Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd Coming to PS3, Vita in N. America

Following a fantastic reception to the PS3 and PS Vita release of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F in North America and Europe, SEGA is proud to announce that we will be bringing Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd to the West later this year!

That’s right. You’re not dreaming. We believed in all of you and we asked for your support – and you gave it to us without reservation. It was your supportive comments, your encouraging words at every place we showed the game, and your drive that made all the difference. Some of you bought the game twice – others three or even four times. But whether you picked it up once or four times, all of you helped make Miku a success, and still do. Thank you so much for that.

Now, it’s our turn to believe in you once more.

This fall, we will be releasing Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd for both PS3 and PS Vita. Project Diva F 2nd features similar but improved gameplay over the first game, with a whopping 40 songs – a collection of the best new songs, and some of the most loved classic songs, previously only available in the Japanese releases. You can check out two of those in our trailer!

Besides 40 songs and four difficulties for each in the Rhythm Game, players can look forward to the return of the impressive Edit Mode feature, which lets you build your very own videos and Rhythm games using all of the in-game assets, and share them online with the world. It has seen notable improvements over the first version, and we can’t wait to see what amazing creations you all will build with it!

And finally, because we like good news, I’ll drop a hint here that we have some fun stuff in the works for our Western release. I’m pleased to confirm one of those things right now: We will be releasing a packaged version of the game for both PS3 and PS Vita!

One of the primary comments we saw across the internet over the last year was that PS3 owners loved their physical copies, and that so many PS Vita owners wished one was available. We begin our campaign today by announcing that whichever platform you own, you’ll be able to reserve a physical copy of Diva F 2nd when it releases!

We’ll have much more news regarding Project Diva F 2nd as we near E3, but in the meantime, we hope this news has made your day a little brighter.

Thank you all once more for supporting us, and here’s to the future of Hatsune Miku in the West!

  • The first Hatsune Miku Project Diva F was only available as Retail in NA but, I am happy that EU is getting a psychical release for both PS3 and Vita.

Now I just hope Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd doesn’t have a import save for bonus

    • We’re happy for the physical release, too! No news on how the save data will work yet between versions, but we’ll talk about that more in the future.

  • Better start saving some cash for this fall. Does anybody how big the supply of physical copies for retail stores Gamestop, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. is?

    • It tends to vary. Last time we made a limited run for Gamestop and Amazon, and most of those have already sold out. (For PS3.) Hopefully this time there will be a few more copies out there to go around, but chances are they will still sell out very quickly.

The best thing you can do is pre-order at a retailer that will have the game. That way, you’re gauranteed a copy, and you’ll support the game at the same time.

  • Thank you for bringing a retail version to europe, thats very important for me and many other players. I will definately support you and buy the game.

  • Is that a typo on the tags? Hatsune mikue or…

    • Thanks for grabbing both of the first versions, and in advance for pledging to get F 2nd! Your support really makes a difference.

  • GREAT NEWS!!! And even earlier than i thought (i was expecting to hear this sort of news on August or September)
Now its time to save up some money to buy this as soon as its released. And ill have to get some ice for whats left of my thumbs and fingers (do not think dirty, it was Extreme Mode´s fault)

Keep up the good work, SEGA.

P.S. Sorry for any grammar mistakes, my english is not too good.

  • Well regardless of discounts, you have a guaranteed buy from me for the vita version : ) Still trying to decide if I’m goimg to pick this up for PS3 as well.

    • Thank you, Blue. :) If you haven’t already, the PS3 / VITA versions are a great way to practice for F 2nd later this year!

  • Thanks for your answer!

Please two more things: 1. Make double list of trophies for the PSVita and PS3 version (Not just a shared one) so that we can get trophies with both versions (Like you did with the first Project Diva)

    2. Could you release Project Diva avatars for the PSN?

    Thanks!

    • Thanks Deep! We haven’t talked yet about how save data will work, but I’ll definitely pass on the request for the avatars. We’ve seen a number of requests for that.

  • GAHHH and I just got the Japanese Version!! x3 T^T The thing is can i wait…

    • Patience, sir sackboy, patience.

      We believe in you!

(Or you could just import the Japanese version, and then get the NA version this Fall.)

  • AHHHHH!!!!! YES!!!! This is the best news I’ve heard all day!!!! Thank you so much Sega! for allowing us to support Miku in America!!! THANK YOU!!!!! :D

  • I have bought Every Miku game so far that has been out in the US… XD So I might just cancel my order for the Japanese version and wait for the english version. Orrrr Just get my Japanese version and then just get the english version again when it comes out xD.

  • Damn kinda wasnt expecting this to be announced till E3, So I take it we should hear about PSO2, Yakuza 5, HD, and Ishin soon aswell?

  • Also if possible get word to the JPN dev team to patch in thumbsticks for the scratch symbols in this one,

  • My current plan with DIVA F 2nd is pretty much the same plan I had with the first game: import the Vita version (with the game being shipped as I type this), and pick up the American version on PS3 when it comes out.

  • Bought the first one and will buy the second one. I’m so glad these are being localized now, it’s always been one of my favorite rhythm game series.

    • We’re glad for fans like you! Thanks for supporting the first one, and in advance, for supporting F 2nd, too.

  • YESSSSS AWESOME. Going to be playing the first 1 on ps3 and vita for now while I wait. :)

    • Get your practice in! There are some really impressively challenging songs in F 2nd, on Extreme mode.

  • *forward rolls off cliff*

Fun question time! What are some of your favorite songs from F and F 2nd Aaron?

    • Great question. There are so many songs I really loved that I’ll stick with the two I beat on Extreme mode first:

1.) MMORPG Addict’s Anthem (Because I’m a big Phantasy Star fan and loved the PSO2 reference).
2.) World’s End Umbrella – Really liked the visuals in this, and the story within the song. Very challenging and fun to play.

  • Aww, come on! It seems like every time I choose to import a Project Diva game for the PS3, SEGA waits a week or two then goes “Alright, he ordered it? Let’s announce it’s coming out in the states.”

Then they twiddle their blue, spiky mustaches and laugh together.

That said, I’m glad this will reach a market outside of Japan’s, and I hope it encourages more games of the like to follow suit.

    • Our spy pigeons informed us that you had just clicked the pre-order button, and from there it took us just about a week to get it ready.

I mean- er, what, we’d never do that! Who uses pigeons these days, anyway?

  • Oh my goodness thank you for bringing the sequel. This is why Sega is the best.

    • We’re very happy to be bringing it out for you guys! Thank -you- for supporting this series on the PS3 and the PS VITA!

  • I own two copies of f on ps3 (Japanese and English). I would have bought it for vita too but it was too annoying on vita to buy the digital version because I can’t log into multiple psn accounts at once.

Very glad to hear it will have a physical release this time! I’ll likely buy for both platforms on day one. Thank you very much!

  • Please have it available for pre-order on Canada ASAP.

  • Are there going to be any plans of a collectors edition in the near future for this game?

  • Thank you SO much Sega!!!!!! This is awesome news! :D :D :D

  • 0_0 thank you so much Sega! I almost lost hope of Miku games getting localized but then PDF came out and I bought it on Vita.
The game just came out and I’m like 40+ hours logged on my save so far. It’s amazing and I’m very excited we are getting the sequel this year… Now to finish Negaposi Continues on Extreme >_< Anyone have any tips?

P.S. Phantasy Star Online 2 fans would show their support if you localized that game too ^_^

    • Good luck on Negaposi! Extreme is quite difficult, but if you use the directional pad in addition to the buttons, it becomes much more doable. Thanks also for supporting the series in the West!

  • @Aaron (response to #118) Aww, come on….World’s End Umbrella is cool and all, but everyone knows World’s End Dancehall is where it’s at ; )

  • No offense but I liked it better when it better when it was a japan only thing ……

    • Oh, I don’t know about that… I think this opinion will change by the time the game comes out this year! : )

  • Thanks Sega. I hope the other games waiting to be localized aren’t being forgotten, but I’ll still get this game to support Sega bringing games over from Japan. I second the request for translated lyrics by the way.

  • Glad that this is getting localized :). I am looking forward to getting the PS3 version when it comes out since I enjoyed the first game a lot, and apparently this one has some of the old songs from previous games, witch is a good thing. I’m glad I won’t have to import this as getting the NA release will cost me a lot less than importing it. Now hopefully SEGA will come to their senses and localize the Project Mirai games since I don’t have a Vita :( and I want to have a handheld copy of the game. Oh well, I am still really looking forward to this and I’m glad that Sega is localizing this and I will be preordering the PS3 version when it goes up for preorder.

    • Thanks for grabbing the first game, Aevanstron, and for pledging to pre-order this one. Support from fans like you really makes a big difference, especially when it comes to pre-orders!

  • also thank you for bringing this over and I will be glad to preorder it when it goes up for preorder.

  • O well, atleast more people notice her now. That’s what is all about right ? More sales

    • It’s not just about sales. It’s about providing an excellent quality game to fans who want to play it!

  • Too bad I ain’t rich. I’d like to support the physical copy but I prefer digital.. Hmm.

Either way, it’s gonna be a “day one” purchase :)

  • Will you release the Hatsune Miku arcade controller to the west?

    • I haven’t heard any news on this, so I don’t know if it’s planned. I believe you can always import it, however!

  • This is probably the best post I seen all day! Thank you <3

  • Omg!!! YEY!! Soooo glad we are getting physical copies too!! Day one purchase for me!!

  • So, I was playing Battlefield 3 in a squad with a few of my buddies. My friend sent me a message telling me that it’s coming to US in the fall, and I think my friends are going to remember me much differently by my manly fangirl screams. Thank you guys at Sega for doing this, I’ve loved Vocaloid for years and i’m VERY glad that Sega would really consider letting those amazing games come over here. I remember it like it was yesterday, I was on here commenting on a PlayStation Blog, just like this one, about the first F coming to US. Awesome.

    • Haha, sounds like a pretty amazing match of BF3. We’re glad to bring it out for you all, and even more glad to have the support of so many fans like you!

  • *Was slowly scrolling down the blog front page and see’s Miku.*
“Hey,its Miku. Why is she on the PS Bl-”
*Scrolls down more and see’s F 2nd localization confirmed.*
    *Screams*

Something told me you guy’s were going to do this super soon. I’ve just been tearing through Project Diva f on extreme whenever I’m on the go since it came out, so I can’t wait for this to come out!Knowing me I’ll probably pre-order and double dip on day one.

  • Yes, so excited for this! Thank you so much!

  • Good, a physical copy this time.

Wish you had given the Vita version a retail release last time. I would have bought both versions then, but instead I bought none. Now I’ll only buy the one I want, since you failed to do it right the first time.

    • We try to do what we can! While a physical version wasn’t possible for the first game on VITA, it was great feedback that we were able to take and use here. We’re really excited to be bringing out a physical version for VITA. Thanks for your support!

  • SEGA, you’re beginning to become my best friend all over again. Thank you so much for giving the western audience a chance to fall in love with Miku! I’ll be looking forward to pre-ordering both physical versions.

Might I put in a suggestion for a LE/CE that includes a soundtrack download so we can listen to all these great songs on the go?

    <3 SEGA and thanks again.

    • That’s what we like to hear. Thank you for the feedback and support, Zeruel!

    • Alright friends, my time for comments today has come to a close. As always, thank you all for being so supportive, and as always, for leaving us your feedback here on the blog! We really appreciate it.

      Until next time! : )

      – Aaron

    G….!!

SEGA! You guys have made me soo happy!! I was one if those that bought both the games for part 1 and was just thinking of importing 2nd and was just checking wiki(just now) to see when it shall be released on psn japan when I see it says “NA Fall 2014” I just stared and thought it was a joke…that my eyes were playing a trick on me….came to this blog and…well you can guessed what happened next but I shall tell anyways. Me and my sister fanscream of course. Was so happy! (Had checked wink yesterday and fiend said anything)

One thing though, when will the demo be out? Really want to play akatsuki *.*
(Still thinking of buying the Japanese version for my vita and just a side note, Project Diva f was the one that made me buy the vita I own now. So…thank you Sega!!)

And Aaron…good job bringing this news to us so soon! And also thank you to the Miku team there at Deva for bringing us the second part!

    Hibari out!

  • Hey Aaron, you are awesome as always replying to all those messages!

If you guys are putting any sort of collector’s edition together, do not do the enix and keep it ps3 only.
Give us PS Vita owners a stick and we will grab it and never let it go!

Add me in for a collector’s edition.

Here is another tip, if you do make a collector’s edition, make it so that the PS3 and the PS Vita versions come with different items (pictures, cd covers, PS3 stickers, PS Vita stickers) but keep the soundtrack (as in the case of a cd) the same.
It is a little more expensive to put together, but if enough people want a collector’s edition, then this is the way to do ti, as I will be buying the PS3 and PS Vita versions of this game as always,

Anyways,, back to Miku! <3 <3

  • You know to be honest.
When i saw “coming to PS3” I was just about to say “Damn it! So im gonna have to wait for MAYBE a vita release?” but then it said “and for PS Vita”. and i was like =D

Oh Sega, well played. You honestly had me there.

  • I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT!!! Talking with you at Naka-Kon 2014 led me to believe this would happen within the year and I was RIGHT!!! however it did surprise me that you announced it so soon. I hope to see a limited edition. Be it a poster, tote bag (like japan is doing), a sticker, a limited edition soundtrack CD (or blu-ray what ever it is), I’ll be buying TWO of the bundles (if there isn’t a limited edition) and have the second as a prize on my youtube channel. ALL HAIL AARON WEBBER FOR GIVING MIKU THE SMALL PUSH SHE NEEDED TO COME TO THE WEST AND RECIEVE OUR SUPPORT!!!! Am I able to reserve a copy with SEGA and if not can I already pre-order the game at gamestop? (please say yes, please say yes >.<). I hope to see you at Naka-Kon 2015 so I can congragulate you and thank you for bringing this game over. LET THE CELEBRATIONS BEGIN!!!!!! Where's the sake and the surround sound stereo!? I commence a Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd party!! XD

  • YES this made my day!

  • Those are great news!

I’m having a lot of fun with Diva F and I was hoping to see F 2nd released in west. I’ll buy PS3 version for sure.

    Keep releasing good games!

PD: Rin and Len’s setlist is a little weird this time >_<

  • oh I just ordered the Japanese edition. Both PSV and PS3.

  • HOORAY, HOORAY!!

My Vita copy (JPN ver) will be coming in tomorrow, but this is great news! Will double-dip!! =D

  • WOW. It’s like a dream come true!
    So hyped!!!

  • I like #123’s comment; a collector’s edition would be pretty sweet.
