The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 10/14
The Drop

This week, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s latest effort in horror comes to PS4 and PS3, courtesy of The Evil Within. As Detective Sebastian Castellanos, fight for survival amidst a deranged world filled with vile creatures and deadly ghouls. Navigate a city gone wrong, where every scavenged bullet and patch of shadow can save Sebastian’s life. Upgrade his abilities, endure horrific visions, and unravel the evil forces plaguing Crimson City.

But if you scare a little too easily, don’t worry: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launches this week on PS3. Witness the origin story of Handsome Jack with four new Vault Hunters and a seemingly endless stream of sweet, sweet loot. Use the low gravity of Pandora’s moon to gain the high ground, and obliterate your enemies with new laser weapons and ice bullets. And Claptrap. Always Claptrap.

Oh, bonus news: Minecraft is coming to PS Vita. For a full list of new games hitting PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

  • I am happy that the Vita gets Minecraft on tuesday, but I am waiting for the physical version.

  • Lots of good stuff! Still playing through Alien Isolation so I’ll probably pass on the new releases this week. I’ll check out Minecraft on Vita since it’s cross buy with the PS3 version :)

  • Does anyone know if I can buy the PS3 minecraft now and do the ps4 upgrade. I want to get my feet wet for the Vita version as I am a first timer. Or was that a limited offer and have to wait til Tuesday?

  • Hey, Sony. How bout releasing some HELLDIVERS or APOTHEON?! With news of Hotline Maimi 2 being delayed TIL 2015 we need some of the other releases promised earlier in the year. And whatever happened to N++?!!!

  • Is the board game mah-jong actually real mah-jong or “mah-jong solitaire”? Would love an English or Cantonese (HK store) localization of Tottemo E Mah-jong Plus ; )

Obviously, I have Sleeping Dogs preordered ; )

    唔該!

  • For the love of god, please put Driver: San Francisco on the store already! I’ve been waiting to play this game for forever. I dont understand why it’s not on the store. Pleeeease. I need to play this game.

    Sincerely mantistobagin

  • When will Peggle 2 add on packs be released for purchase?

  • Can’t wait for my copy of SKSV Let’s get physical :D

  • Oh awesome! I didn’t know Nidhogg was coming to Playstation this week. That’s such a fun game! And I’m glad they’re doing a demo for Minecraft, despite everyone and their mother playing it, I’ve managed not to ever try it

  • will minecraft vita be cross-play with ps3

  • I’m really interested in how Tears to Tiara 2 is going to turn out, I really like Atlus and SRPG games so i might have to buy it day one. I already have The Evil Within Preordered though….all my $$$ is disappearing

  • No Cross-Buy on Lone Survivor? ;(
    Too bad.

At least more :wubwubwubwubwubwub: is coming to PS. D:

  • Finally! My preodered copy of The Evil Within is preloading. Can’t wait to play it. Also I will be picking up Senran Kagura Limited Ed at Gamestop on Tuesday. Sony fan for life!

  • @48: Yeah, I got a good chuckle, when I saw it being advertised in the ads, this morning. You never know, though; they could surprise us. Seeing as how I’ve never watched the show, it’d have to have some pretty good reviews + a significant price drop, before I’d consider biting.

  • Can you add Project Car’s to the Preorder list on PS4 please. I want to take advantage of the $15 back in PS Credit this month. Thanks.

You really need to add more game’s for Preorder. And there no reason not to let anyone cancel there Preorder for any game. People change there mind from either they find out the game wasn’t what they where expecting or they found out the game doesn’t have a feature in the game they though would of been included. Things change as production comes to a rap closer to release.

  • Looking forward to Tuesday, got my PS TV pre-ordered. Peggle 2 should be on the Vita too!!

  • Bait-and-switch is a form of fraud used in retail sales but also employed in other contexts. First, customers are “baited” by merchants’ advertising products or services at a low price, but when customers visit the store, they discover that the advertised goods are not available, or the customers are pressured by sales people to consider similar, but higher priced items (“switching”). sounds like what they did with Driveclub

  • @56 Say how did you get the Katsuragi avatar? I can’t seem to find it on the PS Store. lol

  • Can’t wait for Evil Within and Senran Kagura! Imported SKSV last year and it is an incredible game. Stoked to actually play it in English (with DLC!), it’s probably one of my favorite games ever. I’m a huge Mikami fan from way back, so Evil Within is a big one for me as well. Amazing week!

My wife will be excited to play some more Peggle, I wish custom soundtracks and Mp3s were implemented on PS4 so I don’t have to listen to the in-game music. Get it together already!

  • You guys…NIDHOGG!!! And it’s Cross-buy? Sold!

  • Thanks for all these games, but I WANT MY COSTUME QUEST 2!

  • Nothing for me but The Evil Within this week.

  • Not a bad week. Peggle 2 will probably be my Tuesday buy. I’m getting Borderlands on PC because it’s not available on PS4.

  • Why is PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures 2 only coming to PS3 and not the Vita? Ghostly Avdentures 1 and 2 is also available on 3DS, but not on Vita. It seems odd that it would be skipping Vita. I would have gladly purchased it.

  • @66 Shinovi Versus Avatars are only available in JPN psn but who knows maybe they’ll be available to purchase this tuesday when the store update :D

  • @73 I really hope so.I’d love to get a few Shinovi Versus avatars. lol

  • More minecraft? awesomesauce

  • Most excited bout senran kagura pre-order the limited edition….don’t mind spending a few bucks extra and its my first time buying something limited or special edition

  • Goodbye destiny ps4 hello pre-sequel PS3. Wub wub wub DROP,

  • Can anyone explain the fact that there is no option to pre-order Borderlands: The Pre-sequel from the European playstation store. There has been no hint that the game will be available for digital download, nothing shows up when you search for it. It’s seriously puzzling that the game is available from the US but not the European store.

  • I hope to see some juicy flash sales, my wallet is ready for the taking! $_( ^ o ^ )_$

  • To the powers that be: now that you have a fourth console in the form of a PlayStation TV, I think it is beholden to you to recognize the importance of clarity; namely, differentiating between a Vita game that only works on the Vita and a Vita game that works on a Vita and a PlayStation TV. On the current blog, for example, you have indicated Vita – my first thought, since I am picking up a PlayStation TV on Tuesday – is whether or not each of the games listed will work on the PlayStation TV. I shouldn’t have to resort to hunting all over the internet outside of this blog to find that information.

It would be substantially clearer if, from hear on in, you could list a game as such:

    Game X:
    PlayStation 4 + Vita + PlayStation TV

    or

    Game Y:
    PlayStation 4 & Vita

This would help to make it a lot easier/clearer for people looking at your blog posts to see what is coming out.

  • Why is Walking Dead not crossbuy with Vita?

The Vita version is defective and stalls/skips constantly (if you play the PSN version instead of buying a retail cartridge). The least you guys could do is let those of us who own it play it on PS4. I’ve had it for a year now on Vita but haven’t been able to get through it because the performance is so frustrating.

  • OMG Senran Kagurannnnnnn, Minecraft Vita and Tears to Tiara II omg omg omg omg omg!!!

  • @ beefmark: None of the releases of Walking Dead are cross-buy. They all have separate trophy lists, so they charge separately for each version.
I 100% the Vita version shortly after launch. Yeah, it suffers performance issues, but it’s still totally playable.

@ deacon5: Yes, you can still purchase the PS3 version of Minecraft, get the $5 upgrade on PS4 and grab the Vita version for free after it releases. They explained everything very clearly in the Minecraft Vita release date post, available on the front page of the blog.

  • Yes, Nidhogg! I have been waiting for this game to come out on PS4 ever since it has been announced. It is a complete blast to play with a group of friends. :D

  • Hello Ryan Clements,

I’m sure your superiors have given you strict orders not to comment on the status of Driveclub for PS+. That’s cool, I’ve got bosses that make me do things I don’t want to do as well. Hopefully you can pass this up to someone above your pay grade though. The fact that I didn’t know why I couldn’t download the game that was “promised” to me this past Tuesday, makes Sony look incompetent at best and anti-consumer at worst. I don’t understand why Sony doesn’t just say something like, “Driveclub is not working right now for PS+, we don’t know why (or we do) but we don’t know when it’s going to be available. Sorry, we screwed up.” That would come off as much more sincere, transparent, and would probably clear up a lot of the confusion surrounding that game. Whoever your PR company is you should probably ditch them and hire me. I can almost guarantee you I come at a cheaper price than your current firm and I can guarantee you I won’t make you look like wankers to your customers. So let me know when you would like to begin negotiations for my salary.

Have a nice day and talk to you soon!

    Respectfully,
    lateraleye987

  • Minecraft: about F#%&ing time edition is avalible finally!

  • Hi Ryan, is that PlayStation TV show Powers coming to EU ps+ also? Do you know if it has subtitles?

  • Looking forward to playing Sleeping Dogs again but I am confused that the download size is only 5GB. It downloaded and installed last night. I saw that and was shocked. Seems about the same size as last gen and one of my friends said the steam download size is 20GB. What is going on?

  • @Skyyplum: The web store listing for the PS4 version (Definitive Edition) says 16.6 GB. I don’t have any other info, but apparently the game is indeed supposed to be bigger than 5 GB.

  • It was a tough choice between pre ordering Borderlands or The Evil Within.
But seeing as I still have much to play through Alien: Isolation, I have enough horror for me for another week. <3

So I settled for blasting away midgets, on the moon!

  • You know, not only does it look terrible (and feel like awful customer service) when you ignore questions about Driveclub PS+ Edition, it REALLY looks terrible when you skip those questions but proceed to respond intermittently to comments and questions on other topics. A simple “We’re still working on it and hope to have an update to you as soon as possible” would answer 99% of our concerns and is the least you should be doing at this point. Why the questions were not anticipated and a comment on the topic included in the above article, I can’t even fathom.

    Pro-active communication, please!

  • @skater_Ricky Not being able to cancel is why I preorder only a week or a few days before release, so that I get the deal, but know what I’m getting.

  • Now my daughter can play Minecraft on her phone, iPod, tablet, PS3 AND Vita. Expect palaces straight out of dreamland. A must for any budding young architect. Digital Legos every creative child should have access to. Building a more creative tomorrow, one block at a time.

  • Man, what a good week. Intimidating, almost. Evil Within and Borderlands with Minecraft on the Vita. Then throw in a Sleeping Dogs remaster for good measure.

  • Hi, just wondering why Lone Survivor isn’t cross-buy on PS4, especially since there are no new features added. Curve usually does so well with that feature.

  • Agree with the one who wants ps one classic “Einhander” I will had Ehrgeiz and Bust-a-Groove 1 & 2!!

  • Here’s your Driveclub update per sony’s silent treatment: “Still broken, thanks for asking”

  • And here’s your clarification on the definition of EVO working around the clock. When they show up to work 9-5 M-F there is a clock around them. Don’t bother with the weekend or holiday studio is closed can’t get in to work around the clock.
