The site will tally all of your hard-earned Gold Trophies, and you’ll use them to bid on 15 unique items (don’t worry, you’ll keep the actual Trophies associated with your PSN ID). You’ll bid on the items you want using Gold Trophies and skip the ones you don’t. Each day will see a new item go up for bid for just 24 hours, so be sure to check back often!
Of course, you’ll want to think strategically. Spend all your Gold Trophies in one shot to try and score your dream item, or split your proceeds and go for several? The choice is yours. And the best part is, if you’re short on Gold Trophies you can earn some on your PS3 and PS Vita then come back to bid again.

As a person with a decent amout of gold trophies I must say great idea on the contest.
Too bad the people at Sony will not police this stuff and ban the hacked/cheated accounts. I mean a quick scan of peoples accounts and it tends to be VERY obvious if they are legit or not.

I hate to say I’m a little disappointed in Sony. The competition was a great idea, sadly one damaged by the first winner not exactly being the most honest of trophy hunters.
But the disappointing thing is Sony’s response, a veiled “we’ll look into it” and then to hide the names of the next winners which could leave them the open end of saying they “validated” the winners but chose to keep the names hidden and allow hackers to represent “greatness”.
Sadly I think Sony should change their slogan from “Greatness Awaits” to “Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat.”

“I smell ignorance and jealousy” – LOL, you kidding me? No one is jealous of the amount of time you’ve spent tallying up games you wouldn’t have played if it wasn’t for trophies. Spending a huge % of your life on obtaining plats for kiddy games and really horrible games doesn’t make you a gamer, it makes you a loser. Same with double dipping by playing those bad games twice for VITA and PS3 and spending all that money and time doing so LOL.
Hacking game trophies, especially for good games, makes you even worse than the above. Not only are you then spineless and without honor to your fellow gaming community that you claim to be a part of, you’re also by definition not a true gamer, who would earn each and every trophy no matter how long or hard it is, with dedication and skill.
We’ll see how proud they are 10-20 years from now when the PSN trophy card becomes extinct because another console has come out/ Sony has left gaming.

FYI to all Canadians
I used to work for PlayStation Canada and they are very much separate from the Americans. It sucks this isn’t available for us but honestly after watching how badly that company was run I am not surprised there isn’t anything for us.
As an example we didn’t get a majority of our Vita signage until after release. Also with Vita they had us demoing in stores with nothing but Welcome park because they couldn’t get us memory cards. So we were trying to convince people to buy a Vita over a 3Ds with nothing but a few mini games. They sent us PSP banners for Wal-Mart when they meant to send us Move banners. And one final example of how badly run that company is is they didn’t change the interactives at EB for a whole year. So it is October 2012 and there is still trailers for Carnival Island coming soon.
So don’t be expecting cool contests any time soon is all I am saying :P

I spend my time playing VERY competitively online and playing many games that I don’t have the time to get all the trophies… I don’t spend my time collecting every flag in every corner of Assassin’s Creed for example just to get more trophies, because getting all the flags takes NO skill, it just takes lots of time and is a waste of time in my opinion. I like trophies that take skill, but are also fun and part of the game instead of something that is just busywork….. I also don’t play Hanna Montana or whatever just to get trophies. I’m not “mad” that I’d rather enjoy my 30 or so PS3 games in another way rather than be a trophy freak. While it is a step in the right direction it still seems somewhat unfair. In mere seconds of an item going up the bid is already at 200 gold trophies. So if the first person to bid only has 1 gold trophy and all the rest have cheated then he automatically gets it since no one can even bid if the number is higher than what they have. I just wish there was a better way they could have done this.

I have had a ps3 since before there were trophies. I have 62 disc based games. 25 downloaded games. 40 ps plus games. Had a vita since launch with 4 stick based games. 7 ps plus games. I play games constantly for someone who has a job and other obligations…I only have 68 gold trophies…so while I really like the concept of this little give away, it is very flawed…all the money I’ve spent on the playstation brand and the only “extra” thank you I’ve gotten is $20 in the form of two seperate psn codes…the playstation experience itself is an investment of sorts I get that, but still. Some kind of customer loyalty appreciation would be nice. Trophies for rewards is a good start, just needs a little fine tuning.

This whole contest is really awesome and badass, but all of us legitimate and hardcore players that work our butts off to get platinum and gold trophies know that we may not win. Why? Because there are cheaters and hackers that are giving themselves lots and lots of gold trophies in order to ensure that they win something. I mean can you really believe that someone actually earned 1,011 GOLD trophies without cheating or hacking. Sure it is doable, but EXTREMELY unlikely. I wish PlayStation would change this contest to something a bit more fair, like a random lottery. I thought I would do a little well with my 122 Gold trophies, until I read the rules to exclude Canadians; and the winners have over 1000 trophies.
U know that Canada has great gamers right; maybe America should stop excluding Canadian gamers especially with commercial prizes that is supposed to be about the glory of Playstation and GAMERS.
I have read a couple of the post from other people about hackers and cheaters, while I did not know that u could hack trophies I am not surprised, I will say this if u can not win a platinum without hacking u can not call yourself a gamer!
I’m sure SCEA has stopped reading these, but ROUGHDAWG4 who has won two auctions achieved the platinum trophy for SlyCooper: Thieves In Time in 46 seconds.
That seems suspicious.
When you transfer the save between the Vita and ps3 for games like Motorstorm RC, Sly 4, Sound Shapes, Stardrone and certain Metal Gear games, you unlock any trophies already achieved on the save on the 2nd system.
PRINCE_AZRAK is an obvious hacker though. NBA JAM was completed on his account with no timestamps. That’s impossible for a game with online trophies.
Heavy Fire Afghanistan was completed in about 4 minutes. It is a quick game but not that quick.
