This has been an incredible week at Naughty Dog as we were getting ready for two major reveals – both of which blew up the Spike TV PS4 All Access launch extravaganza.
We premiered our first teaser trailer for The Last of Us: Left Behind, a single-player DLC campaign coming early next year. But we weren’t done with announcements quite yet; we had one more treat for our fans – a teaser video that confirms we are working on an Uncharted game on the PlayStation 4 system!

The Last of Us: Left Behind is Naughty Dog’s first ever single-player DLC. Bruce, Neil, and the rest of the team are getting close to wrapping work on this new campaign, which will meet the quality and gameplay what you’ve come to expect with The Last of Us, along with a few surprises.
She’s back! Ashley Johnson reprises her role as Ellie in The Last of Us: Left Behind single-player DLC. Left Behind takes place while Ellie is attending a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events in the main campaign of The Last of Us.
In just a few short months since the release of The Last of Us, you have made it clear that Ellie has become one of your favorite characters in games. Today, we’re excited to confirm that you play as Ellie throughout the entirety of Left Behind.
Joining Ellie on this new adventure is Riley, her best friend and also a mentor of sorts at the military boarding school. Just as The Last of Us focused on the bond between Ellie and Joel, Left Behind explores the bond between Ellie and Riley through a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.
Bringing Riley to life through our performance capture process is the talented Yaani King, who we had the pleasure of working with on the DLC.
If you just can’t wait until the DLC drops to get more of The Last of Us, go out immediately and read the Dark Horse comic series, The Last of Us: American Dreams – which is conveniently available in the recently released paperback collection. I cannot recommend this series enough and it’s even more relevant now, as in the comic you will learn more about how Ellie and Riley first became friends, giving you even more insight into Ellie’s story in The Last of Us universe. And it’s also just plain great!
The Last of Us: Left Behind will be releasing in early 2014 – we will announce a specific date as soon as we iron out all the details. The awesome news is that Left Behind is included in the The Last of Us Season Pass, which also includes a ton of multiplayer DLC, and is the best deal you can get for all the DLC content we’ve planned to release – over 75% worth of savings compared to buying all the DLC separately. If you’re only interested in the single-player DLC, you can pre-order it starting November 19 on the PlayStation Store for $14.99.

We have great news for all our Uncharted fans – Amy, Justin, and the team are hard at work on an amazing new installment of the Uncharted series to be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 system. Our goal is to continue what we’ve done in previous console generations and once again deliver the best in storytelling, performance capture, technical innovation and graphics on the PS4. We can confirm that the voiceover is performed by Todd Stashwick and he will play a character in the game.
There isn’t much more we can say right now about The Last of Us: Left Behind and even less about our Uncharted project, but feel free to let us know what you think in the comments below. Believe me – we can’t wait to shed more light on both of these projects to our fans.

I feel like Last of Us is the Red Headed Step Child of Naughty Dog. Why so long for the DLC? And so much potential with the online but it’s like you are ignoring our ideas.
I actually want to clarify my post (139) a bit:
I want both; the next Uncharted and the next Jak and Daxter on the PS4! Since you guys have 2 teams I really would have like to have both Jak and Uncharted on the PS4! We are getting another Uncharted and I am excited! :) Now, we need Jak and Daxter too! ;)
In question #24 and #77 you mentioned the crash cameo but also I noticed something strange..above the sign there is an arrow pointing upwards and a yellow-orange diamond at the top of the sign….could this be a “sign” of something (no pun intended) coming up for the PS4?
Please dont make Uncharted a Mature game for PS4. I know you had a lot of success with TLOU, but don’t only go in that direction. I feel a lot of us want to have deep story driving gaming experiences that the whole family can enjoy together.
Also like others I would like another Jak. But I wonder could you give it to another studio like Sony Bend or Ready at Dawn. Bend did a good job with Golden Abyss, and Ready at Dawn did a great job with Daxter. I think there are other talented studios that can create engaging stories and satisfy the Jak crowd. Especially if they made another Vita game! Sony is pushing for Vita, and a Vita only title would be appreciated!!! Uncharted and Jak Vita!!!
And finally, as much as your Jak fans are desperate for a continuation please don’t give Jak away to Activision. We at least got to see Jak in PSASBR. :)

I literally flipped out when you guys announced Uncharted for PS4. This is one of the best things i’ve heard all year.. Hmmm after looking at the teaser im starting to assume things. Could the game deal with pirates? Earlier in a naughty dog last of us developer diary people were reporting a leak in the background which appeared to be pirate characters… After watching the teaser im starting to suspect even more that Uncharted for PS4 will be about pirates :D

My favorite character is Joel and I’m disappointed that he will not be in the DLC. If they decide to do a sequel I really hope Joel is in it as the main character. Also, there is so much background on Joel that was teased and we still want to know. The “Left Behind” story was already told and everyone knows how it’s going to end. It will be fun to play but kind of a buzzkill after the amazing first story where you didn’t know what would happen next.
Is uncharted 4 and the last of us dlc coming to ps3?, I bought the season pass for the last of us already but everywhere its saying that is only getting released on ps4.
I’m a really big fan of uncharted so it would be a killer if it was only out for ps4 since im not planning on buying it anytime soon since i only got my ps3 last year.

I was really hoping for a new Crash Bandicoot game but oh well The Uncharted series was amazing! I loved all of them! I love Naughty Dog! It’s just that I really loved Crash Bandicoot hehe. Can’t wait for this one! I hope The Last of Us wins all game of the year awards! If by chance it will have a GOTY release I’ll surely buy another copy of it for all of the DLCs will be there! Wow….. really disappointed right now. I could honestly care less about 3 bundles of masks and hats, what a waste of money. And the single player DLC is about RIley and Ellie? Really, thats the best story you could come up with? Failure. What about Joel and Tommy and their struggle to survive and cope with what Joel does as a hunter? That is so much more of a rich and deep story line than Riley and Ellie. I loved Ellie but not as much as Joel. He spent 20 years in the thick of it while Ellie is only 14, so she’s only been really dealing with it for a few years. I bought the season pass and I almost want my money back. So much potential wasted on this….
Slightly irrelevant to the topic, but is there a sequel to The Last of Us in the works? I haven’t really looked into it, so apologies if its something already made known to everyone. Either way, looking forward to the single player DLC, looks great.

Wow! This is all great news!!! :) Recently got a PS3 and played through the Uncharted series and The Last of Us and I must say, I was absolutely blown away. The Last of Us has easily made it into my top 5 favorite games of all time, and Naughty Dog continues to impress!
Definitely making a longtime committed Xbox gamer consider the possibility of going with a PS4 this time around. :D

I purchased the season pass after I had beaten the single-player a few months ago (Which I loved btw, got the platinum trophy for the game) and wanted more. With the recently announced SP DLC, which you can pre-order and get some goodies. I was wondering if season pass holders would get these goodies as well? I really want that Ellie theme.

you should make an rpg you have a lot of awesome ideas and talent last of us was a game i was unsure i would like but soon as i got my hands on it i couldn’t pry myself away and even got my couzens hooked on it rpg’s have been becoming more and more popular and i am a fan i personally would love a naughty dog rpg
I have played everything since Dream Zone and Keef. I love everything JAM and Naughty Dog has ever put out. I love Crash and Jake and Uncharted and TLOU. I even got the Dark Horse concept art and Steel Case preorder survival edition. And the steel case U3. Thank you for the incredible characters and stories you have brought me. The prologue in TLOU brought me nearly to tears. Thank you!
I actually can’t get enough of this game. It is hands down my favourite game I have ever played. I’m really looking forward to the release of Left Behind.
I was wondering if there is a second installment with Joel and Ellie being considered at all. There is so much more to see with the game and even though there is over one and a half hours of cut scenes in the game, it still wasn’t enough for me, I still wanted more! You can put me down for a pre-order to pre-order the next one :)
I was also wondering if Joel’s background would be explored at all especially with all the questions being raised with his brother Tommy and how he dealt in the 20 years since the infection hit.

The last of us was by far the best game I’ve ever played but i got rid of my ps3 for the ps4 though the last of us would work on the ps4 sooooooooo stupid i didnt keep the ps3 !!!!!!

Awesome!!!!!I love the entire U.C series and was my favorite games up until the day The Last of Us dropped and I absolutely fell in love w that game.Do u guys have any idea when The Last of Us will b available on PS4 thru psn or Gaiki???I had to sell my Ps3 to make up for the last 100$ on my ps4 but the only reason id keep my ps3 was to play gta5 and continue to destroy T.L.O.U on Survivor plus.Also with the huge fan support of T.L.O.U r u guys planning on making a sequel?? Last of Us was absolutely amazing.. I cried.. I screamed.. I smiled. Just amazing. I only wish it would be re-released like Tomb Raider Definitive, or at least maybe in PSN form or something. I don’t know what would go into it and I’m sure it would be a lot but AH it would be freaking awesome. Such an awesome game deserves to be on better hardware that can truly let it’s greatness be truly enjoyed, where Ellie doesn’t look like she has Down’s syndrome during the game, and more advanced graphics.
Can’t wait to see where Drake’s bad luck takes him this time.
