The Drop: Week of July 15th 2013 New Releases

On PS3 Blu-ray and PSN this week, Dynasty Warriors 8 follows the stories of the kingdoms of Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin through the actions of historical military and political figures of the time as they fight to gain control over the Three Kingdoms of China.

Giving stronger emphasis in the stage of these epic battles and inspired by the landscape of ancient China to deliver a wide range of visual treats, Dynasty Warriors 8 will feature more than 40 completely new stages: verdant plains, desolate wastelands, sharp ravines, huge castles, and other breath-taking sites.

Enjoy this week’s The Drop!

Apart from the Story Mode, which comes with new episodes and characters and takes a deeper look at the drama that unfolds in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story, Dynasty Warriors 8 includes all new “What if?” scenarios. Breaking away from historical fact, this mode takes a look at what could have happened if famous characters had lived to fight another day. Stories branch out to different outcomes providing variety in the course and ending of the game, and giving the players the power to view an alternate version of history depending on their choices. The game also boasts a vast number of new and returning playable characters, as the highly anticipated officers Yue Jin and Li Dian from the Wei Kingdom, who make their first appearance in the series, alongside more than 70 playable characters that fight to prevail in the battlefield.

  • Capcom vs SNK 2?
    OHHHHHH **** JUST GOT REAL

  • Finally first and all I want is Fatal Frame 3 PS2 Classic

  • 1st!

  • Will DW8 have the pre-order DLC costumes?

  • Got to love when childish individuals scream about how they’re “first”, meanwhile nobody cares and someone who doesn’t actually care about it ends up being the first post..

Anyway, looks like just Dynasty Warriors 8 for me. Heard it’ll be an extremely long download though..(19GB).

  • Wow, that’s an unusually large number of games coming in a summer week.

  • Epic FAIL !!! “1ST”….LMbooooooooOOO Oh yeh,……Keep on Gaming.

  • OMFG. Capcom vs SNK 2 finally a real classic on “Ps2 Classics” :D

  • Nick Suttner said an anticipated PSone Classic would be coming to PSN this week. Where is it? Pls respond

  • Time and Eternity looks good, and Mystic Chronicles also catches the eye. I have a few of Kemko’s RPGs on my Kindle Fire. They are all really good little games, a lot like Final Fantasy. If Mystic Chronicles is anything like the rest of them, it should be a pretty decent game. I just hope it isn’t $14.99 or more. They cost around $8 give or take for the Kindle Fire, and a few weeks ago, they had them all on sale for 99 cents!

  • Finally Capcom vs SNK2 comes to the store, well there goes my weekend

  • PS4 still has time to implement retrocompatibility through software emulation with PS3 games, PS2 games and PSX digital games through software emulation (which they already have in their Gaikai milk-off-more-money-from-players system) and decline Plus being mandatory to play online maintaining online playing free for everyone. I want my PS3 digital purchases through the PSN Store to be playable and DON’T WANT TO BUY IT AGAIN WITH THAT CHINESE SCAM SERVICE CALLED GAIKAI. If they don’t, I will give the thumbs down to PS4, use my PS Plus account to “buy” free PS4 games (no paid games) and only buy it after it has dropped it’s price dramatically or they add compatibility with PS3 in any way they want to and they decide to keep as valid my games collection. I encourage everyone that bought over 190 digital PS3 games supporting this company to do the same. RESPECT TO MY PS3 GAMES COLLECTION!

  • Time and Eternity language?

  • Finally, CvS2 is coming to PSN. When is Capcom Fighting Evolution coming to PSN? Thanks.

  • @12 You know you could just play your PS3 games on your PS3. Crazy as it may sound.

  • Time and eternity? hmmm.. no H no buy. MWAHAHAHA
    (Yes, i’m single.)

  • So Dynasty Warriors 8 and Time and Eternity will be on PSN store right ?

  • Time and Eternity would be nice, but I bought that last year. Sooo, unfortunately, nothing for me this week. Keep up the good work.

  • okay I understand you promised 85 vita games, but do they have to mostly be cell phone games? disappointing.

  • The PS2 game I’d love to see ported to PS3 above all others is Gradius V. Or heck, I’d take a Treasure-developed Gradius VI…

  • I hope the Vita PS+ games come out this week because these dont appeal to me. But it is a great day for people who enjoy these games. Good work team.

  • don’t waste 60 bucks on horrible games is Time and Eternity because it got under 50 on Metacritic score.. also don’t waste 60 bucks on garbage game is Dynasty Warriors 8 too —> not worth buy

  • ^ Judging games based off Metacritic alone is foolish.

  • What is Alien Spidy for PS3 or Vita and if both will it be cross buy? Not sure why I’m asking this question since no ones going to answer it anyway.

  • I googled Alien Spidey (since someone’s not doing their job, and see it’s for Vita. Not sure about PS3 though.

  • May pick up Kung Fu Rabbit if the price is right.

  • any chance of Crash Twinsanity coming to psn store? would really love it.

There is a judge on every game site…. Heh heh heh

  • Decent drop this week!

DW8 is gonna be taking up much of my time methinks..

Still waiting on Dark Cloud/Dark Cloud 2 though … seriously are we ever getting them on the classics range?

  • Ok I went searching and found out that Alien Spidy will be cross platform on the PS3 and Vita doesn’t anything about cross buy though.

  • @15
    Craziness!

  • CRASH BANDICOOT AND SPYRO FOR PS VITA!

  • Dynasty Warriors 8 is all for me this week, unless by some miracle Dead Island GotY is only $9.99. I won’t pay a dime more for that game. Plus try to give us a Plus Discount on DW8.

  • Will definitely get Mamoru-kun.

For those interested in Time and Eternity. Don’t get it. I played 20 hours of the JP version. The ambition of a full-hd anime game was good, but it doesn’t even have close to the budget needed to make it a good game. They just messed up every step of the way.

  • Also, please stay far away from Time and Eternity (TokitoTowa). Not only is it trashed by western reviewers on metacritic, but japanese gamers themselves have placed it on several ‘worst of 2012’ lists. If Japan hates it, you KNOW it has to be god awful.

  • ThievenStealberg

    Cool

  • Is Doodle God the exact same game that can be played for free on Kongregate? Certainly sounds like it.

  • @35: No. I will buy it, because I have my own opinions. But thanks for trying to tell me what to do with my money. If you want to start paying for my games, then you can tell me what to buy. Otherwise, shoo.

“If Japan hates it, you KNOW it has to be god awful.”

That was the most nonsensical line of English words on any gaming blog, period.
You really are full of ridiculous comments every week.
Were you aware of that…I think you say these things seeking someone to remind you of your foolish behavior and how unnecessary your presence here truly is.

  • @Ryumoau

You don’t see the irony in pining for Dynasty Warriors 8 (a crap game), but hating on Time & Eternity? To each his own, kid…

  • GStylez1980 , do you not see your hypocrisy in your very own post?…You’re telling him it is wrong to simply outright call a game a crap game due to other people having different opinions…yet you say Dynasty Warriors 8 is a crap game.

If Dynasty Warriors was in ANY way a “crap game”, it wouldn’t be making the sales it does…nor would it be up to whatever amount of releases the actually games are up to now (considering 8 is not an accurate representation with all the spinoffs..).

Practice what you preach chief. Some people love Dynasty Warriors. You don’t have to for it to be a good game to them.

  • is shaun skate white skate boarding coming to vita?
i dont know about any other vita owners but this system sold to me with quality not quantity,
theres like a hundred vita titles and most of those are pretty much mini games that can be on ipads..
its become a app like device i understand it takes time to get it started but we’re coming to two years not to far from now.. i thought AR gaming would have its own section with a ton of titles not about 7.
its potential is endless yet most have those doubts like its already ended
these things are worth the investment for your true fans the ones who bought it day one
and will continue to follow for the hope of its success..
love sony, but there needs to be a bigger team dedicated for vita

  • cannizzaro, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news…but the Vita is a handheld device. Handhelds always take a backseat…most companies have very little interest in developing things for handhelds due to the minimal amount of money that can be earned on them, specifically things like the Vita.

Sony is not at fault for the poor count of releases on the Vita…they cannot simply convince everyone and their brother to put extra work in to release ports to the Vita as you people see fit. Sony is not responsible for the vast majority of the releases on the Vita…that is third party companies…companies that need to be CONVINCED to release on the Vita. Go and bark up their tree, not Sony’s…Sony can’t do much about it.

  • @35 (Ryumoau)

Sadly, you’re too late to tell me. So were those who previewed the game at E3 and whatnot. I’ve already been charged and am awaiting shipment of the Limited Edition of the game. I will play and beat it (including the DLC), and if I have the patience, I’ll plat it as well, and then give my final judgement of the game.

You know, it’s kind of funny how everyone got hyped by looking at the trailers and stuff, and then throwing tomatoes at it when it came out in Japan.

Now, if it’s Hyperdimension Neptunia bad or Sonic 06 bad, then…

    @40 (GStylez1980)

Exactly. But he does have a point – everyone seems to hate it. But I don’t, and won’t until I see why everyone hates it for myself, as I said above.

    @41 (Death8u4u)

Well, when it came out in Japan, there were reportedly LOTS of game-breaking bugs and glitches…

  • Tjoeb123, good thing this isn’t the Japan release then…right? >.> Games have bugs..often. It happens. It doesn’t render the game a crap game, it simply renders the developers to be human. Bugs and glitches CAN be fixed. Not that I’ve seen any of these issues..all the videos I’ve seen people ran the game just fine as long as it wasn’t on the Xbox.

  • @43

    “Handhelds always take a backseat.”

Um…That OTHER handheld has quite a few good titles, including a particular JRPG that’s coming out for the platform this week.

  • @45 It’s rare for localizers to actually fix bugs…

  • Tjoeb123…it is a handheld. It takes a backseat. What don’t you comprehend about that? There are FAR more development teams ready and willing to release a game on modern consoles than there are ready to release on anything other than a phone…due to phones having a much larger community. That is the way companies have always worked, they focus on the majority. That is why you don’t see squat being released on the Vita because there simply isn’t that much money in the system, let alone a niche market for random games.

As far as your “localizers” theory, I have yet to run into a game-breaking glitch on ANY Dynasty Warriors game that hasn’t been patched within a few weeks. Perhaps it isn’t the game, but your system.

  • Dragonslayer_023

Do not buy Time and Eternity guys, that game is seriously bad news. (Love you NIS)

  • Crash and Spyro for Vita, please.
