Destiny’s PlayStation-Exclusive Content Detailed

During last week’s PlayStation E3 2014 Press Conference, you might remember the illustrious Adam Boyes noting that PlayStation owners were set to receive a ton of exclusive Destiny content — literally too much to detail in the show itself. Now that the E3 hubbub has died down, I asked Bungie and the PlayStation elders to share those details right here on PlayStation.Blog for the first time.

At launch, PS4 and PS3 owners will get exclusive access to a unique co-op Strike located on Mars, an exclusive competitive map, and a slew of exclusive guns, gear, and ships. Read on for the full details below. Oh, and if you tried out Destiny’s PS4-exclusive First Look Alpha over the weekend, let us know what you think in the comments below!

The Dust Palace Strike: An exclusive three-player cooperative Strike that can be played with friends or match made. You’ll track a Cabal extraction team through the husks of an ancient human skyscraper, the Dust Palace, buried in the shifting dunes of Mars and face a new enemy, the Psion Flayers.

The Exodus Blue Competitive Multiplayer Map: A mid-sized Crucible arena that pairs perfectly with Control and Skirmish game modes. The Exodus Blue, a long-dead vessel, once brought hope and humanity to worlds beyond Earth. Here, Guardians challenge one another, forging a new hope and future in the fires of the Crucible.

Gear

For the Warlock class, Manifold Seeker armor that was built to help Warlocks survive the secret realms of the Vex.

Weapons

The Monte Carlo, an exotic assault rifle, is a handcrafted showpiece with a sleek look that masks the cruel reality of its function — the efficient elegant delivery of war against any who would tarnish its legacy. Upgrades increase the weapon’s “hip fire” effectiveness and boost melee cool down, providing a firm grounding for close range domination.

The Hawkmoon, an exotic hand cannon, is a true gunslinger’s weapon — a smooth sidearm that makes every bullet count with intricate “hawk feather” etchings carved into the weapon’s silvered barrel. Damage boosts increase the combat effectiveness, making it a formidable weapon.

Ships

“Aurora Wake”

A hull lined with arcane instruments, crafted by a circle of Warlocks – gifting the ship with a preternatural sense for the strange.

“Crypt Hammer”

A deep-strike insertion variant, built to carry Guardians safely through contested space. Carries hardpoints once used to hold Suros TL-SEAD anti-radiation missiles.

“Outrageous Fortune”

A rugged, versatile explorer for those ready to gamble everything in search of ancient secrets and alien power.

  • Sweet, can’t wait for Sept.

  • BTW, had a blast playing the Alpha!

  • Exclusive for how long? Lol…

  • Played the Alpha and can’t wait to get my hands on the full game!

  • I’ve been watching streams of this game for the past couple of days. Even though I’m a bit jealous that I haven’t tried it, I’m glad I held off on buying a PS4. That white one looks too good.

  • Woo Hoo! Cant Wait To Get All That Awesome Gear! The Hunter Outfit Looks The Best! Alpha Was A Blast, Cant Wait For The Beta!

  • Nobody’s going to buy a console just for Destiny, so I think exclusive content is stupid. When will third-parties stop catering toward one console or another and implement some cross-platform play? THAT is what new-gen gaming should be all about.

  • Alpha has been fantastic. This is easily the game that I am most excited for.

  • Exclusive content or “exclusive content*”

    * = coming to other consoles later?

  • Awesome! I am excited for all of it, but especially the strike. That was my favorite thing to do in the alpha. Now, about this beta…

  • So is that ship exclusive? or is it those 3 paintjobs that are exclusive?

  • @7

Maybe your not but for other people that don’t have a PS4 this is a great incentive for them to jump aboard

In other news really had fun with the Alpha and I hope Alpha and Beta testers gets something nice in return as well.

  • I wasn’t sold until the Alpha. The Graphics quickly grew on me. The seamless social / personal experience was the cake!

  • Loved the Alpha – don’t understand most of the hate I’ve read towards the game. Can’t wait for the Beta and full version.

PS – Alpha is still going on (or it was earlier today at least)

  • :D commenting……….

  • Loved the Alpha–hated Dinklage’s voice acting work.

This content looks pretty cool. I’ll definitely be rocking the Manifold Seeker armor this September.

  • (exactly the same comment was posted by me on SCEE blog)

I have one thing to say… I can’t wait to play Destiny… but I don’t like idea of exclusive DLCs or exclusive items… if game is not exclusive for one type of console than content should be exactly the same on each consol! Take a look at CD Projekt policy to see great example of what I’m talking about!

Well… the only one that is happy with “exclusive” content is you guys (SCE!)… it allows you to show that you won something… one battle with M$. We players don’t care… again if it is not exlusive we want to let all players have exactly the same fun!

Btw. is there any way to contact you SCEA? We fans are trying to bring visual novel to SONY, publisher said that he is willing to make game for VITA… but we need a little help with reaching stretch goal on their kickstarter.

  • I was not interested in this game at all and even scoffed when the Gamestop employees kept try to sell me a pre order. However, having played the Alpha over the weekend has left me wanting more. I don’t think it will be a Day 1 for me but when the price comes don about half I’ll be all over it…!

  • The alpha was amazing!! I know I am going to be so addicted to this game when it comes out, I can’t wait!

  • I was thinking this would be my game this year. The Alpha’s re-enforced that feeling. Handsome Jack’s gonna be free to do whatever he wants on the moon since I’ll most likely be spending all time time with Destiny.

  • Already pre-ordered on my ps4. Glad to see the exclusive stuff.

  • I was on the fence about this game, but after playing the alpha, im sold.

  • Only got on to play the Alpha for 30-60 minutes yesterday, but I really enjoyed the time on there. Great looking world, combat feels pretty fluid and lots of nooks and crannies to check out. Have had this pre-ordered since last year’s E3 so starting to get excited we are nearing the release date.

  • hate the alpha… now the wait for September launch is too painful!!!!

    love bungie, great game

  • Is there a point to having “cute ships” if we cant actually fly through space (or the air) and fight in em? Also well the story campaign have co op as well or will that be strictly single player?

  • Played a good 20 hours or so of the Alpha over the long weekend with my clan. After starting with the Hunter, then leveling a Warlock, my interest was drawn by the Titan. Even though I prefer the look of the Hunter the most, the Titan’s Super was the easiest for me to control and worked best with my play style, allowing me to clear out large packs of enemies once it was charged, leaving a sizable amount of Orbs of Light for my fire team mates in the process.
Didn’t run into a single problem during my playtime, so I was quite impressed.
Can’t wait for the Beta next month, then the launch in September.

  • Played the Alpha and can’t wait to get my hands on the full game!

  • I really enjoyed the First Look Alpha. Once it was done downloading and installing, I went ahead and played for hours. I usually just stop playing a game for an hour or less. When I played it, it felt like Halo. Especially playing in Crucible, in control mode. I decided to pre-order the game!

  • The alpha is great can`t wait for the game .Wasn`t gonna order earlt but I am now thanks .

  • I loved the game, and didn’t even venture over to try the Crucible. I am terrible at FPS, and especially competitive FPS. But I had a great time playing some of the content on my own, getting paired with random people and playing with my friends. And the Strike was awesome. I can’t wait to play more, and I don’t regret my pre-order one bit.

Only bug I ran into was one time that we couldn’t get connected with one friend, despite trying a number of times. Other than that, no bugs.

  • I really didn’t know what to think of Destiny before playing the alpha. After leveling up all three classes I’m going to pre-order it today. It’s incredibly addictive and there is so much to explore already. I can’t wait for launch day.

As for the exclusive content*… I think they could have fit that into the show.

  • I had fun playing the, alpha test over the weekend. I also hope that, us alpha and beta testers get something cool. Can’t wait for the full game.

  • I just loving the Destiny Alpha right now.I signed up for the Alpha Beta got the code but a friend of mine was not so lucky.
So sometime around 3am Saturday morning i got an email from Amazon with a Alpha code attached,i almost woke him that time of the morning.(We live in different countries) he couldn’t thank me enough.
We played all day, night till the wee hours of the morning.
And im still playing it right now lol.
And this is just a taste of what more is to come.Well done Bungie…..Well done…
By way i pre-ordered this last year on Amazon with my eyes closed :P

  • the alpha is so grand, words don’t justify the experience.

  • I absolutely could not put the alpha down! It was so much fun but it’s also going to make the wait til September so much harder now lol! But great work bungie I can’t wait to get destiny home… Unfortunately I have to like everyone else lol.

  • So no collectors edition then Sid?

would have been nice but i’ll live

  • This is some sweet content. I was fortunate enough to play the First Look Alpha and was blown away by all the customization and high production values from a game in the alpha phase of production. Looking forward to playing the completed game in September.

  • Yep… after the alpha, I’m hooked. Wife enjoyed it also. Can’t wait until September. Loved the Hunter and hand cannons. I want that Hawkmoon. LOL!

  • Th Alpha was Amazing!!!!

The second I find out that Dinklage is Ghost i fell in love wit the game! Don’t you dare to remove that!

If only you would have managed to made this a PS4 exclusive. You would be already the new gen champions hands down and console sales would have jumped to 10 Million!

Feedback: Make sure you have tons of customization options and I found the lack of autosave disturbing but I’m sure the full version will have it. Be careful with the infinite respawning for the baddies though.

This is definitely a day one purchase!! :D

  • Loved the alpha and have the PS4 digital version now on preorder (pretty sure that countdown clock makes the wait worse :P). Had a blast with it and managed to get all classes to max level playing with a couple friends.

A few minor bugs in the game though that’s to be expected, but none were anything that had affected gameplay (or at least not any we had encountered). The only thing that took a lot of getting used to was the ‘speeder bike’ as I wanted to use R2 for boost and it’s mapped to L2. I’m hoping that this is because weapons will be mapped to different vehicles later on.

  • Wasn’t too excited about Destiny pre-Alpha; now it’s like crack. I really wish my weapons, etc., would carry over to Beta and final release….they seemed interesting but I couldn’t try them out at the low level. I also kinda would like some sort of “I played Alpha” trophy or bonus, but that may be rubbing it in to anyone who couldn’t.

  • When does the alpha end? An will it be shut down? Plus I was wondering if everything from the alpha will move over to the full game?

  • An exclusive crucible map? Nice!

The Alpha was amazing, I can’t wait till release. I’m gonna pre-load this one for sure

  • The Destiny Alpha is sooo good! It gives me the same feeling when I played the Halo 3 beta. Great stuff you guys!

  • Richard-Feynman4

It’s simply amazing!!!! 1 of the best game ever played ;) Good work Bungie! You exceeded my expectations! :)

  • Well, after playing the alpha, I have to say:

Bungie, Welcome to the playstation family! :D
Happy to see you guys releasing your new game on the playstation platform. I just convinced my friend to buy the destiny PS4 bundle :)

  • After playing the alpha I don’t know about this game. The crucible online mode is fun at times but I don’t understand the whole story mode you can’t pause and it seems that I don’t see any set objectives. Just it is mission after mission without knowing when a level will end.

  • I enjoyed the Alpha quite a bit. Was a bit disappointed that the level cap was so low. I hit Level 8 in like 2 or 3 hours.

The other main problem is Crucible multiplayer is way unbalanced. Since people are allowed to bring in their own campaign gear, people who can afford the better gear are going to win. If it stays that unbalanced for the final product it’s not something I would want to purchase. Might want to fix that issue.

Had a good time otherwise. Thanks for allowing me to participate. :)

  • I love the Alpha so much ! http://youtu.be/hqLXlE5TAEE that is a video I made !

  • Love the Alpha. Cant wait for the game. The only thing I didnt like was Dinklage voice acting. Hes a excellent actor but for some reason he sucked at Destiny voice.
