awesome prices and this week is no different. With the last week of our Holiday Essentials sale, we’re bringing you the best of the best for your PS3 and PS Vita to ring in the New Year.

With this week’s lineup, you can feast your ears on Sound Shapes, which features Cross-Buy, meaning that when you purchase either the PS Vita or PS3 version, you get the other version for free. You’ll also be able venture around superhero game Batman: Arkham City, and test your survival skills in action-packed Tokyo Jungle.

Now’s your chance to save 30% — or up to 50% for PlayStation Plus members—on the final week of great games. But like the year 2012, these deals won’t last much longer, so head into the PlayStation Store and pick them up today! These discounts will only be good through 1/7/2013. • Tokyo Jungle!

  • Skullgirls ftw! It’s patch his PSN recently so get it now!

  • Wait, did I totally miss Journey at $7.35?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • porqueria… so sad… all the good stuff is for europeans…

  • Warning! Make sure you buy anything directly from the PSN Store and double check the price, I just sent sony a complaint letter because I was charged full price from Sound Shapes been that I am a Plus member.

  • This FINALE was a letdown, and brought up bad memories. Anyone remember when infamous 2 went on sale? Then the VERY NEXT WEEK it was free? Anyone? I remember that. I was bit pissed on that one. Anything else i’ve never been to upset with. ( still waiting on a search function for our download history, or a filter for download history would even help).

But really, ever since that “sale” i wait for games to be free. Tokyo jungle, i bet will be free one day. So will journey. So, i’m not willing to burn money on something unless i really want it. Also, Assassins creed 2 sale? Thats not new either, this is a big rehash of sales Sony. Kinda dropped the ball here.

Still a loyal playstation fan boy, but…here is always room for constructive criticism

  • So why isnt Lumines at the listed price for PS+? Ive been waiting for it to go on sale…

  • DrAndonuts yes it’s funny cause I look at the PS Store and see Lumines as $20.99 but no PS+ price at all. Sony please fix this, this is the one game I’ve wanted for the Vita and now it’s at a good price. this is something I’m willing to use my PS+ 3 month card on that I’ve been waiting to use.

  • @ Mando44646 and InSoHaPo (in response to your lumines question)

EXTRA Correction; it will still be on sale, just not part of the Holiday Sale. You’ll be able to find the discount for it under the “weekly deals’ section of the Store. Sorry, everyone is a bit on new Years break mode! =)

So I guess because it’s not part of the “Holiday Essentials” sale, it doesn’t have the 50% plus discount

  • @megacarlos (#45)

    Thanks!

  • Curious why the Holiday Essentials on the Vita’s version of the Playstation Store hasn’t been updated for a few weeks.

  • Yeah the PSV store is stupid difficult to navigate to start with. And it doesnt help when they lie about sales and dont bother to update the Holiday Sales page either

  • Assassin’s Creed II Deluxe Edition is indeed a Holiday Essential!!

BTW Blog Team have a happy and prosperous 2010 !

  • Lumines still isn’t at the PS+ price. Someone update the STORE!! I wanna buy it!

  • @ Francision69 I believe Lumines is not supposed to be part of the “Holiday Essentials”. It is a seperate sale that isn’t related to PS Plus, so that’s why the price is what it is in the store. So I doubt it will go down…

  • Lumines is listed at $20.99 on the store (it should be $17.49 for Plus members according to the above post).

“Lumines Electronic Symphony (Sale: $24.99, PS Plus: $17.49, Regular: $35.99) “

  • ^ Exactly what he said.

Except the 20.99 is correct but only for normal members(because lumines is normally 29.99$ on PSN not 35.99$ so 20.99$ would be 30% off not 24.99$) but for plus members there is no added discount(which would be about 15$ because plus members get 50% off)

If you want my money Sony fix this price.

  • Well here’s just a small offering of current deals on steam right now….
Dark Souls: Prepare to die edition- 19.99 (50% off)
Tomb Raider collection for 14.99 (75% off)
    Max Payne 3 for 14.99 (75% off)
    Max Payne 1 and 2 for 3.74 (75% off)
    L.A. Noire for 4.99 (75% off)
    Mass Effect 1 and 2 for 9.99 (75% off)
Transformers: war for cybertron 4.99 (75% off)
Transformers: fall of cybertron 29.99 (50% off)
Plus, many pc games to have huge discounts…
So a service that doesn’t have a subscription can run laps around one that does?
Well I’m going to start forcing myself to play on a mouse a keyboard.

  • 118, fully agree, these PSN sales are a joke compared to Steam. Same games, vastly different prices!

  • Why is it that the PSN store on my Vita has a holiday sale section that lists LBP, Escape Plan, and Rayman Origins… none of which are actually on sale? Is this some sort of error?

  • 118, so right! If Sony doesn’t cough up some serious exclusives, they are losing me next gen. I keep seeing superior versions of all my favorite games on PC… at vastly lower prices. Dark Souls is a perfect example. you can get that game on steam with all the DLC included for 5$ more than PSN is trying to charge for the DLC alone… sigh…

  • oh the woes of being a gamer who gets most of his games new.

got almost everything i have an interest in already. pondering on Bulletstorm, but i already snapped up recently Starhawk, and i still need to finish Assassin’s Creed 3 : Liberation and start Persona 4 Golden.

not to mention a lot of smaller titles i picked up at a certain very-beloved game digital distribution store.

good sales though this year i think. much better then in the past.

  • What happened to Just Cause 2? It just… disappeared.

  • Just Cause 2 is there- under Weekly Deals. You could have also entered ‘J’ ‘U’ in the search bar too you know.
