Soul Sacrifice: Demo Out Today, Saves Transfer to Full Game

Soul Sacrifice on PS Vita

I hope you’re ready for Soul Sacrifice — the demo will be available this afternoon on PSN!

Your first reaction to the demo might be, “Holy moly, this is a LOT of demo!” …And you’d be right! The entire first chapter of the full game is included, all of which is playable with up to three other friends via online or ad-hoc multiplayer. Inafune-san made it a special point for the demo to be quite substantial, as you can read in his comments below:

“The number one reason for the Soul Sacrifice demo to have a lot of content was to show the users the full attraction of Soul Sacrifice. We knew that cutting out a small section of the game and saying, ‘Isn’t this part fun?’ would not show the users the full potential of the game. We figured that it wouldn’t make sense if the users could not have the ‘I want to play more’ feeling.

“So, we decided we want to provide, ‘at the very least,’ this amount of the game for the users. That is why, if you compare it to a standard demo, this became such a substantial piece. But we are confident that this will not become something negative where the users will feel like, ‘We played enough.’ After we released the demo version in Japan we received many voices, saying ‘[I] want to play more’ and ‘I want to get more hooked on this game.’ That is why we believe making this demo with this amount of volume and detail was a success.”

Soul Sacrifice is a long adventure, with dozens of hours of gameplay. The demo is not only a great way to sample the full experience, but also to let you get a head start on that adventure before the game releases. To that end — this part is important, pay attention! — the save data will carry over to the full game! Not only that, if you do carry over demo save data to the full game, you will receive an exclusive bonus item: “Spirits’ Heart”! It summons a powerful stone golem that will fight for you!

Trying the demo and carrying over your save data is the ONLY way to get “Spirits’ Heart,” so why not give it a shot if you’re already interested in the game?

The Soul Sacrifice demo offers a single player mode AND a multi-player mode. Multi-player can be played via both ad-hoc and online, but please be aware that multi-player and all online features for the demo will be terminated and will no longer be available on April 30th, 2013. After this date, you will still be able to play the demo offline and ad-hoc. Of course, that’s not a problem, since you’ll all be picking up the full game when it launches on April 30th, right? *wink*

Don’t forget to pre-order! Not only do you get three exclusive Magic Offerings and two exclusive costumes, but you’ll also get the Japanese voice-over audio pack for free!

  • I beat cerberus three times due to awesome party members~
I got my cool venom spells and then some~

  • Members that the game match me up with are usually a mixed bag…

  • yep…had a guy join my group who died repeatedly and kept spamming to save him…..i only have so much hp…
so i sacked him and he rage quit

  • Ok ,I’m hooked…will be getting this game…

  • This game is awesomely fun.

  • Rite now having the network error…wth!

  • I’ve farmed Cerberus a bunch of times now. Got some very good groups.
One thing, for the love of all that is holy, if you use your forbidden, REPAIR YOURSELF WITH A TEAR! I hate it when I start a boss and all 3 of my teammates drop to their knees at the beginning. If you die 10 seconds in because you have half defense, I will sacrifice you right away.

I also discovered a cool trick I’ve never seen anyone else use. When Harpy uses her sucking in thing to swallow you, quickly use the AOE healing spell. Healing Bloom or whatever. When the spell is active, it cancels out her “suction” and you stay perfectly safe cemented in place. Saved me countless times now, give it a shot!

  • If you hold your black rite, it works too. Usually someone else gets eaten before it’s done charging, so i cancel and beat the harpy up while it’s chewing. Then I revive my pal who saved me unintentionally, of course.

  • I should check this out finally.

  • Ahh..cerberus…sigh…

  • Still haven’t tried multiplayer yet as I was trying to do as much as I could do solo online, but I’ve now made it to Cerberus. So…yea. Gonna have to head online. Because damn.

Also, this convo should make the move to a full SS forum, because as more people play this demo, more are going to want to discuss strategy and the like. I for one am fully sold and will now be preordering the thing.

  • This game is awesome. I hope we see a huge spike in vita sales come May.

  • I tried to solo Cerberus once. Lasted all of about 20 seconds. Need a decent group all near level 20. Did it once with two people actually. The other dude was really, really good. There was a third but he was like level 9 and was dead most of the time lol.

  • Pre ordered!

  • How I shot web?

  • How do you get the summoning plant skill?

  • LilPoison05

You get newer items for beating the cerberus 3 times?

  • You get more variety/quantity of spells depending on the score you get when you complete a mission and I think also for boss break-offs. Either way break-offs affect the score.

Spells you can’t get under those circumstances need to be fused, or are offered as reward for sacrificing a player as well as being the sacrifice. Sacrificing a player also gives points, btw. While sacrificing is benefitial, a lot of players, especially those who aren’t lvl capped don’t like being killed off, and sacrificing shouldn’t be done unwisely. How I do it: only sacrifice people who request it, and only when the boss is weak. Preferably when its aura is dark red.

Also, just to spread strategy, people should counter-kill mobs. My sides hurt to much laughing when i kill the 3 goblins that spawn closer to the harpy as fast, or faster, than 3 people can kill 2 already spawned.

If this conversation moves to a forum, I’d like a link or something (thank you).

  • 1 week for Soul Sacrifice,lads!

  • I know!
    I can’t wait!

  • I liked the demo a lot, I will buy this game no doubt and really hope there is future for soul sacrifice 2-3-4 ….
The reviews are saying cerbero is “very difficult” and that “only a group can kill him,” but I do not agree. I even dare say that it is often easier to go “solo Cerberus’ than play against him in the group. Most often, the group always has a player demented, that puts Cérberu away from the golem or uses a spell that hits all allies, disrupts the group and does not do damage to compensate it all (I’m looking at you Rock Bug’s Shell Discarded and Soldier’s Fire Rock)
Anyway there are groups and “groups”, I found some fantastic players in the demo and I’m eager to play this wonderful game in online mode, which is certainly more fun.

  • I find falcon feather (warp/swift evade) + stone axe shard (stone hammer) to be an effective strategy against the cerberus. Just attack him a bunch and evade when he attacks with the feather. You have to be more careful when it runs out, and the feather is just to help; you can just go hammer rampaging without it too. The feather can also let you cross long distance in short times, so you can more effectively close and build distance from the cerberus. This might not work well depending on your playstyle, but for me, who prefers speed/atk based methods, it works wonders.

While the boulder rolling spells are annoying, if you can’t dodge his homing lightning that well, using either boulder early enough, when he starts preparing the move, can make you not take any of the damage, and even hit him while everyone else is running/dodging.

One thing that bothers me in groups: no one worries about the mobs, so the orcs often eat corpses and become a -big- problem. The orcs usually use their jump attack after you interrupt their meal, so counter-kill then. But as long as there’s nothing to eat, orcs aren’t a priority.

I swear, (big)orcs and harpies have Kirby in their mouths!

  • My way to defeat céberus solo / group:
    1) use golem to cause a lot of damage and hinder the movement of céberus.
    2) use a shield to hinder his movements even more.
    3) use Cemetery soil for additional damage.
    4) finish it fast with ritual, if necessary.

If you do this correctly the fight will not last even 2 min. he will not even have time to use his tricks (like the spear of lightning).

If you need more options complemented with:
1> Discarded Soldier’s Fire Rock> just to avoid lightning spear attack, as well as some other attacks that are dangerous, and to get away from hellhounds to have condition to heal the damage. The damage here is not as good as it seems, do not use to kill, just to have a strategic advantage …
2> any magic long distance according to your preference. The damage here is low, but can work well if u target the cursed parts
3> Flower Healing> best option to cure for u and for the group. use it here with Fire rock and you will have time to gather new strength and heal.

  • Looks like I’ll finally have to man up and start using golems.
    :I

  • I’m just wondering, if you get the game card, will the demo save to it?

  • 1 week to go…

  • were to go !

  • As far as I know, when a game is installed the save is within the install. That’s why it deletes your save when you delete a psn download game or the cartridge game’s install data.

I believe this means you just need to wait to delete the demo until after you install/transfer your save to the full game.

  • ★★★★★★★★ Will saves in demo from PSN in US transfer to Full game purchased in Hongkong? ★★★★★★★★

    Please reply me ~~ thanks!!!!!!!

  • @8180

The demo can only transfer its save to the full game of its region, or version.
So if the full game is not the US version, then it shouldn’t be able to transfer the save from a US demo.
If you imported a US copy or downloaded it from the US PSN it’d work, but the US PSN release still is filled with many mysteries.

  • Ahahah…..LAST!!!!
