PS Vita System Software Update (v.2.10)

Don Mesa's Avatar Posted by Director, Product Planning & Platform Software Innovation, SCEA

Coming later this evening is the next system software update for PS Vita. We’ve listened to your feedback and have included many improvements to make your PS Vita experience much more enjoyable, such as adding a new folder system that allows you to organize your games and apps.

PS Vita v2.10: Folders

Here’s a look at some of the new enhancements you can expect with software update v.2.10:

  • Create folders to more easily manage your favorite application icons on the home screen, with up to 10 icons in each folder and a maximum of 100 on the home screen (including icons inside the folders).
  • Verify which PS Vita card you are using by looking at the home screen’s info bar. You can also save the layout of your home screen icons in the memory card.
  • Added video support allows you to play videos within the browser (memory card required; some videos are not supported).
  • New email enhancements allows you to view HTML messages, add multiple email addresses to your contacts, and easily search your messages using the new search feature.
  • PlayStation Plus members will be able to automatically update PlayStation Mobile format software and upload game save data onto online storage using 3G connection.
  • New “Mute Automatically” option will mute your PS Vita speakers when your headset is unplugged and pause your music when using the music app.

Hi jay15445, I just used my Vita without the charger and now its working fine!! Thanks for your tip. I’m just curious because I used it before with the charger connected and never had this problem before.
Anyway, thanks again dude.

UPDATE SUCKS (i.e BROKEN))

– (Sony) Verify which PS Vita card you are using by looking at the home screen’s info bar? Does not verify what PS Vita card I’m using while looking at the home screen’s info bar.

– (Sony) You can also save the layout of your home screen icons in the memory card? False and misleading, YOU can’t “save” your layout! When you organize your icons on your home screen and switch to a different memory card, all of your icons are magically moved up,down, inside out, pointless and defeats the purpose to give us the option to create folders and when all the icons get messed up when you insert a different memory card.

Folders is the feature most missed so far. Now, would be nice to be able to change my profile picture for a premium one, without having to buy a PS3 or login with my account on a friends PS3.

Also, I want to be able to have a Japanese PSN account and keep my USA account without all the tricky part. There are a lot of Japanese games that I want to buy, don’t you want my money, Sony? :'(

Japanese games are already expensive, add that to the shipping and you have a $80~$100 game. Well, at least I do have the option to play Japanese games on my Vita, I hate so much the 3DS region lock… missing a lot of good games.

First thanks for all your hard works. Folders are cool but Sony REALLY should address the inability to play videos on Sony’s own site…and especially since the update supposedly addressed this very issue… ijs

P.S. IF ANYONE GETS THE VIDEO FEATURE TO WORK PLEASE PUT THE
SITE HERE I CANT SEEM TO LOCATE A SITE YET…ignoring youtube cuz I have the app. I’ll check there last.

1: pleaso provide option to download videos the old way. I want to watch them on the road.

2: browser typing or maybe typing in general is messed up. when editting words are mixed and do not come out correctly.

3. when gong to sleep mode my whole post was deleted. I had to start over.

4. i’d like wallpaper function inside folders.

I do not know if this is a tad late , or will even get noticed.

One of the problems that customers have had, is the disorganization of the downloaded area of the PS Store.

Is there not a way for Playstation to maintain the original copy of the purchase history as-is, but allow the buyer to reset the download list and possibly redownload.

This would allow the buyer to organize, and allow Playstation to keep its permanent copy.

Thank You.

(Still hoping for a console joystick settings function, such as the one in Socom 3, and/or possibly allowing the setup configuration)

Ok, the new update is great, but there is one thing that sony seems to be neglecting. Bluetooth functionallity. Sure, you can connect with other devices, but it will not auto connect (i.e. with your computer, phone, car stereo) forcing you to reconnect manually each time. Anyone that has a car stereo with bluetooth knows how annoying this is. Please sony, its a simple fix, please work it into the next update
