PS Plus: Ibb & Obb, Resogun & Contrast Free for Members

Kristine Steimer's Avatar Posted by Sr. Community Specialist

PlayStation 4 is only a work week away! Once a shiny new PS4 is acquired, PS Plus members will be able to download both Contrast and Resogun for free. Resogun is an intense new shoot-em-up from Housemarque, the talented folks behind Super Stardust, Outland and Dead Nation. If you’re someone that likes to get to the top of a leaderboard, Resogun should be right up your alley. In a completely different vein, Contrast is a beautiful puzzle-platformer where you control a little girl’s imaginary friend that can shift from the 3D world into the 2D realm of shadows. Of course, you’ll need something to do while you’re trying to keep your mind off the fact that the PS4 is ever-closer, so why not partner up with a buddy and tackle ibb & obb, an adorable gravity-centric puzzle game?

You can download ibb & obb as well as take advantage of the discounts below when the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow. Resogun and Contrast will be available starting November 15th.

Contrast (PS4)

Ibb & obb looks like a fun co-op game.

Excited to get PS4 hopefully this week. Have had the DS4 for awhile now. lol

Really looking forward to another awesome Sony console generation. Don’t leave the PS3 guys, I just put 1TB into it! More room for more greatness. :)

Will Contrast be cross-buy with PS3 (free for PS+) ?

If you’re already a Plus member, DO NOT try to use the Plus voucher packed with your PS4. Give it away to a non-member. Sony has confirmed that it WILL NOT stack onto your current subscription. You’ve been warned.

And here I was going to spend that $10 voucher my PS4 is coming with on Resogun! Now I don’t have to. You rock, Sony!!

This totally reminds of times gone by, when you bought a system and it came with a game… the way it should be.
ready to rock right out of the box.!!!

Thank you Sony for this awesome update and for what appears to be an awesome launch, with a little extra love for the gamers that love you.

and he price point still makes me smile.

when i stood in line n launch day for the original playstation, and had to buy a game,rf adapter and memory card.i spent far more then I will on the Ps4 which has everything my family needs for entertainment.and the psn + games.

it’s a good time to be a gamer.

Who confirmed it won’t stack?

I’ve gotten numerous free trials of PS+ and when put on my account it adds 1 month to the end date of my current subscription. Also last year, when Amazon did the PS VIta BF special, they sent 3 one month trials and not a 3 month code.

boomstickbhg said:

November 12th, 9:12 am

One of the sony staff or more replied to the Blog posts with their Red replies, stating repeatedly that the 30 day trial doesn’t stack with current plus, and they advise us to “give it to a friend”

ThumbsOfSteel74 said:

November 12th, 9:58 am

@162 boomstickbhg: Exactly. Thanks. :)

@161 TwinDad: Fair question. Eric Lempel of Sony confirmed it in this post a few days ago:

I don’t know how this Plus voucher differs from previous ones, and for all I know Sony’s reps could simply be mistaken. But for now, I’m taking them at their word. Someone mentioned this in the comments section of the Drop, so I thought I would try to set things straight.

BTW, any new members should be sure to use the 30-day Plus trial before adding more time. IMO it’s quite lame; all of us current members could have used a free month. But that’s apparently how it is.

I don’t plan on getting a PS4 for a long time. It’s completely understandable that Sony is going to be pushing the PS4, and that the plus subscription is going to reflect that, but as someone that is only going to have a PS3, is having PS+ even going to be worth it? I don’t know if it’ll be worth $6 a month just to keep the games I’ve previously downloaded if the PS3 isn’t going to be getting any games of substance anymore. Not trying to ruffle any feathers or anything, just curious as to weather Plus will be worth it for PS3-only owners in the future. I’m also a PSP owner so I know what it’s like to have a Sony system that isn’t really recognized by my Plus subscription. Thanks!

juvenlast said:

November 12th, 10:41 am

@ homeless_veteran

First of all it is more like $4.15 a month, not $6

Secondly, They have already stated that there will Vita, PS3, and PS4 PS+ releases every month. Not sure how long that will last, but they already do this for PS3 and Vita now. I don’t own a Vita, but it pains me to see those Vita games that I can’t lap up right now. It will be the same way with the PS4. There will be Vita, PS3 and PS4 PS+ releases.

Should be great. Keep that subscription. You are getting more than your money’s worth.

Hey Sony! I am not going to give any feedback on the games for PS Plus this week, but I will tell you one thing that irritates me every time I try to find out what the new games will be: the location of this blog! I have to go one page back to find it – I know, I sound like I am complaining too much over a little thing, but according to studies, most of us are too lazy to even scroll down the page. You should try having the weekly (important) blog static on the first page, or am I blind and it is already like that?

I bought Rainbow Six Vegas brand new & sealed off of Amazon about a year ago. It went on my shelf, and I was busy with other games & life in general. Finally, last week I opened the game and tried to play it– and the disc just froze at the loading screen. I made sure the disc was clean and tried a few more times. No dice. Basically, I threw away $20 on a brand new game that never worked. I’d still like to play the game, but that means paying $20 again, or best case scenario, picking it up for $10 off of the PSN store IF Sony does another big Tom Clancy sale next summer.

So my question is this… do you think Sony would ever do something where you can send in a physical copy and get the digital copy in exchange? Perhaps they could limit it to a handful of times (say 5) per account so people wouldn’t be taking advantage of Sony by buying a used game at the cheapest price they could find and then exchanging a digital copy. It would be a great way of standing behind their products and their customers (even when it’s a 3rd party publisher). I’m hoping to find a way to play the game I’ve already paid for without buying it a second time, particularly at full price.

CraddaPoosta said:

IGC = Indie Game Crap.

As I have frequently commented on, I no longer see my PS+ subscription as being anything more than a paid discount service. The discounts are the only reason I am keeping my subscription, with the terrible year of Android ports and 99-cent shovelware indie titles being generously offered by Sony through the IGC.

It’s just a suggestion, but, perhaps you could set up a separate service that focuses SOLELY on indie games, since you seem to be so deeply enamored of them. Then, people who actually like that genre and would prefer an indie game to a AAA title from a known developer can get exactly what they want, while the rest of us can get GOOD games, not just games that Sony is able to acquire for the IGC as cheaply as possible.

I am sure this has been answered already somewhere or alot of people complain about it already, but here we go. Why does Europe get great Playstation Plus bonuses (especially in the last few months) and the US get shafted? Metal Gear Rising? Assassins Creed III? I want those too!
I totally realize I should shut up and be happy with what I get as its FREE. Im just saying I see a lack of love for the US lately for Plus subscribers.

Help a brother out!!!

No PS4 games will only show up on the PS4 Store”

Tell me that SCEA and SCEE don’t have different policies on using the webstore for PS+ PS4 content right? Right???

evilwitch83 said:

November 13th, 11:45 am

You think that the US is shafted in favour of Europe?

You get to keep all 3 of your ps3 IGC games while ours have been lowered to 2.
You get to add PS4 games via the webstore while we can’t.
PS4 games are $60 in the US while they are £60/70 Euros ($90) in Europe.
You get much cheaper sales than us with a 50% plus discount while we only get a 10-25% discount.

Dragon_Rose said:

@178: On your PS3 just go to the PS Plus section of the PSN. Select the game, and begin the download, and accept the T&C. Then cancel the download after it begins, At least that is what I do for Vita games that I can’t play.

QUESTION: I won’t be getting the PS4 until December, however, id like to be able to have Resogun and Contrast free for when I do get the PS4. The problem is, the deal will probably be expired by the time I get my PS4. If I purchase the two games on the new app, will I be able to download them come December? Please respond, thanks.

TrueLordX said:

November 17th, 1:55 am

I’ve seen several people post comments about putting Resogun and Contrast in their download queue so they have them when they finally get around to getting a ps4. Since I’ll be getting one for the holidays most likely I plan on doing the same…

Yet when I go to the ps store neither games are showing form me. Contrast just has a description and Resogun is entirely absent. I’ve searched for them manually, looked in the IGC and checked both new arrivals and the plus section and nothing.

What am I missing here? How am i supposed to do this?

TimboJames said:

@ Non-PS4 owners tying to get the PS4 games:

Same situation here. Couldn’t find the games in the Store via PS3 so I signed on to my PSN account online. Both games are listed on the IGC but I can’t queue them up. I looked around the support forums and all I can say is things are a mess right now with the new console launch.

I would just be patient and wait for things to get sorted out. Besides, for those of us without a PS4, we can’t play these games anyway and they shouldn’t expire for a month. If you have, or will soon have a PS4, good luck to you. Hopefully your next-gen upgrade goes smoothly.

Dan46n2 said:

TimboJames is correct. Like others, I was looking through the PSN Store on my PS3 and online instead of the actual sonyentertainment store.

Thanks for the link.

Resogun and contract appeared and they are showing up as free on both of their pages. However, when I added them to the cart, they didn’t become free. I’ll wait till tomorrow and try to add them to my cart. Its possible that they are just making these two a part of the instant game collection for ps+ owners around Wednesday.
