PromoMoney_SEN-H_3

What a start we’ve had to 2013! We here at PlayStation Network have no intention of slowing down anytime soon, and we have a great new promotion and a number of great digital titles coming your way starting next month.

Starting February 26 and throughout the month of March, we’ll be offering you the chance to get $10 back for EVERY $50 you spend using your SEN Wallet! This means that if you spent $100 you’d receive $20 back at the end in April. Everything from games, movies and TV shows — anything that accepts SEN Wallet funds — is fair game. If you were thinking of subscribing to PlayStation Plus, now’s a great time to do it. Grab the 1-year membership for $49.99 to get the most of your PSN experience, plus a little extra cash back.

We also have a number of brand new Day 1 Digital titles coming your way in March, and even better, they’re all available for pre-order starting tomorrow, February 26! Pre-ordering the titles gets you a free theme, and a number of the titles come with additional pre-order bonuses for PSN buyers.

Grabbing these titles is a great way to take advantage of this promotion, as every $50 you spend counts toward getting $10 increments back in April. See below for the full list of titles:

    • Do I have to purchase the one-year PlayStation Plus membership via PSN to get $10 back plus 3 extra months of membership, or can I buy a pre-paid card from a local store and then use the code on PSN while still getting those two perks?

    • Myself, like others I see, JUST re-newed their PS+ account… not more then a day ago. Is there going to be any kind of way for us to automaticlly get in on this for that? If not maybe try Customer Support for individual help? I really would have waited and then would have given more incetive to buy more since I was going to get that anyway!

Also, I never got a loyalty credit :[
Wish we knew the requirments, I’ve been loyal to only PlayStation since 1997 to right now. Have all the PlayStation Underground “magazines”, and was a member of the Gamer Advisory Panel!

Redeeming the prepaid code will only add the funds to your wallet – you would then have to spend that money on something (games, Plus, etc.) within the promotional period for it to count.

Yeah I’m a bad apple. Sorry for sticking up for your consumer rights since your willing to accept any bad deal Sony throws your way. Sony got rid of the backwards compatibility on the PS3 for your benefit, they wanted to make sure that when your PS2 died then you could run out and buy yet another console from them. It had nothing to do with squeezing more money out of each customer rather to benefit loyal PS users.

      Sigh..

    • @152

I’m waiting for an official announcement as well about the loyalty credit requirements.

    • Thanks, I’ll start on earning the rebate by buying Dawnguard today. We have over a month for this promo, so more than fair notice.

By the way, those of you screeching about big meanie Sony not telling you at the beginning of the month need to study harder in school. This is a March promo so they’re being extra nice and giving us a few extra days warning and qualification time.

    • I knew I should have waited to renew my PS+…

    • Renewed my PS+ yesterday… typical luck of mine.

    • I will be getting 1 Year PS+ subscription pretty soon as well as Pre-ordering Bioshock: Infinite today.

Little sad to see that GoW : Ascension isn’t coming to PS Store :-/

      Don’t hold your breath.

And it doesn’t really matter, in the end – some people got it, some people didn’t, it’s as simple as that. It was probably sent to customers who spent over X amount on the PSN store in the past month/year – or more likely, it was sent to people who spent between X and Y amounts – they don’t need to give it to their top spenders, because they already have their business – they would want to give it to the people who spend some, but not enough, because they know that by giving them $10 they’re increasing the chance that they will actually use it toward a larger purchase and spend more than that. For all we know, the criteria could have been exactly the same as this new promotion – if you spent $50 or more in January, for example – they just didn’t advertise it that time.

Luckily, now we all get the chance to get “paid” for our loyalty, and they’ve told us exactly how to do it.

    • @ djtripd,

      consumer rights? Uh, ok?

PS4 is a totally different console, they are under no obligation to provide backwards compatibility. Do I wish it had it? Yes. If you were being somehow forced to buy it, then I could see a point, but as it is, don’t like it? Then don’t buy it. They aren’t going to end the PS3 any time soon, so all the fuss you are making does paint you in a negative light, so yes a bad apple.

But by all means, keep acting as if some grand injustice was done.

    • Well looks like I might actually sign up for Plus again… hmmm.

    • #161

Wow seriously? Do you work for Sony or something?

I’m sure Sony will keep all their promises for the PS4 just like the PS3. Good luck with that.

    • @Title One, yes, that term amused me, too. I think he sees himself a Ralph Nader, fighting for consumer rights. But it’s not rights, it’s wishes. We Americans are so lucky that we’ve gotten spoiled and now consider every possible whim to be tantamount to a Constitutional right.

Yes, BC would be nice, but then the same people would complain it costs $1000. I have empathy for the space issue as I only have 4 HDMI ports and now have 4 PS3s and an Xbox. It’s my right to buy too much but I think that is where the rights claim ends.

    • To all the complainers.. keep complaining.. its very entertaining :)

    • #165

You’re a poet and you don’t know it.

    • Has anyone seen anything on whether they will continue to offer games and discounts to PS+ members on the PS3 after the PS4 comes out?

The reason I’m asking is my current PS+ membership expires in 09/2013, so if I tack on another 15 months of PS+ now, that would take me through the end 2014. Since I won’t be buying a PS4 until after it’s been out a year or two, I don’t want to waste the money on another year of Plus if they’re not going to continue to support on PS3.

    • hey Pierre Gravereau, this blog of day one digital titles remind me of October 2012 digital titles to get 20 dollar back.. is like this October 2012 digital titles like Resident Evil 6 and other games look like Tomb Raider and God of War Ascension will be day one digital if both are not pre-order right ??

    • @167, good question. We don’t know. Plus can’t apply to the PS4 since there won’t be enough games to give us free or discounts. I think it will just be for current options, meaning we’ll have to keep our PS3 to get value out of Plus. They must be planning a different or tiered Plus for the new console.

    • My sub expires until 2014 but I will take advantage on the Plus subscription, on another note, please, release a PS4 model with backward compatibility, I don’t care to pay more for the backward compatibility model, release it as a premium limited console, Please?

I hope you can pass our thoughts with the higher ups.

I’m not American and this might shock you but there are other countries in North America.

Sorry for speaking out against Sony, I didn’t realize that your so emotionally attached. I didn’t say anything about constitutional right but rather referred to consumer law. They are two different things, shocking I know.

    • I know back compatibility is thought to be offered with gaikai, but not everyone has a good internet connection.

    • #167

It’s still not entirely clear how all of that will work, so you have a valid point – on the other hand, say the IGC moves to PS4 – if nothing else, you’ll be racking up free PS4 games for when you do eventually buy one (kind of like I’ve been doing since they launched the Vita IGC).

That said, I don’t see them discontinuing PS3 Plus support, though it wouldn’t surprise me if you had to make a choice between the PS3 and PS4 benefits at some point.

    • aw you cant be serious i just bought black ops 2 season pass yesterday it came up to 50.00 i believe

    • #171

What rights as a consumer do you think you have that are being violated? What consumer law is being broken? All I’m seeing so far is that it bothers you that the PS4 won’t do something that you want it to – and it’s fine for you to feel that way, but it’s not like some grave injustice is being done.

I want my car to fly and my phone to give BJs, but I’m not gonna waste my time complaining that they don’t. :)

    • @171, thanks for letting me know that it’s not only Americans who are whiney. If you’re a foreigner then of course our Constitution wouldn’t be an apt analogy. Consumer laws also vary by country so maybe your country has more coddling rights so you might have a basis for a suit. Good luck on that.

    • i would like to jump all over this ! But i just got me a 4 wheeler ! going to play real life playstation !!! look out mud here i come !!

    • @Pierre Gravereau, please, will the money we receive back have an expiry date?

    • @178- Wut? If you get a code for the cash, just redeem it asap, it’ll stay in your account for you to buy stuff with.
…unless you won’t have access to your PS3 during April? Either way just use the online web browser to redeem codes, etc.

    • Whew! I was afraid of something like this, so I was holding off renewing my plus subscription. Now I’ll get 15 months for $40!!!

    • i still would like 10 dollars for just being loyal

    • #171

When did I ever say it was a grave injustice? I just can’t figure out how the PS community for the most part is alright with how this is being handled? What’s wrong with voicing my opinion that I’m tried of not getting BC each console generation from Sony when Microsoft and Nintendo offer it?

The sad part is for the most part a lot of the people giving me a hard time with buy laundry hamper as long as it has the PS logo on the front, that’s pretty pathetic.

    • Midnight release for Tuesday games or I’ll be going elsewhere. Not waiting until 5-8pm est.

    • @Pierre Graverea, please put Tomb Raider, God Of War Ascension as day one digital.. i want buy both in psn store on day one but i am very glad about bioshock infinite is pre-order. :)

    • seriously? I don’t have anymore money and I just spent 50 bucks on the store. come on, great timing. ah well.

    • This is awesome news, so glad I waited to take advantage of the PS+ promo! Will probably pick up Stardust in the Vita Anniversary sale as well. Now the only question is do I buy two years of PS+ or just one.

    • @167, PS+ will continue, but to what capacity, we just don’t yet know. On the EU blog, someone did ask about the future of PS+ and whether it would really be worth extending their subscription beyond the PS4 release date, and the rep said that they shouldn’t worry about PS+, it’s not going anywhere.

As someone said, since the PS4 won’t have many games at launch, I don’t think PS4 games will be given out right away, though I do suspect they’d eventually get added in. Hopefully it’s handled the same way they handled adding in the Vita, wherein the PS3 IGC continued on, unaffected.

The one thing to also consider is that that current rumor about PS World is that its full subscription price of $89 will include PS+ alongside Gaikai and some other added bonuses. It’s possible that aside from those not forking over the additional $40/yr not getting Gaikai, they also wouldn’t get PS4 games, only PS3 and Vita games. If Sony was to offer PS3, Vita, and PS4 games in PS+, it would make sense to charge a little more (the $89/yr) over the current $50/yr price, but hopefully they’d still leave that $50/yr option for those that don’t own a PS4.

    • I just bought Black Ops 2 Season pass 2 days ago for 49.99 in anticipation for the map pack coming on the 28th… Is there a way for this to count? I feel ripped off and all I was doing was being pro-active.

Ripped off? I swear people are insane.

    • LOL, “ripped off”

      Some people, I swear…..

    • Looking forward to buying Tomb Raider digitally! Thanks for the $10 credit in advance! :)

    • @188, you clearly felt that the BlOps2 Season Pass was worth $50, so there’s no reason to feel ripped off. If you didn’t feel it was worth the price to begin with, you should have waited.

    • #190

To be fair, I’d feel ripped off if I spent $50 on CoD DLC too…

Oh, wait, he was talking about the promo? Nevermind…

    • @CrusaderForever .. i hope so .. i swear to god about it must be going digital on march 5

    • Does this also include dlc (season pass)?

    • I’m with a lot of other people on here in that I just renewed my plus membership a few days ago so I wouldn’t miss out on the 3 free months. Kind of a bummer but as I got the $10 credit in my inbox, I am not too worried.

    • anything that accepts SEN Wallet funds — is fair game, so im guessing Playstation Home purchases is encluded in this deal also right?

    • Forgive the dumb question: if I buy three things that each cost $20 but I buy them one at a time over a few days (totalling $60) will that still count? Or does it need to be one receipt?

I am one of those who just reupped Plus (3 days ago).

    • #182

Yes, I fully admit the “grave injustice” line was hyperbole… but not by much, with all your talk of consumer “rights” and “laws”. My point is that if Sony promised backwards compatibility and didn’t deliver, then you would have every right to complain – but that isn’t what happened. They’re telling you up front that it won’t be offered – so you now have the right to buy the console with that knowledge, or you can choose not to buy it.

You’ve already stated that you understand why it can’t be included due to the new architecture – and I agree that it would be awesome if they could do it, but I’m not losing any sleep over the fact that they can’t. Again, at least they told us.

I will say that if the new Xbox offers BC, that could potentially be a huge blow to Sony – at the very least, it reduces the chances of any existing Xbox customers making the switch. But in the end, it’s all about games for me – the launch lineup is what’s going to make the final decision for me, the rest is just fluff.

And now that you mention it, yes, I probably would buy a laundry hamper with the PS logo on it. That would be kinda awesome.

    • #198

      Yes, that would count.
