Thanks to all of your support, Kingdom Hearts has sold more than 20 million units worldwide! In celebration of this, and with absolute pleasure, we’re proud to announce that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will launch globally in 2014!

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is the follow-up compilation to Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, and will be available exclusively on PS3. It will include the following goodies:

  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix — previously on PS2 and exclusive to Japan
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix — previously on PSP and exclusive to Japan
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (HD remastered cinematics)

I’m so excited to be able to see all of these games included as a part of this compilation, but personally, the most exciting title may be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. As many may not have been able to experience its awesomeness, it’s truly one of the more phenomenal games, and now completely rebuilt in HD — you’ll be able to play it on your big-screen TV for the first time.

Lastly, if you didn’t already pick it up, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is available for purchase, now. You might even be able to find the super rare, limited edition that contains the artbook.

    holy sweet mother of monkey milk THIS IS EPIC AS HECK WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT I LOVE KH i even have the KH2FM+ disc that i bought from japan and been playing it on a ps2 emulator now i have the chance to play it on the ps3 i am so pumped for this

    Would like it if you guys at least gave us a reason as to WHY Dream Drop Distance is not included in this collection.

    If it has something to do with Nintendo, then why was 358/2 Days and Re:Coded able to be added?

    Really excited for this HD collection! Already got the limited edition of HD 1.5 ReMIX and will surely get the limited edition for HD 2.5 ReMIX also.

    I have a question: Is there any possibility to see any Kingdom Hearts avatars on PS Store? It would be an instant download for me because I really would like it.

    Kingdom Hearts 2 is what got me into this series in the first place! So when I get this for my PS3, that’s another PS2 game going to my second oldest sister since I insisted that she try the game. Now all I need is a kingdom hearts PSN profile picture. ^_^

    I’m actually glad that Re: Coded is going to be included as a cinematic. I never played it (and have no real interest in doing so), but I’m still interested to see the story. From what I hear, it was kind of the dud of the KH series, so I think just including it as a cinematic was a smart move.

    I’m really excited about BBS though! I didn’t even know there WAS a Final Mix version of this one o _o

    As for 3D, I highly doubt that this won’t be released in HD before KH3 comes out. It’ll probably just be released as a standalone rather than part of a set. Which makes sense, considering the story differs pretty drastically from the others. We’re talking about dream eaters, not heartless or nobodies. I’m not sure it’d really fit in with the 2.5 ReMIX.

    Anyway, excited all around!

    I would love Dream Drop Distance to be included or even come sometime after the 2.5 but the game was just released last year so maybe that’s why. Maybe they just need some time. Really hope it does come to PS3/PS4. We need it to complete the collection!

    this should be on the ps3 and the ps4 but sadly the ps4 won’t be backwards compatible which is a bunch of bull. Also i hope they give the ps vita a kingdom hearts game like they did for the 3ds

    Finally confirmation that I can have my friend — who became disenfranchised with the series after the spinoffs started getting ridiculous with the storyline complications and gameplay styles (namely what he jokes as “Kingdom Hearts Super Calendar Adventure”) — play Birth by Sleep, which I feel is a proper “KINGDOM HEARTS 0”, without having to borrow my PSP (or play on a PSP at all, A/V out or not).

    Also excited for the KHIIFM extra battles, since it means we can fight the Organization members at full power in a more traditional KH battle system (unless 3D has this, too; been trying to avoid spoilers, since I’ve still to beat Re:coded). The XIII Mushrooms are neat, too.

    But, to complain about KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX for a moment…
    – Completing Ultima Weapon through repeated drops from the new gimmick enemies is more tedious and a pain than plucking out my body hair one by one.
    – Why, oh why, weren’t the “Beat the game on ___ difficulty” trophies stackable? So I’ve to run through three times?! Especially when the “beat with default gear” and “beat in X amount of time” would both be best for Beginner only? (And then the thought of beating the super bosses on Beginner meaning I’d have to redo all my Proud progress…)
    – Why weren’t any of the old items renamed to match the new Stones, or vice versa? Makes things more difficult to keep in line. Likewise, why not update the gummi ship “Diablos” to “Diabolos”?
    – It’s a shame the world-specific mini-plots were skipped in 358/2 Days (particularly Beast’s Castle), and that battles weren’t played out (though I appreciate starting the music for the penultimate final boss). However, why keep a scene talking about those late-game devices without displaying their use, either in cutscenes (again, animate battles) or the Journal/Reports?

    Square-Enix, it would make sense to also sell Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 on the PS4 as well since you have Kingdom Hearts 3 on there. I really don’t understand why these games are exclusive only to the PS3. Having them on the PS4 would mean that people would then be able to get all the Kingdom Hearts games all on one console, especially those who don’t already own a PS3. Wasn’t the goal of these HD collections to have all of the KH games all on one console? Having them available on the PS4 would have made sense. The PS4 isn’t backwards compatible so please consider a PS4 release of 1.5 and 2.5.

    Would a PS4 version of 1.5 and 2.5 on the PS4 be possible?

    I’m excited about 2.5. I’ve already played KH 2 and Birth by sleep. Never saw any of re coded. I still need to purchase 1.5, maybe I’ll wait till the new one come out. KH is awesome!

    I am so excited for this!
    Got KH1.5 Remix and loved it of course. But I have played KH2 FM before and it was absolutely amazing how much additional content there was. SO much love for KH2 FM. Can’t wait. :D

    I know it’s nice having all these games back to ps3 so i can finish the stories but i just need one story and thats dream drop distance which is before kingdom hearts 3 and after kingdom hearts 2 so if you can like squeeze in dream drop distance, that would be great

    i’m guess this is for fans only?..

    since will i understand the story if i did not even play the 1st game?

    too many sequels and spinoffs..

    i like how most of the final fantasy games have a different story/world.. **except for a few of them like X and XIII..

    i thought they are going to pack them all in like God of war series.. 5 games into one..

    but this 2.5… i’m not sure if i’ll understand the story so it’s better to pass on this series

    I heard there was footage of the original Kingdom Hearts in its early stages of development at the D23 Expo,any chance we can see that?It would be really interesting to see how the game could have been and the changes that were made in the final product.

    YES!!!!! I was so hoping for this announcement. Birth By Sleep was my favorite PSP game and my favorite in the Kingdom Hearts series. I was really sad when my psp’s analog nub broke and couldn’t be fixed(I tried all the online methods too), my BBS completion was stuck on 99%. Now I can replay the game to my hearts content and 100% it gladly. One of my favorite games of all time.

    this sucks! why no vita love? I MEAN FOR GODS SAKE this would do extremely better on the vita than ff10. im dissapointed with sqaure and sony more so on sony because they could of pushed the idea for this on vita! my vita is slowly dying. thanks sony

    the only thing i can say is that this is going to be great, i just wish that they would give the vita a kingdom hearts game and then i would be very happy, also if they brought all of these kingdom hearts game to the ps4 because if they don’t do that then that would be pure crap because kh3 was supposed to come out years ago and not be exclusive for just xbox one or ps4. Anyway i hope that they do something for the vita regarding these games because if ps one games work on the vita then ps2 games should work on the vita

    I’m getting a little worried though. I really hope that there is no online for the Mirage Arena in BBS. Online would ruin this game by making it incomplete at some place in time when the servers shut down.

    BTW The first game was released in ’02. if KH3 was released on ’15, that would mean it took THIRTEEN years to finish this saga. coincidence? or no? ;)
