IGN for PlayStation App Out Today on PS4

IGN App for PS4

Greetings once again, PlayStation.Blog! My name’s Colin, IGN’s Senior Editor. You may have seen me skulking around IGN PlayStation and making terrible predictions on Podcast Beyond, but today, I’m not here to make any pizza bets with you. No, I’m here to tell you about something exciting we’ve cooked up for PS4 owners.

IGN for PlayStation, our new app for PS4, is available today, and I’m pleased to tell you that you can download it for yourself — free of charge — when PlayStation Store updates. The app is currently exclusive to PS4, and will come to PS3 and PS Vita next year.

How does this benefit you, exactly? IGN’s PS4 app will make you more popular with your friends, give you more energy, and even make the food you eat taste better (that’s not true). But more importantly, our PS4 app will give you direct access to all of IGN’s video content, letting you create custom playlists, while finding and consuming the exact content you’re seeking.

What’s truly cool about the app, however, is how granular you can get with it. You can rapidly come in and out of full-screen view, minimize a video and let it run in the corner while you keep on browsing, and skip unwanted content with a press of R1. Whether you’re looking for a preview, a review, some help with a game, or just a totally inane conversation about nothing at all, IGN’s PS4 app is here to make your gaming life better.

So head over to PlayStation Store to download the app, and let me know what you think.

‘Til next time, my friends. Beyond!

The IGN App for PS4 can be found in the TV & Video section of PS4’s home screen, or in the App section of PlayStation Store.

  • I want a Machinima and Youtube app too, please and thank you. I hope the Youtube app lets us upload videos like boogie on youtube wants it to have, i hope thats why it wasnt out at launch because they are including that feature.

  • Beyond, now the blogcast has to step up.

  • How do you start this app??? It has a lock icon by the Start box, and when I attempt to start it anyway, I get the message “Cannot start the application. This application can be started only by a user who has a license for it.”

  • I’m not a huge IGN review fan, but this app is awesome. I love the access to all of the videos through search and all the movie trailers. The only thing it needs is access to the wikis, faqs, and maps.

  • Love the app and the upcoming VITA release!

  • Great job now I can get my Naomi Kyle Fix ^_^ on the big screen. I’m liking the direction the PS4 is headed. I look forward to the day that I can access some of the customization features the PS3 had. My home screen is looking very bland and it’s driving me absolutely nuts.

  • Glad the app is coming to the Vita too.
    BEYOND!

  • Got a chance to play around w/this today. Super easy to watch videos & scroll through the content instant videos clear resolution. Great site great app on the fastest selling system of all time haha.

congrats btw on that. now let’s just get some more content coming our way.

  • so PS4 users get IGN and PS3 owners get nothing but a crappy internet browser for IGN wtf. this app looks so simple it probably runs on 10mb of ram i dont see why a PS3 app couldnt be implemented when I have been waiting for IGN to come to PS3 since they released a XBOX 360 APP but a PS3 app will never happen now and now my heart and soul has been flushed down the toilet again.

  • I love IGN, but i ain’t going to lie.. this app needs some work. And severely needs a back button!!

  • I downloaded the IGN app to my ps4 and it says that i cant open the app because i’m not a licensed user?
What the hell does that mean? The app has a locked symbol next to it as well.
