The Drop: Week of January 28th 2013 New Releases

Blurring the borders of good and evil, this cinematic and stylized adventure stars Bayonetta, a heroine bent on sending supernatural forces to the depths of hell. Armed with her four enchanted guns known as Scarborough Fair, she battles both monstrous behemoths and angelic enemies. This PS3 classics, comes to PSN as a full-digital download.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a PlayStation 2 classic and demos for the PS3 and PS Vita version of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time are available for download on this week’s The Drop.

Bayonetta — Bayonetta is a stylish and cinematic action game, directed by Hideki Kamiya. A witch with powers beyond the comprehension of mere mortals, Bayonetta faces-off against countless angelic enemies, many reaching epic proportions, in a game of 100% pure, unadulterated all-out action. Outlandish finishing moves are performed with balletic grace as Bayonetta flows from one fight to another. With magnificent over-the-top action taking place in stages that are a veritable theme park of exciting attractions, Bayonetta pushes the limits of the action genre, bringing to life its fast-paced, dynamic climax combat.

Hitman: Blood Money — The fourth in the chilling Hitman series featuring the cold-blooded killer Agent 47. Finding that members of his contract agency, The ICA, are now being quietly (and mortally) eliminated, Agent 47 suspects a larger organization is moving in. Fearing he may be the next target, he heads to America. His jobs now will pay in straight-up cash — and how he spends the money will affect what weapons he has and what he does next. The developer added new gameplay systems, such as the concepts of notoriety and of blood money. The new Notoriety system means that anyone causing a bloodbath worthy of front page news is risking being recognised by civilians and guards in the future. Blood money lets players spend their earnings on fully customisable precision weapons and specialist equipment, or they can buy additional information upon the targets and location at hand, to aid a successful and professional hit.

Hitman: Contracts — The third installment in the critically acclaimed, multi-million selling Hitman series, developed by Io Interactive. Hitman: Contracts delivers more action-packed and suspense-filled missions, with a greater variety of ways to make the perfect kill and an increased arsenal of firearms and close-combat weapons. You’ll begin, as usual, as Agent 47, one of the most ruthlessly efficient contract killers in gaming history. Beginning in Paris, the game sees 47 in a vunerable situation, and promises to be, the most disturbing episode in the series. A new graphics engine showcases your ‘work’ in brutal detail and brings the new locations to life. An improved control system and more gradual learning curve will ensure that the game is accessible to all aspiring hitmen.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin — Third-person action shooter from Io Interactive, also released on consoles. Players assume the role of “47,” a retired hitman who was once considered the best in his particular field. The title opens up as 47 is living peacefully in Sicily and trying to cope with some of the horrible atrocities he committed in his dark, mysterious past. Shortly after attending confession, 47 learns that his priest and mentor has been kidnapped by the mafia, and so he decides to temporarily come out of retirement to get him back. Carnage, naturally, ensues. The game jettisons players through 20 missions that span across such areas as Sicily, Japan, St. Petersburg, India and even Malaysia.

Zone of the Enders: HD Collection — Hardcore gameplay and an immersive storyline combine with stunning, vibrant visuals in this HD remastering of the legendary Zone of the Enders series. With the increased aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9, upped frame rate from 30 fps to 60 fps, and evolved audio for crisper sound effects, no leaf has been left unturned in bringing Z.O.E into the HD universe. Kojima Productions even teamed up with Sunrise to bring you an impressive introduction sequence that combines artistry and beautiful anime with technical and upscaled CG for an opening that will instantly put you in the zone. With the added bonus of all-new trophies and achievements to collect, this HD Collection is sure to leave you with a satisfying and enthralling gameplay experience.

Air Conflicts: Secret Wars — Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is an arcade flight simulation set in World War I & II scenarios. During the 7 campaigns the player has to fly and fight through over 48 missions. Before taking off, the player can choose between different aircrafts, each with different strengths and weaknesses.

Let’s Fish: Hooked On (PS Vita) — Featuring bright anime style artwork and authentic sports action by veteran Japanese fishing game design studio SIMS, Let’s Fish! Hooked On is the Playstation Vita’s first full-scale fishing game, delivering an intuitive arcade gaming experience with gameplay features tailored exclusively for this handheld device. The game combines realistic fishing action with fast arcade-style gameplay and comes complete with a full story mode, which aims to make fishing fun for everyone.

  • Bayonetta is awesome. That is all.

  • Wait, no, thats not all. Are the Hitman games digital download to?

  • WHAT? NO KINGDOM HEARTS? I was expecting BBS within this month. Sorry i wasnt here last week. I was way too involved in beating kingdom hearts again on my ps2. Oh well lots of other great games going digital. Maybe Skyrim due to the dlc all coming in february and uncharted 3 in regards to the incoming news unless thats only for the multiplayer xD. will both come onto the store *Wink wink.

  • Yessss! Vice City, come to me babe!

  • Vita needs more games…please the PS2 clasics on VITA.

  • oh bayonetta… only if your sequel wasn’t a WiiU exclusive :/…

  • When ZOE comes to Vita???

  • Ha! The Kingdom Hearts kid is back!

Ni No Kuni is taking up my time so none of this stuff on the drop matters! :D :P
I’m 32 years old…..I have no business enjoying that game as much as I do lol.
    Cheers!

  • Sony please give me a PS3….Im saving money for the Orbis.

  • Will Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault be coming out for Vita with this update? I bought the PS3 version and want to play it again on my Vita

  • Dammit, Sony! Just give Activision however much money the’re asking for and release Crash & Spyro on Vita already!

  • Bayonetta is incredible. If anyone here hasn’t played it for some weird reason buy it at once. On a side note I can’t wait to play as a loli in a fishing game

  • Really….and Ratchet?????

  • Rockstar Games. put Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories as a PS2 classic after you release GTA Vice City

  • Bayonetta could be free for PS Plus user, uh? :-) Just saying…

  • Is the ZoE HD Collection gonna be one download for both games or will they be separate?

  • Bayonetta and Zone of the Enders both sound intriguing, and I will be picking up Vice City, but only if it costs $9.99. Also, if you guys need ideas for PS2 classics, try Dragon Quest VIII. Of all the PS2 games that I’ve had in the past, that is the one I would most like to see available for PS3. I’m sure I’m not alone in this assessment.

  • Has Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault been delayed again for the PS Vita?

  • Keep up the good work with releasing digital downloads from your past catalog of games!
Also, like many have said before me, getting the vita to be able to emulate the ps2 classics you guys are putting out for ps3 would be awesome! I would actually buy some of them then and have a blast playing them on the go. Vice city I am looking at you…
Seriously there needs to be a GTA for Vita!

  • When ratchet and clank full frontal assault comes to ps vita?

  • nothing good this week -=-

  • @3 Why do you ALWAYS come in here every week complaining about the PSN not having Kingdom Hearts? If you want to bug anybody, bug Square-Enix, because Sony has no control over what SE titles get put on PSN.

Anyways, BlOps 2 is on PSN? Lolwut? I hope it’s gonna be free for PS+, but knowing Activision, and the fact that it just came out a few months ago, I’m probably dreaming.

Oh, and the Sly TiT demo is out now for PS+ members.

  • Excited for the Hitman titles!!!!!!

  • Adding on to what a few people have already said, when is Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault coming out for Vita? Wasn’t it supposed to be a January release? Haven’t heard anything on it in quite some time.

  • I knew the WII U is about to become a big failure. After the announcement that a sequel to Bayonetta is going to be a WII U exclusive, I was shocked and disgusted. If they gonna release the game and starts to slump in weak sales and dismal reviews starts to pour in, I think SEGA forgot that they should’ve add Bayonetta 2 on the list of the next Playstation 4. So I’ m looking forward towards Tuesday’s PSN release of Bayonetta. The game was pretty awesome especially the frustrating slow loading times and I think it’s time for a new patch of updates so that they could put the game even faster than before without waiting and still practicing moves all over again. Can’t wait, I want me some Bayonetta!

I already purchased 3 GTA games on the Store, Vice City is next for me.

  • why is sony promoting Bayonetta release on psn when part 2 is announced as a Wii u only game. promote a different game other then this gta vice city is higher regarded then bayonetta.

  • we need a kindle app on vita btw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Hey Rey Gutierrez, probably won’t get an answer for this since it’s so specific but it doesn’t hurt trying. What are the chances of Capcom Vs. Snk 2 and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 coming to the PSN Store for the PS3? Great job of bringing Bayonetta to PSN, it’s the best action game of this gen, hands downs, it deserves a wider audience! As you can tell by my Avatar, Platinum Games FTW.

  • @3 be patient man the day will come… or not :/

    @8 and 22 yup he’s back… lol

@25 i think bayonetta already has a patch on the slow load time

@26 regardless bayonetta is a pretty cool game to have on a digital library ;)

  • Haven’t been excited for anything really on PSN hopefully this week will change my mind…currently enjoying DmC let’s hope Tuesdays PS plus will change my mind…also why can’t you stay logged on this site always? Its annoying getting logged out all the time

  • Good Drop. Can’t wait for Vice City and Bayonetta. Planning on getting some games on Tuesday, if I can get some money.

  • Rey any word on whats been going on between eastaisasoft and playstation plus to get rainbow moon released on the instant game collection?

  • @3 i agree with you i want kingdom heart bss on vita. as far as one and 2 we getting the release of the kingdom heart 1.5 hd remix soon. jesse mc leak the news last week.

  • Isn’t Ratchet and Clank supposed to be coming out this tuesday right?

  • Bring Us Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Type-0, and the Star Ocean PSP games to PSN!

  • I can’t buy Bayonetta.

  • The sly cooper thieves in time demo was already released? I downloaded and played it on wednesday night.

Good week with PSN though, except I have no interest in bayonetta and already returned my copy of black ops 2. Garbage games.

  • Oh bayonetta… if only you weren’t a crappy port handled by a external studio and didn’t have a sequel exclusive to another home console that I have no interest in purchasing.

Seriously this franchise burned enough Playstation consumers and made them feel third place, first with a shoddy port, then going exclusive from a multiplatform game.

  • Bayonetta 2 or GTFO

  • Lots of oldies but goodies this week, eh? Might have to pick up Bayonetta sometime.

  • were is the ratchet and clank: FF for ps vita???? been waiting for months now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they said this jan. but jan will end so soon then feb.? come on sony!!!!!

  • It’s about time for GTA vice city! Sly Cooper looks interesting. Also I just became a PLUS member, so i hope its going to be $money$ well spent.! How many games can you save to the cloud?

  • Man look guy I know you all are into the nostalgia or luster of the “good old days” of previous Playstation systems but, we have to move on in regards to the Vita. I am not saying dont support them but, there is just too much at risk to be concerned with a old game on old technology. I would be better satisfied to play the game with trophies for completing it at least if they were re-released and not just a ported emulation. WE ARE PLAYING ON A DEVICE THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO STREAM GAMES DIRECTLY TO IT. Focus on the fact that they system is struggling and people are getting bored with the “old stuff” drop the relevant and current or hell even future addendums of the technology this system has to offer. WE CANT MOVE FORWARD IF WE ARE STILL LOOKING BACK!

Look at the facts and stop worrying about things that are known to come We gotta push this system folks!

  • Yay Zone of Enders in digital format!! Too bad I’ve downloaded Ni no Kuni and playing it all the time. Lol

  • Why cant there be any cool or relevant releases like this especially if the numbers show that we are supporting the device here. in Japan they are finally getting on the train and already getting the cool stuff with no regard to our disposition here in the U.S! THEY GOT A WIRELESS DVR APP NOW!

  • ooooo Zone of Enders HD huh…
is that gonna be at any sort of discount? or just straight up 40-60 bucks?

  • I hope one day the great PS2 era RPGs will be available at PSN, like Dragon Quest VIII and FF XII.

  • umm where is dragonborn dlc?

  • @dragon_night they are working on the kingdom hearts 1.5 hd voice overs for america right now, so don’t expect any kingdom hearts till that is finished
