The Drop: Week of March 4th 2013 New Releases

Tomb Raider introduces players to the origin of one of the most identifiable video games icons of all-time, Lara Croft. The game features a blend of survival, stealth, melee and ranged combat, and exploration gameplay as a young Lara Croft is forced to push herself past her know limits to survive and unravel the dark history of a forgotten island. In the process she will unlock the adventurer within her. Additional game features include: weapons both familiar and new, upgradable items, a variety of play environments, and human and animal enemies.

MLB 13 The Show allows you to experience the MLB like never before. Its jaw-dropping realism doesn’t just capture every detail and mechanic of the sport; it captures the raw emotion of Major League Baseball. The Show delivers it with such realism, it’s like it really happened. Available for the PS3 and PS Vita.

Enjoy this week The Drop.

Tomb Raider — Tomb Raider delivers an intense and gritty story of the origins of Lara Croft and her ascent from frightened young woman to hardened survivor, armed with only raw instincts and the physical ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance. Superb physics-based gameplay is paired with a heart-pounding narrative in Lara’s most personal, character-defining adventure to date.

MLB 13 The Show (Blu-ray/GameCard) — Swing for the fences with MLB 13 The Show, the 2013 installment of the number-one selling Major League Baseball video game franchise. The game includes new features such as a completely new beginner mode, and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games.

As with last year, you can sync your Season, Franchise and Road to the Show saves between portable and console platforms to continue the action anywhere. MLB The Show also offers the opportunity to play with friends around the world at no extra cost on PlayStation Network.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk — Follows the story of Ayesha Altugle, a girl who has been living alone in a secluded workshop ever since her grandfather died and her younger sister went missing a few years ago. She supports herself by making and selling medicine. As the story begins, she finds out that her younger sister IS alive somewhere in the world. Now, she must devote herself to finding her younger sister. Her journey to keep her promise begins…

MLB 13 The Show (PS Vita) — Swing for the fences with MLB 13 The Show, the 2013 installment of the number-one selling Major League Baseball video game franchise. The PS Vita version of The Show features the same list of upgrades and new features as the PS3 version — exciting new developments such as a completely new beginner mode, and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games.

Bit.Trip Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien — Runner2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed and IGF award winning BIT.TRIP RUNNER. In the style of the BIT.TRIP series, Runner2 is a rhythm-music platforming game. Players will run through fantastic environments, using brand new moves, to brand new soundtracks as they run, jump, slide, kick, and soar toward the goal of tracking.

Fist of North Star 2 Ken’s Rage — Follow the storyline of the entire action manga epic in Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2. The destructive power of the techniques of Hokuto Shinken and Nanto Seiken meet the intense action of the Warriors series to produce a thrilling experience for fans of both series. In addition to the signature moves of the first title, new actions such as ‘sprint’ and ‘dodge’ have been added to the move sets.

Fuel Overdose — I-Friqiya started the development of Fuel Overdose with the ambition of offering a new kind of solo and multiplayer action racing experience, by bringing more variety to the combat gameplay as well as a tactical approach to the genre. They like to think of Fuel Overdose as a “Tactical-Action-Racing” game.

Germinator (Also on PS Vita) — Three of a kind won’t help you in Germinator, but you will need to crash your germ bubbles into those of the same color. Upon collision, they’ll combine and grow until they POP! Be sure to pop them quickly before they get too big and overrun the house. Timing and accuracy is the key to preventing the various germs from rising too high. Toss in PlayStation Move motion controller support and full 1080p visuals and you’ve got a messy good time!

Port Royale 3: Pirates & Merchants — In Port Royale 3, players will embark upon an epic adventure through the Caribbean during the turbulent 17th century where the naval powers of Spain, England, France and the Netherlands all fight for supremacy in the colonies. Players take on the role of a young captain trying to build his fortune and reputation in the new world colonies. The campaign consists of two different paths for the young protagonist to follow: adventurer and trader.

  • hi Rey Gutierrez, is any news about crash bandicoot PSone classics in ps vita store?

  • The cover for The Show sure is ugly. You should have put Mike Trout on it.

  • @3 you should get the game i have it for about 3 days now and I love it, Worth the money and simply a true Tomb Raider game :)

  • @32 since when? I’ve got it on my PS3 and have been trying to get it on there for awhile (same with Crash) via transfer and it’s not even compatible there.

  • hey Rey Gutierrez, is Tomb Raider Offically going to hit psn store on March 5 ? it kinda confuse me when it is on list under Playstation Network

  • 42

Get a 1TB Hard Disc, They are so dirt cheap anymore. I bought one after the DCUO fiasco and buying some more retail games on digital after they drop price. Not to mention all the ps+ stuff.

I still have about 600GB out of some odd 900 left.

  • Thanks for the update!
What is the file size of TOMB RAIDER?
    Thank you.

  • dammit still no Terraria its brakes my heart

  • Will there be a (ps3/vita) bundle on psn for mlb13 the show?

  • Tomb Raider and Atelier Ayesha for me. However, I’ll wait a few months for the prices to go down. It makes little sense to pay $50-$60 for a PS3 game with the (supposed) new generation upon us.

  • Ok i never wrote on here before.
    But were is nsuns3 at.
And if theres a way can you made it a download.
No naruto games are downloadable on ps3.
Theres one for psp but not ps3 why.
Hope you answer an thank you for your time. :3

  • Rey do you know if runner 2 will be releasing vita the same day and a price for germinator on vita?

  • I think im gonna lose my mind if they screw us on the ps plus game this month im almost expecting it but im trying to keep hope

  • The demo for Knytt Underground came out last week though…

  • Tomb Raider is a great game.. im sure everybody will enjoy it :)

  • @70 Was already said in the comments for the Runner 2 blog that the Vita version is not coming at the same time. Said expected sometime in spring or summer (don’t remember which).

  • So, there’s PSN maintenance scheduled for tomorrow to run through pretty much the whole day. Usually that means the store is down for that time.

Will the Day 1 digital titles (or at the very least, MLB 13 the Show) really be available at midnight? The PSN maintenance has to be completed right on schedule for that to happen.

  • WHY IS NO ONE FREAKING OUT ABOUT MIDNIGHT CLUB 1 & 2 FINALLY BEING ON PSN???????????????????? THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!! :D Hope the original soundtracks are there!!!!!

  • Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 comes out too doesn’t it?

  • Will Tomb Raider be a digital release?

  • MIDNIGHT CLUB series for me was the best in the street racers games, so I AGREE

    Tomb Raider OK!!!
and Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk AMAZING!!!

Know I want it in DIGITAL version . . . Atelier series is so good but I want to download from the PSN, please do something!!!

There are so many good series in the oblivion, take them back!!!!

  • @79

Atelier Ayesha is Day 1 digital as well, it’s up for preorder in the PSN store.

  • I don’t understand. Is Kens Rage 2 going to have a physical disc copy here now, or is it a playstation plus game? It’s already on psn, that’s why I ask.

  • might buy runner 2 for every available platform..

  • Guys, would it be possible for you to negotiate with Square-Enix for the stateside release on PSN of the game Einhander? It is available on the JP PSN. It is simply THE best schmup ever created, and it would be fantastic to play on the Vita Screen. It is one of the most ambitious and overlooked titles in good old Squaresoft catalog, and a true gem of the PSX library of games. Pleeeeeease?

  • Fuel Overdose is gonna be awesome

  • Dangisuckatgamin

Don’t get the TR MP hate… It’s still got a SP mode that the MP doesn’t even hurt.
I haven’t tried it (Probably never will) but if you don’t like something just don’t play it… don’t sit on here and whine like a 3 year old. Most SP games will become MP and COOP (which COOP makes games more fun IMO)

  • @NOMAD

NO IT’S NOT, STOP SPEWING NONSENSE!

  • What about naruto shippuden ultimate ninja storm 3?
I guess you should put it
    Great drop though.

  • Tomb Raider… YES!!! Can;t wait to play it and also, Runner 2.

  • Very unhappy about Tomboy Raider. Haven’t modern video game companies done enough to ruin video game franchises this gen? Other than Tomb Raider, these franchises have been ruined: Final Fantasy, DmC, Resident Evil, Splinter Cell, etc.

Oh and I warn all of you that the new Tomboy Raider has QTEs in it. Me personally, I am unable to play a game with QTEs in it because QTEs make me throw up; they make me really sick because they’re so horrible. Same reason why I can’t play RE6.

I agree with comment #5 and hope this game bombs horribly. Know that there are real Tomb Raider fans who are not happy with these changes. You all who are supporting the death of classic franchises and the death of the video game industry are trolls.

  • I’ll be picking up some ps2 classics this week!

  • Hm… nothing for me from the Drop… hopefully the Plus update and the full Store update will have something more to my liking.

And seriously, the whining will never stop. As soon as you give the complainers what they want, they’ll just start complaining about something else. dragon_night is a perfect example of this. On here for months now, constantly complaining about Kingdom Hearts. Now that we have a confirmed release, they’ve moved on to complaining about Spyro… it’ll never end.

  • Nice Drop. I was kinda hoping for Sonic Heroes for PS2 classics though haha

  • Unless this is a new demo… Knytt Underground’s demo already came out last week.

  • MP_is_for_Chumps lollllllllllllllllllllll between that comment and your name I got a good laugh hahahahaha I agree that the MP is unnecessary but I don’t want the game to bomb! Hahahahaha I hope it’s good but I hope the singleplayer is a thousand times better :) and most of all, I HOPE IT’S ON PSN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Otherwise it’s gonna be awhile before I’ll be getting it.

  • Where is Terraria? I need that to complete my spending of $50…

  • not interested in tomb raider i feel like its Devil May Cry all over aggain, changing the character apearance, story, personality at the point where its just simply another character and game and is only using the name “tomb raider’ just to “have a name” so it has better chances of selling instead of just making it a new IP. NO THANKS sad to see franchises getting these awful “reboots”

  • no mention on Naruto UNS 3 or MLB 2k13?

I can see leaving out 2K baseball since you’re promoting The Show since it’s one of the few Vita titles to come out (not that it’s fair, but it sounds like something Sony would do), but that’s at least 2 games missing this week from the drop.

Every week this drop post gets less and less accurate lately.

  • :) Tomb Raider and Sim City (PC)…. I’m busy.

  • im a fan of tomb raider. but this time i dont think i have the heart to see Lara Croft in misery and deaths. Isaac Clark is one thing… Lara Croft… no, please dont.

  • Tomb Raider and Atelier Ayesha for me.

These drops have become so poorly done. The last one was worse, but this one uses two PSN banners. Really? Lists a demo that came out last week…

@46: Yes, let’s ignore the fact that there is Midnight Club a pretty popular series being released this week and focus on Dora from last week (where we also got a game that costs over $100 if you want it new on PSone).

“Classic” is a marketing term. Deal with it.

@88: If ditching archaic design and terrible gameplay (in relation to… you know, 2013 standards) is “the death of a classic franchise” then I welcome “the death” of Tomb Raider. It’s about time it got out of the 90s.
