The next system software update for PlayStation 4 (version 1.60) will be available for download beginning late tonight, bringing support for the PULSE and PULSE – Elite Edition wireless stereo headsets to PS4. We know you’ve been patiently waiting for this update, which means PS4 owners will now be able to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience with 7.1 virtual surround sound and crystal clear voice chat with our official PlayStation headsets. PlayStation headsets are created for PlayStation gamers, by gamers – and designed to truly provide the audio that game developers intended. It’s truly how games were meant to sound.
I’m also excited to introduce the newest member of our headset lineup – the Gold Wireless Headset, which launches early this month. This new headset offers 7.1 virtual surround sound, custom audio modes created by developers specifically for PlayStation games, a hidden noise cancelling microphone for voice chat while playing online, customizable faceplates, and other features –all for $99.99 (MSRP).

My Pulse headsets weren’t working, here is what I did to fix it.
Make sure you go to settings > audio and make it so all audio and not just chat is being sent.
Next, and this is the dumb part, make sure your voice/sound control on the front of your left speaker (opposite the volume control) isn’t all the way on voice. It has to be at least halfway to get good sound. Then you can use the actual volume control slider.
So Voice AND Volume options have to be up. Voice/Sound CAN’T be all on voice or else it wont work at all.
Hope that helps for anyone who is having the same problem.

This is great and all, but what happened to supporting all bluetooth headsets? I’ll sound like a broken record, but I have to reiterate what a lot are saying, please bring back DLNA. Not only was my PS3 my game box it was also my entertainment hub. Now I either have to use a DLNA broadcaster app. from my mobile on XBox One, or have Plex Media server running and access it via PS4’s browser. None of which are ideal by any means.
Also is a YouTube app in the works? And not the mobile version wrapped in a PS4 app layer (m.youtube.com), an actual dedicated application. And last but far from least, the main menu UI desperately needs some type of folder/group management; it’s becoming very cluttered. Also (and there may be a setting for this I’m missing) but the constant rearranging of the menu based on last use, only adds to the confusion. Is there or will there be a way to change the sort order?
I understand that is a lot, I love the PS4; and hope we can see these updates or something relevant soon.

BE SURE YOU GO TO YOUR SOUND SETTING AND OUTPUT TO YOUR HEADPHONES. (or it won’t work).
I have a Logitech G35 USB Headset with 7.1 Surround sound, yet this patch which supposedly implements 7.1 surround sound support, still doesn’t fix my headset registering with my PS4 system. What’s the deal here?

I did read the post, I understand that it’s aimed at people with the Pulse headsets. I just don’t understand why this doesn’t include a fix for all across the board. I’m guessing the only way to experience 7.1 surround sound is through their own brand of headset then?
You should have used FABRIC pads not that horrible faux leather that makes ears sweaty.

Im glad to see that the update roadmap is back up to speed! Cant wait to see more featrues coming our way!I have a question though, is there any plan to launch a hotfix for the auto-ejecting issue anytime soon? Ive been unable to run my bluray games for more than a month now, and at the forums, the word is that replacement units are not solving the issue. Hope you guys can figure out what is happening soon and fit a fix on the pipeline for the upcoming releases quickly! =)

So will this update mean that my turtle beach PX5’s will finally have microphone support on my PS4 without having to buy that adapter cable on turtle beach.com? I wish you would make a cable that I could buy in a store.

With this headset, will we still have to plug it in to the controller to use chat or does all of the functions work with just the dongle plugged into the PS4?

you can make an update for some headphones but not the features actually want or that would make the blu rays play correctly ? nice to see the priorities are correct, we have already spent the money you just want more instead of making the initial thing we bought work!!!
This is awesome! I’ve been using some cheap pc headset …. Playing FPS you need a good headset, No IFS, ANDS or BUTS.
I think the headset is more important then the blu ray, imo… I have had no issues with it.. though, I think I may still be using the ps3 for the blue rays.. ( why work the 4 for nothing ) But if you dont have a ps3 or blu ray, and love watching them, then I guess yes, that would suck to still have the issue. ..
Will we be able to listen to music or other audio via the 3.5mm jack while we are listening to game audio? I ask because I use Skype while gaming, and I could pipe Skype audio through the headset while using the headset mic for chat and the mic on my phone or PC for Skype. Tell me that works and I’ll pre-order today.
SWEETNESS! !! they’re only $100 I’m glad to hear that I thought they were going to be 130! and my FLIPS were going to be the last headset I was going to buy that were above $100 them being 120 because of the speaker mode…but I can’t talk through them! But this is great news I am definitely going to pick these up because of their versatility, price point, and compatible look with the console Plus this will be my first strictly gaming headset ever!!!!! =D

Is it possible for Sony to release a road map showing support for Bluetooth headset profile? The community is clearly demanding this feature and a lot of unnecessary angst is generated by the lack of communication on this topic.
Which UK retailers will be stocking these and when are they available ? They look really nice , I’d buy these on looks alone ! doubt they’ll hold a candle to the Astro A50’s sound wise but there less than half price, so that’s obvious :) definitely want them day one, even if I just end up using them on the vita :) just need to find a retailer in the uk to buy them ?
