Thanks to You, PlayStation 4 Just Made History

It’s been a historic first month for PlayStation 4 and the feedback we’re receiving from PlayStation fans around the world has been nothing short of amazing.

It’s now clear that the launch of PS4 is one for the record books. This afternoon we learned from market research firm NPD Group that PS4 was the top-selling console for November and PlayStation was #1 in sales overall for home consoles. This news comes on the heels of yesterday’s confirmation that the PS4 launch is the biggest ever in the history of game consoles. Ever! And it’s all thanks to you.

We’re also seeing gamers embrace the social capabilities of PS4 at a record pace. Earlier this week, we announced that hundreds of thousands of gamers are using the PS4’s integrated streaming capabilities. Nearly 800,000 gameplay broadcasts and more than 7.1 million spectate sessions have streamed through Twitch and Ustream, totaling more than 20 million minutes of live gameplay.

We’re extremely proud to have such a passionate community and are grateful for your support. Thanks for an unforgettable PS4 launch and for making 2013 such a historic year for gaming. We look forward to sharing exciting PS4 news in the near future.

  • yeah yeah great for sony and all that welldone, now to the moaning part its a disgrace all these scummy little robbing bast#*ds that buy a ps4 console just to make profit for there filthy little hands and ruin it for hardcore gamers like me that love playstation 1,2,3 that cant wait to get a ps4 SHAME ON U GREEDY ARSES OUT THERE that have ruined xmas for a **** load off people. ps sony still rock just ask microsoft how much

  • I’m looking forward to opening mine up for Christmas and playing for the first time. Ps4 is selling very well, so we’ll that some stores don’t even have a display for it yet. Looking forward to infamous second son, I’m a big infamous fan since it’s release.

  • I got my ps4 at the NYC spike tv midnight launch and got to meet Jack Tretton, who was super cool bringing attention to my eagles jersey to everyone on the line in the middle of manhattan. I’ve been addicted to Resogun since I got pulled off line to demo it, so much so I bought a Vita so I can connue to play at the laundromat waiting for my stuff to dry. I been mashing triangles and squares on Playstation PS2 PSP PS3 and I can’t wait to bring the greatness on PS4/VITA! (Nows time for a MAG reboot on PS4!!!!!! IMAGINE THE CAPABILITIES!)

  • Wish I could get one. I had the money for it but NO ONE had any… now that I’m done with my xmas shopping my PS money is gone. Oh well, maybe next christmas. Seriously Sony… SHIP MORE UNITS!!

  • Congrats Sony !

    Very well deserved.

Got my PS4 at launch as well.

Keep up the great work and hoping to see updates in the near future for options that will make the PS4 an even better console !

  • I love my PS4 and my Xbox 1, I use the PS4 a lot more though. I do have one major complaint, not having the ability to play 3d movies at launch is unforgivable, I don’t feel like holding onto my ps3 for a long time just so I can watch movies. Hopefully the reverse compatibility of digital games is going to be available in January like the Sony rep told me. I’m looking forward to being able to play D3 and GTA 5,without having to buy them again. That was the sole reason I purchased the PS4 at launch. Failure to deliver would lean my loyalty towards Microsoft more.

  • Got my PS4 the night of launch! I couldn’t wait till 12:01 AM hit! I stayed up till 2 am that morning, and made school just in time:)

  • woot woot, got mine launch day, it’s the only console in my home and the only one I need, take that xbox XD

  • TAKE DAT XBOX

  • IN YO FACE

  • Really disappointed with ps4. Purchased this console as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old son. the game will not work. contacted support and they say the game is corrupted and I need to send the game in. Why do I have to send a brand new $400 game to sony and it hasn’t been played once? CSR represented stated we needed to download the game within 24 hours of purchase. this is a Christmas gift why would I open before my child opens it and why wasn’t i told this in advance. this really sucks its Christmas and my kid has saddest face. way to to go sony!

  • One million! I guess that explains why it’s taking FOREVER to sign in to PSN on Christmas Day.

  • I was lucky enough to get my hands on one a few weeks ago and love it but not happy at all that it doesn’t support 3d blu-rays. Are we going backwards now?

  • I’ve got money in and and went to 25 stores today and nothing in stock.. Why would Sony want to end 2013 with no stock? I assume they want to make money?
