  • Awsome update! I was really looking forward to this, thanks Sony!

As a side note, Morgan, I kinda need help with this. I got my plus subscription last may, maybe april, and I was checking when it expires and it says 08-02-2013. I don’t get, why does it expire 3 months later than it should? Was there some kind of bonus and I got a few more months or is something wrong with my account? Thanks

PS: sorry to ask here, but I don’t know where should I ask

    @ Joe

One more thing Joe… I love how you ignored my personal evaluation of Plus, showing how I personally had already gotten my money back WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH, and that’s only from THREE games, and a small discount on another game. Other than Closure, I didn’t even touch the IGC, which is an amazing value in itself with it’s 18 titles (which adds up to… I don’t know, why don’t YOU do the math, genius).

And considering the surprise discounts that we’ll get throughout the rest of the year, some of which will likely be for games that you would buy anyway at regular price, the value of Plus is beyond spectacular and WAY BEYOND OBVIOUS. Oh yeah, don’t forget the cloud storage as well, which is an extremely valuable service by itself…

Your fight against SCEA is absurd. An absolute embarrassment. And I know you realize it now, too. But you’re too far in at this point, and too proud to admit to error, so you’re just going to keep damage control mode going until you find a way to fade into the background and hope nobody remembers, right?

  • come on!!! I just got Tekken 6 for psp! This is bullying!

  • BTW! This new format of update is better! At least for the month, we won’t buy what we’ll be getting for free* on the same month

  • PrimeroIncognito

    @ NeoBahamut911

    Agreed 100%

It’s good to see somebody else with some sensibility. AND HUMILITY!

For cryin’ out loud, it’s the humility that is mostly lacking in these whiners.

Appreciate what you have, Joe! It could definitely be A LOT worse. And I’m not just referring to gaming, or Plus, but your life in general… it could be A LOT worse. Some people don’t have electricity or running water. Some people don’t even have food. Stop being so damn self-centered.

  • I just signed up for my Plus account last week. Now I’m thinking, what took me so long! Man, it was worth it, just for the Vanquish download alone. Up next: Vita!

  • Well, I take back my nice comments after just realizing that 95% of the discounts were only for Vita. I was already to buy Lego Lord of the Rings for PS3 and saw that it was only for Vita. Was so happy and now very sad and upset once again at the PSN NA.

  • PrimeroIncognito

One more post and then I’m done with this again for this week…

Joe, another flub you made. Bringing up the current prices of these games focuses once again on the flawed “objective value” argument, which, as I explained last week, is entirely irrelevant when discussing subject matter like this. This isn’t food or clothing we’re talking about here, such things that are necessities, and you will need whether you like it or not. Gaming is a hobby; a voluntary venture. The sentimental value, or satisfaction level, is measured entirely by the consumer. It will ALWAYS vary. This is why you will see people refusing to bid more than $5 on eBay for a particular item, while another person is willing to bid thousands. Objective arguments DO NOT apply here. I can’t believe you tried it again, honestly. Just let go. You’re wrong. Period. Accept it.

Tell you what, I’ll keep track of the value I’ve received from Plus over the next 15 months. At the end of my subscription, I’ll post the final report, revealing how much I’ve saved/gained in relation to my $50 investment. I can already tell right now that the numbers are going to make you haters cringe in embarrassment.

  • Prime, I can see your point at the end but I won’t cringe in embarrassment as there hasn’t been hardly anything added to the IGC that I’ve wanted, and a few that I downloaded were simply because they were free but I haven’t touched most of them. This update, I was happy about getting to play Spec Ops The Line but when I saw that the majority of discounts for plus members were only for VIta owners, I lost all happiness I had for this weeks update. To me, it’s like a slap in the face because I’m not a handheld gaming fan and I prefer my home consoles.

  • Dude, Primer you are an idiot, you know January, February and March updates put your savings at 150 percent, it doesnt matter what the quality is, Sony has no control over what gets free or not, its the game developers, I know this for a fact, Sony does not give games out for free because they can, game developers go to them instead.

And on the getting your money back, the games from the past 2 months and this month equal 80 dollars and that just the new stuff, for people just getting it this year, they have the 3 main launch free games, LBP2 Infamous 2 and All 4 one, putting it at 140 of free games, and that’s with me taking it lightly, then you go into the free DLC we have gotten.

So for one last time saying it.

Sony does not just give free games out to PS plus members, The game developers do, The developers are the ones that give what ever country they wish.

Europe gets better stuff because the games are way more expensive their, so the game developer make it more easier.

You want to know how I got my information, talk to costumer support, it is not that hard.

  • It also doesnt matter what the individual person wants, because everyone wants something different, again all that matters is adding up the costs of the free games that are provided, which does in fact come out to more than you payed.

  • stop complaining people, this is a really good update

  • This is so sad. How u guys think that the us ps plus is so great, have you all realize that EU ps plus is so much better then ours. We got the crap games. I been a ps plus since day one and there is really no good games we get, the only good games we gotten was when they announce at E3. Other then that nope EU has been getting alot of AAA Games, that we dont even have. All i say is sony u better step it up or i will not be a ps plus member for long. Spec ops is not a good shooter.

  • I am happy with this update as I get another cool game that is already not in my collection.

I haven’t been a + member long, but 15 months for 50 bucks and I have already downloaded R&C: All 4 One, Payday:The Heist, Closure, Vanquish, Guardians Of Middle Earth and now Spec Ops. Not to mention the discounts I got on Counter Strike: Global Offensive and The Walking Dead season pass.

Based on what I spent vs what I already got, I already got back what I paid and then some and it has only been a little over a month.

Morgan, the more you try to please everyone, the more likely you will fall flat on your face. Just my opinion, but good job.

  • so again how long do I have to get a plus card for Vanquish and CLosure or are they already gone? :(

  • i am so happy, i had my vita now for 1 year, i just get ps+.
i sold my pspgo to get enouth mony for a 8go card and my ps+ one year
TO PLAY FREE MEGAMAN X A REMAK OF THE OLD GAME FOR PSP
TO GET 3 psp OLD GAME AND A PS1????
i d better keept my psp, but too late, i m geting anuyed wit all this confusing “good surprises”
my trophy just get updated once automatikly since my subscription
    :((((((((((((((
i used to get emails befor informing of my transactions and refunds, news and announcements, now that i hav don wat u told, u just forgeting me

  • @ Dark.

You get however long you can get as the games are available still, but once membership expires so do the games.

Personally, the deal they have right now for 49.99 for 15 months is really tough to beat and well worth it for the content you get. I have over 70 retail games and I they have still offered me something I didn’t have in the past month of membership.

  • I just got Vita last week and got my plus membership too. but am I the only who is not seeing March free games? I still see these games with full price.

  • @morgan

i found at EU store they give Sleeping Dog Full Game ,
is there any chance to have it also in US store for PS+ ?

    please replay

  • Finally a great update! a full retail game, a good one and not a lot of people played it.
    The cave? AWESOME!

But for now it dosen’t make up for all the other updates.
If plus can finally bring us more proper games I will consider renewing.

  • i don’t really understand why people want the ‘monthly outlook’ it will definitely reduce my traffic to this site, so i suppose if that was your goal, then, yay??? i enjoy coming here every monday/tuesday to see whats on offer and whether it’s a good week to renew my subscription or not. spec ops is a good game, a shame they didnt do well in terms of overall sales, but hopefully this helps the studio involved to make more great games.

  • @PrimeroIncognito

Wow! Four comments all dedicated directly to me? Amazing!

And just like last week you don’t address the meat of my comment to you, and instead fly into a nonsensical rage citing things I never stated in an attempt to win a non-existent argument with a strawman. Where did I say anything about having not having received my $50 back?

In case you couldn’t read, my comment was not directed at SCEA at all, but directly to you. You stated that people were simpletons for not realizing that value did not change this week and that the monthly outlook was the sole reason that people were in good spirits. I broke down your argument by showing you the drastic jump in value that we got this week. Case closed, Primero, nothing to argue anymore, especially over 4 posts.

Anyway, like last week, I’ll look forward to seeing you yet again next week.

  • @chunterosa

I think they’re actually going to be mixing the two forms now. One monthly announcement that includes everything for the month minus the discounts and dates of release. Then weekly posts that show what will be released that specific week with discounts for that week.

I think this should work out quite well in appeasing both sides of the argument.

  • I thought dead or alive 5 was coming in march

  • xx432, it’s only a really good update if you own a Vita. This week’s discounts, 1 small discount for PS3 users, 18 big discounts for Vita users. You think that’s good for PS3 users?

  • PrimeroIncognito

    @ Joe

I changed my mind about leaving this alone after I read your comment. What an absolute debacle. Observe as I pick apart your failure of a post, and expose the dishonesty and hypocrisy you continue to engage in.

“you don’t address the meat of my comment to you”

This is exactly what you’ve done to every post of mine. I make points, you ignore them, and instead focus on attacking my character.

    “fly into a nonsensical rage”

Not only are my posts the opposite of nonsense, since I am posting facts as well as reasonable opinions, but I’m not raging at all. You’ve never seen me rage, and I can tell you right now, if I was raging, I wouldn’t be interested in typing.

    “citing things I never stated”

I’ve never put words in your mouth. Show one example where I claimed you said something that you really didn’t say. I don’t do that.

“Where did I say anything about having not having received my $50 back?”

I never said you said that. Hmm… seems as if YOU are the one putting words in other people’s mouths. Hypocrisy.

  • PrimeroIncognito

    @ Joe

“my comment was not directed at SCEA at all”

No, but your entire argument and reason for being here is your peculiar dissatisfaction with SCEA, as you admitted earlier.

“You stated that… the monthly outlook was the sole reason that people were in good spirits.”

If you knew anything about psychology, you’d know it’s true. I didn’t notice a single post mention anything about the monetary value applied to the offered games, therefore, it couldn’t have been that. Did you notice that someone else earlier had suggested the same thing? And did you notice that Morgan replied to him in agreement? Are you going to attack them? Of course not. You’re fixated on me, just like all the other haters here. Which makes me wonder… who are you? You just might be one of the usual fools who likes to bicker with me hiding under another name. So, your main account is… ??? Because neither “JoeGoodsnake2” or the one you had before it have an active profile, so, what’s your main account?

  • PrimeroIncognito

“drastic jump in value that we got this week”

As I stated earlier, which you so conveniently ignored (which not only proves that I DID address your points, but since I’m repeating myself, it also proves that YOU are the one who ignores my points, contrary to your dishonest claim of the opposite), the value of the games offered is always going to fluctuate. There have been previous months where the current suggested monetary value of the offered games was higher than that of Jan. or Feb. 2013. It’s an irrelevant point. And since no one mentioned monetary value besides you, we know that wasn’t the motivation behind the majority expressing satisfaction. It was clearly a psychological trick. And you ignored my point (as usual) about the monetary value of the games being offered in both Jan and Feb, by themselves, exceeding the yearly subscription cost. You posted the numbers yourself. The evidence of the incredible value of Plus was right in your own possession, yet somehow it failed to register in your brain.

  • PrimeroIncognito

    @ Joe

“Case closed, Primero, nothing to argue anymore”

Agreed. Because you lost. And I must tell you, aside from the dishonesty and the hypocrisy, another big reason you keep failing is because your obsessively fixated on pressing the “objective value” argument, even though it’s entirely irrelevant in a discussion like this. Again, notice how nobody else mentioned monetary value. Only you. The excitement over this update was obviously generated by:

    1. The popularity of the games involved, and…

    2. The presentation of the entire month’s weekly updates in advance.

If you don’t believe me, read the comments. You will see an abundance of evidence for these two things… and absolutely no evidence whatsoever of what you thought the happiness was all about.

  • PrimeroIncognito

    Oh, one more thing Joe…

Your previous comment, “Where did I say anything about not having received my $50 back?”, IMPLIES (take note of the emboldened word, wiseguy… I’m not putting words in your mouth) IMPLIES that you have indeed had your $50 investment returned to you. Well, IF this is the case, then where’s your dissatisfaction with the Plus program coming from? As long as you get your money back, it’s all good, right? Even if you don’t gain a single penny, and it’s all a wash in the end, there should be no hard feelings, correct?

Your entire agenda, and the motivation behind it, appears to be highly peculiar to me.

  • This is indeed the best post ever. Adding Joe Danger and The Cave to my collection will definitely be a plus.

  • Man; I’ve been a Plus member for less than a week, and I’ve already downloaded over $100 in free games. If you’re thinking about getting a Plus subscription, make no mistake: it is SO worth it. :D

  • @PrimeroIncognito

This is actually getting pretty scary at this point. 5 comments just to rattle me? Looks like I’ve gotten under your skin, Primero :)

Just so everyone knows what a crazy fella you are, here’s your original post:

“Seeing all the weeks’ updates at once is the reason why there is a lack of complaints. It’s a psychological thing… heh heh…

If only Spec Ops had been announced for this week, and then on the subsequent weekly updates ONLY Joe Danger 2, and then ONLY Tekken 6, and then ONLY The Cave had been announced, etc., then people would complain a lot more… due to the APPEARANCE that they aren’t getting what they feel is their money’s worth. You’d see a lot of complaining about “too many PSN games, not enough retail titles”, or, “not matching the value of EU”.

If for no other reason, the monthly updates are better simply because it reveals to the simpletons the value of Plus that they were receiving all along, only they were too spoiled or stubborn to realize it. Now they have no excuse for complaining. It’s blatantly obvious that THIS MONTH’S OFFERINGS ALONE pay off the yearly investment fee of $50.”

  • @Primero

Here’s your second post on the subject:

“I signed up for Plus just last week (Feb. 25), and I’ve already downloaded Closure (a $14.99 value), got a $3 discount on Urban Trials, and from this update, I can see that I will be downloading Joe Danger 2 and The Cave (a $14.99 value, each). Altogether, that’s going to be a total of $47.97 worth of “content gained and/or money saved” by the end of March, just from the SELECT FEW titles available that I’m interested in.

(And don’t forget the cloud storage!)

And of course, because of the $10 loyalty voucher I had received, it was like I got 15 months of Plus for a mere $40. Looking at it that way, I’ll already have my subscription paid for (and then some) by the end of this month!

I’ll still have 14 months left after that… and yet, some people think Plus isn’t worth the money?

Yes, beef_child, PlayStation Plus haters are indeed simpletons, if they can’t understand First Grade-level mathematics. You are free to disagree, however. :)”

Note: no one stated Plus isn’t worth the money.

  • @Primero

    My original refutation:

“I noticed you are once again back with more asinine comments. The best part is that you actually claimed that some of the valid complaints from members are actually occurring because they are simpletons that cannot do math.

Here’s a little math for ya:

Value of January’s NA Free Rentals – $89.95
Value of February’s NA Free Rentals – $70.45
Value of March’s NA Free Rentals – $149.95

They’ve upped their game monetarily, which is why I and many others encouraged their work this week. A full comparison has already been prepared for the last two months, and the results aren’t pretty. This month is the first month where they are going in the right direction, at least monetary-value wise.

Unless of course, even my calculations are a result of the mirage caused by a monthly update.”

  • @Primero

    to your comments in 777:

“This is exactly what you’ve done to every post of mine. I make points, you ignore them, and instead focus on attacking my character.”

“Not only are my posts the opposite of nonsense, since I am posting facts as well as reasonable opinions, but I’m not raging at all. You’ve never seen me rage, and I can tell you right now, if I was raging, I wouldn’t be interested in typing.”

From your own comment in 745:

“Boy, you just can’t handle when someone makes a POINT against your POINTLESS vendetta against SCEA. Calling my post asinine when I said nothing but facts. Your desperation is showing. Your facade is cracking, and your narcissist nature is shining through. ”

Ad hominem, and your “facts” are shown above for everyone to see now.

  • @Primero

“I’ve never put words in your mouth. Show one example where I claimed you said something that you really didn’t say. I don’t do that.”

    again, from 745:

“Look at YOUR OWN post to me. You posted the value of the games. They all add up to MORE than $50, the rate of a yearly subscription. Shot yourself in the foot, buddy. My point stands. The value of Plus is blatantly apparent.”

Why are you arguing this as if I did say it, if you admit I didn’t? Your own posts have foiled you.

  • @Primero

    To your comment 778:

“I didn’t notice a single post mention anything about the monetary value applied to the offered games, therefore, it couldn’t have been that. ”

That’s sound reasoning if I ever heard it. I must have changed my mind about why this post was good only after your post, since I didn’t explicitly state the financial reasons why it’s a good update. Sound as hell.

“You’re fixated on me, just like all the other haters here.”

You should see a therapist, Primero. And for the record, none of the others who say the same in any way attacked regular posters with grade school name-calling. You did.

  • Can I please trade in this crappy shooter for something actually decent?

Plus why does this shooter follow all the shooter cliches, such as linearity? The game is a hallway. No exploration, no side quests, no puzzles, no substance, just shooting people in the face. So sick of all these generic freaking shooters, they’re all the same and so mediocre and such piss poor quality.

    Game sucks. Give us non-pewpews!

  • @Primero

    To your comment 779:

I thought you argued in facts? This is just conjecture unless you do what I did and find those months where we got $150 or more in terms of rental value. Until then, it’s just hot air.

    To your final comments:

“The excitement over this update was obviously generated by … The popularity of the games involved”

    Hold that thought.

“Your previous comment, “Where did I say anything about not having received my $50 back?”, IMPLIES (take note of the emboldened word, wiseguy… I’m not putting words in your mouth) IMPLIES that you have indeed had your $50 investment returned to you.”

    (continued)

  • (conitnued)

No, it doesn’t. A man who says nothing, is not arguing for one nor the other. Be careful what your mind concludes, implication would still have to be strong enough to warrant that any other possibility cannot be. In this case, I can simply make a stand the other way without contradicting your conclusion or my original statement. I won’t though, since this is not what I’m arguing about, it’s what you’re trying to make me argue about.

If I were to follow your logic, I can say that your “excitement” comment above implies that even you believe that the popularity of the games offered has risen, wouldn’t that further imply that it’s more than just a posting format? I don’t follow this logic, of course, because I know where you stand. I’m simply showing you that you can’t make such conclusions.

Just play nice dude, it’s a blog. There’s no reason to insult anyone or be a general prick to everyone. Just chill out, and I’ll leave you alone.

If you want to continue our arguing where it won’t bother others, please let me know. I’m more than happy to shift venues to something more private if you’d like.

  • i have to say i am impressed, bought 3 months on psn plus and i actually feel inclined on getting a full year after the 3 months end, the value you get is simply ridiculous!, which is why i love it usually in this things i don’t even bother subscribing even though sometimes there is the occasional good stuff but psn plus…man it’s arguably..no, not arguably, it is the best deal in gaming in current gen that you can get, hell the service pays itself in 3 months imo(you could even say 1 month but because i only download the titles I’m interested in to me it’s usually in 3 months)

sleeping dogs, infamous 2 and now this, I’m not usually impressed in games (hell i wasn’t impressed by many of the things shown at the playstation 4 reveal)

  • I don’t understand why everyone is “impressed” with this update. I’m not going to complain because I never complain about free stuff, but at the same time I am not sure whats so impressive about this week’s deals. Spec Ops the line is just another 1 player fps… we just got another one (Vanquish) and I downloaded it but it doesn’t look like anything special. Other than that ho hum game we got discounts on a bunch of sub-par games that I’ve never heard anyone excited about.

Again… I’m NOT posting to complain… just posting to express disbelief at the excitement.

I think it boils down to psychology – I wonder how people will react the next 3 weeks when they don’t see any new games announced for march because they head about them all in week 1.

  • Great Update, I’ve been waiting to play Spec Ops for a while. Def an improvement this year! Thank you!

  • why has joe danger not appeared on my instant game collection

  • Time to purchase myself a Vita :D (Hoping someday PS2 games will be available for it) **GTA San Andreas Hint hint**

  • Any way we could get an RSS feed for the Plus updates?
