  • @ DaGimp13 (#125) The PS Blogcast guys have taken weeks off before. It’s just usually they announce it ahead of time. I highly doubt it was “forgotten” last week.

  • I’m not a big fan of online games but it’s not a bad update, perhaps next week we’ll get a retail game. I’d really like a fighting game like DoA5 or TTT2, since KoFXIII was the reason I became PS+ on the first place lol

  • @185 – It has been said in this blog before that “PSN is here to stay”, so PS4 will be part of the same network as PS3, Vita and PSP.

I don’t remember the post right now, but if you look for the bloggers answers from the last couple of weeks I’m sure you will find them giving that answer to people with the same doubts as you.

  • If you’re gonna whine, do your research and think it through before you post. So you’re complaining that we get a $15 game instead of a $30-$40 game, even though PS+ breaks down to $4.17 for a 12-month subscription? If you’re goingto complain, complain about the game’s quality. The reviews say it’s good but the matchmaking is terrible. One more thing: for people who compare NA to EU often, most o you whiners don’t even know that Europe got this last month.

  • With the new Playstation right around the corner, Sony needs to retain its fan base and at the same time I realize Sony needs to make money while doing it. Would it be more beneficial to offer PS Plus only one game a month for PS3, allowing the funds used to purchase PSN games to go into providing high quality retail games? Then switch to discounts on all PSN games. Many PS Plus users mention how they’d rather have discounts anyway. This is just a thought. I still value my PS Plus account. It makes it feel like less of a value when it keeps getting compared to Europe, but than I remind myself that we just got Bioshock 2 in December and I’ve almost finished Darksiders. Thanks for the update. I’ll give GoME a try. I rarely enjoy multiplayer games, but maybe this will be one of the few I like.

  • So sick of these people complaining about plus. If you don’t like it don’t subscribe, quit your whining. Another thing is Europe doesn’t get the best games every single time either so why bring it up every time they do happen to get a better update than we do?

What is even more moronic is Europe does the same crap when we get better updates, how stupid is that. Like someone said if you expect the best games every freaking week than maybe you are expecting way too much out of PS+.

Go play Xbox 360 or the Wii U then where they don’t give you crap for free or even have anything like PS+ giving away anything for free for that matter. No one is stopping you.

  • We want Sleeping Dogs!

    everyone!

    We want Sleeping Dogs!

  • I meant $4.17 per month for a 12-month subscription. We have at least 2 PS3, 2 Vita games left for the month, and this one alone is $15.

  • This is true:

” Stop crying, guys. You have the cheapest video games market in the world and, on top of the massive 13 for 13 sale that you enjoyed, you got Darksiders and Guardians of Middle Earth this month. And NG:Sigma Plus for the Vita. If you’re not happy, don’t re-subscribe and your problem will be solved.”

Games in NorthAmerica are the cheapest in the world (hardcopies or digital) most of you compare with EU but except for the free games everything else is very expensive (is in euros you know) so as most of the elders here say stop complaning and enjoy a market which offer games soooo cheap.

  • @DaGimp13

NO, sony is that MONSTER. I telling you, I tried chaning my address in my account details. It allows me to change everything other than the address.

I can create a new account and start fresh or I am stuck with US PLUS.

  • Every time I try to install big sky infinity on my Vita it fails. No matter how many times I’ve downloaded it, it just fails. I purchased on release the PS3 version and for some reason you guys sent me a download tag for the PS3 version wish works fine and was not the problem.

  • @72
Wow, I absolutelly HATE lyars. I joined plus on feb 5th 2012 and I recieved 18 rental games that day. That’s right, 18 GAMES. The store was loading that day, so I thought I would get it then, right? Don’t believe me? Go to playstation.com and in the little search box search for playstation store updates of months BEFORE the instant game collection. They used to do updates by the month:) I just want everyone who signed on after the IGC to understand that they have all been sold on a watered down business model, and it will get worse. Is it looking like they are caring about your happiness or money more? I used to get up one day every week excited knowing I was getting 8 to ten games, themes and avatars. Now we get 1 a week? WHAT? WHAT? I know, if you don’t like it let it run out and don’t get it again. Mine runs out tomorrow. Finally. I sat here for almost a year wishing I could get a refund. Just think, a qarter way through my sub, they took away seven eights of what I paid for and I was locked in! Think it won’t be done to you? (other o.s., 5 game downloads to 2) They are in the business of taking things away from their customers! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PLUS SUBS PEOPLE!

  • Second straight week of Meh.

  • @sab_krit

    1) go into Account Info on PS3 or SEN site.
    2) change current US address to EU address. use Google Maps to verify what you input is legit address.
    3) save changes.
    4)find EU DNS/VPN
    5)change DNS/Network settings accordingly
6)stop being so rude to those helping you and learn to use google.

every now and then, the region wont change on the PS3 itself, thats fixed by formatting the system and starting from scratch for region setup…when you input your then freshly updated EU account with the PS3, you’ll be treated as a EU citizen, even though you’re in NA….the only problem you’ll face in the future then is account funding, as credit cards and PSN cards are also locked to specific regions.

so realistically, you can go through all this and still might not get EU PS +, or you could just move there and let the rest of us enjoy the NA PS+.

  • PS PLUS US IS A JOKE.

  • Also sick of the complaints about the Vita updates, everyone whined about Foosball (which I like, it’s fun and free) and then we got freaking Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus free the week after. Yet no one really complained about that, it is really upsetting how many of you turn so quickly once your spoiled little selves don’t get exactly what you want when you want it.

Can’t stand it, North America whines about Europe and Europe whines about North America when they don’t get what they want. So ridiculous especially for something you aren’t forced to pay for or actually even need if it is honestly bothering you that much or not worth the value to you.

I hate to be so negative towards you all complaining but it is beyond irritating and for those who are like “I subbed until 2014, I am regretting this” that is your own fault, you can’t blame Sony because you chose to subscribe for more time than you probably should have or even needed to without thinking ahead.

People get ripped off everyday and of all the things they can find to nip pick about it is always the dumbest stuff like this.

  • @No one got them memo to stop the pettiness bickering back and forth with each other.

  • @mattios 78 i agree i was member before igc and they gave a more games and they gave away c lasic and thats what i loved now i have not gotten a classic for i dont even know how long

  • This is the option most of us have:

“Oh well, I have both EU and US plus so not too disappointed”

I will add the japanese account too.

  • Everyone realizes there are 52 weeks in a year, right? How can you possibly expect there to be a highly-rated, recently released, not-yet-discounted game for free every week?

They vary what games they give away based on a variety of factors, one of them being how well the game was received, another being the REGION they are working with. North America and Europe are different places, and sometimes deals can be worked out in one region and not another.

So hey, it’s a free game you don’t care about. Don’t worry, there are still 47 weeks left in the year, so chances are you’ll get something you like (and chances are, you already knew that).

  • Another easy pass for me. Not remotely interested in the LotR game. Aliens comes out next week and that will likely take up much of my time anyway once it hits.

  • ‘Go play Xbox 360 or the Wii U then where they don’t give you crap for free or even have anything like PS+ giving away anything for free for that matter. No one is stopping you.’

You are right play Xbox or WII U, instead of playing PS3 games instead of getting these cra* PSN games for free and think whatever u want to think, whether NA+ robbed u of ur hard earned 50 bucks or u donted to them, ProfessorGerbik or Sony cares Shi* to u complainers and we will continue to provide garbage and garbage only.

ProfessorGerbik, Isn’t that how you want to publicize Sony right?

  • Entering the EU Plus Service in February:
    6th February: Sleeping Dogs
    6th February: Quantum Conundrum
    6th February: F1 Race Stars

WE GOT A CRAPPY 15$ GAME

    I LOVE U SONY!

  • @201

I agree that PS Plus is incredibly innovative. No one else has anything even comparable. I just wish there were a better way to set expectations. I don’t think PS Plus members are being “spoiled” or trying to be “entitled.” Morgan often makes it sound like better things are coming than really are. Of course, that’s Morgan’s job, so he’s always going to be caught in the middle of making fans happy and being loyal to Sony’s wallet. Once again though, if expectations were properly set, I don’t think there would be nearly as much backlash every week PS Plus doesn’t get a full retail game. I’m still one of those who still loves PS Plus, but I do see where PS Plus is frustrating people too. I definitely want to see PS Plus stay successful.

  • Updates like this are why I never renewed my PS Plus subscription. They give you rather terrible games every month that no one else wants.

  • Forgot to add that Big Sky Infinity is a maybe for me.

  • Sleeping Dogs!

    Sleeping Dogs!

    I HATE TLOR

  • I already own GoME. At least we get good discounts this week.

  • @Betorro – really, good research, I think they know what EU is going to have on plus. and we been hearing about feb sense they updated the end of jan. Congrats on that.

  • Plus is the best service for an avid gamer like me who also happens to be a broke college student. For fifty bucks a year I get a new game almost every week. Granted I have both a PS3 and a Vita which makes this service an even better value. Keep up the good work Plus team and keep giving me great content every week. Thanks again.

    Sold.

  • @Crusher201 It’s not so much about the numbers as it is the quality & age of some of the games. GOME is (I believe) strictly online & strictly multiplayer.

But if you do want to talk numbers, Sleeping Dogs is currently 49.99, 59.99 not too long ago. Arkham City still has legs too. The cheapest is the plain version around 19.99, with GOTY at 29.99. And then GOME is $15.

  • Wow, I’ve never tried a MOBA before. I heard that MOBAs like League of Legends is suppose to be fun. And I haven’t played a Lord of the Rings game since the good ol’ PS2 day. This will be interesting.

    Thank you for GoME Sony!!!

And for everyone’s information, this was a game that Europe got about a month or two ago. So, if you wanted a game that they got, here you go! At least try it. There’s nothing to lose in a free game. :P

  • @DaGimp13

Yep I tried the same thing. I can change everything except my country! Google yes I can use but how can google give details abt something that can never be done. Your easy steps are real easy to understand and are all correct except for point 2). It is flawed and withought doing the point 2) what’s the use of other points.

Now see I am not hostile, I want you to do the same thing that you mentioned and check whether point 2) is doable. Didn’t understand who is hostile here me or u. Yes, you are trying to help me do something which is not possible to do, I understand, but did u see how some goats just flocked together when u say something that is impossible to do. I am just hostile to those goats. ROAR! die goats.

  • @SiriusCJS
You can play against bots too.

  • Guardians of Middle-Earth seriously?…now I’m disappointed…but nevermind its free anyway and I have a huge backlog of games to play.Waiting for the next update….Might pick some of the discounted games.

  • never even heard of this LOTR game so I youtubed some gameplay vids to see why people are so mad. Boy was I disappointed, this game makes Foosball 2012 look fun! This offering doesn’t even warrant a “add to cart” for the slight possibility of a future download.

  • dont copy the free game on the europe Store XD!!
i have europe and USA PLus acount and i have all games on this Update -.-!

  • i don’t like this game , it would of been better if is was straight up hack n slash , but its tower defense style that’s really not my style. ,

  • Hahaha. I absolutely love the comments section. So if we don’t like the update we are “haters”? So be it then. Not happy at all, but it’s not like my one comment will change Sony’s way of thinking and give us Sleeping Dogs. My PS+ is paid till October. Good thing I got it cheap from cheapassgamer.com.

Lately it’s been a waste. It’s a very good thing I have other options. I do have an Xbox as well. Hope that doesn’t make me a “hater” again. So I hope they don’t think they are doing me any favors with these monthly updates. Not impressed.

Morgan, you said and I don’t quote lol. That this year will be so big for PLUS and so much coming to us. Ummm did you accidently post that on the NA forums? Cuz Europe is winning.

    • I may have said something like that, but I mean, I stand by Plus and the value it delivers for gamers. So I’ll proudly say that this year will be big for Plus. It’s February dude, so hang tight! But games will continue to drop week after week, as well as discounts, great exclusives, and more. Your $$ go a loooong way with Plus, but hey, it may not be for everyone, but by and large, Plus is one of the best subscription programs out there.

  • There’s nothing for me this week but hey here’s to hoping next week will be better!!

  • As a long time supporter of Plus, I gotta say, for the past 7 months or so, there has just been nothing at all that interests me. The quality of the free games has declined to the level prior to the revamp of Plus, but the sales are still far below what they used to be. And to see every month that our European counterparts are enjoying phenomenal value from Plus, while for me it is no longer even paying for itself at $4.16 / month, is really disheartening. The WORST part is, over the past few months, XBL Gold has had better sales on better games than PS Plus.

It used to be that nearly every game added to PSN would at some point be available at a great discount for Plus members. Not anymore. More and more the sales are only for underselling games.

There is obviously something wrong at SCEA preventing them from giving we NA subscribers the same value as other regions.

  • @sab_krit

I get what your saying about step 2. when I had changed my account it was a few years ago, and I have no need to try changing my address to a EU one, as I’m more then happy with the current state of NA PS+.

I was simply sharing the process I had done when I had to do it prior. if it doesn’t work now, I would suggest contacting Sony Customer Service. As I stated before, even if you manage to get it changed or start a new account, you’ll still have the issue of topping up funds on your account as Credit Cards and PSN Cards are also locked to their perspective regions. basically, what that means is unless you got a EU Credit Card or ordered EU PSN Cards from online, you wouldn’t be able to add funds to that account. you wouldnt be able to buy a PSN Card locally and buy EU content with it. your only solution if you truly want an EU account that badly is to move to the EU. get a job, house, car, credit card, etc there and start your life/trophey count over again.

  • so last week was a vita only game, and this week is a ps3 only game, are you guys going to be dropping it like that every week

  • @JoeGoodsnake : the policies are not the same in both EU and US, i don’t know why people still complain you are not entitled to anything if only you people could read before spend money on a service with unrealistic expectations from your part, you people don’t know which content they will offer this month EU has a different method, is not someting really difficult to understand, also i EU recieves average content sometimes while we recieve way better content, some people just complain for the sake of complaining.

  • Hmm..

Well Gaurdians of middle earth is a bug riddle mess that barely functions, but at least it’s a different type of game for once.

Although it’s a tower defense style thing, so it definately doesn’t count as an RPG, we still WANT AN RPG AT SOME POINT IN THE IGC!!

The deals are good %’s off, although the games don’t appeal to me and there’s some more recycled sales (can you even manage to do one PS Plus update without recycled sales?????.

Not the worst update ever, but once again we get a bug riddled, not popular, not good game (I have it since it’s LotR and it’s not fun at all, unless it gets some major patches/adjustments).

So this weeks’ criticism, you still haven’t been good at all at making sales on new items, not without including old sales. Also the game is nice to see a new genre, but the game itself is quite bad, plus you have to pay to unlock a bunch of the characters…. yet another IGC game that nickel and dimes the customer who get’s it ‘free’.

    Bad form, bad form!

  • I suppose something can be judged by it’s value. Most the comentaries in the Plus US posts are negative ones, and a lot of them are comparing services from both Plus US and Plus EU. I have both accounts since i have addresses that i can use in both places and i can say that i’m pretty much more satisfied with the EU content. I can’t say about this month yet since the posts are weekly made, but if Plus US don’t stand up to EU content value, i’ll be not renewing the US plus this year. And, by comparing the comentaries, again, of the two Plus, you can bet i’ll be not alone. Users in EU are much more satisfied…This LOTR’s free game was a secundary free game in the EU last month, for example. Well, i’m not saying that for the bad of anyone, but see that i just signed up in EU plus because i was not satisfied with US then, and i felt i was missing content. I don’t expect every month to be amazing, but i wish most of the year it could. Once more, not disregarding and disrespecting the work of Morgan or anyone here in PS Blog, but i suppose you have a value problem and of course that asks for a solution. Good luck to us all. :):)

  • I agree with Post #1… I want Sleeping Dogs!! I do thank you guys for DarkSiders, I love the Game-play!

  • For those complaining about LotR game, don’t forget, it isn’t just a mediocre/bad 15$ PSN game instead of a PS3 full game (yet again), but it’s (having owned it for a while) a bug riddled barely functioning mess of a game.

And it charges you to unlock a bunch of the characters, some are in game money but many are real money.

The ‘free’ rental is a nickel and dime you for characters game… then when your plus runs out you lose the game, but you still paid and don’t get the money back if you got extra characters….

This is pretty shameful of PS Plus, it’s like they’re trying to prove they hate us.
