I’ve also heard of the streaming service that is supposed to be like netflix but for games. Is this service like netflix in that it is a flat monthly/yearly fee for unlimited streaming? Or will I have to purchase (or in some cases repurchase) games at full price?

Can we please have some more information on how this is going to work? We do already own these games, so please be kind to your customers. :) There has to be something you can do to make this work so we all win. :)

U gotta be dumb and immature to cancel your preorder dont know why everyone is having a **** fit complain about DLNA/MP3/CD it will get taken care of its as simple as an update Sony will listen to its consumers just not supported at launch I think Sony wants to make its mark this generation and they will succeed.”

Don’t you think if Sony had any plans to add this with a firmware patch that they would LET US KNOW?!

Of course they are not going to add these functions. Why would they? People are still buying Sony PlayStation 4 systems quicker than they can be produced and they are selling $60 Music Unlimited accounts on top of top of this. Win/Win for Sony….

I hate Microsoft. I had 2 360’s #$%# the bed on me, but I am still considering buying the One. Why?!
Because I don’t like jail bars on my media.

  • It also sounds like they are adding DRM to your game recordings. So that Share button is useless.

“Can I share my game videos on YouTube?

No YouTube support is useless. They want you to be able to show it live and then have it forgotten about.
No way of archiving except for your own PS4 hdd with no options of sharing from there.

Sony is quieting dropping a bomb on us with this FAQ of restriction.
    No MP3
    No DNLA
No Bluetooth Headsets that are NOT from Sony
No YouTube support for sharing videos..

    What’s next?!?
No used games? It’s only a Firmware update away!

  • Well… another day, another post.

STILL NO OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM SONY !!!

    WE ARE WAITING…

  • Since everyone is complaining I thought I would give my two cents, lets begin. I don’t understand why its still square in shape. It would be much better if it was round then it could roll off my table. Also with it only having one controller what will I do with my feet. If there was a second controller I could use both at the same time! In addition, why is it called a PS4 why not call it PS-IV. I really hope Sony can solve these issues quickly or I might go out and buy a Sega-Mega Star System 2014….

  • I’m sorry to say… if the PS4 doesn’t support UPnP (DNLA) and .mp3 play support then I will not be buying a PS4… I would hate to have to switch to XBox just to get a proper entertainment machine.

  • No DLNA = No PS4. Xbox One just won. Sony you have 7 days to announce official support or my preorder is cancelled and games, controllers returned.

  • No generic support for controllers, such as steering wheels / racing combos? That’s a bummer… I have two Logitech G27s, which did not cost 5 bucks each and I would be SERIOUSLY annoyed if I find out that I would not be able to use it with the upcoming PS4 (which I pre-ordered, but am considering canncelling the pre-order…)

I understand that it’s up to game developers to provide the support for such equipment, but the fact that the platform itself will not make it easier is a decision I cannot understand.

  • I have been with SONY since PS1.

However, I just watched the Microsoft XBOX ONE Dashboard article reported on Engadget and I am absolutely blown away by what they demoed in that video.

The whole UI is so seamless and slick it just blows your mind. Having seen that video and ALL the recent “issues” raised in this FAQ i.e. lack of MP3, DLNA, USB HDD, No PSN ID Change etc and with SONY remaining silent – it seems that they would rather we switch our console buying preference to Microsoft.

Also, I hate to say this but at least they (MS) actual listen to their consumers – they made a huge mistake with their DRM policy during the initial XBOX ONE reveal but after the outcry from their fans they DID THE RIGHT THING and CHANGED THEIR POLICY !!!

    See… Change IS POSSIBLE !!!

  • No external hard drive support? No streaming from PCs? No audio CD support? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Why on earth would you take away those features which made the PS3 such a great console? I honestly might get the XBOX ONE just because of this

  • Hi, just wanted to voice my opinion about the PS4. I have owned the PS1, PS2, and have 2 PS3s. I have never bought an XBOX, or considered it, but after learning that SONY will no longer support DLNA, audio CDs and MP3s on the PS4 you have convinced me that I WILL NOT purchase the PS4. They dont leave potential buyers much choice. This does not make me very happy.

  • can you play PS3 games on the PS4 ?

  • PLEASE UPDATE THE INFO ON THE HARD DRIVE UPGRADING: I know it’s a 2.5″ INTERNAL LAP TOP HARD DRIVE.

BUT, what I don’t know, is what CAN WE PUT IN?

What is the result of we get one that has the 5400 RPM, compared too a 7200 RPM?

Does SATA II or is SATA III better?

Please, when you FINALLY update your NEW FAQ’ Part 2 with the answers we’ve been looking for, I BEG OF YOU. PLEASE. PLEASE LIST THE BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS OF EVERY kind

” 2.5″ INTERNAL HARD DRIVE, with all regards too the, varying RPMs, the SATA II, the SATA III…etc and

would puting in a SOLID STATE DRIVE, BE more beneficial?

Thank you. Many sales are going on and w/ Black Friday 3 weeks away, there are tons of deals on “2.5” internal lap top hard drives and I want, as does everyone else who is getting a PS4 next week wants to know this info ASAP so we can have it in our hands, ready to go once its in my home!

  • Just to be clear I can use Solid State Drives for PS4 right? And how can I tell if the hard drive I’m buying is compatible with PS4? I’m planning on getting 4 TB HDD (can’t get me now ridiculous installation sizes!) ^____^ i gotta have at least 5 games installed at a time man (plus all psn titles), I’m just too ADD to stick with one game at a time.

  • 1 week. PS gamer since the beginning and pumped like you wouldn’t believe!

  • Can my child’s PS3 sub-account be changed to a master account on PS4 once they are past the age of 18?

Unfortunately, no. In this case, we would advise creating a new master account. We apologize for the inconvenience.

100s of games and over 2 years of ps plus library that I haven’t been playing in hopes of finding time later is a major inconvenience. Not to mention having to restart all online and trophies. Please fix this. At least lift all restrictions to users over 18.

  • Now in a response to someone’s comment on here it was said “We’re building out a big list to get it updated ASAP” in regards to questions people have posted here. Will this list your building be made viewable to us prior to ps4’s Nov. 15 release? Because i’d really like these questions answered prior to its release as this mp3/DLNA support is a hindrance to your overall great ps4 marketing.

  • Please allow external hard drives this might be a deal killer for me.

  • ASAP ASAP Please allow option to change country.

  • I cancelled my pre-order till some of these things get iron out. I don’t care about DLNA but the Mp3 is a bit of a downer. Upon reflection I think the other reason for canceling and holding out for now is the lack of games for a younger audience. My kids are 8 & 3 and if I were to get a Ps4 with them in mind other than Knack I don’t know what they could play. I might just sit it out playing GT6 as the delay of Drive Club at launch is a problem too. When Drive Club gets sorted I am sure it will be brilliant and worth the wait and give a younger audience a game that they can enjoy. From my point of view I still want one for Killzone and BF4 I might get the Ps3 BF4 for now and do the upgrade at a later date as that is a good option….

  • …The Xbox for me is just not doing it as it seems to be more expensive, a lot less powerful and yes it has more launch exclusives but I can’t get excited about Zumba for some reason??!! Cross play on the Vita looks like the killer feature on the Ps4 and I will get plenty of use out of that but I want to know a little more about Ps3 support and weather we can stream the games we own including our saves when that is running. The Ps4 is almost certainly going to win the console race and I am following the news every day with interest.

Regarding the other options I am still considering a Wii U for the time being as the kids will like that but I think it will end up gathering dust and I toyed with a gaming PC but I can’t see anyone but me enjoying that as it’s a bit more complex than the XMB.

I think come Nov 15th when the US release happens it will provide a lot more clarity.

  • Please answer this question will the us ps4 be dual voltage 110v or 220v because I may move to a country that uses 220v and I wanna get the ps4 next week

  • Please let me be able to play my own music in the background. I understand that you want Music Unlimited to become more popular but forcing our hand is no way to do that. I used my ps3 as my entertainment hub. Allow me to use my ps4 in the same manner.

  • would i be able to watch my 3D movies after doing the day one update like the film avengers.

  • Can we get a more in-depth, perhaps step-by-step process when it comes to upgrading the PS4 hard drive?

  • No MP3 is a non-factor for me until a WWE game comes out on the PS4 (for CAW theme songs). But I do have one question, do we back up our data if we can’t use external hard drives? I don’t plan on upgrading my HD day one, but I will eventually and would hate to lose my game data.

  • I wonted to know if the Wonderbook: Book of Spells is compatible with the ps4.
On one hand the FAQ says that move coontrollers an accesories are compatible but on the other hand I know theres no bakcwards compatibility with games. I wanted to knwo where does the Wonderbook stands. compatible or not?
    Thanks

  • What about the Official 2.0 PS3 Bluetooth headset? Will there be support for it as well? I recently bought one when you guys first said all wireless headsets would be comptatible, you can’t just render my purchase useless, specially when it’s a Sony product!

  • This blog is awesome, not sure how many people know yet but there is a 2TB hard drive that will be available really soon by Seagate, its 2.5mm so it will fit in the PS4 too – http://boxclash.com/seagate-spinpoint-m9t-2tb-first-2tb-drive-available-ps4/

  • What happen to ” pass control” to help friends remotly? Sony gone very quiet about it

  • Will things such as external hard drive and cd use be supported eventually or are those features that’ll never be supported?

  • Will Playstation Home make the jump to PS4?

  • Not sure if this makes sense but could I plug an audio splitter into the ps4 controller and then attach both my (sony pulse elite headset) & (the supplied earbud headset) and just use the mic from the crappy ear bud? anyone??

  • Great and very helpful guide,Not getting a PS4 until early next year but I wanted to catch up on some info!!

Looking through many of the comments and it seems a great new console and gaming comes last while custom music is primary !?,There will probably eventually be a patch to bring it back but even IF never then at least we can use music unlimited to listen to music in the background for games&non-gaming,Yes the subscription is $5-$10 but at least there is still a way!

Many are saying”Xbox one it is then”over this but you know we can’t rip cd’s anymore and mp3’s ain’t supported either right?,Yeah you can listen to cd’s but not during gameplay!

As for external drives..It’s the same as with PS3,It does support it for other things except installing game data,At least we can replace hard drives though unlike Xbox one

  • Will you be able to stream/remote play games from your PS3 to your PS4 or vice-versa, and if so, will PS3 games played on PS4 use a PS3 or PS4 controller and vice-versa? This would be very useful if you live frequently in two different places, and wish to play both sets of games at both locations.

  • Hello,

Not sure if it has been asked but with swapping the ps4 hard drive can this be done before even booting up the ps4 for the first time? If so does the system automatically sort itself out and write the system data to the new hard drive or do we have to transfer any of it from the old hard drive to the new?

    Thanks in advance

  • Using the Blue-Ray/DVD , is it for all regions or only for Blue Ray region A1 ( Americas ) and DVD region 1 ( North America ) ?

  • Don’t know if this has been answered already, if so sorry. But Are you saying basically that I will lose all my content (PS3 games that I have purchased and downloaded) if I trade in my PS3 for a PS4? Or will any of that content become available for me to reload again without repurchasing. I’m concerned as I just recently purchased GTAV through the store (yeah I’m late). I plan to trade in my PS3 to get the PS4. So from the way it looks I have to wait till I finish the game before I purchase the PS4 otherwise I won’t be able to play it.

  • Can I connect PS4 with my laptop screen? I have HDMI port… Thanks for answers .

  • I have some question regarding the bluray movie capability of the PS4, will it be:

    1.) Region free?
2.) Will it be able to play 3D movies?

  • Still waiting on that MP3/Audio CD Support Update Announcement.

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
    Help me in this situation:

I just recently bought the Sony PS3 Pulse (not elite) headsets and I do not know if they are compatible with my ps4. Everytime I call the Playstation support, i get a new answer. I just really need an answer. PLEASE answer I am really stressed out. Some say it requires an update. Is this update said in the faq the 1.50 update available at launch? Please reply, I worked all summer to afford this and idk if it works. PLEASE REPLY.

  • Could someone help me with this.

This FAQ sheet says the PS4 will only display HDMI output. However on the Gamestop website it says that it will also display Analog AV Output. I am confused because sony said it will not have a composite av output.
    Which one is true? Thanks.

  • When will we receive the new updated FAQ list?

  • How much is Play Station plus be when PS4 launch

  • Will ps4 support PlayStation home? Also a little disappointed that their no backwards capacity for the ps4 to ps3 games. So my ps3 games are useless now ? Ah well those are minor errors anyways. Doesn’t matter compared to all the achievements ps4 has made from the ps3. Ps4 is a beautiful system with colorful and breath taking game trailers and I can wait to get my hands on it. Thank you Sony and Sid Shuman. Good day to everyone.

  • I’ll buy once it has DLNA support for streaming video and mp3.

  • guys for cereal , I am super cereal , not being backward compatible is not going to fly for very long . you know the times we live in better than most . I love all of your games I have played and would like a console that can handle all of them or even a good portion of them . every time we or I am made to start from scratch makes me think of starting gaming with a different brand . it is not like I am not willing to pay extra for the ability , but having 5 different consoles hooked up is getting old fast . and you know what happens to old things . the consoles are all works of art in their own right , but even a console the size and shape of a blue whale is acceptable when compared to the frustration of losing a cord and then not being able to play a beloved game or going to buy a new one if it is even still being manufactured any more . looking forward to getting lost in more of your beautiful worlds , for cereal .

Final Fantasy XII would be so sweet on a ps4 , please make this possible .

  • So when someone does replace the stock HHD on the Playstation 4, will it be “plug and play” like the original playstation 3? Or will it be more like the Playstation 3 slims, with the need of a flash drive with the latest firmware on it to plug into the PS4 to update it and all that stuff?
