Preorder to secure access to the Destiny Beta
Happy Bungie Day, PlayStation Nation. We’re thrilled to share in our annual celebration of community among gamers with some exciting news about Destiny.
You’ve imagined yourselves in the boots of a Guardian, prowling the wild frontier in search of treasure and glory. The time for dreaming is almost over. The time to fight is at hand. The Destiny Beta is our chance to fill our brave new world with life and see how it holds up against the stampede.
- Beta Launch: July 17th — First on PlayStation platforms; preorder on PlayStation Store for Beta access
- Maintenance: July 21st, 22nd
- Beta Rally: July 26th
Play when you can, but make sure you’re present to be counted on July 26th. Not only are we hoping to leave a high watermark for population on that day, we’ll also provide a special reward to those of you who make an appearance in the Tower… or in the frontiers beyond its walls.

You can add September 9 – charge for delayed DLC for the same price on Xbox. I wish you guys would stop doing stuff like this, you act like it is an honor to buy your game.

I pre ordered through best buy. Does this mean i can not get in the beta? I was in the alpha so i feel those of us who were in the alpha should auomatically get the beta
Not sure if this has been answered or not so I apologize…but will the beta be available for preload if we ordered from Gamestop and have our code registered with Bungie?

Apparently if you pre-order via Playstation Store you won’t receive a code, instead you’ll receive a direct link the day the beta launches. See below:

Beta Information
Destiny is the latest first-person shooter from acclaimed developer, Bungie. A limited-time beta will begin on July 17th for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users.
How to get access
All consumers who pre-order Destiny from the PlayStation Store will receive access to the Destiny Beta. The beta is scheduled to begin on July 17th.
If you pre-order Destiny via the PlayStation Store: You will receive a direct link to the Beta on 7/17/14 via email, XMB message (PS3) or a PS4 system notification. No beta code is required as your PlayStation Store pre-order will provide you access to download the beta when it’s available.
I seen a lot of question on this, I had this question myself, so I thought I’d help spread the word.
I pre-ordered Destiny on the PS Store but haven’t received any emails about the beta code. Should I not have it by now? Also, I’m now seeing a Digital Guardian Edition for another $29.99 that says it allows beta access. I’m confused about what this edition is. I just want the standard game with a beta code. Please advise.

I preordered over a week ago and never got a beta code sent to me:(? I know I have the same email got the receipt thing sent to me but its not an actual receipt its just shows price of game and no beta code:( Please help! And if I should have got it or something can you just send it again? Idk Ive looked through every email like a million time even the junk folder im getting really scared! Need it so I dont miss out on any of this beta action son!

Question. Bungie revealed that with the preorder purchase they would also be giving three codes o=along side the one you get with preording the game, how would that work if you preordered the game through the PS Store?
So i pre-ordered it over psn and haven’t gotten a beta code through email. Although i did get a copy of my receipt through it. How long does it take? Any help?

yes, you choose what console you want to download the beta on, so I dont’ see why not. Just keep in mind, PS4 you have to start buying Plus every year even if you dont’ like it (or have no need for it) or already own most of the games they “rent” to you on Plus just to play Destiny on PS4, while on PS3 you dont’ need Plus.
I pre-ordered from PSN about two weeks ago and haven’t received a beta code. Hopefully they aren’t going out the day the beta begins…

Do I need to upgrade to Digital Guardian Edition through the playstation store to access the beta? I already paid $59.99 and don’t really care about the guardian edition for an extra $29.99 but I do want to play the beta.

NVM I read the previous posts. But I was also wondering: i preordered the game on my ps3, but i also have a ps4. will i be able to get the beta on my ps4 as well?
Hi all,
I used my PS4 earlier today (16th July) and turned it off (not on standby) but for most of the afternoon and into this evening the white light is slowly pulsing on an off and I cannot access my PS4 with the remote or by touching the on/off switch. It is not responding.
I am wondering if the PS4 is downloading the software for the Destiny Beta that starts tomorrow – I have been told that it is about a 15gb download so with my internet speed it would take a long time.
Is anyone else noticing their PS4 doing what seems to be a very long download as described above?
I am not brave enough to turn off the PS4 just in case it messes up a download (assuming that this is what is going on) or even if it is a system download? My PS4 is fully up to date with updates to the best of my knowledge and I’m finding this a bit odd.
Anyone seeing this too?
P.S. further to my comment above – I am in Australia hence the time difference as we are ahead of the USA.
