  • I’m really excited for Mercenary Kings! I’m usually not that interested in indie games, but gameplay footage shows it has alot more depth than i expected. All the weapon customization options, missions, and the scott pilgrim-like graphics makes it seem like a great game. Thanks Sony! :)

    • Hey everyone, Kristine is out today, so I’m gonna jump in to answer any questions I can.

On Mercenary Kings, yeah it’s awesome! I played it at IndieCade East a few weeks back, and it’s a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Finally get a chance to see what all the hype is about these Arkham games, looking forward to it!!!

  • Is spiderman any good?

  • Is the Obscure: The Aftermath a PS2 Classic? The store is down, and i can’t check.

  • Whoa — this isn’t an April Fools is it Kristine? We get Arkham week one? So much <3 for PS+

  • When will you guys announce the PS+ Vita games?

  • Looking forward to playing Batman again. It’s been too long.

  • Also, Batman Arkham City is a great game for people who haven’t played it yet. Not as perfect as Arkham Asylum was though, but certainly not as boring or glitchy as Arkham Origins was.

$17.99 sounds like the price Amazing Spiderman should have been when it first came out. I’ll never understand the overpricing of those movie tie-in games.

  • Thanks for Mercenary Kings, it looks pretty cool.

  • @6, check the 3/28 blog. Velocity Ultra and Pixel Junk Monsters are the Vita titles.

  • Hey everyone hi Kristine, my ps3 just gave out oh well I can wait get a another ps3 any ways great month for this great games! Kristine ? Do u know if we are getting any great sales this week and who is the new person taking over PlayStation now? Will E3 be different this year and when is E3? Need to k n o w thanks!

  • Wow, I’m surprised Batman was given this early. I figured a game like this would come in the middle of the month.

Nothing else for me this week, but Batman is more than enough, as I already have plenty to play. Thomas Was Alone, Remember Me, giving XCOM a try, Grid 2, etc.

Thanks for all you offer on PS Plus. Well worth the money.

  • Great IGC additions. If you haven’t played this Batman game yet, you are in for a treat.

  • Any chance you can give us a little insight into how you go about selecting games for the Instant Game Collection? (Meeting certain sales targets? Publisher trying to drum up support for a franchise? Plus Member requests?

And, also, why do certain games come of the IGC list?

  • MotorStorm: Apocalypse for the PS3. It released 3 years ago.

  • I went and looked for the 3/28 blog, but didn’t see anything. Could you post a link for the April PS+ perks?

  • Good week for Plus! I was going to purchase Mercenary Kings, but thanks for the freebie! I also want to play through Arkham City again and was going to buy the GOTY edition. Off topic question. When are the red and blue DS4 controllers coming to America? I’m waiting to buy a second controller until they drop! Again EU gets the fun stuff!

  • @16

is called PS Plus April preview and it was posted on march 28th. just look at the bottom of the front page of ps blog and click ‘view older entries’ once to enter page 2 and you should see it as the third article down.

  • Do we have a trophy list for Mercenary Kings?

  • Thanks for mercenary kings it’s looking like a fun game. Hopefully it will be fun and give hours of gameplay value.

  • I’ve been waiting for a price drop on Spider-Man on PS Vita for a long time

  • Mercenary Kings:
wow I’m so happy the PS4 was created to play games that look 20 years old.
I’m sorry, I do appreciate the games that are released for free, but games like this make me wonder why they’re on the PS4 and not released decades ago… I guess the market for retro gaming is high these days… and technically there’s nothing wrong with that. I know there’s more to games then gfx, but some of them look like refurbished/reskinned games that came out on the SNES or Genesis. Half a year ago we were promished DriveClub as launch PS+ title, I’m confident that will still happen the day the game comes out finally, but I can’t say we’ve seen anything comparable for the PS4.

I’m very happy with my PS+ account, I have it on all 3 consoles, so don’t get me wrong. I just don’t get the whole retro feeling. I played those games decades ago, I’ll dig up my SNES if I want to play that stuff.

    • Games don’t need to have crazy AAA graphical sheen to be fun! Basically, developers have more access to more tools to build the games they want to build, which is the true beauty of PS4. It’s not just about graphical horsepower, but of course, when you look at games like Second Son…hot damn.

More tools to make games mean more devs can build more experiences that otherwise (and here’s the main idea) would have never existed. Games like DriveClub (which is coming along and looking amazing) take TREMENDOUS resources and time to build. But in the meantime, devs can makes games like say, TowerFall Ascension on a more independent basis and provide an amazing experience on PS4; old-school graphics and all.

My point is, don’t be turned away because a game ‘looks old’. Gaming is great these days because smaller devs can use that retro art style, but still have a fantastic game to play. embrace it!

  • Arkham City was my first Batman Arkham game. Played it on Xbox, super fun.

  • @3

If you see this, the Spider-man game’s actually pretty good. It’s rather short, about 6 hours if you just sprint through the story, but you have an entire city to explore with a plethora of collectibles, and it’s just, fun. For 18 bucks, I’d recommend it, for sure.

  • Does the Cat woman DLC come with Batman Arkham City (PS3) ?

  • Found the Merc. Kings trophy list! Get ready for some seemingly difficult replayability!

    http://www.exophase.com/game/mercenary-kings-ps4/trophies/

  • That is a great deal on The Amazing Spider-Man. GameStop is still giving like $17.50 in trade for that game, so I am going to trade mine in and get the digital version. No worries about my laser being worked to death.

Been waiting to try Batman Arkham City for awhile, now. Best of all, it’s not another indie title that anyone could get on Steam or their Android for less than ten bucks.

Indie hipsters are amusing to me. I imagine they all have berets and long cigarette holders for their clove cigarettes, while they talk about the latest Sundance festival and how much cooler Colecovision was than Atari.

  • Hell yes!

  • Was expecting at least the new batman ( origins ) ; nevertheless this one is the best of the 3 , will hope for a sale cause there’s nothing for me this month, for the first time in a year of + :(

  • A very poor month, a single PS3 game that was released in 2011. Give us the GOTY version at least.

  • Spider-Man way too expensive, should be like Bioshock $5.

  • these sales are meh… hope there’s actually more

  • I’ve been looking forward to Mercenary Kings for a long time, and I was shocked to see I’d be getting it through PSPlus :-D

  • I wish Activision would get the clue that many gamers don’t want to pay $18-20 for aging games (in this case, Amazing Spider-Man is 2 years old on PS3 and 1 year old for Vita) that got mediocre scores from reviewers.

Square Enix, 2k Games, EA and Ubisoft frequently offer their digital titles at very appealing prices within a year of release. They all understand that gamers who wouldn’t purchase a digital game for $60 aren’t going to; they’ll make much more selling current games at low prices than waiting until those games are too old to care about.

Activision always seems to want to stick with the premium price strategy, forcing gamers to adhere to the pricing model that was still in effect at the beginning of the PS3 generation (pay full price for a game on launch day or wait a couple of years for the Greatest Hits version). They’re making so much money off Call of Duty, Skylanders and the Blizzard games that they don’t really care about moving inventory.

And that’s sad, because $18-20 is much more than either version of ASM is worth at this point — but they’d probably make a number of digital sales if they lowered the price point to $7.50-10 and talked up the value of adding on the DLC for $4.49.

  • Any content is great content, whether it’s bad or not. No need to complain while you are getting more then your moneys worth of content.

  • Thx for Mercenary Kings and Arkham City ^_~. That Spider Man sale is awful, like all Activision sales compared to other ones =\.

  • I’m really excited about having Batman Arkham City on the PS3! I wish however that Mercenary Kings was not just a PS4 exclusive; it should also be on the PS Vita!

  • Finally a PS4 PS+ game I like, even better, It’s a game I was looking forward to buying :)

  • #33 Exactly ! Game seems to be just like any spidey’ game , would get it for 5 or even 8, but 18 ….no way. And like i said we could have origins instead of city ,or the GOTY for city.

  • you guys gotta think more about what your putting on IGC …. Batman Arkham City is a very good game ….but seriously the GOTY Edition is 17.99 used at gamestop 20 bucks new everywhere… and were getting this and no dlc discount this week lol

and the spidey game … it could cost less ;) lol and i wish there was more than just that discounted

  • indeed #38 my thoughts exactly

  • Would have thought about Spidermnan, but stll dissappointed in the last game I bought at that price.
Dragons Crown ( reminded me of a rereleased version of Dungeons and Dragons ) and at 17.99 … bleh.

IGN even gave that a solid 8, and Siderman ,basically, a thumbs down.(Vita)

IGC is fairly week this month, and had I bought Pixel Junk when it was on sale would have been let down, espeially after last month.

Definately need better sales on games on other than those left behind or not even worth buying.

  • Anyone who thinks Arkham City Isn’t ridiculously over-lauded is a vacuous drone, it undoubtedly garnered undeserved praise. What an utter failure of journalistic integrity.

  • Arkham Asylum is far and away the best title in the series to date.

  • Avatar photo

Hey there, no need to insult others in the comments for thinking a game is fun. I, for one, thought it was a super sweet game and a ton of fun to play.

  • @ Morgan Haro What you said about Indie games was the best and most eloquent way of saying it! Also played Arkham Asylum loved it super excited to play city!

    • thanks! and enjoy Arkham City, it’s a fantastic game. a little different in scope that Asylum, but still one of the best games of the year when it was released.

  • Really looking forward to Mercenary Kings! I remember playing Green Beret on the Commodore 64 and I’m getting that same vibe again :D
