It’s almost time for the New Year, and we’re ready to kick-off 2014 in a big way. January’s Instant Game Collection will offer PlayStation Plus members loads of amazing titles, starting off with a new PlayStation 4 title — Don’t Starve. A wilderness survival game wrapped in a cute art style, you’ll take control of a Gentleman Scientist trying to make his way home from a mysterious place. Be warned – this is one of those games where you’ll die a lot, but if you ever get frustrated, just look at how cute your buddy Chester is and I’m sure everything will be okay.
For PlayStation 3 owners, you’ll be able to download three critically acclaimed games – DMC Devil May Cry, BioShock Infinite and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. DMC Devil May Cry is a reboot of the beloved franchise, and while Dante may have received a haircut and a new backstory, his weapons and fighting style should be fairly familiar to fans.

Created by the same folks who brought us BioShock, BioShock Infinite has received multiple Game of the Year nominations. This isn’t your average first-person shooter, you’ll gather vigors throughout your journey that will fling your enemies sky-high or unleash a horde of birds to peck at your foes.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons tugs at your heartstrings as you take control of two brothers (who would’ve guessed?), trying to cure their ailing father. You’ll be handling the sons with each analog stick, so once you get the hang of controlling two characters at once, you’ll need to solve various puzzles in order to save the day.
This month PlayStation Vita owners will be able to download Worms: Battle Island and Smart As. Worms: Battle Island stays true to the classic Worms formula of charming turn-based strategy gameplay. You can customize your wormy soldiers and use crazy weapons to take out the opposition.
Finally, Smart As will become your brain’s new best friend. Run through a series of mind-boggling challenges, and see where you stack up against your friends and other people in the world on the leaderboards. If you practice every day, maybe one day you’ll hit the top.

LOL modern AAA games are garbage. Turn based JRPGs are dead on consoles, and these days these crappy AAA games are considered good even when they’re super linear, full of gimmick set pieces, gimmick in game scripted events that restrict control from the player, etc. I am for games that give control to the player, not take away. Keep games off rails. Video games are supposed to be video games and not interactive movies.
I grew up with NES and SNES. I know what video games are supposed to be like. FPS came later and were a very unwelcome addition to gaming. Sure, some of the classics are good but modern ones are so horrid. I only like good games, which is why I do not like modern shooters.

im waiting for dont starve .. :) ..i think in the future sony should make the ps4 able or capable to run digital ps 3 games ..there are many ps 3 games to play yet and i dont have room for 2 conoles at home.

I really like the line-up, but the PS3 has been getting all the goodies lately. KH 2.5,Naruto Storm Revolution, and a lot of other games are going to be exclusive on the previous gen consoles…Why? Millions of us dropped $400 on Next Gen Consoles to experience and receive new and improved video games.This is why all of us were happy when the first PS3s were backward compatible. It would be convenient to have more games coming to the PS4 via PSPlus, since we all have to pay for it to go multiplayer already. The Vita is also going slow-paced on PSplus games, something like COD : Declassified next month for the vita would be amazing.

Can anyone tell me what day the PSN Store updates? Because it’s January… and as for the people complaining about PS4 only getting one game this month it just came out! What are you expecting to get KSF or Knack this month?? Show some courtesy that you’re getting something at all. No one forced you to buy the game when you knew pretty well that there wasn’t a huge game collection to begin with. The ps4 only has a grand total of 11 games (all I can think of) so if you’re expecting AAA titles don’t expect any till Q1 or Q2 of video game highlights
I understand PS4 offerings will be a little scarce until the library beefs up a bit, but it wouldn’t kill Sony to try and chat with the devs to see if they can get us some of those E3 demos.
Great lineup! Looking forward to Don’t Starve, and heard great things about Brothers. Vita lineup is kind of weak but I’ll give em a try. These will be free starting Jan. 7 right with the PS Store update right?
@C4m3r0nPfand: If Sony keeps things the way they are now, they won’t all be made available at once. The games are released one (maybe 2 depending on the number of Tuesdays in a month) per week. Announced on Mondays, available to download for free on Tuesdays. Time of day varies. But yes, the first 1-2 of these should arrive Jan. 7.

I got a PS4 for Christmas, thanks to my awesome wife. Honestly, I’m most excited about ps+. Since I have to have it to play online, I’m now a plus subscriber. Before I couldn’t justify the purchase, but now that I have to have it… The only problem is there are so many great games coming on PS3, I’m still playing that a lot as well!

great job plus team..i have been a member for almost a year and you do a great job every month .I will renew it this year too….and I have a psp and love that I get games for that every now and then. my plans are to get a vita this year but you can keep those psp games coming to my kids like them…………you know you really cant beat the price $5 a month you cant get any games good or bad for that kind of money…….playstation plus your awesome keep up the great job…….thanks

When does this update come through? I’m not seeing some of these titles on my Vita or my PS3. I still see most of last months titles, except of course the one I want…soul sacrifice. When i search for the game it still tells me it’s a free game for Plus members, but it’s trying to charge full price for it.
Then of course, like i said, I’m not seeing Brothers, Bioshock, DMC, or Smart As for my Vita.

It’s January 2014 and I can’t download DMC Devil May Cry, Bioshock, or any other game for playstation plus members. Does anyone know the date that one of these games will be available.
To everyone wondering about when the January games are going to be available, a new games is available every Tuesday with the update of the store. The first January game will be available on the 7th, and you will find out what it is on the 6th.

Didn’t want to Buy Bioshock Infinite although the PS Plus sale was great, but didn’t want the game.

My hopes would be, that I love buying and supporting games.
But if you are going to put a ps plus sale on anything else. Make sure they are actually good games.
Better yet, try finding a way to allow us to purchase games that are in IGC when they go on sale.

ill admit their was alot of misses on last years plus line up but it wasnt all bad, they were some great games on there as well. everybody has their own taste in games so its gonna be hard for the company to give everyone what they want. im very impressed with the line up for january (not gonna lie did look to see if i accidentally went into Europe’s list.lol) but i have alot of faith in the sony brand and am sure as people leaves ideas for them they’ll do their best to make it happen.
