The Drop: Week of July 1st 2013 New Releases

On PSN and for PS3 comes, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War brings to life the intensity and drama of a war-torn Medieval Europe featuring a rich tapestry of legendary characters including Joan of Arc and Prince Edward, the Black Prince.

Also on PSN for PS Vita, Velocity Ultra is a remake of the original PS Minis game and features trophies, online high scores and a completely overhauled visual style at native PS Vita resolution. Enjoy this week The Drop!

Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War — Utilizing a next-generation game engine, the game’s armies collide on the battlefield at an unprecedented scale. Countless numbers of men consumed with ferocious intensity converge on screen, where tactics and cunning combine with valor and might to determine who is left standing at the end of the day. The game puts players in the role of a rogue commander and gives them direct control of mercenary units in fierce clashes with English and French forces. You must adjust strategies as skirmishes evolve, and then deploy the unit best-suited to handle the challenge. Game progression is wholly dependent on a player’s decisions and accomplishments on the battlefield.

Velocity Ultra (PS Vita) — In 2212 the distant star Vilio exploded into a red giant, sending an electromagnetic pulse surging into our deep space mining ships, colony cruisers and Special Forces fighters. Now the star is beginning to collapse into a black hole, pulling our stranded fleets to their doom. To make things worse, our warring neighbors have deployed scavengers to prey upon our people. Only one craft is capable of a rescue mission, the Quarp Jet — a spacecraft capable of teleportation.

Tour De France 2013: 100th Edition — Gain the lead with full control over your speed, effort and racing trajectory around every bend. Plan your race strategy and use realistic team tactics to conquer each stage of the race. Team up with a friend in co-op mode or battle it out for the yellow jersey in versus mode.

  • Europe gets Battlefield 3 & we get Bladestorm? Come on Sony…

  • Finally. Farming Simulator has come to NA!! Yay! Is it $9.99 like the 3DS version?

  • BANDAI PLEASE RELEASE DIGIMON GAMES FOR VITA!

  • Where is muh PS+ update

  • Never heard of bladestorm. Is it any good? And how much does it cost?

  • Great to see some VITA games released this week. Really wish we could see the original .hack// (infection, mutation, outbreak, and quarantine) series for either the VITA or just as a PS2 classic, though I think it would be better served on the VITA.

  • These are the new releases not the PS Plus update!!

  • Between Hot line miami, Masamura and Velocity Ultra im going to ve glued to my vita. Next time space em out my wallet is hurting :)

  • Don’t hold your breath on getting what EU is getting. You must be new here!!

  • Plus update is on Mondays. Get with it! :P These are just new digital releases and what have you. That being said, Bladestorm is like 5 years old and probably grossly overpriced lol.

  • And please god no BF3 for all that is holy.

  • @4 PS Plus update will be listed on Monday.

  • @1 That is not for PS Plus this is just a regular digital release.

  • This is just sad, Sony is ALWAYS catering to the UK, yet the NA spends TONS more money on gaming. That Bladesstorm game had better be free.. I would trade everything on this list for Battlefield 3. And I don’t even play that many FPS’s.

  • @Knightedrik

Do you even read prior to posting? These are the new digital releases. They are not a part of PS Plus. That update comes tomorrow and the free titles will be available on Tuesday when the store updates.

  • We want BF3 like EU gets it. We also want to get all content at once at the beginning of each month like EU always gets it, not 4 updates – 1 per week like we always get it. Why is that anyway? You probably just want to give us more time to buy some games so you can put it after for free/discount to PS+, smart. Also we want to know what we are going to get at least a week before, like EU always gets it and not 1 day before an actual update.

Why are you treating us worse?
    That’s sad Sony.

  • CRASH BANDICOOT AND SPYRO FOR PS VITA!

  • yes some warriors orochi thats what im talking about! now we just need some DW and some SW action on here! :D

  • Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain compatibility for Vita
    please & thanks.

  • Bladestorm?

  • to all who think this is the PS+ update please read the title for once……also kinda dry week for releases =/

  • @trum3n1

Speak for yourself! We all don’t want BF3, I sure as hell don’t! And if you go and read the EU PS Plus blog you will find out they don’t get everything at once like you said they do. Get your facts straight. Yes, they do get their monthly update two weeks before we do. Morgan replied that’s not what the US wants to do in case there are changes, etc.

  • @ klassymike

Do you know something we don’t.

What are the odds we will get BF3 along with EU.. I’ll say about 3% or less.

  • @16 You do realize that complaining about Plus on a post listing the new releases for the store is pointless right? Plus updates are Monday. Comment then, because Rey never replies to any comments on these posts. Also, are you kidding me? We get a monthly update at the beginning of every month for the past 2-3 months, ALONG WITH weekly updates. Best of both worlds. Why do you have to have it a week early? That’s more confusing than anything. “Oh hey, it’s June 19th, let’s go ahead and tell you what we’re gonna give you two weeks from now.” rather than “Oh hey, it’s July 1st, let’s go ahead and tell you what you’re gonna get tomorrow.” Much easier to remember and keeps dates from getting mixed up.

  • Please Sony canyou give us Samurai Warriors 2 and Samurai Warriors Extreme Legends too?? I’ll Appreciate it! XD

  • @Knighedrik, you know that you can get EU Plus right? Would do you more good to get EU Plus if you like those game offerings better, and would save you the time of having to express your dissatisfaction with US Plus. Not trying to be a jerk, I’m offering legitimate time- and money-saving opportunities.

  • @Knightedrik also, I personally don’t want Battlefield 3. Think it’s a terrible game. But to each their own, of course. Not like Plus has had enough shooters or anything. Don’t give us a good meaty WRPG or JRPG.

  • Bladestorm!!! ima get it!
& we are close to get dw series

  • @Knightedrik

I will say this much….We have never to my knowledge anyway, had the same titles as the EU in the same month except for the recent year long titles that we all got. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but none that I recall. We have got some of the titles, but it was months after they already had them.

  • Red Dead Redemption, Dead Island or Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Those are some games I would like.

  • The fact that we do spend so much more than the EU market is the reason why we do not get the big name games like EU does. Sadly different regions have different markets. What do you people not understand? Sony America does it’s best to get the highest quality games it can, but publishers decide whether or not to give it free on plus. Publishers have found that US people are much more free spenders so they don’t like giving out a game maybe more US people may buy especially when they hear it’s free in another market.

So it is all of these instant gratification United States consumers who make it difficult for us to get highest quality games. STOP BUYING EVERYTHING and you may get better free GAMES.

  • PS2 classics playable on the Vita!!

  • @31 So it’s our faults that because we enjoy entertainment & support the things we love that in turn we should be penalized & your only solution to this problem is to become cheap & not support people so we get free games? That logic is flawed.

What Sony should do is this.

If a game, for example let’s say Dead Island Riptide, is about to release in the coming months Sony should give Dead Island for free a month or so before the release of Riptide. By doing this players can experience what that franchise can offer & can see if it’s something they like. Suddenly someone who had no interest in Riptide would play Dead Island, enjoy it then perhaps go out & buy Riptide for PS3 because they were given the chance to try out that particular franchise.

EU gets Battlefield 3, which I believe is a good way to set people up who are naysayers of Battlefield games to try it out. Those people try out the game & guess what comes out in a couple of months? Battlefield 4. Raise awareness, allow people to try it & you will see profit.

  • never for me this week.

  • @ klassymike @ somebignasty

I agree with the rpg thing, My fav 3 genres are RPG, Racing and Survival Horror.. I just wanted BF3 to play with friends. And yes, I could just get EU plus, but it’s a hassle getting EU PSN funds, sketchy websites and all. Anybody know of a trustworthy site to buy EU cards/Plus from? (That doesn’t overcharge by half.)

I know the Plus update is tomorrow, and we were promised big things.. so who knows.. maybe.

    @ 30

    I completely agree.

  • The PS+ monthly outlook for July hasn’t even been shown yet. Wait for the post tomorrow before complaining. PS+ updates are always posted on Mondays and added on Tuesdays when the store updates.

    Sorry for the double post!

  • Where is BF3 for Plus? So jealousy with EUR members!

  • from the looks of it -so cool http://www.koei.com/bladestorm/

  • All I’m saying is it is not SCEA’s or these blog members fault. If there are games you want on plus talk to publishers of said games, the really greedy ones.

  • Bladestorm! I love that game. Hopefully its reasonably priced

  • I’m glad our plus doesn’t get BF3, another older, bargain bin (literally got my copy there), shooter style game.

For once it seems like the EU and NA get about even quality of games, meaning lately the EU hasn’t been as good as it was a few months back.

  • Oh yes, Farming Simulator & Velocity Ultra.

This is gonna be a good week.

  • Would love to see SUIKODEN II along with VALKYRIE PROFILE (or the PSP version ‘Lenneth’ available on PSN for PSP/Vita).

  • How long till we can play Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops on Vita? Come on.

  • Glad to see there’s going to be a Velocity Ultra demo. I played it briefly at GDC, but didn’t have much time with it and didn’t really know what I was doing. Looking forward to some more hands-on with it because graphically, it was awesome.

  • Vita IGC Suggestions:

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (EU got it)
    LBP Vita (LBP2 was removed)
Escape Plan or Little Deviants (both show off how the Vita’s features can be used)
Rayman Origins (Rayman Legends on its way)
LEGO The Lord of the Rings (LEGO Marvel Super Heroes on its way)

  • Read somewhere the Gran Turismo 6 demo would also be out this week, but not on the list. Was that a mistake?

  • Really dry this week….Hopefully the plus list for July is a good one.. Happy early 4th of July to everyone

  • Velocity Ultra looks amazing! I will be buy that D1!

Also, I just bought Legends of Chima Laval’s Journey for the Vita and it’s great! It’s a fresh and original Lego game. Anyone on the fence should give it a try you won’t be disappointed. Also, it seems to be a good port since this isn’t available for the DS but is available for the 3DS. The weird thing, that I don’t understand is that it’s only available at retail and not on the PSN which is a huge bummer.
