Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster Coming to PS3 March 18th, 2014

We’re thrilled to announce that Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is coming to North America on March 18th, 2014. We also have a brand new trailer to show off.

But ladies and gentleman, the news doesn’t end there. We have completely updated the Limited Edition Packaging with this gorgeous HD render of Tidus and Yuna, which I just absolutely fell in love with when I first saw this image. We also updated the concept artbook with Yoshitaka Amano’s iconic image from Final Fantasy X and X-2. Why did we update it, you ask? It will all make sense later, I promise.

For those of you that didn’t know about this until now, you can still pre-order the game and receive a free upgrade to the Limited Edition with the exclusive concept artbook packaging, but quantity is very limited!

Final Fantasy X is near and dear to my heart. I played it for more than 180 hours, got through the entire sphere grid on all characters, and it made me feel so many different emotions like no game before. I also had a mad crush on Khimari.

I know everyone has stories to share, and I’d love to hear everyone’s memories about Final Fantasy X and X-2.

Regardless of whether or not info for the vita version is coming “soon”, the handling of information in general on the game has been simply horrible and increasingly frustrating. SE y’all really need to get your act together with this stuff and I’m not even just talking about the NA or EU branches, but SE as a whole. It’s almost seems like you intentionally kill your own hype for all of your games.

Hoping for Vita news soon! Not much on the RPG front since P4G. Would feel better if I could pre-order it anywhere at this point. Day 1 digital will work too. My Vita needs to dodge 100 bolts of lighting just to feel….

I am sad that the game is not coming this year. March feels like so far away… The cover art is beautiful though, and I’m very much looking forward to all of the updated visuals. I’ve had the game pre-ordered and paid off since August, so you have my word I’ll be getting it.

You guys should do a FFXIV tie in like Lightning Returns is doing right now. I’m sure plenty of female summoners would like to play dress-up as Yuna.

Please please please have cross-save for this game >_< I will need it when I try to get 100% completion on X and 100%+ on X-2. That artwork on the LE package is gorgeous! I saw this update two days ago and was so excited when the release date was out! Woohoo!

This game brought me to tears at the end of FFX and further gave me that nostalgic feeling when the secret ending of FFX-2 played…seems like forever ago. T o me this does not look like HD though, more of just a simple texture update with polygons still out of place. The CG was always impressive and I will always remember FF for its next gen look. Even to todays standard the CG lives up to the FF name but the overall gameplay still looks the same. Not that I have a huge problem with it and not that I’m completely unhappy, but the meager updates along with no additional content is going to be a hard buy had it not been for the Vita release. I hope this pushed back release date results in a more polished look because when I think FF now I still have the nostalgia I had for FFX but expect it to look along the lines up FFXIII/XIII-2. Maybe my expectations are a bit high but that would be going above and beyond in my book and definitely a plus! But I’m glad its coming out for the Vita so thanks.

I know you can’t share details on the Vita versions yet, but I have a request.

Please, pleaaaase, if the Vita versions get a retail release, please use the same cover as the PS3 version/Japanese Vita Twin Pack version.

That cover is just sublime.

I wanted to know, will the PS3 and Vita versions be on the same exact trophy list? So I do not have to start over when I am on the road. I would buy both versions day one if it is this way.

Finally a release date. I really hoping that the Vita version is not $40 a game, since it’s being sold separated. Feeling ripoff while I can get both on the PS3 for just 40 bucks. So if I want the PS3 version and Vita version, I’m going to have to shell out $120.

Now that we know SE lied about this game coming this year/holiday season, despite how much I want it and how good the limited version looks, I feel like I should not give SE any more money until they sort themselves out with the N/A side of things at least.

Witch and the hundred knights, infamous SS, Tales of symphonia HD and more all release within the same few weeks.

I’ve already cancelled my Lightning Returns pre order since you choose to delay this game so so much and put it into the worst game/rpg window possible.

Seriously………how about reading previous comments and replies before posting a question? vita vita vita…..details coming soon……vita version still coming…….I don’t see how Sakura Minamida is still holding on to sanity after having to reply the same thing over and over…….sorry….just got a lil bugged about that. thanks for the info and i can’t even describe how excited I am about the game…….its been far too long since ive played.

But, RETAIL release for PS Vita please. Especially since you’re making us wait. If you make us wait, then only do a digital localization (likely at full price), I will not be pleased.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the limited edition and the normal edition? I pre-ordered it a few days ago from amazon (back when it predicted the shipping date to be December 31st), which automatically upgrades it to a limited edition, right?

Well, is it the artbook that makes it different? I’m new to the gaming world. Pretty much the only game I played in my childhood was FFX and FFX-2 on the PS2. I’m finally upgrading to a PS3 in a couple days, so I’ll be expanding my games soon. ^^”

I can’t wait for this. My dad had this for the PS2 when I was a kid and it was his favorite game, and I’m going to get the limited edition for him. He really got me into the Final Fantasy series.

I feel bad for you Minamida… It would seem that SE has thrown you to the wolves. I know that news will come as soon as you are informed of said news and that you too are as excited as we are to see this game come to the palms of our hands so I won’t blame you at all or demand answers. But please for us fans, pass along word of how many players young and old are eagerly awaiting release on PS3 and PS Vita. I personally bought my vita mainly for this game. I feel that both SE and Sony underestimated the number of people that want this wonderful title on the PS vita more than their PS3. I have been following this game since it announcement of a vita release and am eagerly waiting to play and often update it’s status on my blog. I hope for news soon and from one Final Fantasy fan to all the others, I will pay 40 or even 60 for a Vita release of Final Fantasy XII. Thank you again for not getting frustrated with all of us crazy American otaku who want to play this on our Vita!

Also thank you for the release date at last. And to SE… I know that you have created a quality control committee and that in the first fiscal quarter, you posted a 1.6 billion yen loss and I just wanted to comment on that. THIS is why… localization in 2013 on a game that all voice recordings and all animation are finished shouldn’t take 4 months. Nor should it take longer on the PS Vita considering that the Japanese version is getting a side by side release. People are really excited about playing this game on their Vita and when you openly delay game after game, people lose interest. I am still excited to play this game but the deep push into 2014 from late 2013 has severely damped it. Please don’t give us a Kingdom Hearts 3 release date until you ABSOLUTELY know when it will be released. It isn’t bad that these games take forever… it’s that you keep breaking promises and timelines that drives us faithful customers away. So if you want my money… give 1 release date… not 4 of 5.

P.S. I can’t help but feel that this is being pushed back to not conflict with Bravely Default. Just sayin…

I know that apparently this disc is going to have International content.

I’m a HUGE fan of FFX, and I -will- get my hands on this somehow, However, I am really worried because, overall, I wouldn’t qualify myself as a ‘hardcore’ gamer (really old-schooled here…) and I’ve actually failed to finish the international version of this game (granted, I couldn’t restart because my disc malfunctioned, and then shortly afterwards I tried to ‘quit gaming’ so to speak) …and it wasn’t until a decade later that I picked it up again (NA version– I didn’t know, I just did because I saw it available second hand for a good price) and finally finished the game.

I just want to clarify whether the International content is at all optional? As in, maybe I could turn it off the in the beginning or something?

Maybe I’m just being too nervous about the difficulty… but from what I remember, those (minor spoilers) dark aeons were just impossible to bypass, making it nearly impossible to backtrack for anything in the game.

Honestly… the lack of news for the vita version is… troubling. I can go on square-enixs web site and pre-order drakengard 3 which has a 12/31/14 place holder date(actually releasing in winter 2016 lol) but im not even aloud to pre-order ffx for vita… something is fishy here and theres a part of me that thinks this could be wonderful for reasons I dare not speak or horrible because they are terrified to tell us its canned. Either way that news that has been comin soon since e3… still isn’t here and my money thats saved for pre-ordering this game is wanting to be spent on a non – square-enix product. Hurry up… im not joking.

I know you guys are being bum-rushed with Vita questions.
But I would like to know, if we buy the games for the Vita, I heard that we have to buy them separately.

Is there gonna be some kind of deal if we buy them both?
Will we have the option to buy the downloadable version as well?
Is the box set for this one for the PS3?
Will we get any kind of dlc at least for the game?
You know where I’m going with these questions, but I hope someone answers them, even if it’s a
‘We’ll update you later.’

I just bought a Vita, and I’m loving the games I have on it, but more rpg’s will absolutely be loved.
Plus, my PS3 is on its last few Gigabytes. D’:
Watch Dogs are already going to be pushing it. And I had to delete a lot of content from my ps3.

And sad to say, I’m gonna have to get South Park for Xbox b/c of this.

This would have so much potential if it was coming out for ps4. I’m confused as to why you would release the game in HD for an outdated console. The environments in this game on ps4 would be absolutely stunning. I’m assuming this game will be in 720p?

Well here we are almost a month later and not even a murmur… not surprising. If the new year hits and no vita news is given… I may not purchase the game. If the vita date is more than a month after the PS3 version, then I will NOT purchase the PS3 version due to the fact that cross save will be irrelevant because I would have almost beat the game by then. News please. A month is not soon. It’s quite a while longer than soon…

I’m upset that we were first led to think we were getting it this winter. Now I gotta get used to the fact that it won’t be out untill 2 days before spring? And god nows how long iys going to take to get the PS Vita version. Talk about a crappy situation. You developers must not be putting the time to make this happen.

Many thanks to Sakura Minamida for being so good at answering all the questions we all have on this game! Especially being patient with answering the millions of “Where’s the Vita release date” questions. For myself as well I will be buying this on the Vita and Vita alone. I have a few questions I’m hoping you can answer. Do you know if the Vita version will have a Limited Edition version like the PS3? Also I know the PS4 will be getting PS3 game usage via digital download at a later time. Do you know if this game will be available to download the PS3 version for play on our PS4’s? Lastly I was wondering if the Japanese PS Vita release will have an english option in the menu? Thanks again
