The Drop: Week of January 28th 2013 New Releases

Blurring the borders of good and evil, this cinematic and stylized adventure stars Bayonetta, a heroine bent on sending supernatural forces to the depths of hell. Armed with her four enchanted guns known as Scarborough Fair, she battles both monstrous behemoths and angelic enemies. This PS3 classics, comes to PSN as a full-digital download.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a PlayStation 2 classic and demos for the PS3 and PS Vita version of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time are available for download on this week’s The Drop.

Bayonetta — Bayonetta is a stylish and cinematic action game, directed by Hideki Kamiya. A witch with powers beyond the comprehension of mere mortals, Bayonetta faces-off against countless angelic enemies, many reaching epic proportions, in a game of 100% pure, unadulterated all-out action. Outlandish finishing moves are performed with balletic grace as Bayonetta flows from one fight to another. With magnificent over-the-top action taking place in stages that are a veritable theme park of exciting attractions, Bayonetta pushes the limits of the action genre, bringing to life its fast-paced, dynamic climax combat.

Hitman: Blood Money — The fourth in the chilling Hitman series featuring the cold-blooded killer Agent 47. Finding that members of his contract agency, The ICA, are now being quietly (and mortally) eliminated, Agent 47 suspects a larger organization is moving in. Fearing he may be the next target, he heads to America. His jobs now will pay in straight-up cash — and how he spends the money will affect what weapons he has and what he does next. The developer added new gameplay systems, such as the concepts of notoriety and of blood money. The new Notoriety system means that anyone causing a bloodbath worthy of front page news is risking being recognised by civilians and guards in the future. Blood money lets players spend their earnings on fully customisable precision weapons and specialist equipment, or they can buy additional information upon the targets and location at hand, to aid a successful and professional hit.

Hitman: Contracts — The third installment in the critically acclaimed, multi-million selling Hitman series, developed by Io Interactive. Hitman: Contracts delivers more action-packed and suspense-filled missions, with a greater variety of ways to make the perfect kill and an increased arsenal of firearms and close-combat weapons. You’ll begin, as usual, as Agent 47, one of the most ruthlessly efficient contract killers in gaming history. Beginning in Paris, the game sees 47 in a vunerable situation, and promises to be, the most disturbing episode in the series. A new graphics engine showcases your ‘work’ in brutal detail and brings the new locations to life. An improved control system and more gradual learning curve will ensure that the game is accessible to all aspiring hitmen.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin — Third-person action shooter from Io Interactive, also released on consoles. Players assume the role of “47,” a retired hitman who was once considered the best in his particular field. The title opens up as 47 is living peacefully in Sicily and trying to cope with some of the horrible atrocities he committed in his dark, mysterious past. Shortly after attending confession, 47 learns that his priest and mentor has been kidnapped by the mafia, and so he decides to temporarily come out of retirement to get him back. Carnage, naturally, ensues. The game jettisons players through 20 missions that span across such areas as Sicily, Japan, St. Petersburg, India and even Malaysia.

Zone of the Enders: HD Collection — Hardcore gameplay and an immersive storyline combine with stunning, vibrant visuals in this HD remastering of the legendary Zone of the Enders series. With the increased aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9, upped frame rate from 30 fps to 60 fps, and evolved audio for crisper sound effects, no leaf has been left unturned in bringing Z.O.E into the HD universe. Kojima Productions even teamed up with Sunrise to bring you an impressive introduction sequence that combines artistry and beautiful anime with technical and upscaled CG for an opening that will instantly put you in the zone. With the added bonus of all-new trophies and achievements to collect, this HD Collection is sure to leave you with a satisfying and enthralling gameplay experience.

Air Conflicts: Secret Wars — Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is an arcade flight simulation set in World War I & II scenarios. During the 7 campaigns the player has to fly and fight through over 48 missions. Before taking off, the player can choose between different aircrafts, each with different strengths and weaknesses.

Let’s Fish: Hooked On (PS Vita) — Featuring bright anime style artwork and authentic sports action by veteran Japanese fishing game design studio SIMS, Let’s Fish! Hooked On is the Playstation Vita’s first full-scale fishing game, delivering an intuitive arcade gaming experience with gameplay features tailored exclusively for this handheld device. The game combines realistic fishing action with fast arcade-style gameplay and comes complete with a full story mode, which aims to make fishing fun for everyone.

  • Kingdom Hearts isn’t getting released as a PS2 classic or PSP digital game! I want it too, but we all know that we’ll be getting it when they release the HD collections.
Sadly, BBS is still a long way off, but will probably be included in volume 2 of the HD collections.

  • Nice drop. Is the port of bayonetta really as bad as everyone says???

  • Hmmm think maybe I’m going to sell my BOP2 disk copy and go with the digital one.

  • Everybody says that if I love DMC I’ll fall in love with Bayonetta, we’ll see.

  • @dragon_night
Maybe try looking up information on it rather than posting the same thing here every week. They are working on Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD so they probably won’t be doing much else with Kingdom Hearts until that’s been released.

  • So, how much does Zone of The Enders: Inferior Edition cost?
And Bayonetta? $9.99 is more than generous enough for this generation’s worst port ever. Anymore than that and it’ll just be a rip-off.
By the way, folks should really give the Bayonetta 2 case a rest. Nintendo is the one funding the development of the title (because Sega is a prick and didn’t give a rust about the project) so don’t ever expect it to appear on any non-Nintendo console.

  • So wait a minute, just to get this right, and make sure I’m not confused, Call of Duty Black Ops II is coming to the SEN as a digital download? please RSVP as I will want to secure this on my ‘to purchase’ list, as I much prefer a digital version to physical version.

I can carry my entire digital collection of games with me wherever I go, If i tried that with my physical collection, I’d need rehab from injury.

  • Getting Bayonetta this week.

  • Zoe collection & Zoe collection awwwwwwweeeeeeeeeee yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

  • Will pick up Bayonetta eventually. I have a feeling it will have a Plus discount in the future.

  • Um, SONY, what happened to the PSOne Cassics? Do you like the PS2 better now and not want to make any more PSOne Classics anymore? Also, could you work on bringing PSOne Classics to the PS Vita like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro trilogies? If not maybe could you release PS2 Classics on PS Vita? That would be very great.

  • I know I’m like the 10,000th person on here to ask this…but when is Ratchet and Clank: FFA coming to the Vita?? It was supposed to be on this drop…

  • can’t wait for dragonborn to come out next tuesday. hail sithis.

  • i knew bethesda wouldn’t let us down. they have come through for us.

  • There is no pre-order for kens Rage 2?? how can we obtain the pre-order costumes then

  • Bayonetta and ZOE?! Noice.

Unfortunately, I already have both on disc (though my ZOE Collector’s is still shrink-wrapped, so maaaybeee…).

  • Love Zone of the Enders, but ZOE: HD is pretty notorious for playing slower than its PS2 counterpart and not running at a full 60fps. :(

  • A couple questions (one two-part question): Will those Hitman titles be in their original state or HD with trophies? I’m really hoping for the latter.

Secondly, will Dead Space 3 on the PS Store be including any extra incentive and/or special edition with bonus content?
If nothing is currently planned then is there a chance this could change, provided there was a demand shown? I mean when nearly every other retailer is offering at least a Limited Edition, I can’t understand why Sony would not at least make an effort to compete for its share of the pie with such a lucrative franchise.

As far as I’ve been made aware, Dead Space 3 on the PS Store will not include Limited Edition content for pre-orders. If I’m mistaken then by all means, please correct me. Now I personally would love to order it directly from Sony off the PS Store for the added convenience. However, if other retailers have more to offer for the same price (which they seemingly do) then I’m more inclined to shop elsewhere.

Again, I could be wrong & I’m hoping I am. But, I don’t see PS Store listed under the LE section on the official DS website, nor does the DS3 pre-order page offer anything in the description.

  • Bayonetta sweet, always wanted to buy it as download and my wish came true and for ZOE HD Collection have it on disc but haven’t got chance to play it yet.

  • i am hoping that more ps3 games will be on psn that were blu-ray only.

  • 2 c omments for me: 1. Could use more Vita stuff
    2. I personally cannot wait for Bayonetta 2 :) (I’m a Playstation and Nintendo fan)

  • Since playstation came out with one piece pirate warriors and corpse party book of shadows Id like to put 1 game on my wish list and thats Tales of vesperia ps3 edition that game made me get a 360 but the ps3 edition is far superior but its japanese exclusive and maybe im getting my hopes up but I wish it would come to the US like one piece and book of shadows did. D:

  • Interesting. I wonder if Bayonetta will play any better as a downloadable game. I wouldn’t mind buying it again and playing it on PS3, for the trophies, if it plays better.
Also, any news on ZoE on Vita? Konami has been pretty quiet about it.

  • My ps1 classic wish list:Tales of destiny,Tales of eternia, and Tales of phantasia.

My ps2 wish list tales of the abyss and Baldurs gate 2.

  • Can anyone say what the pricing is on Bayonetta?

  • its all about Hitman baby! everything els does not matter to me. im verry happy with this release. love the hitman series You’re given dozens of possible ways to kill your target and escape, theese games have alot of replay value. with this HD collection out all i m waiting for now is a Soul Reaver HD collection!

  • Somebody please tell me Rey is a voluteer and doesn’t actually get paid.

  • How much will ZOE be?

  • Sonic 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nothing for me this week… EU PS+ gets Sleeping Dogs next week and NA gets NGS+? Really, at least give us Sleeping Dogs in March.

  • I feel so disappointed everytime i see the releases of the week and still no Persona 4 (PS2) or Suikoden II (PS1) classics.

  • We need more PS VITA content. Maybe some PS1/2 games, or more dual platform trials/games.

  • I’d love to buy Dragon Quest VIII, or Rogue Galaxy as a PS2 Classic. And, if those could be played on PS Vita, even better! However, I have one question… What about Ratchet & Clank Full Frontal Assault, for PS Vita? I see no news regarding that… :/

  • Will ratchet and clank be available for psvita today?

  • Black Ops 2 !!!!!! WOW i love you PSN

  • Why is not BlackOPS2 in the list anymore???

  • YESSSS, WHY IS NOT BLACK OPS 2 IN THE LIST ANYMORE?????

  • When are you guys gonna finally realize that Sony absolutely does not care anything about what the consumers actually want. Never have and they never will. Since Sony just absolutely doesn’t give a flying crap about the PS2 classics we’re asking for just realize we’re not going to get them and let it go.

  • Just curious but is there any chance we will see Final Fantasy 4 hit PSN for PS3 since it was on PSX and we so far have all the ones available since that era, It would be really nice to play that again on my tv, I already own it on the PSP as well. thanks.

  • Bayonetta estilo Devil May Cry!!!

  • I’m with Dragon Night.
