Short Peace Out Today on PS3

Get a full dose of anime culture today! Short Peace has finally arrived in the Americas with an anime movie and game sold as one, exclusively for PS3!

Short PeaceShort Peace

If you haven’t heard of it yet, Short Peace is a film anthology that features works by the legendary anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo, who is best known for his popular dystopian cult film Akira. The project includes four short films with various settings and themes throughout Japan’s history from ancient to modern-day Japan, and was originally created to celebrate the unique qualities of Japanese culture.

We’re proud to say that one of the short films, Possessions, was nominated for a 2014 Academy Award for best Animated Short Film. It tells the story of a lone traveler who is confronted by unusual spirits in an abandoned shrine. Combustible is a spectacular tale of love, honor, and firefighting in ancient Japan. Gambo sets a mysterious white bear defending the royal family from a monstrous red demon. A Farewell to Arms tells the story of a tour-de-force saga of men battling robotic tanks in apocalyptic Tokyo.

Short Peace

These short films are book ended by a 2D side-scrolling action game called Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day. The game was directed by game producer Goichi Suda (Suda51), who is known for his fabulous eccentricity, so gamers can expect Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day to be nothing less than bizarre, abstract, and wonderfully outlandish.

In order to really grasp the oddity, enchantment and unique qualities of the Short Peace project, you will just have to watch and play it for yourself!

  • I love that Bandai Namco brought this to America. I was afraid it would be yet another work of art to never leave Japan.

  • Totally caught off-guard here. Want to know more!

  • Would have been nice for you to include a gameplay video. But reading the description, it doesn’t sound appealing to me at all.

But i do have an unrelated question for Namco, when are you going to bring Tales of Xillia2/Symphonia avatars to the NA psn store? They have both been on the EU store for months now, and its ridiculous that its taking this long to transfer digital pictures to the NA store.

Unless this is yet another example of Namco favoring EU over NA, like you have been doing alot with Tales preorder dlc and One Piece content. :(

Finally coming state side, and with the anime included… But how much does it cost? Also is there a physical copy as well or just the digital download, cause i can’t stand digital downloads of movies. I want to collect them, not watch a delete cause my PS3 HD is too full

Oh, also if i buy this would the movies work on my PS4 as well?

  • Looks amazing! Can’t wait to try it out!

  • Out of the left field. Never heard of this.

  • I don’t understand why the blu-ray that I’ve owned since July doesn’t even include this game nor made mention of this product. Like I’m a little annoyed having to purchase the same product twice now, let alone that PS3 is old now. Start thinking about the PS4.

  • Everyone’s questions above + why did this take so long? This should have come out over the Summer when I cared.

  • Europe got a full retail release a while ago, are we going to get one as well??

  • WoW! Thx Bamco ;) Out of nowhere this arrived on PS3.

  • Are we getting a Blu-Ray version? I am a film buff and I want a high-bitrate version on Blu-Ray, not a compressed HD stream or a low bitrate digital download.

    Thanks.

  • Looks quite.. boring, really. Suda 51 pulled me in and now the whole game is pushing me away.

    More Vita games Please.
    Keep them coming.

Have to look into this one more.

  • Yeah, I’m snatching this up too.

  • Retail release???

  • Artemisthemp

#1 Sorry to tell ya but, this game is old and have been out in EU for a long time

  • UltimateI911

    Any chance of retail release?

It’s kinda disappointing that Bandai Namco keeps putting out digital release. Skipped a few titles because of that.

  • Katsuhiro Otomo FTW!!!

  • wait im confused so does this game also come with the shorts?

  • BalmungTaichou

    Where is the PS4 love?

  • califoreigner

i’ve been waiting for this one since first hearing about it. so glad the short films were included since i haven’t had a chance to see them yet. cheers!

  • Would’ve been nice to get a limited retail release at least… why you do this to me Bamco?

  • I was pretty excited for this, but $40 is absurd. This is a $20 title tops.

  • R-O-Ofaliss

Is there no way to just buy the game? I have the shorts on Blu-ray, so it would be absurd to pay $40 for shorts I already own and a fairly short downloadable game.

  • PrinceofXIII

Where the hell is the retail version?

Already have the movie, i’ll import the EU version for the game instead.
