Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault for PS3

Hey everyone! We’re excited to share a lot of news with you about Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault. Whether you are looking for a new multiplayer map, waiting for your PS Vita download, or excited about Deadlocked HD, there’s something in this update for you, so read on!

First, thank you for your patience as you’ve awaited the PS Vita version of Full Frontal Assault. Our friends at Sony and Tin Giant have been working hard to deliver a version of the game that lives up to your expectations. The good news is that the game is complete, and will be released on the PSN Store on May 21st.

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault

Furthermore, we know many of you are excited about Deadlocked HD, which we are including as a bonus thank you for your patience on the PS Vita release. The fine folks at Sony and Idol Minds are wrapping it up, we are expecting it to be available soon.

For those of you with the retail copy of FFA, you’ll be able to download Deadlocked HD as well as the Vita version of FFA to your PS3 and transfer to your PS Vita. You can do this by accessing the “Disc Benefits” option on May 21st. If you downloaded FFA, the PS Vita version and Deadlocked will appear free for you on the PlayStation storefront.

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault

Lots of you are still enjoying Full Frontal Assault’s competitive multiplayer and have been enjoying the Metropolis map we added at the beginning of this year. We wanted to continue to support the game for the loyal PS3 players as well. As such, the team in North Carolina has a new software update for the game which brings a brand-new competitive map set in Molonoth Fields from A Crack In Time, and a new game mode exclusively to the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

Here’s a first look at the new map:

The new game mode, 2v2 Full Frontal Assault mode, is something for our hardcore players. It eliminates the phases – so you can always capture nodes, build units, and attack the other team’s base. This results in a more dynamic, more strategic experience that will test players’ skills more than ever before. This new software update is available now.

Additionally, we’ve added new skins to Full Frontal Assault which you can find in the in-game store. The new Monsters pack, Intergalactic Foot Soldiers pack, and Plushy pack all are available now, for $1.99 each. We also have a new A Crack in Time pack and All 4 One pack coming soon!

That’s all for now! As always, thanks for all your support, and if you have questions we’ll try to answer below.

  • First. but awesome news

  • Yay finally! I have held on my copy because I want to play on my Vita! Any idea on the side of the Vita version? Also, thank you guys!

  • Phew, was worried that we’d never hear about FFA / Q-force on Vita or Deadlocked / Gladiator HD after you guys said you weren’t in contact with Sony or Tin Giant.
Thanks for the update, been sick of seeing the game without a download link in the Vita store!
Although I was kinda disappointing with FFA / Q-force (I was told it would be the “return of the Q-force” but all that entailed was Ratchet, Clank and Qwark without Skid, Helga, Sasha or Al :'( ), I’ll be happy to play it more on Vita.
Also: please tell me that the HUD in Deadlocked / Gladiator HD will be adjusted for widescreen, kinda bugged me that it wasn’t in the R&C HD Collection. Thanks!

  • Vita Version …. still waiting….

  • Oh cool I finally get to play this now. W3RM skin please

  • Why is that mode exclusive to PS3? :/

@5: Did you even read the damn article?

  • You guys should add the skin of Ratchet from Deadlocked and the Classic Jak skin from Deadlocked into FFA.

I can’t wait for Deadlocked. There is no game I played more on the PS2! Will it have online story co-op?

  • I seriously thought I’d never see this day!! Vita!!!

The multiplayer in the game is one of the best out there! I hope more people will play now, shame theres not many people playing.

I also hope your trophies transfer over to Vita, like Sound Shapes

  • awesome finally thanks you guys been waiting for this one :)

  • @ #5-Here is a paragraph from this post that you apparently skipped through to make your comment

So it looks like May 21st?

  • Finally!
Will it have two different trophy lists?

  • Picked up the game day one….. Only to find the package had false advertising (I heard stickers were supposed to make it on the box, but didn’t)

Talk about a day late and a dollar short.

  • EvyatarAtarEvyat

Will the Vita version be available at retail or only on psn?

  • Just got this on the PSABR sale awaiting the Vita version.. as well as deadlocked. :)

    Fun stuff.

  • Can I still buy FFA and get Deadlocked for free now? I’ve been waiting for FFA on the Vita since that’s where I really wanted to play it.

  • They took so long that i lost interest in this game……this should be a free ps plus game in my opinion

  • woohoo finally… bought this game forever ago but wanted to play it on the go.. so I been putting it on hold for the vita version.. with this long of a wait they should have gave us another platinum trophy though for it :) but I’m glad to see we are getting to enjoy it finally..

  • and ratchet gladiator can be downloaded on may 21th right?

  • As a huge fan of Ratchet and Clank and Insomniac Games, I’m really bothered by how long this port took. On top of that, informing the customers of the delays was also handled poorly. I support Cross-Buy ans Cross-Save and Cross-Play and Cross-Goods, but you need to step it up if you’re going to put the Cross-Buy logo on the box.

That being said, I’m glad it’s finally coming out, and Deadlocked is a nice bonus.

Side note: Sucks what they’re doing to Spyro nowadays huh? I’m glad they’re making money I guess but I miss tue glory days of 3D platformers.

  • Should call the Vita version, R&C: FUVitaOwners. lol. Vita owners sit and wait and PS3 owners get exclusives and free games.

    Essentially PS3 owners get,
    1. PS3 game
    2. Free game (even if they don’t have a Vita)
    3. PS Vita Version
    4. Exclusive feature.

If they were going to give out a free game it should have been for the Vita, since that’s what people were waiting for. I’m sure this comment will label me as entitled or something, but whatever. I just think things should have been thought out a bit if they were going to offer something for waiting on the Vita version.

Thanks for the update though. Even after waiting since it was first announced to launch in November, I think I’ll pass, because of those things listed above for PS3 owners paying $20, Vita only owners will be paying $20 for the below, after waiting with really no updates and no gameplay footage on a Vita,

    1. PS Vita version.

    //rant

Hope all of you that purchase this enjoy it.

Peace and Good Gaming to All of You.

  • finally! Deadlocked is not available on Vita though?

  • can you guys add some survival mode in offline xD cant wait to download in my vita this coming may 21

So… Is Deadlocked available next week as well or not? These two paragraphs contradict each other. First you say it’s still being wrapped up, and then you say that it’s going to be available for download next week. What’s going on here? Is Deadlocked ready or not? Are we getting an unfinished game next week? Are we not getting Deadlocked at all? Please clarify.

  • I’ve been holding off on picking this up until the vita version was ready so I’ll finally be making my purchase on may 21st, better late then never

  • TainoGunslinger

    @25, same here.

So is Deadlocked also coming out for Vita?

  • In case they don’t respond, I asked about size in the post when they delayed the Vita version. I don’t remember exactly the size, but it was:

    Either 1.9gb or 2.1gb.

  • FINALLY, I’ve been waiting for this news for so long.

  • TainoGunslinger

Crap! 2Gb!? Sony needs to hurry up w\ a damn 64Gb memory card!

  • I don’t even have a PS3, but it sounds like I should buy the PS3 version to get the vita version and Deadlocked HD?

If the vita version alone is $20, I may as well get all of them for $20.

    Is that right?

  • TainoGunslinger

Exactly Carl! I just called my local Gamestop, they’re holding a copy for me. Can’t beat that 3 for 1 deal!

  • Yay! North Carolina representing! :)

I enjoyed the game but kinda stopped playing till the vita version came out so i could try it on there and see if the have seperate or shared trophy lists. I’m excited for the new map as well. Hope Deadlocked comes very soon.

  • @20: Nothing was Insomniac’s fault here. Sony decided to create a Vita port and hired Tin Giant to do it and then all the fall out was on their hands. Insomniac had nothing to do with the port. If it were just them, there’d be no Vita version at all.

@21: That is beyond stupid. You can’t buy the Vita version of FFA yet without buying it on PS3. Therefore… Vita only owners miss out on nothing, because they haven’t been able to buy the game at all. They aren’t missing out on content that they already paid for like anyone that bought it on PS3. They’ve just had to wait to be able to buy and play the game.

It’s not like they paid for it yet. Unlike PS3 owners who did buy the game with the Vita version supposed to come out soon after.

  • Awesome news thanks ;-)

  • I definitely love that the game is arriving next week for Vita. I had a funny story with this actually and hope others did something similar:

Originally I bought the game on PS3 (Along with CS:GO) only because I wanted to get the Vita version free and I believed it was coming soon, along with JGR. So I only played the first 2 planets just to get a feel for the game and then quit afterwards so I can save the rest of the game for the Vita. After hearing the delays for the Vita version, all my time just went back to CS:GO and EDF2017P, but I wanted to play this game so bad but couldn’t since I was saving that experience for Vita. Now with it coming out I can finally play the game on Vita and be able to experience the game fully, which is greatly appreciated, and I also like the extra free version of Deadlocked since I played that one alot on the PS2 (But R&C3 is the best still for me).

I BETTER see this game on the store the coming tuesday, as I do not want another JGR Delay.

    Good luck. ^_^

  • @33 And PS3 owners have been playing the game and enjoying it. The same game I’ve been waiting for, since it was announced to launch on Vita in November and then got pushed back to early 2013 and then Spring 2013. But it’s the people that have been playing the game that get the apology.

Your beyond stupid comment is narrow minded. They could have made it a game playable on the Vita (maybe a PSP game) and then those PS3 users waiting along with the Vita users that have been waiting 6 months could both enjoy the free game on their VITA. Could have even done a title that’s playable on both PS3 and Vita so no one waiting is left out.

Maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal if they offered a non cross buy version at a lower cost to those that are only getting it for our Vita.

So tell me how exactly my thinking they should have made the free game for those waiting for the PS VITA version of the game a game that could have been played both on PS3 and PS VITA is stupid. Sorry if I think I shouldn’t have to pay the same price to those getting all these extras, when I’ve also been waiting.

    Good day to you sir.

  • Looks like a great game but i’ll pass, digital release is a big no for me.

  • You guys know how to treat your loyal fans so thanks
having my vita version new maps and skins are awesome and the bonus of deadlock will be extremely gratifying so once again thank you very much :-)

  • darkhairwarrior

Man, I am STOKED for this! Finally going to be able to play this whenever I want! The new map looks GORGEOUS with lots of exciting visuals and grind rails in it! 2V2 FFA mode sounds interesting, but I would much rather have a Survival Mode of some sort. Like, if you had your normal 2 lanes, and enemies kept coming, stronger and stronger each round, and you slowly collect bolts and weapons to either upgrade yourself, or your base! It’d also have to have local/ online co-op!

  • @21 THANK YOU that’s what I said to insomniac in the comments last time. it makes no sense, PS3 players get ALL the benefit when PSV owners don’t get nothing for the delay.

@33 Tell me how your logic makes sense? The PS Vita owners waited half a damn year for something they were suppose to get NOV. As well as not getting a physical version. PS3 owners Bought the game and GOT the game they bought and were able to play for 6 MONTHS while PS Vita owners couldn’t. PSVita owners didn’t pay for it yet? WTF that’s not a reason to give the PS3 Version reasons. I ended up buying the PS3 Version waiting for the PSVita version and never played it. Why? cause I wanted the Vita game. Ohh I get Deadlock free tho!! WTF I wanted a Vita game, you think giving me a PS3 game makes up for 6 months behind on Vita? NO!! Not all PS Vita owners have or care for ps3

  • and the Vita version BETTER NOT look like crap. Or I’m a be pissed, you could have made a exclusive Vita Ratchet game with that amount of time. And if size matters looked that good on PSP this has to look great

  • So is Deadlocked releasing on May 21st, or at a later date? The wording is ambiguous.

  • Aha! I knew buying it on the recent PSASBRABCDEFG sale wasn’t going to leave me hanging!

  • Finally! I soon get to have all the canon games, and can finally do a liveplay without causing a hiatus! Thanks, Sony!

  • OMG I can’t believe thats awesome news…I mean I wasn’t eager for FFA on Vita….but as a Ratchet fan I bought the PS3 version but I didn’t even did the unboxing yet since I have too much games in my backlog….I thought that in the PS3 version there would be only the Vita version of FFA but Deadlocked HD for free as well?…..couldn’t be better news…I played Deadlocked like a crazy…and I’m really excited to play in HD and get the plat…there’s a plat right?…anyway thanks for the update.

  • It’s about time…

I was planning on sending a “where the hell is it” e-mail this weekend.

I appreciate the gesture of the added game for the wait, but it still doesn’t make up for incompetence. I really hope Sony has learned a lesson from this, because the court of public opinion isn’t as forgiving as those of us who already prefer Sony platforms. I’m looking forward to downloading to Vita, but still think the delay was ridiculous.

  • @36: Instead of waiting you should have got it for PS3. But the point is that you didn’t buy anything yet, thus you aren’t entitled to any kind of apology. It was people who already bought the game with the big “cross buy” promotion logo on it that was a giant lie lie for half a year who deserve the apology, not you who has not bought anything. All that happened to you was that a game got delayed, which happens all the time in the industry.

@40: You bought a PS3 game, not a Vita game. You aren’t entitled to a Vita game as compensation. Not all PS3 owners have or care for Vita either so why would they give people who bought a PS3 game a free title for another system they may not even own? Also, you’re completely delusional if you think they could have made a brand new game in 6 months.

Seriously, what a bunch of entitled Vita brats, whining about having to wait for a port when it’s those of us who actually bought the game who got screwed out of something we were promised for 6 months.

Also, good job clarifying whether or not Deadlocked comes out next week or not. Just more evidence than Insomniac no longer cares about the consumer (like we needed more proof after they got in bed with EA).

  • @47 Do you have a split personality?

In the same post you say I’m not entitled to it because I didn’t buy the PS3 version of the game. Then you turn around and tell someone that bought PS3 version they aren’t entitled to a Vita game instead of a PS3 game when they are waiting for a Vita game to play on their (wait for it) Vita.

I don’t feel entitled, but like you said:

And I quote from your message. “Not all PS3 owners have or care for Vita either so why would they give people who bought a PS3 game a free title for another system they may not even own?”

So these PS3 owners that don’t own and care about the Vita, that obviously got what they wanted for their $20 also get another game as an apology for not having to wait? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

I would have been fine if they would have just said, “It’s going to be late.” and left it at that.

  • So my point isn’t one about entitlement as you say. It’s one about Sony or whoever did this, not thinking things through. As I said, they could have done a title that would be playable by both PS3 and PS Vita players or just not offered anything. Something that would make both sides feel equal, since we are all paying the $20 price tag.

As I said, I won’t be paying for this particular game at $20 for my Vita when I know others (including PS3 only owners who don’t care about or own a Vita) are getting bonuses at the same price. Such a shame.

mjc0961 thinking to himself, “Oh man I got screwed. $20 for PS3 and PS Vita version of game and a free game and exclusive mode. Man those Vita only owners are sure lucky having to pay the same amount for PS Vita version only. Man, I wish I would have waited for that deal-e-o.” :$

And why haven’t we seen any footage from it being played on the Vita?

  • Can’t wait for Deadlocked HD. I knew being a R&C fan would pay off.
