Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F on PS3

Today, SEGA is proud to announce that Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F is headed West! The game will arrive this August on both PlayStation 3 and Playstation Network in North America!

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F is a rhythm game featuring 38 unique songs, including popular tracks like Tell Your World and Black★Rock Shooter. Players can create and share their own Miku videos in “Edit Mode”, and can customize the popular diva with over 90 different costumes and 100 accessories. Being the first console game released for the franchise in the West, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F will include all of the updated graphics, additional songs, and features of the Japanese version.

Hatsune Miku is the world’s most popular digital singer, produced by Crypton Future Media, INC. Her popularity continues to increase in the West and she has over 950,000 dedicated English speaking fans on Facebook. In 2011, she packed the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles for her first ever Western concert, and tickets sold out almost instantly. To gauge interest for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F in the west, SEGA asked fans to like and share an image of Miku to pledge their support, and the response was astounding. In less than three days, the post received over 25,000 likes and 15,000 shares.

In short, it was your voices, as fans, that helped make this happen.

We’re thrilled to bring this title out for you, and we’re counting on your support. Tell Your World!

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F is slated for release on PlayStation 3 and via digital download on PlayStation Network in August 2013. If you’re excited to get your hands the game, you won’t have to wait too long – the demo will be available this Tuesday, June 11th!

If you’re excited about today’s news and if you have questions, please drop a comment below and I will respond to as many as I can! Thanks everyone!

Thia isn’t a dancing game dude. This is a rhythm game.

  • This*

  • All though this game and the character are not my cup of tea, I hope this allows companies in the East to know that their products are wanted in the West. It would be nice to see localization of more games.

  • i really wasn’t expecting this! great news for those who haven’t played it. the bad thing for me is that i already imported and finished de ps3 and vita versions long time ago >.<

  • I’m soooo excited for this game! I almost imported a copy. I wonder if there will be any pre-order bonuses or even a collector’s edition…

  • EVen though I already own the Japanese version of both the Vita and PS3 versions, I can’t express how exciting this news is to me! >_<

  • Now, you know what you must do, Sega. Announce a Valkyria Chronicles HD Collection for PS3, with the second two PSP games translated. I want to play more VC, dangit, and if you refuse to produce a real follow-up to the PS3 title, well then, up-res your PSP games and put ’em on Blu-Ray! That’s what that PSP Remaster tech is for, right? If the God of War Saga Collection is a thing, and Metal Gear Peace Walker can come to PS3, I see no reason why other games like Valkyria Chronicles 3 can’t. Go grab that fan translation if you must and finish it up/make it official (didn’t you do that with Monster World IV?). DO IT. You know you want to….

  • The fact that this isn’t coming on the vita is a big ‘WTF?’ It’s not like they have to do much other than translate the text, which they’re already doing for the ps3.
W/E….we’re still getting Rayman Legends and Dragon’s Crown…rhythm games would be nice..but there’s a psp for that.

  • Are there going to be any differences w/the US version and JPN version?? It’s also great that others can now enjoy this game as I have. I’ve had to import both the PS3 one and the Vita one. Let’s also hope the Vita one comes over here as well. Unrelated topic but they need to bring PSO2 over here for the Vita. Fingers crossed…

  • LPHybridSoldier

Awesome! I’ll definitely be picking one up! It’s fantastic to see Miku being more involved with the west. Hopefully more Diva games will follow! Thanks for giving us this opportunity.

  • Any word on a limited edition?

  • I have no money left over from buying both versions of PDF,if I did I would buy them a second time, thats how much I love the vocaloids.SEGA,to make my life more better than it already is,please release all of the Project Diva games in the west, and Dreamy Theater, the vita is backward compatible so I could play Project Diva Extend on the vita.

  • Already have the import but I’m buying anyway. YAKUZA 5 NEXT SEGA!

  • Now I feel a bit silly having bought the Vita and PS3 version imported from Japan less than a month ago.

Though, from what I read … it looks like this will include all the DLC from Japan as well? Or will that come later?

    • There were six “DLC” songs in the Japanese VITA version that are included on the disc for the PS3 edition. (This applies to both the Japanese and US retail releases.) There are also a number of additional improvements in the PS3 version.

  • I would have considered this title if it would’ve been the VITA version. It’s just, these type of games are WAY more enjoyable on a handheld.

And it just seems wrong that the game that came out first and created all the hype is the one that does not get localized. I guess I understand the reason why, since the VITA does not even come close to the install base of the PS3, but if publishers continue to think like that, well, nothing is going to change about the current situation of the VITA.

Nevertheless, I hope people enjoy this game. I certainly would’ve on a handheld.

  • I’m not gonna lie.. I’m gonna buy this game.. but I’m dissapointed to not seeing the PSVita’s f version… because I know that both games have different songs and different modes and gameplay in some of them…

I REAAAALLY WANT Miku on the Go on my PSVita! So i’ll count on You SEGA… I hope it doesn’t bacome another Valkyrie Chronicles 3… I will support every great game You make so take u on account! the Vita gamers play games! And We play a lot!

  • Amazing new, will totally pick this up when it comes out.

  • EyesBleedNoSleep

Man, the whole Hatsune Miku / Vocaloid franchise has been around for years & this is the first time the game is “officially” escaping from Japan for the whole world to enjoy. This is history in the making. For me to not pick this up would be a crime unto itself. Plus I love the music. Day one buy for me! ^_^

  • So sad that Sega would rather bring this over than Valkyria Chronicles 3. I would rather hear a recording of a real person singing than this computerized vocaloid crap.

  • I spent well over $170 just to import the Japanese Vita and PS3 editions…. BUT I’m willing to spend more for the North American version just for the DLC’s! :D

  • Nice to see the game coming to west. Won’t support it because I already have the Vita and PS3 japanese version, no need for another copy of the same game.

Want to see Yakuza 5 and HD Collection more.. :)

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m sooooooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH SEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mr Aaron Weber, I have a question for you…. this game has Supercell (Ryo maybe) songs?????

  • oops sorry for breaking the page.. hehe

  • I’d be more way more inclined to purchase a Vita version of this game, physical or downloaded copy, it doesn’t matter.

I have to much of a backlog with my PS3. If it comes to Vita, count me in ;)

  • My little brother is a huge fan of the series, and as every good big bro should… I have basically supported him financially throughout ALL Project Diva games ever since the first PSP release. Even if it means importing the games at a higher price without the ability to understand them. Even if it means buying him the LE Japan only Miku PSVita. Even if it means buying a Japan PSN Store credit, to buy JPN only DLCs.

However, I must say that it brings me joy as a gamer to see him do a victory lap around the house whenever he manages to do a ‘Perfect’ on a song from ‘Expert’ difficulty.

My question is, if we already own all Project Diva-related DLCs as of now available in the JPN PSN, from costume to songs. Do I have to purchase them again to unlock them in this NA version?
What about his save datas from the JPN version of the game? Does he have to do a “Perfect” on an almost impossible song all over again? Could you guys do a form of conversion?
What about english speaking countries NOT from NA/EU. For example, asian countries from South East Asia?
Any plans on releasing future NA DLCs there?

  • ohmigosh!

Another rhythm game, AND it’s something I’ve seen way so much fanart for, AND it’s on PS3 (rather than the Vita, which I’ve held out on).

    Bring it, bringit, BRINGIT!

  • can’t wait to buy

  • Really happy to see it finally coming over,
but please bring the Vita version!

  • It honestly blows my mind that despite the fact that the majority of people that posted in Facebook were screaming for the Vita version, that that isn’t the one actually being localized. Yes, I realize that the Vita has a lower overall installbase, but a much larger number would have been on board to support it than a PS3 one imo. The claim that you “are listening” is quite ridiculously because if you were from the start then this wouldn’t be happening right now.

And now I’m placing bets on them blaming sales of the PS3 version for not getting the Vita one when asked later on even though many folks do not want to buy it on PS3 and only on Vita.

  • I’m glad that it’s coming out in Europe, even if it’s the PS3 version for now, but I’m just angry at whoever made the stupid decision at Sega Europe to have it as a download-only release, because it means that there’ll be less sales than in North America due to it being that way as well as the inevitable obscenely expensive price, especially if the Vita version does come out and has a physical release in Europe along with a download release.

And to think Sega had the right idea to release Anarchy Reigns at a reasonable price of £19.99/19.99 Euros when it came out on disc a few months back. Sega: Masters of One Step Forward, Two Steps Back!

On another note, any news of Phantasy Star Online 2 (especially the Android and Vita versions, that plus I’d kill for a HD remake of the original series as well!)

  • Final-Starlight7

Funny that I bought a copy of the Japanese version and now it`s going west. Well, I`m glad people in the US can enjoy this game too. Anyone that likes Miku and her songs, this is good to pick up and get some new favorites. I had a lot of fun with the Japanese version, despite not having the best Japanese.

  • Rain_Bow_saurus

I’m not surprised they’re not bringing over f, they only mentioned F on the Facebook page.

Either way, they’re the exact same thing. Only differences are that the PS3 version has crisper graphics, more costumes, accessories, songs, and edit mode content, star notes use the analog stick instead of touch screen, and the augmented reality is replaced with a different but similar system.

You can get the extra stuff on the Vita of course, but it’s DLC. Maybe that’s why they’re only doing F (although there are DLC.characters for both versions…I wonder how they’ll handle that)

  • WOOOO!! I imported the one on the Vita, and now I get to play it on my ps3! Thank you Sega!!!

  • @86 in reply to
I see where you are coming from, but more people own PS3’s, more money will be made from the PS3 version, and the extra content is free. The DLC for the Vita one is paid, so it will likely save us some money if its not a $59.99 game. But still cheaper than importing it and buying the DLC. i have Project Diva Extend on my PSP, so I do enjoy having it on the go, but Diva F is so pretty, I played the Japanese demo for a few days before tiring of the 3 songs and costumes. I look forward to Platinuming it and enjoying it. Just be patient, if Sega starts to see that America won’t betray them again, they might start helping us out again with portable games. But the fact is right now, if they released the Vita version, all people would do is pirate it and Sega of America would be right where it was with PSPo2, i.e. broke.

  • @234

People who want the vita version want them to release both versions (and PS3+Vita userbase is bigger than PS3, especially considering people who would double dip). PS3 has more users, but as a niche game sales don’t scale linearly with userbase, and people who enjoy project diva games are biased to handhelds since that’s what we used to play the previous games (at the point of importing).

And since it’s pretty much the chance of testing the viability of the series on the west it would be better to try not to divide the fanbase this way.

About the price, Sega decides the price so if it will be cheaper or the same it would be up to them. I wouldn’t mind of paying more to play on the vita (I still play the game almost a year later, and will like to continue playing without effort after the PS4 takes the space on my TV).

And also you’re mistaken, there is no vita piracy different from another more popular system.

  • Oh snap and I was thinking of importing this game…… So excited for this.

  • Omg, Sega take my money!” Crosses fingers for vita version”

  • JessieSushiKyon

I’d definitely buy it!!! even though iv’e already bought the jpn version both ps3 and vita :))

  • I was shocked, but now as extremely excited as everyone else, when I saw the announcement. THANK YOU, definitely on the buy list. Can’t wait for the demo, and I especially can’t wait for the game. Now if we could only get Hatsune Miku and Black Rock Shooter outfits for PS Home…

  • JessieSushiKyon

pls make a vita version (english) too!! ^^

  • So am I gonna have to get the game digitally anyway just in case you guys decide to make a Vita version anyway and just in case you decide to make it cross buy?

  • WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO! MIKU MIKU MIKU!

I thought this day would never come. It almost makes up for Valkyria Chronicles 3, almost.

  • Oh, and even though I don’t own one, I think that releasing a version for the Vita would be a huge hit here.

  • Yes! Will definitely be buying this. Hopefully more niche titles get released over here, Japan keeps so much good stuff to themselves!

  • After seeing some of the replies, I have to say:

    +1 for a Vita localization!

I want this on PS3 mainly, but I’d jump on the Vita version as well. Plus, the Vita is in great need of better games in the west. When I see its library in Japan, especially compared to the west, along with my (non-existent) knowledge of Japanese which prevents me from importing these titles and enjoy them, it almost makes me regret ever purchasing one. People say it isn’t Sony’s fault, and while “technically” true, it’s also Sony’s job to push the Vita out there and make it a platform worth developing for, which they aren’t doing in the slightest.

  • Oh my god…
MIKU’S GAME IS COMING TO THE US!!!!!!

  • getting this Day 1 :D

can we have Yakuza HD, Yakuza 5, for PS3 and Valkyria Chronicles 3 + Extra Content for Vita!!!!

  • I’ll be honest and say that I know absolutely nothing about this title, but I will try out the demo, and I am glad to see more Japanese titles coming to PS3.

On that note, let me also add my voice to the requests for Yakuza 5, Yakuza 1 & 2 HD, and a Skies of Arcadia HD (with the Dreamcast music and the Gamecube extra quests/characters an optional DLC upgrade).

And hell, why not…Valkyria Chronicles 2 & 3 HD. The PS3 is where the Valkyria Chronicles series has its biggest fanbase. Give us the series again on home console and we’ll gladly buy it.

Is it too late for hope for a trophy patch for the original?

  • Please give us Yakuza 5 !!!!!!!
