Resident Evil Revelations Creeps to PS3 May 21 with New Features

Survival horror fans! I’m super excited today to announce that Resident Evil Revelations is heading to PS3 this May. I know a lot of you guys have been patiently waiting for this one so we’re happy to be bringing you the definitive Resident Evil Revelations experience along with some new extras. For those that haven’t heard of RE Revelations, it’s a little bit different than some of the other Resident Evil titles you may have heard of or played recently. Revelations harkens back to the classic “survival-horror” style gameplay where you’ll be exploring dark, creepy areas with little (and sometimes no) ammo to protect yourself from whatever might be lurking around the next corner.

The storyline focuses on Jill Valentine and her partner Parker Luciani as they track down the whereabouts of series standby Chris Redfield and his new partner Jessica Sherawat. Jill and Parker are investigating the last known coordinates of their comrades on an abandoned cruise ship known as the Queen Zenobia when they’re thrown into the middle of bio-terrorist conspiracy full of danger, mystery, and of course plenty of T-abyss mutants.

What’s new to the package? On top of the core campaign and co-op RAID mode experience we’re adding new character costumes and new playable characters and features to RAID mode, providing an even higher difficulty mode called “Infernal Mode” for RE ninjas, adding a new enemy to the mix and randomized positions for all enemies, reduced load times, more save slots, more weapon customization parts, more character skills, ResidentEvil.net integration/unlockables, completely reworked visuals, and of course lest we not forget the fact that you’ll get to play all of this in high definition in the comfort of your own home on PS3.

Resident Evil Revelations will be available May 21st in North America (May 24th for our Euro friends) on PS3 via retail disc or as a day-one digital download on PSN for $49.99. Hope you guys enjoy the game and be sure to hit me up on PSN for some RAID mode!

  • $50 is a ridiculous price for this. And No Vita version is a joke.

I’m completely DONE supporting this has-been developer.

  • I’ll show Capcpom some “proper support” and skip DmC until it’s 15 bucks on Steam. I’m done buying new stuff from these losers when they show absolutely no support for the Vita.

  • Here are the features I wanted:

Retail release (*cough* RE4/Code Veronica mistake)
Vita release/Dual platform release (Vita + PS3 with cross save/cross play support)
    Move Support

If it succeeded on the 3DS, a portable console, then it would’ve fulfilled the same AND BETTER experience on the Vita, invalidated the first response comment. The Vita’s Screen is bigger, and the sound quality is either the same or better than the 3DS.

I have the game on the 3DS–loved it. I’d have loved it more on my Vita.

For these reasons, I doubt I’ll be buying this, though props on the retail release, finally (would’ve loved Code Veronica HD on retail disc–my PS3 is now out of memory).

$50 for features I didn’t ask for, and not the features I wanted. Doubtful purchase indeed. Good luck though, Capcom!

  • @153 – Do you think it succeeded on the 3DS? There’s a reason why they’re putting so much effort into making this a console game now and it’s not out of the goodness of their hearts. People didn’t want a portable Resident Evil. It didn’t sell particularly well, at least, compared to the console versions, so that’s why they’re putting it on the systems that people actually buy Resident Evil on.

It’s also why there is no Vita version! Companies are not in the habit of just throwing money away. It seems Vita owners do nothing but troll this site, waiting to complain at every game that doesn’t get a Vita port, but they don’t seem to understand that if the Vita was a successful system, there would be a version for you. Why would they ever port an only moderately successful RE title to a not-success handheld? That makes no business sense, whatsoever!

But seriously, Vita owners, stop it! It’s so annoying to read you guys on every PS3 thread. Face the sales figures and either accept that you’re not going to get everything or support the games that do come out more and companies will start paying attention to you.

  • ^^ Coz the WiiU is so successful…..anyways don’t bother with a late Vita port Capcom,it won’t sell well and you’ll end up blaming the fanbase.

  • $50 MSRP for a 3DS port on the PS3, not in your lifetime Capcom. I’ll wait it out until next year, I can always gets the infinitely more cheaper 3DS version if I wanted it that badly.

“We have this new PS3 gam-”
“MINE? MINE? MINE, MINE, MINE MINE.”

Also Vita owners in this blog have surpassed the seagulls from Finding Nemo, all this portbegging, shaking my head 24/7.

  • I’m really disapointed with the no 3D thing… xbox can do it, they have many title in 3d. I don’t see why wiiU couldnt. The game is already design for it on 3DS… Its not like if the game will push too hard on the console. Its not Uncharted or Killzone its only a 3ds port…

  • So no Vita version…..Great job.

  • What happen to Resident Evil Portable? It was announced at the Sony press conference during the E3 2009, is Capcom ever going to release it.

  • may i know is the WiiU ver. getting extra special control with its tablets controller?
if WiiU ver. doesn’t have exclusive special control then forget what i ask…
but if yes, why it is so special for the WiiU ver. when Vita gets ignored of able to do simillar extra special control like the WiiU…

  • Awesome! I’m a huge RE fan since the first one, but do not have a 3DS. Thanks for bringing it to other platforms. You know, this is how it should be…playable on all platforms. I’m getting tired of the whole exclusive thing. Especially when RE started on the Playstation. Again Thnak You!

  • ok ill just have to say the when you make a game for a less equip game ystem And is remade for a console you create big problems in the gaming market not many people will buy this game due to the simplefact we already have several games avalible to play that have recently with in 7 months of its release its common sense whos in charge of marketing ? do us all a favor hire new markeing managers this should have been for the vita it isnt hard to revamp thisgame for he vita so lets see a single core processor on a 3ds that this gamewas made for jumping to a 6 core cell processor and skiping the arm a9 ph quad core processor on the vita graphics is more than capable of handling this game on vita . this gameif you didnt already notice is just made with Hd over skining making the game that has a resolution of 564 p look like it has 720p and with the console to tv resolution it will be stretched to fit the 1080p hd tv using the graphics processor in the ps3

  • if i were to guess sony has lost touch and developers are desprite to say the least owell bc of the years of ignorance in sonys marketing and game development im selling my sony hd tv and ps3 and psvita and all there products ive collected so long sony your ignorance will again put you in last place in the gameing market ignorance must by bliss and i guess common sense is a myth

  • and #154 really you have no common sense marketing skills yes the vita is failng but ask yourself why for a moment its bc we dont have many games for this system thats why no games no market very simple and if they would lower the vita price to 179.99 it would seems easier to buy to the consumer market place now consider this aswell with sony worrying about the ps3 and is psn tbat has been glitchy and redesigned dont you think they are a bit destracted i could do a much better job than this ive been a retail manager for several yrs now and ive sold 50 dollars of crap to people at a price of 2K come on sony dont screw your company over by neglecting your common sense

  • As an early adapter of the Vita who bought it in 2011 for double its base price, I’ve given up on it and doubt it will even be as half as successful as the PSP was. In Japan, the PSP is still a money maker for Sony often outselling the Vita on a weekly basis. It’s a failing hardware and Capcom does not need to waste time on porting a 3DS game if it ain’t going to sell. Things aren’t looking much better outside of Japan too. . . .

Anyways, I probably won’t be getting this game for the PS3. Mind you it’s pretty fantastic, so long as you play Raid Mode. The campaign is pretty unbearable at times with some of the characters and the story is too convoluted for its own good. The beginning 2-3 chapters of the game is mood central but don’t worry, it goes to full fledged action RE game till its action packed conclusion. It has the worse enemies in franchise history those Ooze things and they are hardly a threat once you get more toys. Raid Mode made all of that drama worth it though.

  • thats understood but again the reason why sony doesnt have a great market on the psvita is market place focus they care more for the ps3 than vita due to servers going down and hackers and ect but if they put as much effort in the vita as they did the ps3 we would see more psvita content and you would see apps and software improvements the hardware isnt the problem its the fact we still have psp content avalible and since the psp has been out a long time of course its goin to out sell the vita bc its more expensive and not many games and software issues but remember the psp at first had many problems as well if sony offered a trade value from and by sony on the psp for psvita and stop psp content for psp users to upgrade to psvita that the market would change for sony and the vita for the batter if the trade value was 150 for the 2000 and 3000 modle and 75 for 1000 and 175 for pspgo we would have more vita users

  • What’s with the garbage childish decisions Crapcom? This is the reason why a lot of gamers hate your company, everything you guys do always come with a downside or sacrifice.

You port a bloody handheld 3DS game to consoles, but not port it the most POWERFUL handheld console to ever release to date? The PSVita dominates the 3DS in terms of hardware and raw power, this is where the game should’ve been, but I guess you guys care more about money than satisfying other demographics. It’s an insult and a spit in the face for you fools to port the 3DS game to consoles, and leaving behind the better, much more powerful handheld, where the game would’ve worked wonderfully. There has to be a reason behind this? Did Nintendo get on your knees for you Crapcom and suck on it all day long? Or did they just throw a ton of cash in your faces and that was more than enough for you guys.

The only reason why Crapcom didn’t choose to bring RE to the Vita is because they’re money hungry snakes. I still can’t believe you snakes pulled this on some of your fans, how sad. Well atleast you guys won’t be getting a penny from!

    Well done Crapcom, well done.

  • now if they take the psp trades through the company as a special deal for a couple months for the year 1 a year that they can recycle the parts use it for a green tax right off or even use parts and recycle them to make more psvitas or new improved modles of psvitas for better development in making games for the vita very simple

  • I’ll be getting this IF there will be a PS3 and PS Vita release. I played it on the 3DS. I Didn’t finish it because I had the PS Vita too. I was comparing the quality of the game, It deserves to be on the PS Vita. I find the 3D useless on the 3DS. That’s why I’m looking forward to see the HD version of this on the PS Vita and the PS3…

I’m EXCITED to play this RE: Revelations on my PS Vita and PS3 with the Playstation Pulse! Imagine the horror. :D

  • my talking points provide a customer relationship that would better secure the psvita market and would make it easier for developers to make games for the vitas cross platform games and would bring fresh blood to sony and give capcom a second look at its development choices

  • and btw this game not following the story should be 39.99 it just makes sense that way

  • finally our waiting is over ,i really appreciate the hard work capcom ,you just made a re fan happy ,will it feature a story co-op just like re5 and re6 ? :)

  • Forget the vita Vista or whatever. I just want to know how much of the game I’m buying before it gets ripped to shreds as DLC. I wait a year before I buy because it will come out later as a GOTY edition a year later. loved capcom in the 80’s

  • Oh I’m really interested since the RE6 was a utterly disappointment…and I’m a big fan of RE franchise…well this got me excited, looks real good and I love Jill…and did you just said retail?…well count me in already.

@ Mike Lunn(in response to #42)…3DS a beast?…oh please spare me of this fancy dream.

  • Hi:
I’ve checked all Posts. So, are you telling us that the Resident Evil: Revelations is made for Consoles being Ported from a Handled System (3DS)?
What are you thinking in sale this game at $50.00 or $49.99 or something? It has NOT Vita version, it has NOT 3D, it has NO EXCUSE!
Well, O.k. So, if you are going to sell this game at that price, without PS Vita Cross Game version and being “remastered” from a handled System, I guess this game will have:
Full HD NATIVE RESOLUTION (not the awful work you did with Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10),
    60 frames per second,
    DTS 7.1 Ch. Sound,
The COMPLETE version already since day 1 (No more DLC, PLEASE. We are buying your game, not a 50% of it).
I want this game, I really do but, no way I’m going to pay for something that you just don’t want to make as BEST as possible for all of us.

  • Reading through the comments i can see that a lot of folks want this on the Vita, including myself.. I think the reason as to why Vita isn’t getting much support or attention from devs needs to be addressed.

  • Vita version! Vita version! Gimme a Vita version!

  • Capcom is ignoring my favourite console, so I’m boycotting Capcom. I won’t buy a single game from you, unless it makes its way to the Vita.
And might I add, I don’t care about fighting games. Your games that matter to me are RE and MH, maybe Megaman. Send these Vita’s way, or you may as well forget about my money!

  • One of the things that disappointed me the most about RE6 was the lack of unlockable costumes for the campaign. I understand the 3DS version also lacked this, but will the updated version have costumes for story mode? That was one of the things that kept me playing RE games over again. I don’t understand why it’s fallen by the wayside.

  • Vita this vita that, you children need to give it a break.

  • Might buy or might not because I like see it on ps vita mostly.

  • WOW, no more watching my brother play on his 3DS

  • This blog it seems has become nothing more than a haven for trolls and overgrown children with an overinflated sense of entitlement.
You Vita whiners represent a very small minority of gamers.. Capcom and the rest of the game developers will not be hurt by your lack of support.
So just go if your going to go.. but do it now and never come back. No more of this ‘one-foot outside the door’ BS.

  • sorry i wont support this unless you bring it to the vita.
one more stupid decision in the capcom bucket. keep it going guys…you are really mastering this pissing off your fanbase thing this generation

  • @154 (clupula668). Wrong. People did want a portable Resident Evil. Just not on a weak piece of crap system like the Nintendo 3DS. It doesn’t even have dual analog sticks. Putting it on a good portable like the Vita with dual analog sticks and good enough hardware to make the graphics not much worse than the PS3 would certainly make people interested in buying the game.

Using your logic, no game console would be successful if game companies weren’t allowed to take risks. How do you think there are games on day 1 of a console launch? They start working on the game before launch with absolutely no idea if the console will sell. A good RE game such as this on Vita wouldn’t even be a risk. PlayStation fans love RE much more than Nintendo fans and I’m 100% certain this game would sell well on the Vita. Not as well as the console versions, but certainly sell much better than the 3DS version and enough for Capcom to make a profit.

  • yes :)

  • wow

  • As an avid ps vita owners, we would really love it if you guys at-least made a remote-play patch or cross-controller compatibility so we can get some form of resident evil on a sony handheld.Ever sense psp we have been waiting for resident evil to make its way onto the handheld and the lack of Vita support with both this & re6 just makes us feel left out. Please do something about this if not now than later and please support the vita in any future games you guys come out with..

  • MOVE SUPPORT should have been integrated to begin with! The controls scheme is very much similar to RE5 Gold Edition!

Anyway, glad to see this getting a console release. I now have a reason to be scared again.

  • The price kind of steers me away. The game was great no doubt about it. I’ll look more into this game and the new features as the release date gets closer.

  • @ 185 Heatseeker125 – Fantastic comment.

  • “3DS and PS-vita infrastructure let alone developing games for them are extremely different beasts. Even just the screens as you mention are completely different resolutions/functions. Take a look at the top comment for my full Vita response.”

    Durrr, teh resolutionz are dif’rent…

    What?

If your engineers stumble over such insurmountable and monolithic obstacles as varying screen resolutions, I fear for your crappy company. Oh, Capcpom! (apparently porting to stationary consoles and PC provides no such obstacle *cough*).

I’ve rarely read such weak PR crap. If the truth is uncomfortable/embarrassing for you, at least just shut up instead of spouting crap that insults the intelligence of the reader.

  • Pathetic Excuse by Capcom, one of the weakest PR Comments I have seen in a long time. No support for the Vita ? get stuffed and shove your overpriced average game where the sun don’t shine then.

  • Let’s see, the original is 3d and portable. The port isn’t. The original was cheaper. The graphics will not be that much better. No hd port has been so far. I see no reason whatsoever to buy this.

For the lack of 3d, the reason most likely is that the game will be made to x360 and ported to the other consoles.

  • Once again Capcom proves how money hungry they are by not listening to the fans. This isn’t surprising.

  • “3DS and PS-vita infrastructure let alone developing games for them are extremely different beasts. Even just the screens as you mention are completely different resolutions/functions.”

So the PS3 and 360 *aren’t* different infrastructures, and HD *isn’t* a different screen resolution?

It’s reportedly pretty easy to convert a PS3 game to Vita – even one of your own people has said so:
    http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/PS+Vita/Street+Fighter+X+Tekken/news.asp?c=44499

Perhaps you should get the Revelations team to speak to him.

As excuses go, that’s one of the weakest I’ve heard.

I have a PS3 and a 360 as well as my Vita, but you just lost a sale.

  • This should NOT cost more than $19.99 for the digital download. After the flop that RE6 was, I’m very cautious about spending more than $20 on another RE game.

  • Hi:
It’s Me, again. So, I hope you are considering the PlayStation Vita as a platform that MUST be included. It’s a shame how you just ignore all the comments. Resident Evil: Revelations for PlayStation Vita with Cross Play.

  • Capcom where is Resident Evil Zero AND Resident Evil 1 Remake for PS3?

  • Will i be in the game this time around? You know when i am, the game is a blast! You know it! :)
