  • @dragoon2659 – Later in the day like usual. I get the update usually between 5pm – 7pm EST

  • @546 Is NBA Jam on fire a PS3 retail game? I dont think so. We didnt get any retail game this month or on November. Nov they gave NFL Blitz and now NBA Jam What the …. Atleast give a proper retail sports game.

  • @sab_krit – to be fair it’s still early in the month. Although don’t have much hope maybe they will have something good.

  • did ps plus update yet

  • thanks dk

  • @DonkeyKongKilla U R right, but have u seen them giving a retail game after the first two weeks of the month. I have never seen, So I dont want to wait till feb 1st to talk abt Jan contents. I bet next two weeks might hv another crappy psn title or some other exclusive time trial and a vita game.

  • @dragoon2659 – No Problem.

@sab_krit – Honestly, I’d figure since it’s the beginning of the year, they’d want to have to start with a big bang, that didn’t happened. But I agree with you on that one, sense I’ve been a plus member I’ve only seen games come out either I never even heard of and old classics, either or not really impressed with. But I don’t expect to get great hits all the time, at least decent ones. Who knows though, They switched up some on the blog maybe they’ll switch up plus a bit…. The inconsistency makes it really hard to tell, but I’ve only been plus sense october so not much to go on.

  • only seen mostly*

  • @DonkeyKongKilla yep. I also don’t think they can deliver great hits everytime but atleast a retail game every month. US plus either gives bargain bin games when EU gives them a recent retail game or none retail game when EU gives a bargain bin game. Eitherways US plus updates are lame compared to EU plus updates every month for the past 5 – 8 months.

  • NBA Jam: On Fire is a sequel to the retail game NBA Jam. Technically it’s not a retail game, but you can think of it as one. We have at least 1 game left for PS3, maybe 2 if we’re lucky enough to get another extra game.

  • @sab_krit – yeah and people say that people complain in EU about our discounts and such, I’m thinking like they should just switch the teams.

  • In the genres poll I voted for Western RPGs, but I also added in the “Other” category “Move controlled games.” ?

I realize not every Plus member has a Move controller, and you’ll hear a litany of complaints if a Move title was ever added to the IGC (you seem to get a litany of complaints regardless of whatever is offered). But there are so many first-party Move titles that would be good candidates (i.e., not cost that much to offer free to Plus subs), and who knows, you might drive a few sales of Move hardware?

  • @560 I cant think of it as one cuz it doesnt have BOOMSHAKALAKA! trophy.

  • 1. Mega Man 9 and 10 are great games.

    2. They are not impossible, nor are they even very challenging, but even if they were, that would be a GOOD thing.

    3. Being “retail” does not lend a game any more value or superiority over any game that isn’t “retail”. Games are games, no matter how they’re distributed. Blu-Ray discs are only a medium for storage, not a symbol of superiority over downloadable content.

    4. When JONGREY said, “This is a site for constructive feedback. Not a daycare for you to come and throw tantrums”, he hit the bulls-eye. Those of you who don’t know what constructive criticism is should look it up, study it, hopefully understand it, attempt to apply that strategy to the expression of your concerns, and then re-post. I guarantee you that the blog team would be much more receptive to what you’re saying, as opposed to when you’re employing the bash ‘n’ run operation that you’ve been running for the past year or so…

    That is all. Goodbye.

  • Hey I’m new to the PS3 and the PlayStation plus and have a couple questions.

Wondering what time the store updates?(11:30am where I live and no update yet) also I noticed last month that some of the games shown on the site were not available to download, Is this because I live in Canada? The Canadian psplus store says I can download RE5 but when I go into the store its not in the PSplus section.

    Thanks!!

  • i hope ps plus updates soon that i can play G.O.W ascention like every body else

  • LOL at keeping the vote results private…and sadly you guys still aren’t ashamed of providing crap games.

    Shame on you!!!

  • I ment same time zone as Sony, bleh -_-

  • @boowzer – My comment is waiting on approval on your inquire of the update, make it short, within the next few hours.

  • Other think is, I don;t know if this happens with those Mega man but with other (old) games when you played in a big screen it looks like giant pixel, if at least could we have the possibility to play it in the PS VITA its OK, but is only for the PS3, it’s like a try to play Resident evil 1 or 2 in a big screen…

  • @razsam – yeah like RCR? the 8-bit. It looked horrible on my 40″. bleh but Jetpack Joyride is low and it looks decent on the 60″…. But yeah i agree I’d like to see something that would look incredible on the tv. It is the era of HD.

  • @ Donkey

Your 40″ TV must be in need of proper calibration.

  • @PrimerIncognito
1.Both those titles are great games in their own right, but like NBA Jam, those games cater to a very small audience. I personally love Rockman games, but I can understand that not too many people will, and that’s not worth paying for PS+. Not everyone wants a challenging game, and to their own rights, aren’t very long games.

    2. Games are games, however, retail games have a more “Complete Experience” to them and as such, are more comparable (even if it is once or twice a month) to EU’s service. I like these games being given more promo, but again, you do not speak for everyone, and seeing as how it IS for a service that should cater to a majority, this isn’t the way to go.

  • ~cont

    3. Constructive criticism also involves speaking out against things you find unfair. Again, seeing as how this is a SERVICE (YOU PAY FOR IT) they have all the right to do so, because it means they are unhappy with a service they are paying for and are merely giving out suggestions on what could bring THEM back. All Sony has to do is find common ground within these people and try to get this game a go, not randomly decide what EVERYONE wants is NBA Jam and Mega Man. If you do not speak out then nothing will get fixed, and these guys need a serious heads up call if they want to keep customers happy.

  • @PrimeroIncognito – No, not the least bit, It’s made for HD, and my games that are in even 720p HD looks superb. It’s not made to play low resolution quality games. HD is made for HD, when playing on lower resolution on hdtv like normal 480i, video games and cable, it isn’t good quality to mix the two.

  • @AuralPrincess – one word, nicccceee

  • 1. “Both those titles are great games in their own right, but like NBA Jam, those games cater to a very small audience.”

They cater to the largest audience actually. The gamer who grew up playing these games who are still playing today. The average age of “the gamer” continues to rise, which tells you that us older gamers haven’t stopped playing yet. They also cater to anyone else who is interested… in games… not just, “wow look at that!”

    2. Umm… you might wanna back that up with something tangible. The fact that many of the games available on PSN are considered “FULL Games” alone destroys your argument. Furthermore, PS Plus can only offer downloadable content anyway, so why even expect the full spectrum of this supposed “retail” quality to begin with? You’re in the wrong to do so.

Also, in rare cases, such as with the Journey collection bundled with Flow and Flower, games that were previously only available through download, are now available at retail, which further blurs the naively perceived line of quality between the two DISTRIBUTION METHODS. ‘Cause that’s all they are. Methods of distribution. Period.

  • I LIKE THIS game and i will buy this game

  • 3. You’re not grasping my point. Constructive criticism is great all day long… speaking out is great… but you know damn well that’s not what the majority of the complainers are doing. They just say something along the lines of “you suck Sony! Die!” and leave. Nothing constructive there. The blog team has nothing to go on other than speculation as to what that person could have wanted, but at that point, why even care… I wouldn’t.

But even some of the constructive posts are coming from naive consumers who don’t understand that many of their requests are actually impossible or near impossible to implement from either a financial, legal, or technical standpoint. There’s really not much you Sony can do about that other than hope that they figure out how things really work one day…

  • @PrimeroIncognito – one word, nicccceee

  • @ Donkey

RCR runs in 720p, silly boy.

  • @PrimeroIncognito – 8bit 720p. pixels mix with hd = not good results, old fart.

  • 1. How do they cater to the largest audience? Not many of the current gen gamers know what NBA Jam is, let alone be interested in it. The average end user is going to look up screenshots and vids, see how silly it is and dismiss it. The fact that the biggest selling games this generation are the Call of Duties and Assassin’s Creed series shows a bad decline in quality titles, PS+ could be a way to get people to buy lesser known RETAIL games that are available on their store as downloads, which brings me to…

    2. Easy. They may be considered full games, but you must have misunderstood me here: I am speaking about the Playstation Plus service and their offerings here (seeing as how we ARE in the PS+ update section). I meant to imply that the retail games made free for PS+ (Like EU having Batman Arkham City & Vanquish for example) mean that the service is something to be taken more seriously and is in fact catering to a wider audience than just people that like hunting for that smaller experience. You can’t honestly tell me the current gen gamer values Megaman 9 & 10 more than Batman Arkham City.

  • @Prima WOW u got lot of time to waste picking up arguments with everyone in the plus update page and you are not even a plus member. You two points are invalid.

1.I dont want to play Mario and other 8 bit games nowadays PS4 will be out next year, motion capture games are there. Not many will play 8-bit games on PS3. If majority wants a 8-bit game the gaming industry shouldnt be evolved from the SNES era.

2.Again completed PSN games are not equal to a complete Retail game. If you consider that to be equivalent to a retail game then there shouldnt be Activision publishing COD, Naughty Dogs pulishing Uncharted or even SONY publishing GOW. PSN game not equal to retail games.

3.GET A US PLUS if you are so happy with the crap they are publishing. The only reason I see you here is you have no life and you are a pshyco who enjoys ppl getting crap games for their subscription which you hvnt paid for.

  • @ Donkey

Anything looks better when upscaled, even pixels. The lack of interlacing alone makes it much smoother than it would be on a standard def TV, and the increased number of lines improves the visuals even further… not that it matters…

  • 3. Maybe so, but again, people like to complain, but the ones that mostly do, do not get their point across the correct way. The fact of the matter is, Playstation Plus is a service and people have a right to complain about something that costs money. They promised free games for the end user, but that doesn’t mean they have to give the top servings to some people and then give others the bare minimum just because it’s cheaper – cause if that was the case, why the heck even offer the service at all?

Sony SHOULD care that this many people are unhappy with the service, because that means less people are incline to go out and sub again after their sub time expires. I haven’t had ONE reason to go out and re sub, and I feel sorry for the people that bought their subs just to be treated to a slew of mediocrity while they sit and hope the team here gets approved of something that SHOULD have been approved fairly for all regions if not at all.

  • @580 Primo you proved my point you are a pshyco.

  • I love megaman and the fact you put it up there is amazing, as well as the god of war beta, HOWEVER giving us NBA jams no matter what anyone says is a slap to the face, i do have faith that what you give us is going to get better but not if games like that keep popping up on our + list

  • Actually, games in reg 480i look way better on reg tvs, Because it’s fit for it… I’ve played numerous of games on an hd tv that was for reg on ps2 to know that one. for the simple fact that it could be projected as 720 to your tv, but its really not even close to that. Just like the few games that are made specifically for HDtvs looks horrible and you can’t read the printing on it on a normal sized regular tv. it goes both ways.

  • @AuralPrincess

    1. “Not many of the current gen gamers know what NBA Jam is”

If by “current gen gamers”, you mean the younger gamers (teens), then sure. But they don’t represent the largest demographic. Guys like me in their 30s are. That’s the point I was making.

    2. I know you don’t like to hear this, but whether you like it or not, this argument is rendered invalid simply because it’s based on opinion. Batman: AC and Vanquish are not necessarily “better” games than Mega Man 9 & 10. Which most people probably assume based on something like the complexity of the graphics or the size of the game file in MB. Of course, neither of those things represent the quality of the user experience.

What is Vanquish? A shooter? Isn’t that an extremely specific and limited genre with a limited number of fans… just like ANY OTHER GENRE?!?! Where’s your point?

  • @ sab_krit

“I dont want to play Mario and other 8 bit games nowadays”

Just because you don’t, doesn’t mean other people don’t want to. I don’t know why you think it’s all about you, and why that’s so hard to get through your head. If no one wanted those games, why would developers keep making them? To go bankrupt? You’re not thinking very hard.

“Again completed PSN games are not equal to a complete Retail game”

Many of the games offered through the IGC are downloadable versions of “retail” games. So… huh?

“you proved my point you are a pshyco”

You’re right about that! :D But you spelled psycho wrong…

  • 1. Except you are no longer the larger demographic. The fact that the Call of Duties and Assassin’s Creed being best sellers are proof enough of that. I’m 21 years old, been playing since the SNES era, and I can safely say I want more modern experiences with my.. omg, modern console. If I wanna play 8 bit games, I’ll hook up my old SNES and play Megaman X and the such.

    2. It really isn’t. I’m not undermining PSN games by any means, I’m simply stating that most people cringe at the thought of us getting these types of games while EU gets THOSE types of games. I never said they were better games, I only said they felt like bigger experiences, because, omg, they are. Bigger budgets, actual voice acting, story, etc, AKA a more COMPLETE EXPERIENCE, what exactly is so hard to understand here?

  • @590 Vanquish falls under point 2.

  • @ Donkey

    Oh jeez… dude… listen… please…

RCR was developed in the vein of vintage, but at the same time it was given many modern advantages… higher resolution being one of them.

The only games that look better on a SDTV are games that were made for SDTVs. Yes, I agree that NES, SNES, N64, PS1, etc. games look better on a SDTV than on an HDTV. But RCR WAS MADE FOR HDTVs. The appearance of the game is purposely vintage and it’s purely cosmetic. For effect. Understand?

  • Morgan,

I appreciate the fact that this service is available. I think it’s a great service, and you will never please everyone. Thank you for it.

A quick question/comment for you-is there any way to get more games that would work on Vita added to Vita playability? I’m thinking specifically of many of the PS1 classics (though PS2 classics would work also…as well as other games.) Many of the PS games I have (Castlevania SOTN, Medievil, etc.) work on Vita, but others at random (Crash, FFV) do not. The controls are there-is there a technical or rights limitation that stops this?

The same with PS2 Classics…I have a few (GTA: SA, Twisted Metal Black, etc.)…the Vita could handle these games and the controls are obviously there (with the rear touch working as L2/R2.) These being available for Vita would be awesome as well.

One game request-TFS: When Mutant Blobs Attack was great for Vita…any chance for About a Blob on PS3? :-) Or a deep discount? I’d say that would be my other suggestion-more price drops after games have been out for long periods of time.

  • This is BULLCRAP i Cant Freaking belive it!!!! playstation plus Europe gets batman & mortal kombat the first week of january us nothing 2nd week God of war Beta That iGN gave free months Ago with Mega Man The Hell Dude i Dont wanna Freaking play NO Mega Man!!!!!!!!!!! & GOOD GAMES LIKE FREAKING Europe Damn it im not getting playstation plus anymore after my months are up Usa members are getting the short end on deals & Games i pay 4 a service you expect a certain level of experience. i have played every mega man ever made before this is a Rip off im Freaking DONE ! • So I buy 50000 coin for jet pack joy ride on ps vita 2.50 $ and everytime I try to obtain my gold from the game it just crash ??? any one else lose 2.50? LOLL

  • @591 wow u found a typo CONGRATS Psyco :)

Just because you don’t, doesn’t mean other people don’t want to. I don’t know why you think it’s all about you, and why that’s so hard to get through your head. If no one wanted those games, why would developers keep making them? To go bankrupt? You’re not thinking very hard.

Dude I as a plus member dont want a 8 bit game, So I can say I dont want that to the ppl who I subscribed for, Do you have a plus subscription? So me 1 you 0. if its free I am not gonna say anything. Developers can make whatever they want its their buisness they put in 1$ they make 10$ its good for them. You are not even thinking, I said psn games not equal to retail games. If I wanted a cheap completed game I will play solitaire in windows or Angry birds in ipad I have a PS3, and if EU can give good retail games for their customers, I want my service to do the same.

I have plus membership get one and talk cheap ass psycho

  • Buenas a que hroa montal el Beta, me meto en la Parte de PsnStore de Betas y solo aparece Resistencia 3… AUN NO MONTAN el Beta de God of Wra Ascencion…?

  • Ok, I’m not arguing the fact of the purposes of the game, you didn’t seem to understand that the last time we had this discussion. I don’t care the fact that they made it for blah blah blah that’s not the point. We are in the era of hd, rcr is trash for this era. and rcr was definitely not made for hd seeing how its all pixels you can see, just because it goes into 720 doesn’t make it necessary hd. that is not high definition mixing pixels with it. c’mon now it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that…. really? Your points are nothing but based upon your opinions that all games are good because it doesn’t matter if you have fun with it, its about the art man! honestly, had enough of you for one lifetime. Your arguments are the same exact thing every week. Ignoring you for now on. Now why don’t you try and be helpful to people besides trying to be a jackass.
