Free PS Mobile Games for the Holidays

Jamaal Moore's Avatar Posted by Brand Marketing Manager of Emerging Platforms, SCEA

The end of the year is almost here, and we’re in a festive mood. Starting today, we will be giving away 10 free games (two each week for five weeks) to all PS Mobile gamers.

Between November 27th and December 18th of 2013, and then from January 8th through January 22nd of 2014, you can download two PS Mobile games to play on your PlayStation Certified smartphone, tablet, or PS Vita for free!

PS Mobile Festive Giveaway

Every week, during the promotional period, we will announce which two games will be free on PlayStation.Blog. Keep checking back with us over the holiday season to find out what the next games in the Festive Giveaway will be.

The first two games, available later today, will be Passing Time and Rymdkapsel.

Passing Time by Honeyslug

Passing Time is a touch controlled football game from the developer behind Frobisher Says! on the PS Vita. Pass the ball and burn the opposition with a blistering fireball, prove your slow motion skills by mastering the rock ball and show off your one touch finesse with the explosive bomb ball.

Rymdkapsel by Martin Jonasson

Rymdkapsel is a relaxing, meditative strategy game set in the depths of space. It builds upon the legacy of Martin’s earlier games by requiring minimal user input, while needing highly strategic thinking to progress. You’re tasked with building the best possible space station by commanding your minions to collect and utilize the different resources at your disposal.

By my calculations, it looks like 7 weeks (instead of 5 as listed above). Is it 14 games or is it 10 games with some duplicated?

Woohoo! I had already picked up Passing Time earlier this year, and meant to grab Rymdkapsel but never got around to it, so thanks saving me a few bucks!

Wow, 10 free games! I feel like it’s Christmas and Santa has just came down the chimney and he’s going to do it for 5 weeks in a row! So this is what it’s like to be a kid again.

Although I’ve been disappointed in the sales we’ve been offered for the Vita for the last couple of months, I have to say Sony always seems to turn around and do something good to help make up for it. This goes a long way in helping.

Thank you for the games and happy holidays!

You guys, these are the two of the best games on PS Mobile. I own both of them, so while it’s a bit of a bummer that I’m not getting anything for free, I’m still super happy more people will play these games. I’d love to see Passing Time come to mobile proper though. It’d be super fun to have on my Moto X when I don’t have my Vita with me. Shared saves, too, would be more incredible still.

Stranger_Eddie – I emailed the developer of Aqua Kitty and got an answer.

Hi – its a legacy issue I am afraid, to do with us being a launch title before the system was finalised.
There is no DLC planned for the game, apologies for any confusion.

I hope that helps you.

And I’m just sitting here, missing out on the festivities, ’cause I don’t have a Vita yet and don’t use Android devices. Maybe I could nab one of my folks’ phones and pick these up that’a way.

Rymdkapsel is probably my favorite phone game of all time, the only contender is Infinity Blade. I’m sure the soccer game will be great, because I remember seeing the trailer for it and saying this is gonna be good. Went to download it on my S2 and the Playstation Mobile app doesn’t work. Sony is losing a lot of money because they don’t know how to optimize.

Kchow23 said:

Passing Time is pretty awesome! Hoping that PS Mobile makes it to iOS or at least we finally get trophies.

Gamerzlimited said:

I can play these on the Vita too? That’s awesome! I just got my Vita this week, can’t wait to try them!

@OutOfMyWay54 They’re mobile games, you idiot. What do you expect? Call of Duty on cell phones?

sorry for this off topic post but I saw in my trophy stuff that terraria is listed as both ps3 and psvita is this a total mistake or did someone jump the gun an we’ll see terraria vita soon ?

I cant find the vita version in ps store so just curious . Thank you

OMG…. you did say free? right?

I checked it out yesterday and for some reason the price was listed, then come back to see what some of the bloggers thought of Ys Celceta, (of course hearing nothing more usually than, “I got money”.)

And browse through the other articles, which in past times have been infamous for overlooking and low and behold.

Rymdkapsel had caught my eye earlier, putting the thought that a game design would / could take serious work.
Just could not see paying the money needed on a chance, that this had been the case.

(I remember just trying to get a chimney to puff smoke just right on Dos (9th grade, for a holiday greeting)

Thank You,
for allowing me the opportunity to try it out. As I grew up from Atari/Coleco.
*Now if I just had grandparents / parents and a Huge Turkey, it might just be a memorable Holiday.*

@Gamerzlimited

Just wanted to say Thank You for thinking I was not credible enough to listen to
(back when I commented on the LBP celebration (not being free for a couple add ons).

Especially after listening to the few things you comment on which is, usually, about your enormous Sony wallet.

You obviously have no idea what the “common man” feels.

If he wants free games, he should possibly get them, because chances are you were given generosity either in the pay you receive from your job, or the charity received from your family.

At least his opinions are probably more accurate, and true, then a lot of the SMOKE being blown up our arses with a lot of words / code.

There once again is a HUGE difference in being pretentious, and having dignity.
*But free is free, sometimes you have to sift through the coal to find diamonds.* Why argue about it?

And once again if you think I am doing the same its because why should you have all the fun in not listening to rules about “not being a jerk”.

Rezolution77 said:

And Call of Duty on Cell phones !!!!!!?????

Umm… what the #$%$^ is Declassified on the Vita comparable to.

Elvick_ said:

November 27th, 11:08 pm

Thank you! I stopped buying these, because I found I wasn’t playing them enough to justify it. So hopefully they’re are some of the newer ones. I have one of these, but hey, it’s okay. Free~

I think, as much as it pains me, I’d play them more if they had trophies. I like my PSN account to reflect what I’ve been playing, and trophies do that. There’s no other way to see what I’m playing, especially since PS Mobile games don’t have any livearea features on Vita.

Can the SEN store be updated to include the Playstation Mobile? I do not always have my Vita with me to be able to take advantage of these special deals. Please consider it!

Can anyone tell me where i can find the pictures they took at SF ps4 Launch Event? greatnessawaits.com isn’t really helpful since it updates constantly and its been a few weeks since the launch event i SF.
If anyone has knowledge of photo albums and such please let me know. I know i was in a couple of good ones :P.
Especially when we were downstairs gaming.

For those of us that don’t have Vitas right now, can we buy these (add them to our account, if you prefer) now and download them later? I looked for a Mobile section in the Web-based store and didn’t find one, nor did a search turn them up. If not, where can we request this feature?

Rezolution77 said:

November 29th, 8:15 am

I must say, Rymdkapsul has definately resparked a love of what used to be Tetris.
(I stayed up till four am)

It is definately a Great Addition to the mobile genre of gaming,
and would not have been dissatisfied with the purchase.

You should not only offer it for free this week, but in the following weeks to come.
Especially, after those that have made mobile purchases and will not recieve them untill Christmas.

I wanted to Thank You, for an actual free game worth having.

Just give it a thought, if you have not done so already.

CrispyCanuk said:

November 29th, 10:45 am

Rymdkasul is pretty fun, although I wish there was a “free-mode”, picked it up on my vita when it launched. Also that football game is a lot less boring than actual football…for the price of free I’ll take it. THANKS! Looking forward to the rest!

@Rezolution77 Since you remembered me calling you one of my top 10 trolls, I forgot to mention you are very low on that list. At least you aren’t annoying and still appreciate Sony for their offerings. I’ll respect you for that.

If the mobile games are free which they are, then that idiot needs to learn to appreciate them. It pisses me off that he never played the games before and decided to judge them by the pictures.

Umm, Call of Duty for the N-Gage? Doesn’t that count as one?
