Later today, the next system software update for PlayStation 4 (version 1.51) will be available. With this minor required update, stability of system software has been improved. In addition, minor refinements to elements of the system UI (such as clearly indicating when a user downloads a game and a game patch at the same time) have been introduced.
In the North American region, automatic downloads for system and game updates are enabled by default when PS4 is in stand-by mode. Once system software update 1.51 is available later tonight, your PS4 will automatically download it, enabling you to update quickly and easily.
Thank you for specifying a date instead of the coming soon, which most people understood to be later that same day. Now you spell it out and there is no misunderstanding on when the firmware will hit.
Standby mode on my PS4 does nothing. My PS4 might as well completely shut down. Nothing updates or patches while in standby mode. I’m sitting here typing this as my PS4 downloads this update, eating away at time I wish I was spending gaming.
The most major thing i found is this. 1) i cant stream my movies from computer to my pc anymore. That was sigle handily the biggest update i would like to see. 2) use my own picture as my avatar instead of something that was made for ten year olds. 3) plug in my usb and be able to watch movies. So if i go to a friends, and we get bord of senseless killing, (Well not senseless, needed) but if we get tiered we can watch a movie i brought from home on my usb. These are my biggest updates i would really like to see on the ps4. Everything else is a bonus.

Can’t come fast enough, PS4 froze for the first time playing Knack last night.
The one thing i would most like in a future update is being able to share footage to youtube (not just facebook) and being able to copy footage onto a usb drive.

It you have it in Standby mode, it will download the install for you.
However, you have to install it when you logon and I’m pretty sure the reason for this, is that you must accept or not accept the blurb that Sony and their lawyers put out.
I don’t think you want to bypass this, as if there is a future update has something you don’t wish to accept and it works the way you’re now asking, you may be upset and you won’t be able to go back.
Not sure if you remember the linux feature that was removed from the PS3 a while back, many people opted out of the agreement and couldn’t sign online to PSN unless they agreed to that statement.
Please include the ability to mute the microphone on the PS4 Camera. Thanks!

can you please work on patching in other headset devices besides the one that comes packed with the PS4. my blue tooth headset that i used on PS3 wont connect and my Pulse headset is “not supported”.

I’ve been taking advantage of the Twitch streaming and love it, but am disappointed that when I play a 2 player game (like Knack) I can’t either expand the viewing window so the camera can see both me and my girlfriend – or better yet – use the individual cameras on the PS camera to give us individual boxes! There is a lot of empty space on the right side of the screen, any idea if they’re thinking about implementing more camera control options for streaming?

i’d like to see media support, notifacations when a friend signs on or goes offine, and to see the last time my friends were online. PShome would be nice to but not a big deal at this point. still having to much fun playing my games :)

1) Notify when a friend comes online (Offline not really important)
2) Customization themes like the PS3? Or even simply changing the blue background to different colors. I know it may be easier said than done, but it would be nice. Please
3) Resolve issues with sharing. Errors occur frequently.
4) Being able to trim videos you want to share without closing an application.
5) Being able to join a friends party without having to be invited. That’s an important one!

Currently on the Sony page it states
“System software stability during use of some features has been improved.”
Many times when an update goes live, it will take a couple of days to get the entire list of features that changed updated.
Check back later in the week and I’m sure it will advise what exactly was modified.

Its ridiculous that I had to drop another 150 on turtle beach garbage PX4 headsets to chat with game audio when I have a pulse elite Sony headset collecting dust. Yes if anyone is wondering the TB PX4’s work but you have to run a cord to the controller.
I have a Sony Bluetooth headset (DR-BT50) that will not work with my Sony Playstation 4. Why? Everything in my game room is Sony even the TV and the DVD player, so why can I not use my Sony headset with my PS4? FAQ says that 3rd party Bluetooth headsets will not work with the PS4, but my headset is not a 3rd party, it’s made by Sony. Please add the required profile needed to pair my DR-BT50 to PS4.

This update definitely changed the stability of my system. Went from no problems before 1.51 to having the system hard lock twice in the middle of a game. :(

I like the PS4 just certain issues that need to be fixed. When you talk on the mic you hear yourself at times which is annoying. And also the battery life for the DS4 is terrible any ways on how to fix it or to get better battery life.
Also I noticed that in standby mode the PS4 is still running doesnt that mean its better to always turn off the system when we stop playing. It makes me worried if I left it always in standby that the console would overheat.
Hey, does anyone else get stuck at 72% and then get the error code: SU-30631-3? I’m curious if I’m the only one. It only happened during the update to 1.51.
Another suggestion I have, would be to include the DS4’s battery bar into the UI near the clock similar to a cell phone. While it is helpful that the battery icon is shown when the console first boots up, I think it would be a nice feature to have a permanent battery icon on the UI instead of having to press the PS button to check the battery status.
would be nice to see a patch for sony branded blue tooth headphones. Or at least a sony brand of headphones that work with the ps4.

I know its super minor, but I’d really, really, really, really love to have the option for custom wallpaper back. With 2 friends who use my system when they visit it makes each of our log ins obvious what account is being used. Yeah we now have to select the name in the beginning, but our short attention spans want pictures :D

great work people!!! but I would like to be able to use my wireless headset when I play online because the little headset that comes with the ps4 is pretty bad, I keep hearing my echo on it. please sony consider letting us use our beloved wireless headsets, and please reconsider letting use our own music and photos and not be required to pay for the music unlimited/ video unlimited app (even though it is great). Don’t be greedy Sony.

I prefer not to automatically sign in to PSN everytime my console is turned on. But when I do sign on I like it to be quick and smooth, like on PS3 all it takes is two button presses, if your password is saved, to sign on to the PSN.”
I totally agree with this. I do NOT like to be automatically logged online. Most my time is spent playing offline and I was confused as to why this was not an option to set.
Great work guys. New system is great and could be the greatest system ever as long as what was gained with the PS3 is included in the PS4 and built upon.
1. We need DLNA.
2. The system needs to be able to read USB Flash Drives and external harddrives ( even if you cant save to it).
3. MP3 support as well as CDs.
4. Support for photos please.
5. Everything the PS3 could do….the PS4 should be able to do, just better!
These are just a few but what i consider to be the most important. These should
be the foundation for the next main update. Add these and there wil be no question as to what the best system on the market is!
Please sony! Ive both a PS3 and a new PS4 but i still use my PS3 90% of the time because all of my friends are still on PS3 and plus….because i love my PS3. The PS4 so far is strictly for gaming by myself and to look at!

I was Remote Playing my PS4 with my Vita when the update went live. I actually updated my PS4 remotely via manul Vita input. Some might think that risky but it actually went off like clockwork.

I just did the update and now my system doesn’t show a picture. Just a black screen with the sounds. I can even start a game, and hear the game, but no picture.
Was able to download the new update but when I play nba 2k14 with the dolby digital sound during a game the sound still goes glitchy and starts skipping. The game doesn’t freeze or skip it keeps playing but the sound goes crazy. I only have one game on ps4 right now so I don’t know if it’s something wrong with nba 2k14 or the system. Is this happening to anyone else?
