Preview March’s Instant Game Collection

Let’s take a look at what you’re going to get in March with your PlayStation Plus membership. To start, PlayStation 4 owners can enjoy the Apocalypse Edition of the critically acclaimed PS3 twin-stick zombie shooter, Dead Nation. The PS4 version includes updated visuals and controls, as well as a sweet interactive broadcast mode, so hit that “Share” button when you start playing!

PS3 owners get Tomb Raider, one of last year’s most praised titles. This reboot showcases Lara’s transformation from a recent anthropology graduate to a battle-hardened adventurer as her expedition crashes on a mysterious island. You’ll hunt animals, upgrade weapons and choose perks to increase Lara’s chances of survival.

Also on PS3: Thomas Was Alone, an adorable puzzle platformer that showcases the camaraderie of artificial intelligences depicted as various shapes, and Lone Survivor: Director’s Cut, a 2D adventure style survival horror game. Bonus! Thomas Was Alone and Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut are Cross-Buy titles, so you’ll get both the PS3 and PS Vita versions of those games.

For PS Vita this month, you get Unit 13: a third-person mission-based shooter where you’ll need to complete specified objectives, like staying in stealth or completing levels as quickly as possible. Then there’s Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite, a massive experience where you can — you guessed it — kill monsters, and then use their body parts to craft new weapons & armor to take down bigger baddies.

  • I thought DriveClub was going to be ps plus free march game I guess not :(

  • What happened to the video preview?

  • What’s great about this month is that I already have Tomb Raider on my PS3, Dead Nation on my PS3, I’ve got Love Survivor and Thomas Was Alone on sale a few months ago. I’m still going to download it all, but it’s actually LESS games for me to play this month which is a blessing. I’m still working through Sonic Racing Transformed for 2 months ago! HAHAHAHA! Thanks for the update Playstation. You guys are awesome!

  • Will bioshock infinite still be available in march?

  • so. really quick, when is mercenary kings coming out? the trailer said February, the game page said march, and theres no info on this blog.so can someone give me some kinda info on that? oh and rouge legacy, any news on that at all?

  • I just couldn’t get excited about Thomas Was Alone. Maybe trying it for free will help.

But I’m jazzed about Tomb Raider – really looking forward to the reboot, and hadn’t picked it up yet.

Not sure I’d even heard of Lone Survivor – was this originally a PS3 title, or a PS2 classic that was updated? Worth a look, at least.

Dead Nation was fun on the PS3 – bet it would be awesome on the PS4. Hopefully grabbing these on my PS3 to get them in my download list will mean there’s a ton of PS4 games waiting for me to download when I get one…maybe Christmas.

For next month…how about Red Dead Redemption, WITH the Zombie pack? That would be sweet.

  • Awesome! Tomb Raider was one of those games I wanted but didn’t fit the budget at the time. Glad I won’t miss out on it!

  • @Mando44646 You forget that the IGC also has to offer something for the PSP owners who DON’T have a Vita. It’s not that they are offering IGC games from PSP for Vita, they are offering IGC games for PSP for PSP. Don’t forget that they are covering ALL Playstation family devices that have Playstation Store access. Plus they have offered PSOne games on the IGC previously. First world problems man.

  • I’m asking myself why bother buying games at all if they’re just gonna turn up for free on PS Plus? I want to show the developers my support but lately I’ve been more hesitant to purchase something for my Sony consoles, knowing it might end up free around the corner.

  • Tomb Raider is one of my favorites PS3 games! Unfortunately as you can see, I already got it!!

    I really need a Vita!

  • Nice Update on Ps Plus! Definetely getting Unit 13.They should put out Beyond Two Souls on Ps Plus!

  • I realize I’m in a minority here, but thanks for the PSP games that make it to the IGC. As long as I can keep enjoying the PSP, no reason not to play it, y’know? I’ve already been chatting with my friends to set up some ad-hoc MH :3

Some other PSP titles I’d love to see on the IGC include: P3P, Dissidia 012, Tactics Ogre, The 3rd Birthday, and why isn’t Crisis Core on the PS Store? That one would get my vote too.

While I’m wishing, I’d also like an NA launch for Vita TV.

Just throwing that out there. Thanks for keeping the games and platforms mixed!

  • Pretty weak month for PS3…especially for those who already bough TR when it was on sale. Only 1 AAA title and 2 short indies. I’ll pass. Not a big deal I have way too many games fir me free time right now .

  • I would like to see these games in the US PS+

    1) Red Dead Redemption
    2) Max Payne 3
    3) Darksiders 2
    4) Batman Arkham City
    5) Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
    6) Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
    7) God of War – Ascension
    9) Psychonauts
    10) Limbo
    11) L.A. Noire
    12) Beyond Good and Evil HD
    13) Dark Souls
    14) Puppeteer

  • congrats to those who didn’t play tomb raider it’s an excellent game :)

  • Amazing month! Three spectacular months in a row!!!

  • This is a Great PS+ update especially for people who haven’t played Tomb Raider or Dead Nation.

  • WOW. I am getting Tomb Raider, Unit 13 and Dead Nation! *__*

Thank you Sony, developers and publishers for making this possible.

  • Holy crap…
    Holy ABSOLUTE CRAP.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition: ANOTHER game that could’ve been a PS3 game.

Tomb Raider: Awful reboot: Crappy shooter edition. Enough said.

Thomas Was Alone: ANOTHER overrated indie piece of garbage 2deep4u: Dumb jumping around edition.

Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut: holy… seriously? TWO overrated as hell indie craps? No comments…

Unit 13: might be cool, if it wasn’t because is ANOTHER modern shooter (and because is in vita)

Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite: Nice shot. Too bad is on vita.

  • *Reposting*
I want classic games (PS1/PS2) for IGC. Instead of Vita games nobody cares or games of the present that nobody remembers already (I think that’s why they named it “Remember Me”, they looked ahead of the results and they put a name like a message).

    Ideas for IGC:
    Arcana Heart 3
    Prince of Persia
    Devil May Cry
Catherine (I don’t really want it, but I know is a great puzzle games that a lot of people will enjoy)
    Legasista (Interested me, looked ‘different’)
    Warp
    Hitman Collection

For PS2: God Hand, Siren series and that kinda games, Personas and SMT, Gitaroo Man ?,and… I don’t really know which other games there are…
For PS1: I don’t know… Silent Hill, MGS, for example.

  • Add more ps4 titles to the lineup.

  • I can’t say that I’m jumping for joy over the lineup, but it isn’t bad. It’s pretty good.

My only real big gripe with it is that pretty much all of these games are CONSTANTLY going on sale so most folks already own them. I think most of them were even on sale as recent as January.

Normally I’m also on board with the folks not liking the PSP games taking up a Vita slot, but y’all have recently been pretty good with not doing it every single month so that’s all good. Also helps that Vita technically is getting like 4 games in March due to the cross-buy games.

Tomb Raider seems like a shooting yourself in the foot kind of situation though. What reason does anyone who owns a PS3 and PS4 have for buying the PS4 game if they’re getting this one for free? Sure Definitive on PS4 look beautiful (and I got it on discount), but it is the same game. Now I’m not saying it’s a bad addition, because it’s a great game, but I’m a little confused by it. Anyway, for those who do not have either version of the game, you are in for a real treat. It’s an excellent game.

  • Regardless of that stuff, it’s an above average lineup for the most part. I already own most of this stuff (taking advantage of sales n all), but good games nonetheless.

  • I love you so much right now.

  • @ Viewtiful_Gene

You are free to leave the service anytime you want, I personally like Tomb Raider a lot alongside the other titles, but the fact that you don’t like them doesn’t make them crap. The best you can say is that to you they suck, but not everyone has the same taste as you. Grow up.

  • Seriously. worth $30 from Black Friday!!!

  • uhuuu! Awesome!

  • This is AWESOME!!! I love some PS4/VITA Lovin’!! Thanks you!

  • Yet another great month good job.

  • pretty excited to play Dead Nation, never got a chance to play it on PS3. Now with PS+ I have no excuse not to. Thanks for the free content!

  • Very excited about Tomb Raider — glad I held off on buying it when it was repeatedly offered in sales. I really could not care less about the others, though. They do not move the needle at all. Thomas Was Alone has lots of good reviews, but man, it just looks so lame…

  • Whaaat, I just bought Thomas, but Awesome, So many games so little time.

  • Plus subscribers get 7 games for free this month (if you count Quantum Conundrum included in the Tomb Raider Bundle)

  • thanks Playstation for these good games! can’t wait to download Tomb raider and dead nations on Ps4 ;)

  • That’s a picture of Monster Hunter Frontier on PC, NOT Monster Hunter Freedom Unite…

  • Thank you so much Sony, don’t listen to the people bashing on you because you don’t release brand new $60 games on ps+, we understand that it takes time. But for now, keep up the good work.

  • I hope the wait isnt long for the Vita to get some Dead Nation love.

  • Sometimes I have very mixed feelings about buying games on PSN, I love the cross buy and cross save features but it sucks to get a game after finally saving enough or seeing it go on sale just to have it be free a couple weeks later. This has happened many times now =(

I think Curve studios just had their sale like last week and now whoever got two of their games sort of wasted their money they could have put into a bigger game or something else entirely.

  • Bought Tomb Raider when it was on sale a few months ago, and I already have Lone Survivor on PC. I’ll be sure to check out Dead Nation and Thomas Was Alone, though. Bit disappointing to have the only major game be something I bought so recently, but on the plus side (no pun intended) a light month gives me more time to catch up on games from previous months. You guys have been throwing free stuff my way faster than I can play it!

  • Haha no PS4 again… good job sony, screw over early adopters for all the kiddos on ps3…

  • What dates can I expect the releases to be available for free?

  • Definitely not awesome lol. I already bought Tomb Raider just recently and haven’t played it yet, but now it’s on PS Plus! $30 bucks down the drain. February month was amazing though. Metro Last Night, Remember Me, and Pay Day 2! All games on my wish list, so that makes up for it. But why only one PS3 title this month? Would love to see a good RPG, a PS Classic, or a Japan import. Or just more than Tomb Raider this month…

  • PS Plus makes it impossible to trade in my PS3! My PS4 will be busy too but I still don’t own a Vita (sad face).

  • ******** ridiculous!
games are coming at me so fast I have no time to play them all!

  • ^^ ya, my PS3 is unsellable at this point. Like I said I have so many great games on there I haven’t gotten the chance to play as yet. Plus I just purchased the season pass for Walking Dead Season 2, so my PS3 is here to stay til the day it dies (which I hope doesn’t happen in a million years)

  • Crappy western AAAs

Also, Tomb Raider isn’t Tomb Raider since it has nothing in common with Tomb Raider. The new one is just a boring linear QTE generic cover TPS. Also, what the hell happened to Lara Croft? Please tell us that it at least has DLC for a Lara Croft character skin so we can play as Lara.

Modern AAAs are trash and modern western games are trash, and your PS+ offerings lately have been trash. Interested in JRPGs, and not linear crappy low quality western games and AAAs.

  • Well, it’s an awesome month for Vita, shame I already bought Unit 13 on 2012, but oh well. Yet, except for Tomb Raider which is an AWESOME game which I reaaallyy look forward to play, I gotta say that It’s kinda a weak month for PS3. Of course, with last 2 months’s games and school, you get the whole month of wait filled. Anyway, keep up the good games, I’m looking forward for April since it’s my birthmonth :3

  • @ neuropunk,

I bet it makes you so mad to see “crappy western games” do so well lol.

I have a strong dislike for JRPG’s, but I’m not going to call them trash an crap just because I don’t enjoy them.

    Grow up.

  • I’m upset that I am not on playstation plus because I really want to be on playstation plus sense I been gaming online, so I just gotta wait until i’m on P.S. plus which might take a couple of weeks to do. And when i’m on P.S. plus I will try to buy games if my parents let me which I don’t know yet, so you gamers enjoy your P.S. plus and i’ll try to fix getting mine.

  • Awesome drop! Will enjoy Monster Hunter and Lone Survivor. Actually, I hear a lot of good comments about Lone Survivor, so that will be a blast.

Surprised by Tomb Raider landing early, but this is a great surprise! Always meant to play it and this gives me a good reason too.

Funny that Unity 13 is free – I recently lost all my save data on my PS Vita and the only game I couldn’t regain was Unit 13 (because I had borrowed it). Perfect timing!

A little sad about Thomas Was Alone. Bought it during last months sale… ah well.
