Black Rock Shooter The Game Comes to PSP Tuesday

Greetings, doods! My name is Chris King; I recently joined the awesome team here at NISA. I’m here today to talk about Black Rock Shooter The Game, which hits PSP via PSN next Tuesday for $19.99. Shall we get started? Splendid!

Let me give you a quick rundown of the history of Black Rock Shooter. It all began as a simple illustration by renowned artist Ryohei “Huke” Fuke. The mysterious yet appealing design of the character inspired the creation of a Black Rock Shooter song (voiced by the ever popular Hatsune Miku), an original video animation, and even an eight-episode anime series. Starting off as a single character design, it has now evolved into an explosive Japanese RPG – not bad!

Alright, let’s talk story. The year is 2032 AD, and Earth has been ruthlessly assaulted by alien forces. Nineteen years of nonstop battle now threatens the very existence of humanity. The last hope for human survival is Black Rock Shooter (BRS), a heroine created solely to save planet Earth — she is the ultimate battle android. But when she is awakened to end the battle once and for all, there are only twelve human beings left on Earth, and a ton of bad guys to fry. As BRS, it’s time for you to lead the fight to save mankind!

As you explore ghostly city ruins, you’ll come across plenty of enemies that will stop at nothing to keep you from completing your objective. Battles will begin the moment you come into contact with an enemy. Aim and shoot down your enemies, or use precise reaction and prediction skills to block or sidestep enemy attacks. During these real-time battles, you will have to strategically position yourself to dodge and avoid the enemy. As you continue to defeat enemies and level up BRS, you will be able to equip her with a bevy of attacks and skills to make full use of her superhuman abilities and gigantic cyber-cannon! Be careful though – If you use your attacks and dodge moves too much during battle, you will reach “overheat” status, temporarily paralyzing BRS until she recovers. So you’ll have to be smart with your moves and manage your heat level throughout each fight.

Aside from the main story, there are plenty of sidequests and mini-games to keep you occupied as you progress through the game. You’ll love the sweet visuals and awesome cutscenes as you engage in lightning-fast battles against various types of enemies and bosses. Complete missions and reveal more of the dramatic story in Black Rock Shooter The Game — your choices and reflexes are the only thing standing between you and total annihilation!

Thanks for sticking around to hear about Black Rock Shooter The Game! We’ll be back soon with more Time and Eternity news for PS3! Until next time, doods!

  • @44 /46, I’m fully aware it’s an old game, which is why I said it should have been “REMADE” for the Vita. Call it BRSTG+ or BRSTG HD…whatever, but releasing it as a PSP game is just lazy at this point and two years too late.

  • Yes, finally. And will it work on the VITA?

  • @51

NISA isn’t a development company… all they do is localize. They don’t have the ability to change what system a game is for.

And what would be the point? All it would do is alienate the PSP audience if they can’t play it, while PSP and Vita owners can play it as it is. All making it Vita would do really is add trophies.

  • Since you’re releasing PSP games, are we maybe getting FF Type-0?

  • OMG who is making the music score? I love it!

  • I live in Canada. And I only wanted this game for the figma, which you aren’t giving us anyway. So meh. Step it up NISA, you can do better.

  • Sweet!
I’m hoping it will work for the vita right? (:

  • “BURAKKU ROKKU SHUUTAA…. doko e itta no?”

  • Japan still making new title for PSP.
    Weird.

@53 Good point, but the devs did do something too, right?

@NISA. Localize anime dating sims too please. <3

  • CONFIRMED BY PS LIFESTYLE TO BE VITA COMPATIBLE!

    PlayStation Portable Games

Black Rock Shooter The Game (Vita compatible) – $19.99

    Can’t Wait to plaaaayyy!!

  • I would love to buy this, if I was in my region, but it’s not =(

@Kchow23 – There are over 76 million PSP’s and only 3 million PS vita’s out there.

If they stop producing games for what was and still is their best selling system, then that is just bad business on Sony’s end.

  • It would be nice to have games like this for the vita. Guess we will have to wait till vita 2 is out

  • @59

Japan probably thinks its weird that new 360 games are still being made, since Xbox is as dead over there as PSP is here.

Its just different cultures. PSP is still a very popular and viable system over there, and its not rare to see its games top the sales charts like Sword Art Online did a few weeks ago. As long as PSP stays popular over there, they’ll continue to make games for it.

  • Seems like a lot of people on this post fail to realize that this was a PSP game that released a good year and four months before the Vita was even released in Japan. The fact that the U.S. is even getting the localization is fantastic news. For NISA to put in the extra time and money to make this a Vita port would be ridiculous given the state of the Vita right now. Plus, this is probably more of a niche game in the West so I doubt it would do big numbers even if it was ported to Vita.

  • Hi Chris,

First of all, thank you for bringing the the US. It looks great and reminds me of Capcom’s EX Troopers in a way (which is probably not going to be released here).

I was wondering if there is any chance you would localize Vanillaware’s Grand Knights History on PSP.

  • Yes!!!!!!!! Ive been waiting for this game to be localized for so long! Nisa America I love you guys

    Just take my money already

  • So, this is a day one buy for my Vita…
Keep up the localization of unlikely games! My gaming library loves you NISA

  • Is this going to have a UK release…ive watched and enjoyed black rock shooters anime series and wanted to play the game but having it imported is quite costly…any chance of it coming to the UK?

  • This is a really big concern of mine, but will all of the BRS items released on playstation home Japan be coming here? You guys would make a lot of money, and I have been really wanting BRS and WRS’s outfits on home for years now.

  • Im glad I held off importing this. BRS is awesome, now I get to play on my vita.

Also +1 for VC3 recommendation, great game series and I would like the game to go with my world art books.

  • I’m already buying this game no matter what (Been waiting long enough already lol) But just a quick question, does anyone know how big the game is? I don’t have much space left on my memory card and im just wondering if imma have to end up having to buy a new one. Because i will for this game.

  • Never mind lol i found it x3 it’s 1.1 gigs. Looks like im buying a new memory card!

  • This looks interesting and worth the $19.99. Any chance that NISAmerica could pick up the One Piece: Romance Dawn RPG. I was really sad I couldn’t pick it up for the Vita since it is a PSP release, and not available digitally. It would be awesome to have an honest to goodness One Piece RPG.

  • +1 sale by me. Can’t wait to play it on Vita.

  • Trophies by any chance?

I wish there was a SAO for the Vita ;c

  • Day 1 Buy

  • Hey Chris, will this version have an English dub or subtitled Japanese voice-overs?
    (hopes he’s still answering questions)

  • Ignore my last question… I found you answered this question on the first page and somehow missed it right before my previous post.

Also sorry for the double post…

  • Yea so the UK release is the 24th right?
And all the same rules apply, Im just getting antsy because it aint on the “To be released” section

  • yo quisiera saber desde que horas estara en la PSN?

  • I want to know from that time will be on the PSN

  • Would have been amazing if this would have got physical release but i guess this is fine

  • I would also love to know what time the game will be put on the store for sale. I’ve been waiting for this game since it was released in Japan, and I’m ready to say “Shut up and take my money!”

  • is this going to be a disk or a a download on PSN

“is this going to be a disk or a a download on PSN”

This game is being released only on the PSN. It won’t have a hard copy outside of Japan.

  • It’s great to have more games that will play on VITA!

What kind of game is this? What are the RPG elements (is it like Borderlands?).

What do you spend your time doing? Are you just shooting at stuff?

    \Thanks

  • How About Download it ?
    Any Information?

  • It’s sad that this isn’t coming to canada… It was the only PSP game I was willing to buy for my PS Vita .

  • um will it ever be released in canada or see a canada release??

  • EXQUISITEEMPRESS

Wow. Looks really fun. Nice to know it works on both PSP & PS Vita. I guess that’s why they released it on the PSN Store.
