The Drop: Week of April 29th 2013 New Releases

The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on PSN.

Developed by Frima Studio, the sequel to the 2009 PSN hit Zombie Tycoon, Brainhov’s Revenge steps up the hilarious, irreverent RTS gameplay of the original with an array of new zombies, sharper graphics and multiplayer Cross Play on PS3 and PS Vita. Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon lets players get the girl, kill the bad guys and save the world in a VHS-era vision of the future.

As Sergeant Rex Colt, you are part man, part machine, all American. You are a state-of-the art Mark IV cyber-commando on a mission…of vengeance. You’re out to bring down your old commanding officer and his battalion of ruthless killer cyborgs and you’ll stop at nothing to get the job done. Hollywood action icon Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss), returns in this explosive 1980s style sci-fi vision of a dark future. Turn off your VCR, plug in your video game cabinet, and get ready to experience all of the thrills of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon.

Soul Sacrifice

(PS Vita and PS Vita Game Card) — Prepare yourself for a brutal combat experience where every decision made will have consequential results. Soul Sacrifice is a co-op action game full of brutal combat and consequential gameplay choices. Take on the role of a slave who stumbles upon a forbidden book that allows its readers to relive epic battles between sorcerers and monsters of the past. In order to use the magic during fierce battles, the player must be willing to make a sacrifice in exchange — ranging from personal belongings, a limb, or even a life. What price will you pay for power?

Zombie Tycoon II: Brainhov’s Revenge

(PS3/PS Vita – Cross Buy) — Pick your side in the epic war between two evil masterminds: apprentice-gone-rogue Orville Tycoon and his army of heavy-duty zombies, or his vengeance-thirsty mentor Professor Brainhov and his frantic masses of agile undead! Post Z-day, Tycoon’s mad machination to extinguish all life in Finkleville has almost reached its apogee. During the final siege on the human fortress, his former mentor makes a sudden comeback, seeking retribution for his apprentice’s betrayal and eager to reclaim his rightful place as alpha mad scientist. Only one question remains: who shall win? Slow zombies, or fast zombies? Find out as undead armies clash in both the immersive single player campaign and the competitive multiplayer mode!

The multiplayer mode pits Brainhov and his fast, ravenous zombies against Tycoon and his army of shambling, slow zombies in a one versus one deathmatch. Pick a side and unleash your zombie hordes to destroy the mobile base commanded by your rival scientist. To achieve that, you will be given control of two packs of zombies and a powerful monster unit to gain control over various buildings, level up and ultimately face off in an epic battle!

DP_Logo_and_Blood_DirectorsCutblack-630x369Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut — Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut focuses on the story of FBI special agent Francis York Morgan as he investigates the murder of a young woman in the town of Greenvale. In this small town, players have to solve a murder mystery and survive against the killer and supernatural creatures that have taken residence.

Along with the original story and gameplay, there are some new features, including improved HD graphics, an updated control system, a brand new scenario from the game’s director, Hidetaka Swery Suehiro, and DLC to keep the mystery going once you complete the main campaign.

Telltale Games’: Poker Night 2 — In Telltale Games’ Poker Night 2, players will be joined by an all-star cast: Claptrap from Borderlands, Brock Samson from Venture Bros., Sam from the Sam & Max, Ash Williams from Army of Darkness, and more.

Katamari Damacy — Ever wonder what it would be like to roll around and collect everything you touched in one massive heap? Well that’s exactly the premise of Namco’s strange action game Katamari Damacy. In it, players assume the role of the Prince of the Cosmos as he undertakes a quest to right the wrongs of his father who accidentally knocked the stars out of the sky. The only way to fix it is to roll around the world and collect as many items as possible in one gigantic clump. Both a single player story mode and two-player battle feature are included for the romp, and gamers will be able to accumulate hundreds of different items of various shapes and sizes.

  • Sony dont care thd Vita and Vita owners.

  • I was just talking about this on the blog. PS2 classic?? Has anyone every herd of this game. With all the ones we ask for and this is what we get. Sony, you really need to get in touch with your customers again so you can meet there needs in gaming. And you wonder why more people are leaving you? A lot of bad decisions you are making here lately.

  • Do you guys just sit here F5ing all day, waiting for them to make a mistake

  • @Rey Gutierrez

Capcom Vs SNK 2 was annouced for the end of april. Is there any chance to see it part of the next update ?

    thanks

  • Thank you for updating the Sony Entertainment Network to allow auto download to PS3. I noticed one glitch/annoyance. If while the PS3 is already on and I purchase a game from the web store, it will not auto download until I turn it off and on again. It seems it only triggers an auto download only when the PS3 is turned off. Please change that to always check and trigger auto download. Yes, I am lazy. I like buying games from the web store instead of the built in store.

Also, please create two step verification for the online store. I want to feel secure.

Finally, please allow users with PayPal to auto pull funds to cover balances. If I do not have enough funds, I have to first add the funds and then make the purchase. Instead, I would like to be able to do the purchase and have the system pull the amount needed from PayPal.

Oh one more thing, Capcom has informed us that you have already approved the PS2 game Capcom Fighting Evolution (or Capcom Fighting Jam). Please release it asap. Thanks.

I love you guys so much that I am planning on buying a PS Vita after the E3. Please do a refresh/update and a price drop for me.

  • Why did you focus on “Far Cry 3” new IP labeled as FC3 for lame marketing instead of Soul Sacrifice? And from comments, forgetting it all together originally is evidence of the Drops total lack of quality these days. Guess you could say it has dropped.

@20; Katamari Damacy is a classic. You are simply ignorant of its awesome. Your grandma may not know about it, but gamers do. And if they don’t then they should.

  • LOL @#20. Katamari was one of the most popular titles near the end of the PS2’s life cycle. It spawned numerous sequels including two in the current gen. Get a clue.

As to the Drop, glad to see Katamari. I hope this is a harbinger of more Namco titles to come. Maybe Klonoa 2 or some Tales games *hint hint*

  • What would you sacrifice for the Japanese voice over portion of this pre-order bonus through a digital purchase of the game that will change all pre-order bonuses from 2013 & BEYOND!?
Ponder on that for a moment players….

  • @20 Yes it is a PS2 classic so,you are wrong.

  • Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is a day 1 buy.I love the 80’s cheesy over the top action.

  • were face to faaaace…loyalty is what i need to see from you. your insecure, i can see the fear that breathes in your heeeaaart! Where will you run, where will you hide, I see the blood, drip from your eye, who will survive, lets get it on, and we’ll FIIIIIIGHT!!! I know who you are, the leader of lost souls, you cant kill me, i’m immortal! I’m not afraid to die, my soul will travel on. You can’t kill me, I’M IMMOOOOOOOORTAAAAAAL!!!

    Translation
Theres no need for a farcry 3 blood dragon demo, im just gonna buy the full game right away.

  • Deadly Premonition is a crazy campy game and I am thinking of getting it as well.

  • Nice drop this week. I really like the addition of Katamari to the PS2 Classics. I rented it once but never did get the chance to pick it up. Deadly Premonition seems kind of intriguing too. I’m hoping that something good is added to the Spring Fever sale as well. In all, it should be a pretty good week! Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Elvick at #25. Just to let you know my grandma has been dead for years and I have been a gamer for most likely the length or over of you life time. I was just trying to say out of all that has been requested I have never herd anyone request this one over many many others.
    Thank you and Happy Gaming.

  • I am so excited for Blood Dragon. Have had my PSN funded for it for awhile now.

  • If Katamari is coming as a PS2 download this week, is it possible to put the game’s sequel We Love Katamari on the psn at some point in the future.

  • But I do remember it now that you reminded me .

  • Thank you for updating the store early last Tues and especially right as you posted the article. Please keep that same pattern. I should not have to wait 2hrs after the article is posted for the store to be updated. Keep trying to update the store as early as possible.

Please bring these games to the PSN asap.

(PS Vita (?) and PS Vita Game Card)

    So… digital? Pre-order?

  • I agree Katamari is a classic, wasn’t my cup of tea though. If the price is right, I may give it another try.

Is there a plan to bring SSX Tricky?? Would LOVE to play this again. It was the first game that I was OK at, and I put maybe a hundred hours in it.

  • Nothing for me really

  • This is a good week. planning on blood dragon, free zombie tycoon, and maybe soul sacrifice

  • Too bad that Blood Dragon is a FPS. Blood Dragon is full of everything kickassery, but FPS suck. Also, I hear that Blood Dragon is really short. So, I think $15 is a bit high. With a PS+ sale I might bite tho.

Also, I would feel extremely dirty with supporting Ubisoft. I mean, after all, Ubisoft killed off one of my favorite series of all time, Splinter Cell, after Chaos Theory. Also, I can’t stand their milking of the AssCreed series and that series is extremely overrated, so I kinda want Ubisoft to die off in a painful death. Oh and the whole Rayman fiasco. Ubisoft is a very terrible company.

  • What do you mean by this: “Oh and the whole Rayman fiasco. Ubisoft is a very terrible company.”

  • SOUL SACRIFICE!!! :D Ill sacrifice it ALL for power!

Also excited for Zombs Tycoon. :)

  • @ Philly – Rayman Legends was supposed to be a Wii U exclusive and was originally supposed to come out a few months ago. However, because Ubisoft is a very greedy shady company they decided to make it multiplat and because of Microsoft’s policy on “NO TIMED EXCLUSIVES” (despite PS3 owners being bullied and picked on with timed exclusives this entire gen), Ubisoft had no choice but to delay the Wii U version or else they would not be allowed to release it for the Xbox 360.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not like Rayman, but I do not like shady business practices even more so.
Also, video gaming has gone downhill this gen with all the shady business practices and changing games for casuals, appealing to the lowest common denominator and why I much prefer classic gaming.

  • Deadly Premonition!!! :D

  • Katamaarrrriii <3

  • It’s sunday evening and no word yet about the availability (or not) of the pre-order bonuses of Soul Sacrifice’s digital version. A simple Yes / No / We won’t tell you would suffice, there’s beens dozens of users asking it and all they got was an amazingly vague answer (“We’ll have more info on this early next week.” — really?).

It’s hard to believe how over and over and over unprofessional you guys at SCEA are.

  • @nueropunk ps3 being bullied? Don’t blame Microsoft for wanting to spend a little extra cash to keep their customers happy. Sony could take a page from Microsoft’s customer satisfaction. Been a customer for both my whole gaming life and Sony has screwed me so many times, it’s not a surprise.

  • Still no Crash or Spyro on Vita, I see.

  • Does anyone happen to know what the price of Deadly Premonition is going to be? I’m not sure if it was mentioned in another post before or anything. I know I can wait until Tuesday to find out, but if I’m going to buy it I’d like to have my ps3 wallet ready :)
