Blacklight: Retribution

Zombie has been getting a lot of questions about when the next patch hits for the Blacklight: Retribution PS4 beta, and what will be in it. We’re happy to announce that the first content patch for Blacklight: Retribution on PS4 will go live today, Thursday February 27th. This patch includes too many things to list here, so we’ll stick to the really, really good stuff – the first of which is the introduction of our cooperative game mode: Onslaught!

Onslaught Game Mode

Onslaught pits four Blacklight Agents against an endless horde of infected. Players will have to strategize and cooperate when building their loadouts in order to complete the challenges of Onslaught as a team.

Each wave and enemy type will force you to adapt as the threat changes. If you bank too heavily on fortifying one area, you might find yourself overrun. But if you remain too light and mobile, you may not have the heavy firepower you need to punch through what comes next. Rely on your wits and gear to see you through it. Those who find a way to succeed will be rewarded for their efforts!

New Multiplayer Maps!

Decay and Metro are both included for you to play on!

Metro is set in an abandoned subway station long since taken over by squatters. Players will face fierce firefights in the narrow corridors. Only teams who find a way to exploit open avenues of attack can succeed here. Watch your flanks, and make sure you know which way the threat is coming.

Decay is a slum fortress set deep in the worst and most rundown area of the city. Threats will come from above and below in this rat warren. Teams will need to stay sharp as they move together and watch the roof tops and ruined buildings. Keep your eyes peeled for ambushes in the shadows, and don’t get pinned down.

Private Matches

We’ve also introduced private servers to Blacklight: Retribution PS4. With these, you can set up matches for just you and your friend so you can play the way you want, with who you want. Sometimes you just need to get away from the mayhem of public matches and enjoy a more gentrified experience with your friends.

Matchmaking Improvements

Zombie’s number one priority during this patch has been to make it easy for you to find a fun game of Blacklight to play. This includes matching itself, as well as host migration and host selection. We’ve also added a lot of tools that will let us further tune this moving forward.

Game Optimizations

Our beta players have been exceptionally helpful. You’ve let us know about issues you’ve run into, and it’s helped the team target areas for improvement. With this patch, you’ll notice improved frame rates, faster loads, and a smoother experience overall. Thank you all for playing the Blacklight: Retribution beta on PS4!

  • I look forward to sinking more time into the game when it comes out of beta! Will try out the horde mode though :P. I really hope you guys found success on PS4; Blacklight: R was a great game on PC and it’s great on PS4.

    Also, can’t wait for Daylight!

  • Ammo is a huge issue for zombie mode

  • you have a major respawn issue in the subway. It respawns you several times into death. Not cool at all.

  • Private match creation by hosting on our own systems is always welcome and a necessary addition, it helps people from countries outside the server ok latency range connect to each other and play with low input delay.

    • We also added the ability to set a region filter for match making. Check the settings menu. If for instance you’re in South America you can choose to only find games in that same region.

  • Glad to see confirmed trophies after Beta, but will this remain F2P after Beta?
    Just curious.

  • @36 That exactly. I stopped playing Warframe because of it not doing so, I find it BS and insulting to the dedicated players. I stopped playing this around that time and won’t go back to it cause I’m not sure if it will do so or screw me

  • fun game can’t wait for trophies but i hate how i can’t own anything without paying real money. its retarded that the money i earn in game can only buy 1 3 an 7 days usage, I’m starting to dislike f2p games, because you have to pay real money to get a good experience form it so i rather pay $60 for the game an earn everything in game like a game is supposed to be

  • Ok first of all i payed this game since first launch on PC and it worked well and all. After So many patches and all, pc version lags like Hell, and servers aren’t as great anymore. Second of All, actually lastly Can i have A REFUND on my PS4 Account? Wasted $25 on the game and $5 was Stolen. SO many others complained Same thing what the hell Next-gen? Don’t make me go back to PC Universe

  • Does this Onslaught plays singleplayer or just online?
and will it have it’s own weapons or the blacklight Retribution weapons ?

  • Now if makes since that zombie studios did this game! lol

  • Now it makes since that zombie studios did this game! lol

  • ikv been wondering for this awhile Are you planning on implementing a offline bot mode where you can customise settings. It would be gratefully for alout of people.

  • Will this game be getting any more patches? If this is just a beta will there be a full game? I love the gameplay and everything as of now however sometimes I spawn outside the map and instantly die sooo yah lol. Also I can’t call in a hard suit indoors which is slightly annoying because I waste a bunch of points when I call it in but forget I’m inside and it never arrives. As of now the gp point system and the minimarts coins are also an issue for me because I spend hundreds of gp renting out guns, I’d like to have a set price so I can get it with gp Permanently. Also please include a party system and invite system that works. I tried inviting friends but it sends a party chat invite instead so that would also be a nice fix. Thanks

  • On onslaught, zombies are WAYY to fast it’s insane. Please dumb them down a bit because they are mega fast even on easy. Just to make the game mode playable. Thanks

  • Lagging out and game crashes becoming more frequent. I suggest that if you put this game up for sale. Cause I’d totally buy it. That you improve textures and decrease lag. Make the game look more ‘realistic’ please. Thanks

  • Hey.. love this game!!. One problem though.. in order to buy new guns in multiplayer PERMANENTLY you must use Z coins(acquired by real money)… why cant i buy the equipment PERMANENTLY using the money i earn from playing games.. PLEASE FIX THIS
