As announced during PlayStation’s Gamescom press conference, there will be a simple way to upgrade to the PS4 digital version of four select games, for a low discounted price, when you buy the PS3 version of those games. Here are the full specifics so you’re set for November 15th — click here for full step-by-step instructions.
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition are the supported titles for this program. When you buy the Blu-ray Disc or digital version of these select PS3 games, for a limited time, you will receive an entitlement to download a PS4 digital copy of the same game from PlayStation Store when it becomes available, at the discounted price of $9.99.
Gamers who purchase a PS3 Blu-ray Disc of these four games will find a code packed into the PS3 version that they can redeem on PlayStation Store. To play the PS4 version of the game when it becomes available, you’ll need to insert the original PS3 disc in your PS4 to activate and play the PS4 version, so hang onto that PS3 disc!
Gamers who purchase the digital version of any of these four games will not need to redeem a code to receive their PS4 versions. When your PS4 arrives, just look for the PS4 version of the game on PlayStation Store – it will appear on PlayStation Store on your PS4 for the discounted price of $9.99. Just purchase it and start playing!
For those of you who purchase the PS3 disc version of the games, you do not need a PS4 system to redeem your code, so feel free to redeem it as soon as you pick up your PS3 copy — you can download your digital copy later when your PS4 arrives.
But don’t wait: This program lasts for a limited time. You’ll need to redeem your code and make the purchase before January 31st, 2014 (for Assassin’s Creed IV and Watch_Dogs), March 28th (for Battlefield 4), or March 31st (for Call of Duty: Ghosts) in order to participate.

What a let down -_- when I heard about the news I was happy an excited… but now that I read it I found out that this doesn’t work for me at all.
You see, I’m no rich in any way, so there is no way I could pick up the PS4 at launch, It would most likely take me more than a year to get my PS4, so I was happy to know that I was going to be able to get titles like Battlefield 4 for my PS4 and then when the moment arrives get them for PS4 with the reduced price.
But I didn’t know that would expire… I mean you leave me with 2 crappy choices, either, I get Battlefield 4 for PS3 and I F/()=@ myself and get it again for PS4, or I don’t play Battlefield 4 until I get my PS4 more than a year later….

I’m confused. Hasn’t every Fifa game sold more units on PS3 this generation? Would seem logical to have Fifa 14 as a part of this upgrade.
So if I get a collector’s edition Watch Dogs for PS3 will I get a code in the game case or is it only available to regular copies also will my preorder bonus pass over to the PS4?

I would like to hook up my PS3 and PS4 on two separate tv’s and be able to play on PS3 while my brother plays on PS4, but I won’t be buying a second copy of BF4 on PS3 to continue playing on the second tv. I’d rather just take turns playing the PS4 version. In fact, if I can’t continue playing on PS3, I’ll just wait the extra 3 weeks and buy it solely for PS4. Paying $60 for the PS3 seems like a bad value compared to buying it at the same price on PS4. Playing the older version is not worth another $60 if the PS3 digital version is no longer accessible.
With the $10 for $50 spent on PSN deal ending around the launch of BF4 on PS3 I am anxious to take advantage and buy BF4 premium and a 1-year PSN+ subscription while I’m at it.

what if i want BattleField 4 on PS3 now and want to upgrade it to PS4 around May 2014,
Can i do this:
1. Buy PS3 digital edition of BattleField 4 on release (October 31st)
2. when the PS4 comes out (or before March 28 when offer expires) buy the PS4 edition for an extra $9.99 so it goes in my downloads list. BUT still play on my PS3 until i get my PS4
3. when i get a PS4 around May 2014 just download it on my PS4 from downloads list.

Hmm… I am a bit disappointed. I do not understand why the PS4 is not truly backwards compatible; if it can read and verify information from a PS3 disc to play digital game content, then why restrict other PS3 titles?
Sony’s “offer” is 10 dollars more than the retail price of the game. For example, if I bought the PS3 version of AC IV at full retail price, that will be 59.99. Then, I would have to pay ANOTHER 9.99 to purchase the digital download PS4 version. Finally, I would have to keep the PS3 disc in order to play the PS4 digital download version.
Hmmm… yeah.. I think I will save myself the aggravation and just buy the PS3 version, since I am not getting rid of mine anytime soon and my PS4 purchase is waaaaay off into the future.

The price varies for each game according to Playstation customer service when I called earlier today, so the discounted price may not even be worth it. I’m getting a PS4 so I’ll be be buying the PS4 version of the game. The discounted price is not worth the risk if there is no exact price for the games yet, so I say ripoff until there are prices for the discounted games but time is running out if you pre ordered at a retailer like Gamestop for those exclusive bonuses. Hurry and give us those price ranges already because Watch Dogs comes out on the PS4 on 11/12/13, speed it up!
so it’s $10 to upgrade to the PS4 version… and right now SONY has a “Spend $50 get $10” offer right now on the whole PSN Store… so as long as you fully pay for the preorder… you can essentially get a free upgrade. Assuming you go the all digital game route.

@219 because the PS3’s Cell Processor’s architecture is entirely different than that of the PS4. Both consoles operate differently on a technical hardware standpoint so they can’t read games that were designed for an architecture that’s not theirs.
Is there any information on Watch Dogs? Now that the release date has been pushed back I want to know if this deal will still be available.
