It’s almost time! 10am Pacific Time today marks the start of PlayStation’s annual gamescom press conference in Cologne, Germany. And as per usual, our buds at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe are streaming the whole darned thing live — and you can watch it all right here (or on PlayStation Blog EU, if you want to soak in a bit of that European flair).

A quick note: much like E3 is targeted to the US audience and Tokyo Game Show is targeted at Japan, the gamescom press conference is primarily aimed at European gamers — please keep that in mind as you watch. Not everything mentioned or shown in today’s presentation will necessarily apply to those of us in North America. We’ll post on all appropriate things for the North American market right here, however, just as we always do.

Does Europe care about Vita? PS4 sales are really good there right? Pretty understandable not to waste time announcing games. Now find more ways to promote Vita/ps4 cross functionality and you might get some sales there.
I own both next gen consoles, and I honestly have to say that I was disappointed by today. No major release announcement, other than Tomb Raider… Nothing new, really, no AAA console sellers (IMO) and we’re gonna have a crazy Fall ahead, but then what? We will have to play those games for 2-3 years or what? How come no teaser at least for God of War, something else from Uncharted, etc… !? Meh. I guess I’ll focus on September and Destiny… Better be really good cause I’m gonna be playing that for a long time it seems lolll
Yoshida said that there are 18 first party studios making games for PS4. MM is porting Vita title to PS4. Housemarque is making another twin stick shooter.. Sony went from mid-budget publisher to Indie budget publisher. Do they have any game with more than 50 people working on it ?. Is it all going to be iOS type games for PS4 from Sony ?.
With the announcement that Tomb Raider is an Xbox One exclusive and the fact that the Vita was not even mentioned, very disappointing Gamescon this year.

LOL I don’t really get the marketing strategy of Sony, why the hell would they introduce the ps vita TV without any games on it at all! Able to remote play ps4 games on another TV ain’t gonna cut it! IMHO, YOU GUYS SHOULD HAD developed vita games instead wasting resources on VITA TV.
The least you guys could do is remove this from the VITA blog section. At least I get to save a little money for the foreseeable future. Thanks guys for helping keep my wallet full.

I have Vita games flowing out my ears guys… filling a 64GB card and half of a 32GB card and that doesn’t count the 25+ physical Vita games I own. If I played nothing but the Vita games I’ve bought or obtained through Plus, it would probably take me years to get through them all. So don’t act like there are no games. Indies will continue to support Vita, but for whatever reason AAA publishers including Sony have decided to focus their efforts elsewhere. It’s an awesome platform, but you shouldn’t be mad at Sony that not enough people realized how awesome it is, or that many are too busy with smartphones or the ridiculous success of the 3DS as their portable platform. Maybe with Playstation TV there will be a resurgence somewhat. Unfortunately the mobile space appears to have been ceded to Nintendo and smartphones and Sony won’t likely be making another handheld.
The Vita could’ve succeeded…………. hopefully PS(Vita) TV will save it!

@110….. The Vita TV IS A VITA you dimwit, without a screen. Why would you say there’s no games for the Vita TV? lmao… you can play any game on it that you can play on the Vita, except for actual VITA games that REQUIRE any touchscreen controls obviously.
continued from above….. forgot, The Vita TV is just to let you play Vita games (or PSP or PS1/2) on the big screen instead of a tiny 5 inch screen, or you can stream your PS4 gameplay to it in remote play just like you do on a Vita (except with the Vita TV it’ll be on the big TV and a DS4 controller is plugged into the Vita TV).
I have to admit I’m also disappointed in the lack of Vita support. They advertised remote play for PS3 when it was first released, yet only one set of games out of my 80 or so actually work with that……. freakign God of War 1 &2… >.> The Vita is it’s own damn console, Christ it’s a handheld that can handle PS4 graphics, let alone PS3….. Yet all I’ve mostly seen is Sony advertising it as a remote play “controller” for the new PS4.
Get with it SONY!!! I didnt’ buy a handheld console to remote play my PS3 or PS4 that’s hooked up to my 40″ tv! START MAKING AAA GAMES FOR YOUR DAMN SYSTEM!
And when I say AAA games I mean AAA games (Uncharted GA and Killzone Mercs come to mind). Not *cough* Hotline Miami *cough*. I’m so sick of this indie crap, if we wanted THAT we’d buy games on our smartphones….. To be honest a few arent’ bad, I bought Starlight Inception for one…. but all in all it’s getting ridiculous.

@dragonIron Who you calling dimwits? ps vita tv have no games………… It can play vita games but you have to do a RESEARCH that only selected vita games are playable so basically its functionality only is for ps4 streaming. No upcoming games and very selected vita titles to play.

Didn’t I just say that, dimwit? It cant’ play an actual Vita game that has touchscreen controls that have no regular counterpart, since you won’t be able to use the touchscreen commands on a regular tv with a DS3 or 4….. (and there’s no way around that). But you can play any PSP or PS1/2 game you have on your Vita at the moment on a big screen instead. And not all VITA games have touchscreen only controls….
^ one more thing, The Vita TV isnt’ a console in itself…… Why do you think it’s only $99 (and it’ll get lower then that eventually). IT’s either to play what vita games you have that have no touchscreen required controls on a big screen instead of a tiny 5″ screen, or to connect it to a TV in another room so you can play your PS4 in more then one room w/o moving the console.
So… no ‘real’ Vita announcements? I understand that Sony isn’t pursuing anything more than Indie titles for the handheld anymore, but I did buy a Vita to play Vita games. I have more than a few, don’t get me wrong, but I’m still waiting on details regarding release dates: Freedom Wars, Oreshika, etc. I was hoping for… you know, something. I was even holding out some hope for a few new games, such as God Eater Burst 2 or something. Not much, but some.
One thing I was really hoping for? Announcing the 64gb memory card for outside of Japan! That would definitely have been nice to see. Still, not a bad show other than a lack of Vita-related announcements (and I don’t think I remember seeing/hearing anything in the show that had the Vita being taken advantage of by a PS4 game as a second screen/controller. What happened to that angle?). Hope to hear more about Vita game release dates and such sometime soon.
I have a PS4 and PS Vita. Seeing no major announcements for the Vita and Tearaway for PS4 makes me irritated with Sony. That feels like a slap in the face. Nothing but Indies and JRPGs in the future. I want games like GTA, Infamous, God of War and open world games for Vita. I want NBA, WWE, NHL games. And don’t say that I can use PS4 Remote to play Vita. I want stand alone PS Vita games. For the record, I have owned PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP and Vita. I feel that Sony is not doing enough for Vita.
@DragonIrons DO RESEARCH FIRST before pushing you nonsense comments about Playstation TV. You know why they omitted vita on it’s name because only asian version (playstation vita tv) are capable of playing many vita titles. There are only 10 vita titles that are in English the rest are all JP language.

WHAT ABOUT THE VITA? I am so sick of the way Sony has been treating the Vita owners. I don’t have PS4, I don’t have PS3. I have a PS VITA. Why did they even make the Vita if they weren’t going to do anything with it? They should have made more, better games for it. It’s all jrpg type games and indie games. If they would have made more games in different genres the Vita would be doing just fine. But no, they decided to twiddle their thumbs and let it die. It’s not too late Sony. Either try to fix it or make up for this, Sony. This isn’t right.

I didn’t think it’d be possible, but Gamescom was worse than E3 for the Vita. Only about one game was announced for Vita, and it’s also coming to PS4. Good for PS4 that it’s getting a bunch of games, but is it really worth the cost potentially losing the trust of millions of Vita owners? You couldn’t spare a few studios or divide some of your larger studios into smallers ones to make Vita games? Not even any 3rd party titles were announce. After this year, are you just going to let Vita die after barely giving it a chance ? Sure you’ve made some 1st party games, but you didn’t even promote them. After a disappointing E3, we get an even more disappointing Gamescom. 4 The Players? Apparently that only applies to PS4 owners. I was hoping Sony would make it up to Vita owners at Gamescom from E3, but this year many of us are angry, and frustrated.

Most ps vita games doesn’t even require touch controls to become playable still the playstation TV failed to allow most of it to Playstation TV. Never heard of Gods Among Us? that’s one example and I can name more vita games that doesn’t really require touch input.
And also there’s already a patch to simulate touch controls, but still almost all games release in West are not supported on Playstation TV, only 10 vita games are compatible.
Missed the conference, but I am guessing from the loads of vita comments that they didn’t announce any decent bundles for the vita or at least that the new colors were coming to NA… But this was a European conference after all, and they have bundles and colors there. Still, I had hopes…
Sorry, I must’ve missed you mention that last time but I wasnt’ aware the Vita TV only works with ten actual Vita game cards. My question is how does anyone know for certain? It’s not even out yet. I find it hard to believe the US VERSION of the Vita TV only works with ten games released here….. considering all it is…. is a Vita without a screen (with an added HDMI out and usb port to plug in a controller). The Jpn version ya, but the US version?
I haven’t heard of the Playstation TV having compatibility trouble with too many Vita games, honestly. Just that the rear touchpad part wouldn’t be available, though I could see them moving that to the touch bar on the PS4 controller. Or that’d be the front touchscreen thing. Is that true, or can the Vita games just not have their touch screen inputs somewhat remapped? I doubt it’d work well with something like Tearaway, but something like Persona 4 Golden shouldn’t be much of an issue. Anything that doesn’t really use the rear touchpad should be okay. Of course, I don’t know since I haven’t used the PS TV, so maybe someone else does?
No love for the PS VITA, this is really sad :( Can you just release a retail version of Soul Sacrifice Delta or Ratchet and Clank Collection, that would make me happy. :)

Bring back Kaz, Sony. At least Kaz cared about the Vita. These new execs are killing the platform altogether, this is what happens when you get people from a marketing background, and put them in charge of the software division.
2013: “Kaz Hirai also stated that Sony’s long term support is what is imperative to the Vita’s success. He’s looking to have the Vita around for at least 5-10 years. This was the same case with the PS3, it didn’t have any games at launch, but after awhile the system picked up a ton of steam.”
2014: “It’s more about how Vita can have multiple uses – with PS4 remote play, PS3 games with PS Now, and the dedicated games. The whole ecosystem with PS4 at the centre, the Vita’s a part of that.”
What’s slowly killing the Vita isn’t the competition, it’s the company in charge of the Vita itself.

Game Looks great. But something’s a bit off on the AI’s movements, it’s not fluid enough and it has the same issue wth killzone shadow fall.
It’s a small reparable issue. It all looks awesome.
